For me, batteries has always got to be genuine or originals. From digital cameras to notebooks to cell phones. Just had too much bad experiences with no brand power sources which includes the charger. Tested this item and it holds charge and has not leaked in my Camera. ;)

I learned the hard way in the past Buying the cheaper no name replacement batteries. They always seemed to work at first and as time went on they would screw the camera funtions up.

You should spend the extra money for the battery from the camera manufacturer you will know what to expect. There will be no suprises.

When you buy quality it long out lasts the thought of the couple of extra dollars you spent on it.

Speed, Quality and Easy to Use - Review written on June 24, 2008

I bought the Nikon D40x to eliminate shutter lag. I couldn't stand missing "the shot" due to the delay of ordinary digital cameras. I also wanted an on-camera flash with fast charging sync for continuous image shooting... even with 10mb sizes.

The Nikon D40x did everything with quality and speed. The menus are VERY EASY TO USE ON THE FLY. Some new features such as in the camera trimming with a large view monitor allow editing in the field.

This camera is one step below Nikon's professional series, but is about 1 1/2 lbs. lighter, and has every feature I needed for high end shooting. I bought an extra Nikon EN-ELS Rechargeable Lion Battery because I want the protection of never losing power to shoot at any event.

This is a top product from a great company.

I use this in my Nikon D60. The only reason I didn't give this battery 5 stars is that it is a bit pricey. Having said that however, I wouldn't buy any other battery for something as important as my digital camera. I've tried knock-offs before and have been very disapointed. This official Nikon battery however has not disappointed at all. It has a very good life and I never worry in a critial situation.

The charge seems to last forever... hundreds of shots anyway. My first digital camera could only take about 20 shots per battery charge. Things have come a long way!

It's the standard replacement battery for the Nikon D40 and D40x. Works just as designed. I will say that if you have a Nikon D40/x you should not have to worry about swapping batteries. I've been able to get a full day of shooting done on a single battery, although I do prefer the peace of mind of having a spare.
spare battery - Review written on March 23, 2008

Got to have a spare battery for your Nikon D40 when you are traveling as well as a spare memory card. This looks and is exactly the same battery that came with the D40. Since the D40 doesn't have live-view and a monitorized lense like a bridge SLR, these battery last forever, about 800-100 shots or more. But once in awhile the battery dies in a middle of a trip. Have no issues or battery fading yet (4 months).

Yes, you need a charged spare battery to protect you from Murphy's law. Keep the little white, plastic case it comes in to keep it from discharging in your camera bag.

I was in Australia recently where the current is 220 vs. 110 in NA. The battery in my camera ran out while I was taking pictures of Sydney. Thanks to its portability, I had an extra battery with me which saved the day. I had charged it at home, and I would have been hard pressed to charge it in Australia where you need a special adapter to convert the current to NA standards.

This is a good, reliable battery that last a long time. However, it is expensive. Amazon does sell 3rd party compatible batteries for 1/2 or even 1/3 the price that seem to work just as well. Just search for "EN-EL9".

I purchased this item and indicated I wanted it shipped via next day air; however, it was dispatched via regular mail. It took two weeks to receive it. But I did get it and that's the main thing I suppose. Don't want to make a big deal out of it. Live and learn.....

The battery was good. This battery allows me to take a few hundred pictures without being exhausted. The manual says about 500 pictures. I am very happy with the performance of this battery. I use the menuing system alot and thus the LCD display is used alot as am new to my camera and the battery certainly delivers on power requirements.

Amazon had the best price and I had to have the battery in 2 days and they were able to get it to me on time. Good battery. I already had one of these that came with my Nikon D40x unfortunately the repair shop my camera was shipped too accidentally forgot to ship my original battery back with my camera so I found this one on amazon and they had it to me just in time for a photo shoot. These batteries last a long time. Make sure the run them down all the way b/f each charge that way the battery life last longer. Its good to keep 2 of these on hand especially if you are a photographer that way you can let one die completely down and pop in the other one while you are still shooting.

Easy to use and rapid. Can be used on 220 Volts while travelling abroad and requires only an adapter for the outlets, alhtough I followed Nikon's recommendations and purchased a cord for use on a 220 Volt line. (These cable/cords can be found in stores abroad which sell cameras, electronic appliances and computers)

Spare battery for Nikon D40 SLR camera - Review written on October 27, 2007

Rating: 5 out of 5

I'm not sure why I need a spare EN-EL9 battery for my Nikon D40 SLR, which I just got. The reason is that the original last very long, between 300 to 400 shots, depending if you use flash or not. I guess one of the reason was the price. For a OEM battery, Amazon had the best price. I didn't even consider buying a non-Nikon brand. I read about other people having problem with them exploding, not holding a charge, etc. Not worth it. The extra battery gives me the security of not having to worry about loosing a charge away from home. Also the Li-ion battery doesn't loose charge like Ni-cad batteries.
A preference for the name brand battery - Review written on October 26, 2007

I liked the price on amazon, so I bought this Nikon brand battery for my new Nikon D40x 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens. So far, so good. The battery charges fairly fast and lasts a long time.

I'm a firm believer in having at least one extra rechargeable battery for a digital camera. If you take a lot of pictures, you have a good chance of your battery running low while you're out and about. If you don't use the camera often, you might take it to a special occasion without realizing that the battery's getting low. In either case, having a spare fully charged battery will help you avoid the frustration of having a dead camera at the wrong time and place.

I'm okay with paying a few extra bucks for the Nikon branded battery, based on my experience with two "no-name" rechargeables I bought a few years ago for my Nikon Coolpix 7900 camera. The "no-names" cost less than the Nikon brand battery. They charged up and worked just fine at first, and I rotated all 3 batteries through the camera, with roughly equal amounts of use and recharge cycles for the batteries. All rechargeable batteries eventually lose their ability to hold a charge, after going through a number of charge/discharge cycles. In the case of the Coolpix camera, the original Nikon battery outlasted both of the "no-name" generic batteries.

So based on my experience with those batteries, I'm sticking with the Nikon brand for the extra battery for my D40x, because I expect it to last through more charge/discharge cycles over its lifetime than a generic (and cheaper) equivalent battery.

I purchased this as a backup for my primary and found out that it charges a bit quicker than the one that came with the camera and the charge last about the same. So with this battery and the original I can photograph just about continually all day and hope I have enough disk to handle all the shots. Would recommend this one to any serious photographer.

I use D40x with 18-200 and 70-200 f/2.8 lenses, the battery doesn't last long and I can't shoot anymore when there is only one bar on the battery. The camera shooter is automatically released. I hope this battery lasts longer.

Nikon quality at a very good price for use with my d40x. Works as rated and lasts even longer when taken out of the camera when days may intervene with shooting. At this point, I feel that rotating two batteries will meet my shooting needs for some time.

Bad battery? - Review written on June 09, 2007

This is probably a complete fluke.

I fully charged the battery as instructed. It lasted one week and 102 pictures. I know these Lithium Ion batteries are supposed to "keep on running" (okay, different brand), but I'll bet they usually last a bit longer than that.

I'm going to give it another shot, so to speak.
