Rihanna isn't really a great singer, and you realize this quickly after watching her sing live again and again. I've never been a big fan of her music, but this album really just isn't cutting it. She is Pop/R&B for the moment, until someone else comes along as she came along on Christina Millian, Amerie, Kelly Rowland, & other singers. They all have the same bad break-up songs & happy make-up songs. I don't know what makes Rihanna so different or better than Kelly, Amerie, Christinia Millian or Ashanti.

"Good Girl Gone Bad" has to be Rihanna's greatest album ever. It's got a mixture of dance, pop, and R&B. The songs are amazing and Rihanna sounds better than ever. Here are my favorite songs from this album:
1.) Umbrella: Luv that song! Catchy tune, catchy lyrics. Who would love this?
2.) Don't Stop the Music: It has to be THE biggest dance song of the 2000's.
3.) Hate That I Love You So: I luv this song! Rihanna and Ne-Yo sound so sweet and it's got that great guitar music in the song. Luv it so much!
4.) Question Existing: The song is good, but the lyrics are kinda hard to understand. I think she's talking about how she's normal like everyone else and how it's like being in the spotlight and trying to figure out which people to trust or not to trust.
5.) Good Girl Gone Bad: Good song with great guitar music. I love the part in the song where she sings, "You better learn how to treat us right, 'cause once a good girl goes bad, we die forever."
All in all, Rihanna did a great job on this album. She is one of the most amazingly talented female singers of all time!
Funky, unique, fresh, and fun; all in one! - Review written on February 18, 2008

Funky. Fresh. Unique. and fun!
These are the elements that make up Rihanna's latest album, "Good Girl Gone Bad". When I purchased this album for my younger sister, I immediatly loved it. Her hit, "Shut up and drive" is entertaining and unique, a great combonation!^_^. Her song, "Please don't stop the music" is totally hyper and like nothing I have EVER heard before!:) Her track, "Hate that I love you" is OK, and I, personally think that Ne-Yo sounds stupid in it, but that's just me ;-). Her song, "Breakin' Dishes" gives me a head ache!
Rihanna's style of music for this album has definitely changed since her other album, "A girl like me".
Overall, this album rocked at first, but then got a little annoying and dumb *rolls eyes*. Hmmm..... well it's pretty iffy about me recomending it for you. But I would gladly return it back if I had it (like I said, it's my sister's), but my sister LOVES it! So yeah, it's pretty EVEN.

Rihanna's third album, "Good Girl Gone Bad" is entirely front loaded. The first six tracks are the strongest of the lot followed by the back six in which the quality is noticeably diminished. Of the first six tracks, three are borrowed from other artists. For example, "Push Up On Me" contains an interpolation of Lionel Richie's 1983 hit "Running With The Night". This is followed by "Don't Stop The Music" which contains an interpolation of Michael Jackson's 1982 hit "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'". Finally, "Shut Up And Drive" contains an interpolation of New Order's 1983 hit "Blue Monday". this aside, at times I was reminded of other artist whilst listening to "Good Girl Gone Bad" like Justin Timberlake on "Rehab" or Nelly Furtado on "Breakin' Dishes". On other songs I heard Lisa Lisa And Cult Jam.
This all amounts to a half baked pop album. Rihanna has vocal talent, she just needs to have better songs. At 19, she has plenty of room to grow. For now, "Good Girl Gone Bad" is just average. I'd like to see her write her own lyrics and stop using producers who borrow rather than create. Similar artists such as Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, George Michael all started off at early ages and were able to create new music rather than borrow from old music. Three stars for the entertaining and catchy first half.

The state of today's "music" is pitiful! Rihanna and every other young girl/guy today SOUNDS ALIKE! It's a whiny, monotonous kind of sound with banal, kid-like lyrics being repeated over and over with a definite hip/hop beat that is truly annoying.
This stuff is being nominated for Grammy Awards! For years, the Grammys have sworn that they nominate "the best" which is not based on record sales. But, if you'll notice, all of the nominees are best sellers. I cannot imagine "artists" like Rihanna, Justin Timerlake and Beyonce marching up to receive the highest HONOR music has to offer. Is THIS the BEST America has to offer? It cheapens the award, reducing it to the same level as the Billboard and American Music Awards, which are honest about their awards being for sales only. The awful part is that artists with REAL singing talent sit at home watching this disaster, as one no-talent after another treks up to accept these awards.
What Happened To Great Music? Will it ever return? How do we run these hip/hop phonies out of town!!!!!!??????

With each new album, Rihanna's star seems to get higher and higher. While her latest album Good Girl Gone Bad isn't classic material, there are still enough good moments to find on here.
amerdale876's review is pretty accurate, but in any case, I'm wondering if the title of this album comes from the fact that Rihanna has gone back to wearing provocative attire (or sometimes, nothing at all -- check the "Umbrella" video at the second chorus; man, Chris Applebaum has got to be the luckiest guy in the WORLD!) ...(*clearing throat*) Anyway, speaking of that, that song became a #1 hit for good reason, but I don't quite understand why Jay-Z is credited as a guest star when all he's doing is talking at the beginning of the song. Oh, well; the singles are actually the best songs, like "Shut Up and Drive" and the Ne-Yo duet "Hate That I Love You".
That's not to say the rest of the songs are skippable. In fact, the last three songs are the most innovative: "Rehab" (supposedly featuring Justin Timberlake, because I don't remember hearing him in the song), "Question Existing" and the title track. But there are a couple of songs that I CAN do without. "Say It" lazily uses Mad Cobra's "Flex" as a backdrop, and "Breakin' Dishes" almost had me breakin' my fast-forward button.
Everything else is okay, but when it all comes down to it, if Rihanna really wants that classic release, maybe she should stop churning out an album every year. This is far from being a bad album, but huge fans of Rihanna will enjoy it best while everyone else will probably just say it's aiight.

Umbrella (Feat. Jay-Z), Don't Stop The Music, Shut Up And Drive, Hate That I Love You (Feat. the poetic Ne-Yo), Say It and Rehab are the highlights.
Avoid Push Up On Me, Breaking Dishes, Sell Me Candy, Lemme Get That (her worst song ever) and Question Existing like the bubonic plague.
Yes, the above songs are all filler. It doesn't help the fact that Rihanna Fenty doesn't even try to write her own songs. And until she does, she will fail to be more than an entertainer. I don't understand anyone who doesn't even want to attempt to write a decent song these days.
