For the price I paid for this it was impossible to pass up. This is heavy. Very heavy. it looks small in the picture but trust me it isn't. Built to last and will never wear out.

This product was not really what I was expecting. There is no bottom to the pan, so using the open grill for anything other than roasting whole peppers is completely impractacle. I haven't used it yet, and don't really foresee any time that I will use it. I'm just glad that I paid so little for it.

A bargain price for this otherwise overpriced item.
Could not go wrong with this one.
If you do not wish to use it inside on top of gas burner, then, it works outside on the grill or even over the properly set up camp fire.
I think you have to keep its concept of charring the whole peppers in order to remove the outer skins and to add flavor over the open grill part of the unit to get full use out of this item.
Be sure to properly season & clean & store this item like any cast iron cookware and it will last indefinitely.
If it had been higher priced, I probably would not have made the purchase, but I knew what I wanted if for and it works for me.

I bought this to use mostly as a cast iron skillet, at 7$, i couldnt go wrong! I then realized that i could actually use the grill part as well...i love roasted eggplant or garlic...just wrap in foil and place on top of the griddle and turn every few minutes. in no time you will have roasted veggies...plus the foil prevent any dripping. The griddle attachment can be used for pancakes, grilled cheese, fajita meats, ...anything really! its a lovely, heavy, durable product...if it were $50, i'd think twice, but at 7-8$, you cant go wrong, even if u use it as just a griddle.

I should have known better! I am a freak about keeping my glasstop stove clean, so this product is not for me. I have a couple of cast iron pans that I use regularly so I figured I would like this one. But...I don't care for it. The bottom is extremely rough (scratches) and it is not pre-seasoned. On a positive note, it is very nice looking. I will give it to my mother-in-law who uses a gas stove (better suited for a gas stove).

I got this as a gift, and quite frankly, I was annoyed. Who needs another specialty item in a crowded kitchen?

Once I tried it, I was hooked. This is the BEST for roasting hot chili peppers and makes an unbeatable salsa! Roast hot peppers until they are charred completely, rinse off the burnt black peel, chop finely, and you are set!

The solid grill is fantastic for pancakes, and when flipped over, the flat surface makes a really good warming tray whose heat is adjustable.

I love this item!!!

I was always jealous when I saw other people roasting peppers right on the burner of their gas stoves. I have one of those flat top electric stoves. With this roaster I can be like all the cool kids! It works great and I have some lovely roasted Anaheim peppers to prove it.
Attractive but totally unnecessary - Review written on March 04, 2008

If you have a BBQ grill it will produce more peppers, quicker and better than this "roaster". It simply is an open ring that elevates the grill about 3 inches above your stove flame, but leaves your burner open to staining from dripping peppers. The unit has a separate flat plate to turn it into a small griddle or tortilla warmer but a standard cast iron skillet or griddle would accomplish all of this more simply. It does look attractive so if you are into collecting obscure kitchen utensils this might be for you. Everyone else will probably be disappointed.
