If you buy beans from the store and need to soak them for a period of time, this jar is exactly what you need.

I do not believe it is to be used as a cooking implement, as previously reviewed by others. I bought it for my sister and she soaks pinto beans and lentils. Works like a charm!

Color, size are fine. Made chilli...slow cook in the oven. Worked out nicely. We think this is a bargain at the price. I am very happy with our purchase. Wish we could use it on top of the stove....overall a five star!
Funky looking little pot, and love the color. Bought 3, one for me and 2 for gifts. Very happy. - Review written on February 08, 2008

Solid little pot and nice looking. I leave it on the stove, as my kitchen is yellow with cobalt blue trim, and this pot fits perfectly. Nice capacity.
Not only a bean pot ... - Review written on January 18, 2008

This bean pot is a delight! Right out of the box it generates a smile with its shape, form and color. Have already let it take center-stage with a batch of homemade cookies. Does it make cookies taste better? I don't know, but it does make the process of retrieving them a visual pleasure. Another reviewer's son hit the mark in describing it as "Winnie the Pooh's Honey Jar."

I also plan to use it to brighten up the table when serving soups and stews. The 325F max does limit its use in the oven, but not for keeping food warm. When it is empty there is no doubt it can stand alone as a decorative feature.

So, with all its cons as a "bean pot," it excels in all its other guises. If you only want a true "bean pot" maybe you should look elsewhere. If you want to use your imagination and enjoy a beautiful product with self-made limitations, go for it! And for the price, your imagination meets great value.
Oven save to 375 - Review written on January 18, 2008

How can a ceramic stoneware product that was fired at 2400 degree be limited to 375?

My guess is that is the shock safety temperature.
Let the stoneware (and the food inside) warm up with the oven and it should be fine.

I received the pot and am now using it as part of my living room decoration. Nice decoration piece! Just read another review. Yes, probably I will use it as a cookie jar as well.

I bought this pot to cook the meat. and when I do research I cannto find what is the degree F to put it in in te oven.
so I decided to buy it.
When it came it appear that the pot can be use only for up to 325F
this is very low.
I was very dissappointed. other wise the pot is Fine.

This is a beautiful bean pot, but I was disappointed to discover it is oven safe only to 325 degrees. Nonetheless, its sunny yellow color and generous size are nice, and for the price, I'll keep it. I will probably use it more as a serving piece than for actual food preparation.

I wouldn't use this as cookware for the reasons mentioned by other reviewers. I do consider it an outstanding cookie jar. One of my sons also noted that it strongly resembles Winnie the Pooh's Honey Jar.

The color and design are beautiful. I assumed it could be used on the stove top, and I was wrong. According to the Amazon description it is microwave safe, but the included instructions state that it cannot be used in the microwave. It can be used at a 325 degree or less oven temperature. If it was microwaveable I would have kept it. It would look great for serving, but I have little storage space. I try to purchase items that can multi task.
It's pretty bu useless for Mexican cooking - Review written on January 04, 2008

You can't cook with this on direct heat, either on a stove nor grill. So you'll have to use it as a serving bowl or use the oven, the least Mexican way of cooking beans.
And why is a Mexican bean pot made in China?

I love the color of this Bean Pot. I only received 2 weeks ago so have not made beans but they are soaking as I type. I especially like the fact that the top of this pot is so wide. The traditional Bean Pot is so dark because of the narrow top that it makes for a truly hard cleaning but this is bright and beautiful. A truly sunny piece of pottery to be added to my kitchen. clicked wrong button a real "5"
