Have a spare shaver ready, problems after 13 months, lenghty time to repair - Review written on November 07, 2008

There is no question that this is a good shaver, but be ready for problems down the road. After 13 months (still within 2 year warranty), the motor would stop dead in mid-shave, especially when there are 3-4 bars in the charge indicator. It seemed to increase in speed before quitting. Would re-start immediately at full speed, but then die again within 10-20 seconds.
Also, the slide-up trimmer spring mechanism is jamming - not allowing the door to close flush with the shaver body. You have to hold down the door with your thumb while shaving.
Brought to Braun authorized repair store, they have had it for 3 weeks so far. I called them today, waited on hold for 20 minutes, rep said they are still "waiting for parts". I asked if they were coming from Germany? she laughed....."no".
A $225+ shaver only lasts for 13 months before needing repairs, and will probably take ONE MONTH to repair. SHAME ON YOU, BRAUN! I am truly disappointed.
Exact same problems in an 8/16 review.

2 days after I ordered this from Amazon, they dropped the price five dollars. I called them up for a price differential credit, which was refused by 2 customer service reps and their supervisors. They said that on September 1, 2008, Amazon had eliminated their 30 day price differential credit policy. When I asked where I could find this change detailed on their site (they have had this policy since Amazon opened), they said it wasn't there.
I wrote to Jeff Bezos. His assistant replied to me, and politely refused the $5 refund. I asked where the updated policy could be found, and was told that since there was no longer such a policy, no mention of it can be found on their website.
I suggest you buy this product from a merchant who is both more upfront about their policies, and more concerned with customer satisfaction, which sadly at one time would have been Amazon.

Beware of reviews which rate this product after using it for a short period of time. The razor itself works well, very close shave, on all lengths of hair. But in time things fall apart.
The construction is VERY flimsy. In the first week that I owned it, the lock that keeps the swivel head in place broke, permanently. Yes, it was under warranty and I could have exchanged it then, but I needed to travel, and it didn't seem "that" big of a deal. It's been annoying, but it doesn't affect the shave.
Now, a year on, the trimmer, which is meant to pop up when needed, and then snap back into place when you are not using it, is in a permanent "up" position and will not close. This means that the blades are vibrating and eating up more battery juice, causing users to charge more often.
I hate it when plastic is made to look like metal and doesn't perform in even the simplest manner! I think the entire device will likely begin to disintegrate in a few more months.
Braun should take care with the construction and give it the same attention that they give to the actual cutting edges.
Final analysis: shaves well, but destined to break apart, bit by bit. Not what one expects when paying this much money. I'm going back to Panasonic for my next purchase.
Great Shaver - Review written on September 30, 2008

This shaver is as close on most areas as when I use my Gillette Fusion Power (5 blades). There are a few areas on my neck that the hairs lay so close to the skin, it takes probably five strokes, or a twisting action to get it close. But, there is NO discomfort with the Braun Pulsonic as there is with a blade. Some people say the cleaning system is not as good as the razor, being expensive, noisy, etc. I agree that it is rather noisy, but if you think about the ease of use factor, it's not that expensive. The cleaning system cleans, lubricates, and dries the shaver, and very well at that. You don't have to worry about leaving it open to dry after rinsing it clean, or lubricating it once a week, since the water doesn't lubricate it. The solution has a semi-pleasant, citrus smell. The unit remembers how much it's been run since the last cleaning, and the base adjusts the cleaning cycle to that.
Pros:
easy to use
comfortable on your face
ergonomical (for me anyway)
close (let your face get used to it for a while before you judge)
built very solid
cartridges of solution make for easy changing (no bottles to mess with)
base is reasonably sized, especially compared to a cleaning base for a rotary shaver, which doesn't heat dry it
has a lcd to remind you when to change the foil and cutter
Cons:
Cleaning cycles are reasonably noisy
cleaning cartridges represent additional expense (although only about $5.50 a cartridge, which should last almost two months if you clean every other shave, {get it down so there's two bars left in the hygiene meter, so it'll stay on the normal clean cycle.})
Final Thoughts:
I paid $130 two years ago for a self cleaning rotary shaver. this is not even twice the price, and is MUCH more than twice as good. I will never go back to a rotary. Reasonably priced, although it could be a little cheaper, maybe around $180 would be the price at which I wouldn't go with ANYTHING else.
