As good a song as See Emily Play is-----[ and it isn't on this cd ] it is still only a "pop" song. I listen to Pink Floyd for the ACID ROCK music they made such as Astronomy Domine and Interstellar Overdrive. This is still a great album but nowhere near as great as More. Many people thought that all More was.... was a sound track. Too bad they never took the time to really listen to it. Pink Floyd actually has more of a jazz influence than many people realize. All of the early Pink Floyd albums are fantastic....up until The Wall when they became waaaay toooo political for my taste. That isn't to say they didn't create great music because everything they have ever done is great. I have been listening to them since 1969 and even saw them in Seattle at the Moore Theatre in 1970 [among at least 6 other times at various venues {including San Diego in 1975} until about 1978]and I never, ever tire of listening to their music. Buy all of their early music and experience many aural wonders!!!!

The first track on the 1967 American release of "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" [Tower ST 5093] is the Syd Barrett gem, "See Emily Play." This is arguably the best song the Floyd ever recorded, but in England it was originally released only as a single. Since this new 2 cd re-release of Piper is the English album, "Emily" is not included. Floyd lovers may prefer to purchase the 3 cd set, "LIMITED EDITION - EXTRA TRACKS" scheduled for 9/11/07 release which includes "Emily" along with other singles from the period.

Please note that See Emily Play isn't on this cd, so it isn't a true anniversary release. Still- how can one resist?
