This for sure is Kylie Minogue best album , she changed the too sexy and usual sound for a good , modern , sparkly and glamurous soundthout losing the sexy ."in my arms" , "like a drug" and "nu-di-ty" are the best songs , but some songs are very strange , like "sensitized" and "speakerphone" when the beautiful voice of Kylie is modified and sound too artificial. Is cool to try to find the bonus tracks too , "rippin' up the disco" and "white diamond" are good tracks and should be on the standart album , replacing the bad songs. This album is a great evolution in comparation to Body Language and Fever. She made this album for a mundial market , but just one song "all i see" for the american market , which remembers of the songs of Mariah Carey or even "one step at a time" of Jordin Sparks.
obs: This album was and still out of stock of the most important retail store of here(Brazil) ,due to the high selling of the album when with was just a pre-order.
She's back & almost better than ever - Review written on April 14, 2008

Kylie Minogue is back, and better then ever. Yes, that phrase is over-used but, the fact is, it's true. Kylie's tenth studio album effort, 'X', is amazing pop. Ms. Minogue has just finished off her battle with cancer, and has effortlessly made one of the best mediocre pop albums of the year. Cheers to her. Now, let's get onto the actual album.
'X' starts off with the first single lifted off of the album, '2 Hearts'. This song is different than what we've been hearing on the radio lately, so props to her for taking a risk and putting this out. It also has a rock feel, but the video kind of destroyed the last chance for the song. The next track 'Like A Drug' sounds a lot like all the other songs on the album. Including 'In My Arms' & 'Speakerphone'. The latter being the hottest of the three. They all have the poppy-electric sound. Like A Drug is very addictive, same with In My Arms. But Speakerphone is the best. Especially with lyrics such as, "Drop your socks and grab your mini boom-box". You can't get anything better than that. But, as said, they are all similar in the fact that they are all dance, & both have robotic auto-tuned vocals. 'Sensitized' also sounds the same as the other bunch. Though this one is a bit different, it has the same music theme. Though this song is really hot, no doubting. The rest of the songs are basically the same.
The One' & 'No More Rain' start the downfall of the album. Both of these songs are pretty boring. Although The One is loved by some members of the forum (Kenny). For some reason, No More Rain reminds me of Ray of Light... eh. 'Stars' also is pretty bad. Very loud, and busy. Then the album makes a right-lane turn, and picks itself up. 'Wow' is the BEST track of the album. Fun, happy, positive, club-ready, vocals are hot, everything is just great. The whole song is addictive, and so fun to sing-along to. "Your such a rush, your rush is never ending, now, you got it your WOW WOW WOW WOW!" "What can I do? I'm into you... yeah, yeah, yeah" This whole song is radio-ready. Defiantly a stand-out track. Wow, wow, wow, wow! It continues its upward spiral with 'Nu-di-ty' although the track can get annoying at times. And then we go down, again, with 'Cosmic'. Pretty crappy, boring, and the vocals are terrible. It does remind me of a Gwen Stefani song. Especially with the vocals. The album closes off with on a brighter side with 'All I See'. This is another stand-out track. Vocals are hot, rap is great, beat is nice, and I can so picture crusin' along the road blasting this song. Great song.
To wrap this up, the album is mostly great, but has it's negative moments. But to be honest, this album is pretty great and is worth the money. Especially with the last track, 'All I See' which is the latest single. Worthy of anybody's cash, this is great. Very underrated. 3.5/5
*Key-tracks: 2 Hearts, Like A Drug, In My Arms, Speakerphone, Wow, All I See

This album is rock-steady hot. If flawless, beautiful, dance-pop is what you're looking for, do not pass this up. Forget Kylie's last cd, Body Language. This is a return to form, possibly more beautiful than Fever, and definately gorgeous, especially the hypnotic club anthem "Stars" and "In My Arms". Great going out music, uplifting and beautiful. Thanks for not collaborating with Timberland, Kylie!!!
Back to the eighties - Review written on March 25, 2008

After a four year absence, the pop icon from Australia is back with a disco-electronic-pop album that will send you right back to those wild partying days of the eighties. If you're a young `un, ask your parents about it. (They may not remember too much about that decadent decade, but they WILL remember the music)
First single "2 Hearts" is a rework of a song by the British group Kish Mauve, who also produced the single. This track takes you back to your sweater-off-the-shoulder/leg-warmer Flashdance days. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Strictly for dancing:
"Like a Drug" - starts like "You Really Got Me" (originally by The Kinks), which is on the soundtrack for the movie "Doogal", songs from which were performed by Kylie.
"In My Arms" - single-worthy, radio-friendly track sounding like early Madonna. Think "Holiday" and "Borderline"
"Heart Beat Rock" - more early Madonna
"The One" - another remake, another single, and one of the best tracks on the album
"Wow" - name says it all
For tapping your toes and shaking your hair:
"Speakerphone" - electronic pop, sort of like Daft Punk's "One More Time"
"Sensitized" - typical `80s track, nothing special
"No More Rain" - familiar sounding track that I can't place right now (maybe slower Madonna). I really like this one too.
Mellow stuff:
"All I See" - pop/R&B track, sounds like a Janet Jackson song
"Stars" - a little like Simply Red I think
Not so hot:
"Nu-di-ty" - electronic pop filler track
"Cosmic" - sleepy filler track
Recommended for Madonna fans, and anybody old enough to remember and enjoy the music of the eighties.

I have to admit I was not impressed with the first single (2 Hearts) off this album. I also never thought that Kylie Minogue could do outdo the quality of music she released with Fever, 8 years ago. But BOY WAS I WRONG. "X" is one of the most solid, consistent and catchy dance albums I have heard in a very long time.
Track 2 - Like a Drug, is pure pop genius, as is Track 3- In my Arms, and Track 11 - Wow. With almost no filler, this record plays like an awesome electro-dance mix, mixing it up with a little Kylie-fied hip hop (Heart Beat Rock) and new age pop (Cosmic, No More Rain).
But it is Track 4 (Speakerphone) that blows this album out of the water. This is one of the cleverest and most unique pop tracks i have heard in a very long time, and only solidifies Kylie's place in pop music history. Album after album, single after single, her music is catchy as hell, musically innovative, and really fun to play on repeat!

I wasn't the hugest fan of Kylie Minogue prior to listening to this album. I had heard hits like "Slow" and "Can't Get You Outta My Head" and was very fond of them, however I had never purchased a full Kylie Minogue CD before, and now I know that I've been missing out. "X" is one of the best CDs I've bought all year and well worth the money. I had heard "The One" on an internet radio station and was immediately addicted to this song. I searched up and down iTunes for it and was discouraged when it was not available, so I went to Amazon and low and behold it was there. Not only did the "The One" satisfy my need for senthisized pop music, I also found several other songs on the album to be more than fanstatic. I bought this CD for one song and ended up loving the entire album. My favorites by far are "Speakerphone", "Sensitized", "The One", "All I See", "Nu-Di-Ty" and "Like a Drug". This CD is a pop masterpiece!

After discovering Ms. Minogue in 2002 with her mega hit "Can't Get YOu Out Of My Head" I honestly thought she was a one hit wonder, but she keep the hits coming "In Your Eyes" "Love @ 1st Sight" and my favorite track from Fever "Come In To My World" asure me that she was a force in the music industry. When Body Language came out I was so surprise it was like a whole different but yet familiar sound so I decided to research her history, Ms. Minogue had about 20 years doing music and more than 10 albums incluying all her greatest hits albums. I even bought Ultimate Kylie(which includes of her hits) and Show Girl HOme coming Live(a 2 cd album, that recorded the first show she did after her recovery). Now she hits us with X, at first it took me a while to get use to 2 hearts, just like it was going from "Spinning Around" then to "Can't Get YOu Out Of My Head" to "Slow" and now to "2 Hearts" like i said before so much difference but yet familiar. I wasn't sure what to expect from X, and since in the states X will be released in Febraury(which I problaby will end up getting anyway), I got this version, this albums aims to please and it does, she even gave us an extra track "Ripping Up The Disco" which it's one of my favorites. In true kylie fan fashion you will be surprise at first, maybe ask your self what is this???, but after you listen to the whole thing it's one of the best albums of her career.I can smell a grammy nomination already(maybe she will even win like how she did with "Come in To My world").... 5 stars....

It's that time again; a Minogue album is upon us. X is actually the first Kylie album I've been desperate to buy on the day of release, based on the strength of the leaked album tracks and outtakes. Having now got a copy of my very own, the hard part of this review is the final rating. When X is good it's very good, to the point that I can overlook the fillers and the car-crash. However, for the first time Kylie has come out with a few duds. To be brutally honest, "filler" is too good a term to call a couple of the tracks. I've been umming and ahhing, and have decided on a 4, but if you're a casual fan it may be a 3.
I'm going to start this review the diamond in the crown. `Rippin' Up The Disco'. This is a downloadable bonus track that really should have been a regular track. Hell, it should be a single, it's really that good. If you loved Kylie's LIGHT YEARS album you'll love this, it fits in with that era perfectly.
The album highlight for me is 'In My Arms'. Very dance-pop, the lyrics are simple & catchy. The music is very Calvin Harris. This track could be huge. It will be the second European single (excluding the UK).
`Like A Drug', `The One', 'Stars' and `Wow' (UK and Aus single) are pure pop. Forget the credibility chasing please, Kylie is made for pop, she makes these tracks shine.
The Cathy Dennis penned 'Sensitized' - dropped from BODY LANGUAGE - makes it way onto X. Like '2 Hearts' it's new for Kylie, but it works. Simple, yet complex, it sounds like it could have been an IMPOSSIBLE PRINCESS track. Very sensual lyrics.
A classic Kylie album (for me) has at least one average single. `2 Hearts' i8s a solid, slickly produced number, with nice breathy vocals, but it just doesn't do anything for me. Maybe I'd like it more if my first thought wasn't "It's Goldfrapp". The song, its video and Kylie's style are blatant copies. Anyone else would have been instantly shot down for this huge rip.
Another, unfortunate classic Kylie album stable is the use of filler tracks. I played the album before sitting down for this review, but I still can't think of anything constructive to say about `No More Rain', `All I See' or `Cosmic', apart from It's something we've come to expect from Kylie, but with the above mentioned treasure trove of potential tracks for team Kylie to pick from this really could have been avoided.
I do have another negative point. For the first time on a Kylie album there are a few songs that aren't even filler tracks, their just horrid. Take a bow `Speakerphone' and `Heart Beat Rock'. `Nu-di-ty' gets a few points for becoming car-crash; it's not good and it's painful, but I can't help listening.
This is Kylie's most solid album since the perfection that was LIGHT YEARS. It's a long way from perfect with only half of the tracks (and the bonus) being truly album worthy material, but we can still sigh with relief that X isn't BODY LANGUAGE: Part II.
