Not designed for iPod Shuffle - Review written on January 08, 2008

This set of amplified speakers works, but if you were hoping for something specifically tailored to the iPod Shuffle, skip it. The photo, showing a larger iPod, is telling. This product is really designed for other iPods, with Shuffle support an afterthought.
When used with a Shuffle, the remote control buttons on the exterior mostly don't work: you can adjust the volume of the amplifier, but not the volume of the Shuffle itself. You can't pause the song, repeat it, or skip to the next one. If you turn off the speakers, the Shuffle keeps playing.
The Shuffle is held in place by a foam insert within the space for a larger iPod, along with an elastic strap. You must be very careful how you position the Shuffle, or closing the cover will activate its controls. For example, you might inadvertently reduce the volume all the way, and again, you can't turn it up from outside. Also, when using a Shuffle, or any other portable device with a mini-phone plug, the plug sticks out so that you can't close the Velcro flap.
If I can find the box, I may send this one back. The appeal of iPod devices and accessories lies in smooth, pleasing ergonomics. The only thing pleasing here is the colorful appearance; the details are disappointing.
