Im sorry but Rihanna has to be one of the most OVERRATED ARTIST out there today... Her vocals, live and on record, are horrible! This CD is just filled with annoying songs that surprisingly make hits?!?!

Year after year Rihanna chooses to put out crap.. She has about one or two hits from each CD and then puts out a new one... for example

1. Music of the Sun - Pon De Replay -
less than a year later here comes

2. A Girl Like me - SOS [it sounds like a record on repeat..SOS please somone help me over and over again.. TRASH]
-Unfaithful: Stop the crying.. a song that i have to turn off to stop my ears from bleeding
-We Ride: Should have been called we flop... this track could have been a banger if someone with stronger vocals sang it..

3. Good Girl Gone Bad - HAS TO BE ONE OF THE WORST ALBUMS OF 07-08
-Lead Single: Umbrella - Umbrella is one of those songs that just made is because she had on it, at the time hot rapper JAY-Z, even with out him on it the track still sounded like she was in pain.
-Don't Stop The Music: Where do i begin with this HOMO-loving song?!?! There is nothing good about this song.. this song is just trash
-Shut & Drive: Like DONT STOP THE MUSIC is trash.
-Hate That I Love You: NEYO sounds great on this album [he should have gave this song to a person with better vocals as well] Rihanna sounds like she is hurting.. not to mention the video was wack..

Then she went on to Re-Release GOOD GIRL GONE BAD for some reason to add a few tracks...Nothing to excited

- Take A Bow: Has to be one of her better works... she DOES NOT by any means sound amazing on it but it is decent.

IN ALL THIS ALBUM IS NOT WORTH THE HYPE... RIHANNA IS NOT TALENTED AT ALL... ITS REALLY SAD THAT FEMALE ARTIST WHO CAN REALLY SING LACK BACK UP FROM THEIR RECORD LABELS BUT FEMALE ARTIST WHO LACK IN THE SINGING DEPARTMENT ARE HYPED ABOUT ALL THE TIME

I got to give it up to Rhianna. I will admit that she really didn't catch my attention until I saw her perform "I don't want to be a murderer" at the world music award. She was in rare form for a relatively new artist. Her attire and demeanor was striking. On this new album, Unbrella is a true standout, her video performance is just icing on the cake. Other's like, Don't Stop The Music, Shut Up And Drive, Breakin Dishes, and the duo Hate That I Love You w/Neo and standout's as well. This is a very strong pop album with crossover R & B elements. So far her recordings are making a strong presence and is truly the way to build a music career. She is also very beautiful in a very subtle but noticible way. Her eyes are very striking. And if the word about her and Chris Brown are true I think they make a very nice couple and appear to be equally cloaked,i.e.compatable.

About half of this cd is really good. I like the first 5 songs, notably "Umbrella", "Push Up On It" and "Don't Stop the Music". The rest of the songs are pretty ghetto sounding, I think Rhianna needs to step it up and do more dance music like Madonna did on "Hard Candy". The ghetto thang is gettin' old. The song "Good Gurl Gone Bad" had potential, but it needed better vocals and a better beat. That being said, I hope Rhianna's next release has a fresh new beat that we've never heard b4.

After hearing the NON RAP version of "Umbrella", I was impressed so I dwelled into this artist. This album is nothing but sampling gone wrong. This entire collection is nothing but hip/hop fodder and isn't worthy of the chart success it's had. Shut up and drive, just shut up. The nasal vocals are enough to drive one mad.

Rihanna isn't really a great singer, and you realize this quickly after watching her sing live again and again. I've never been a big fan of her music, but this album really just isn't cutting it. She is Pop/R&B for the moment, until someone else comes along as she came along on Christina Millian, Amerie, Kelly Rowland, & other singers. They all have the same bad break-up songs & happy make-up songs. I don't know what makes Rihanna so different or better than Kelly, Amerie, Christinia Millian or Ashanti.

"Good Girl Gone Bad" has to be Rihanna's greatest album ever. It's got a mixture of dance, pop, and R&B. The songs are amazing and Rihanna sounds better than ever. Here are my favorite songs from this album:

1.) Umbrella: Luv that song! Catchy tune, catchy lyrics. Who would love this?
2.) Don't Stop the Music: It has to be THE biggest dance song of the 2000's.
3.) Hate That I Love You So: I luv this song! Rihanna and Ne-Yo sound so sweet and it's got that great guitar music in the song. Luv it so much!
4.) Question Existing: The song is good, but the lyrics are kinda hard to understand. I think she's talking about how she's normal like everyone else and how it's like being in the spotlight and trying to figure out which people to trust or not to trust.
5.) Good Girl Gone Bad: Good song with great guitar music. I love the part in the song where she sings, "You better learn how to treat us right, 'cause once a good girl goes bad, we die forever."

All in all, Rihanna did a great job on this album. She is one of the most amazingly talented female singers of all time!

A 1 TRICK PONY!!!!! She realizes her albums only get carried by how addictive & well produced the 1st single is. I can see why she releases a new album every year. 1 song doesn't make a great album and doesn't carry it to multi platinum success. Every commercial artist these days seem to be releasing DUD albums. It's so hard to even find 4 to 5 songs that are good on any new release these days. Beyonce please take note that 10 songs does not make an album. Cassie 9 songs & 2 interludes do not make an album. As for Rihanna, your strength lies in great POP tracks. Please don't try with the ballads. In the song Unfaithful you sound like your whining non stop. Now please stick to what your good at and it's called great POP songs without a trace of R&B because I don't hear the R&B in your voice at all.

"Umbrella" is the only song on the whole album I liked because the rest sounded like utterly forgettable filler junk. What happenned?? "Umbrella" is nice pop-rock tune that suited Rihanna's average voice well and made her sound better. It's too bad her whole album wasn't written in mostly the same genre.

When I first heard Rihanna's hit "Umbrella" Ella, Ella A A A. I thought........ here we go again, another (one hit wonder) with a catchy pop tune for the MTV Crowd.
But a few months later she released another up-tempo dance tune "Don't Stop The Music" And I couldn't ignore her talent anymore. With "Don't stop the Music" she samples the unforgettable "Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa" from Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Starting Some Thing". The is a tune I am jamming to right now, titled "SOS" from A `Girl Like Me"

I finally bought the album at Amazon. com digital download and made a copy for myself and my boy friend. We listen to it almost everyday. We are not spammer's we are poor making minimal wage. So this is a real review.

Keep it coming Rihanna. We love your music and your videos and your talent.

Never falling back on old moves, she has really crafted the finest disc of her short career. This album is the kind of music that builds longevity, and now there ain't no looking back. This album has been certified Platinum.

Funky. Fresh. Unique. and fun!
These are the elements that make up Rihanna's latest album, "Good Girl Gone Bad". When I purchased this album for my younger sister, I immediatly loved it. Her hit, "Shut up and drive" is entertaining and unique, a great combonation!^_^. Her song, "Please don't stop the music" is totally hyper and like nothing I have EVER heard before!:) Her track, "Hate that I love you" is OK, and I, personally think that Ne-Yo sounds stupid in it, but that's just me ;-). Her song, "Breakin' Dishes" gives me a head ache!
Rihanna's style of music for this album has definitely changed since her other album, "A girl like me".

Overall, this album rocked at first, but then got a little annoying and dumb *rolls eyes*. Hmmm..... well it's pretty iffy about me recomending it for you. But I would gladly return it back if I had it (like I said, it's my sister's), but my sister LOVES it! So yeah, it's pretty EVEN.

Figuring there had to be other cool songs on it.Don't Stop The Music,Rehab and Good Girl Gone Bad are the other highlights on this fine pop album.Must also admit, her look is dazzling.I look forward to her next effort .She has a new fan.I give the album solid 4 for crafty pop music. Go out and get it now,if you have been hesitant. It is real good.

Rihanna's third album, "Good Girl Gone Bad" is entirely front loaded. The first six tracks are the strongest of the lot followed by the back six in which the quality is noticeably diminished. Of the first six tracks, three are borrowed from other artists. For example, "Push Up On Me" contains an interpolation of Lionel Richie's 1983 hit "Running With The Night". This is followed by "Don't Stop The Music" which contains an interpolation of Michael Jackson's 1982 hit "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'". Finally, "Shut Up And Drive" contains an interpolation of New Order's 1983 hit "Blue Monday". this aside, at times I was reminded of other artist whilst listening to "Good Girl Gone Bad" like Justin Timberlake on "Rehab" or Nelly Furtado on "Breakin' Dishes". On other songs I heard Lisa Lisa And Cult Jam.

This all amounts to a half baked pop album. Rihanna has vocal talent, she just needs to have better songs. At 19, she has plenty of room to grow. For now, "Good Girl Gone Bad" is just average. I'd like to see her write her own lyrics and stop using producers who borrow rather than create. Similar artists such as Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, George Michael all started off at early ages and were able to create new music rather than borrow from old music. Three stars for the entertaining and catchy first half.

A true quality album by an artist who's star continues to rise! There really isn't a bad track on this album. The production is tight and polished. This day in age it's hard to separate yourself from the rest of the pack but Rihanna certainly does with tracks such as "Umbrella" and "Don't Stop the Music" the bonifide hits of the album. The nice thing I also enjoyed is the range that she is able to demonstrate from the somber "Rehab" to the nice rock sound of "Shut Up and Drive". An excellent album of music that I would recommend for people that appreciate a talented artist that interprets a great sound.

I have to admit: at first, I really didn't like Rihanna. The only songs that I liked by her were SOS and Break It Off. After buying this album, my whole perspective changed about her. This album is awesome, although there are a few songs that I dislike such as Push Up On Me and Question Existing. Other than that, I like the rest of the tracks. Here's the listing:
1. Umbrealla (feat. Jay-Z): one of the hottest songs of the summer. She really didn't need Jay-Z to rap in this song.
2. Push Up On Me: I hate it!! Sounds too 80s for me.
3. Don't Stop The Music: my favorite track! I like how she samples Michael Jackson's chant (Mama se, mama sa, mama koosa) from Wanna Be Startin' Somethin. This song is definitely a club hit!
4. Breakin' Dishes: good song to workout to. You really don't wanna piss Miss Rihanna off!
5. Shut Up & Drive: another great song to workout to. It gets the adrenaline rushing when you're driving!
6. Hate That I Love You (feat. Ne-Yo): this song is okay for me. It has the same beat from Ne-Yo's Sexy Love.
7. Say It: another one of my jams. She samples Mad Cobra's Flex (Time To Have Sex).
8. Sell Me Candy: the beat is hot! Courtesy of Timbaland.
9. Lemme Get That: a cool reggae with some pretty interesting lyrics.
10. Rehab: the lyrics are awesome and it reminds me of What Goes Around...Comes Around by my boy JT.
11.Question Existing: HATE IT!
12. Good Girl Gone Bad: the song is decent.
Overall, it's not a bad CD, however I would take out Push Up On Me and Question Existing.

Rihanna has really grown with this album and you can tell she's had more input and is learning who she really is. There are several great songs on this album, it's not a CD that you love 1-2 songs, there are several good radio-play songs but the others are fun and creative too. Rihanna has a great fairytale story--amazing what she's accomplished in just 3 years, a Cover Girl and six Grammy nominations for this album--sounds like a great year!

The state of today's "music" is pitiful! Rihanna and every other young girl/guy today SOUNDS ALIKE! It's a whiny, monotonous kind of sound with banal, kid-like lyrics being repeated over and over with a definite hip/hop beat that is truly annoying.

This stuff is being nominated for Grammy Awards! For years, the Grammys have sworn that they nominate "the best" which is not based on record sales. But, if you'll notice, all of the nominees are best sellers. I cannot imagine "artists" like Rihanna, Justin Timerlake and Beyonce marching up to receive the highest HONOR music has to offer. Is THIS the BEST America has to offer? It cheapens the award, reducing it to the same level as the Billboard and American Music Awards, which are honest about their awards being for sales only. The awful part is that artists with REAL singing talent sit at home watching this disaster, as one no-talent after another treks up to accept these awards.

What Happened To Great Music? Will it ever return? How do we run these hip/hop phonies out of town!!!!!!??????

I normally don't review new Pop/R&B artists albums but a friend of mine gave me a copy of this album that he burned from ITunes. Even though this is not my type of music I can appreciate the fact that its well produced. It sort of reminds me of the 80's R&B I grew up on. I'm 29 so keep in mind my opinion might be slightly jaded. I'm not familiar with Robin/Rihanna's previous work but from what little I've seen of her she's got the triple threat package going for her: singing, dancing and beauty. She's not a vocal powerhouse and she won't be the next Whitney Houston or Aretha Franklin but I think she knows that. However, her vocals are strong enough to carry the tracks produced for her and she does have a very unique voice. Thats really the key in the music business these days, having a signature sound that stands out so that people will know its you when they hear you. Its good for what it is, good dance music for this younger generation. They don't really care about strong vocals anyway, they just want to hear a good beat and an infectious groove. This album definitely delivers that. Not to discredit Rihanna because I don't think her vocals are horrible by any means. Especially not compared to some of the other female artists out there today. But I'm old school so you have to keep in mind that I'm judging them on a different scale. I'm looking past the looks and moves. I think her vocals are perfect for the type of music that she does and if she sticks to that she will be o.k. and will have a pretty successful career. She already has a large fan base amongst young people and thats really her niche. Overall I'd say its worth buying if you're into this type of music but for me I'll stick to Shallamar, Atlantic Starr, Cameo and the rest of the Old School artists. Hey, get in where you fit in. Music is changing I just don't want to change with it. Guess I'm getting old. Peace!!!!

With each new album, Rihanna's star seems to get higher and higher. While her latest album Good Girl Gone Bad isn't classic material, there are still enough good moments to find on here.

amerdale876's review is pretty accurate, but in any case, I'm wondering if the title of this album comes from the fact that Rihanna has gone back to wearing provocative attire (or sometimes, nothing at all -- check the "Umbrella" video at the second chorus; man, Chris Applebaum has got to be the luckiest guy in the WORLD!) ...(*clearing throat*) Anyway, speaking of that, that song became a #1 hit for good reason, but I don't quite understand why Jay-Z is credited as a guest star when all he's doing is talking at the beginning of the song. Oh, well; the singles are actually the best songs, like "Shut Up and Drive" and the Ne-Yo duet "Hate That I Love You".

That's not to say the rest of the songs are skippable. In fact, the last three songs are the most innovative: "Rehab" (supposedly featuring Justin Timberlake, because I don't remember hearing him in the song), "Question Existing" and the title track. But there are a couple of songs that I CAN do without. "Say It" lazily uses Mad Cobra's "Flex" as a backdrop, and "Breakin' Dishes" almost had me breakin' my fast-forward button.

Everything else is okay, but when it all comes down to it, if Rihanna really wants that classic release, maybe she should stop churning out an album every year. This is far from being a bad album, but huge fans of Rihanna will enjoy it best while everyone else will probably just say it's aiight.

Umbrella (Feat. Jay-Z), Don't Stop The Music, Shut Up And Drive, Hate That I Love You (Feat. the poetic Ne-Yo), Say It and Rehab are the highlights.

Avoid Push Up On Me, Breaking Dishes, Sell Me Candy, Lemme Get That (her worst song ever) and Question Existing like the bubonic plague.

Yes, the above songs are all filler. It doesn't help the fact that Rihanna Fenty doesn't even try to write her own songs. And until she does, she will fail to be more than an entertainer. I don't understand anyone who doesn't even want to attempt to write a decent song these days.
