I am pleased with the product. Before ordering I read other's reviews and saw that is "wasn't your mother's corning ware." With that in mind, neither is a washing machine or refrigerator~ they USED to last for 25-30 years. The price was excellent and they serve the purpose of good every day corning ware. The finish isn't like it was 30 years ago, when I got my first corning ware, which is still in great condition~ but all in all a good overall bargain.
a fly in the ointment - Review written on February 28, 2008

These pieces look nice. You can put them in the refrigerator or microwave and take them out of the oven without worrying about cracking. I can also use the small dishes to store peanuts. But, the glass cover and the big round dish don't match very well, and it is the only fly in the ointment.

I understand the negative reviews. I bought a french white CorningWare set from someplace else and I, too, am not pleased. The glass lids don't even fit right on the bakeware. There are gaps between the dish and the lid. I don't use them as much as I thought I would.

I'm very happy with my dishes. They are the right size and they had a lid for bakeing and one for the refrigater. I'd recommend this dishes to anyone looking for a good buy.
not your mother's CorningWare - Review written on January 26, 2008

Be careful with the new CorningWare (as well as the new Pyrex). It is not the same quality as what your mother used to use (and may still use). The new stuff is OK for refrigerator and microwave use. Oven and freezer use is risky. The stove is definitely out. This set is probably worth the ten dollar sale price, but not more than that.
NOT like the original Corningware! - Review written on January 25, 2008

If you remember Mom or Grandma's wonderful CorningWare...freezer to stove top or oven..back to refrigerator, etc. and are looking for your own...BEWARE!!! This corning ware is not the same; it is stoneware (not glass and ceramic) BAKE WARE. As a result of the change of manufacture, it cannot be used on a stove top or broiler or any other direct heating sources per it's own instructions! It has so many breakage disclaimers in it's packaging it's a wonder anyone would buy it! I was unaware that CorningWare had sold it's brand name to another company that obviously changed the quality of the product! Also, this is not USA made even though the wording on the description "Designed by CorningWare, one of the most recognized and respected brands of oven/bakeware in the U.S." would mislead you to believe. I bought a large set of this newer version corningware only to be extremely disappointed with the quality! I have been trying hard to avoid products that may contain harmful undetected substances in the manufacturing process. Now I find myself with a box full of baking stoneware with GLAZING that has obvious flaws. I don't feel safe using it. It's cheap, but at what long term price? Just so you know! The one star is because the set arrived quickly and intact from Amazon.

These casseroles were a great value for the money and the smaller ones are great for leftovers and lunch boxes.
Nothing like the original :-( - Review written on December 08, 2007

I've owned French White for years and years, and they were the first casserole dish I always reached for. We had a mishap, broke my 10+ year old large oval casserole and replaced it with a new full set.
What a disappointment!!! CorningWare has changed something in their process or raw materials. The new dishes have tiny little "pits" in them that allows water to penetrate underneath the glaze. It looks unsightly when serving. The heft and feel aren't the same. Neither is the quality. You can tell the new pieces, as the bottoms have a ridge molded into the base. The older pieces are completely flat.
Using the new large oval dish, my adult daughter removed a full dish on lasagna from the oven and set it on a room temperature (burners turned off)stove top to cool. The dish shattered into pieces, and we had to throw everything out. CorningWare sent a replacement at no charge. The new dish has the same defects as the one that shattered.
I've been shopping at thrift stores and have managed to find older pieces. So disappointing the manufacture has cheapened/changed what was once a fabulous can't-live-without product.
