As noted by another reviewer, this video is not for beginners. One of the reasons is that it does not explain very well how to get into each pose or the proper pose form-Ana and Ravi just tell you to be careful. This is a bit problematic for people who have not done yoga before since proper pose form is very important for avoiding injury. They do not distinguish between the 'good' and the 'bad' pain of yoga and instead say things like (roughly quoted): we know this is hard but (yap yap yap, keep doing x, do it for your liver)....
While many of their words and directions are encouraging, at times Ravi sounds patronizing. This gets a bit annoying during a yoga workout, especially considering that Kundalini yoga is supposed to be especially empowering/useful for women.
The matrix is useful if you just want to do fifteen or twenty minutes of yoga, but there are not a lot of menu options to choose from, so in order to get an hour workout you have essentially one option. This dvd goes over seven poses of yoga, and focuses on each for a longer period of time, which allows you to build strength and endurance. This is the reason I gave it a two instead of a one. I will probably be returning it.
Sorry to say, I don't have a Kundalini yoga dvd that is better-have to do more research.

This year, Ravi and Ana became my favorite yoga instructors, and this was my favorite DVD of theirs to use. The foundations here are the Magnificent Seven postures (Baby, Camel, Shoulderstand, Rock/Hero, Stretch, Sat Kriya, and Cobra) done "kundalini style", or such that they are sequenced to open the chakras from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Anyone looking for backbends (which I love) or lower body work would be satisfied here. The abwork is also challenging, although they get the job done here with only two postures (Stretch Pose and supine leg pulleys). Almost all of this is approachable for someone with limited yoga experience, although the reclined hero/modified camel that they show should probably be very, very modified for at least the first five sessions.
As much as I love the physical practice, part of the reason I always joyfully return to this release is for the sa ta na ma meditation at the end. Although only about three or four minutes, it's just enough to contribute to the buzz the rest of this DVD generates. Not sure why the meditation is performed in a prone position, but it can be done seated with no deleterious effects :)
The only potential bummer here is that it's not broken up as some of their other releases are. Although it is divided in the menu as Yoga Set 1 and Yoga Set 2, the break seems arbitrary (done right in the middle of the two posture abdominal/third chakra set). However, since the entire disk takes 55 minutes (or 50, if you exclude the breath primer and the introductory words at the beginning), many time-crunched people should still be able to do this in its entirety. If even that much time can't be spared, then look into Ravi and Ana's Dance the Chakras- the yoga set on that desk feels like a mini-Yoga Beauty Body, and it's only 30 minutes long. But if you can, get this!

I bought Ana & Ravi's Yoga Beauty Body about a year ago. I had been doing ashtanga yoga or about a year prior to that, but I was tired of doing sun salutations all the time. I have YBB, Dance the Chakras, and Yoga Bliss Hips. I love them all, but I keep going back to Yoga Beauty Body. It's very complete and works the whole body in just under an hour. I feel calm, strong, and happy every time I do it. It's fun, and I actually WANT to do it every day. I LOVE the breath of fire! I always tell people that doing this workout makes me feel a "buzz" or tingling sensation. It's a yoga high!
More generally, yoga with Ana & Ravi is a mental as well as physical workout. Kundalini has helped me not only to reshape my body but also to redefine my relationship with food and myself, and as a result I've lost 40 pounds since I first purchased Yoga Beauty Body. I'm now much more aware of how different foods make me feel, and I'm also more aware of how much and what I need to eat. American society teaches women to dislike their bodies and have an adversarial relationship with themselves and with food, which I believe is what caused me to become overweight in the first place. Well, kundalini with Ana & Ravi has helped me to work through those feelings and accept myself just as I am-once I did that, the weight came off. Sounds corny, I know, but it's the absolute truth. I have more self confidence than I've ever had at any point in my life, and doing this yoga is at the root of this change. Kundalini with Ana & Ravi can be very powerful in helping you to improve your mind as well as your body and make the changes in your life that you need to make.
I highly recommend YBB and all of Ana & Ravi's DVDs. Kundalini with Ana & Ravia is amazing and I couldn't imagine a day without it!

Dance the Chakras has all the great features of the other Ana and Ravi DVD's I have and more. I can do most of the moves, and the class just flows, in spite of my scoliosis and other challenges. I feel the exercises are in a natural progression; therefore, I feel I am doing what comes naturally. The DVD is one hour, not too much.
The transitions/relaxations/meditations in between exercises are both welcome, and therapeutic. I am very impatient, and I thought I would resist succumbing to some long relaxations/meditations.
One of my favorite exercises is in the beginning when we bring our heels to the insides of our legs repeatedly, breathing with the rhythm, pulling in our feet, keeping the heels a bit away from the thighs.
I have difficulty with some physical exercise; I do not have a whole lot of energy, I am not very limber, and I have a curvature of the spine. Fortunately for me, as I began with Ana and Ravi's Kundalini Yoga for Beginners and Beyond around 9 months ago (virtually out of shape), I enjoy breath of fire, and have a capacity for most of the exercises in these DVD's.
I like the shoulder stand. It is not too risky for me to do that, and even to put my legs parallel. I have bone density issues and take the safe route. I adapt to most exercises in my own way, with the tips on the DVD, and still get a great workout. Ana and Ravi challenge me, yet do not push me without a cushion to fall back on.
I am 52 years old. If I can do it, I am sure a lot of people can. When the workout calls for me to lean all the way back and put my hands on my heels (camel pose?), I simply lift and stretch my neck back as far as I can while holding it still, lifting my chest, and holding my hands behind my upper hips. I still feel the workout. The breathing really stimulates me.
I always make sure I do the spinal exercises. As a whole, these DVD's help my back, but the fluidity of the spinal exercises make me aware that I am loosening up inside.
A great deal of emphasis is put on the glands and other organs in the body. I like when I know what I am working on when I am working it, and why.
The exercises are all good for the core! All of the DVD's have great tummy exercises.
This is not traditional Hatha yoga. The moves are just as strengthening and lengthening, though, and quite aerobic for me. I prefer this Kundalini Yoga because of the breathing, and the Chakra work. Also, the moves are more sensual. It is quite easy to get a good picture of what the Chakras mean when I do these DVD's.
The dancing, particularly the victory dance in Dance the Chakras is very feminine, and very empowering. I am really working! Great that I do not have to master the dances.
I wouldn't be doing Ana and Ravi justice without saying how beautiful Ana, the moves, the music and sound effects, the settings, the prose, and both their voices are. Still not doing justice. They both give inspiration and direction via voiceover, and you can even hear the correct breathing techniques, including long, deep breathing.
My favorites are, in order: Yoga Beauty Body, the new updated Fat Free Yoga, Dance the Chakras, Kundalini Yoga for Beginners and Beyond, The first set of Journey through the Chakras, the Ultimate Stretch Workout, and Navel Power.
I have not tried all of them, or the newest DVD's, but I can tell you that I will definitely try more of them.
Nope, I am not affiliated, just a tried and true customer.

This is far and away my favorite Kundalini yoga DVD thus far, and I have a huge collection including most of Ravi and Ana's prior projects. The music is lovely, the addition of Ana's comments and observations shifts the energy in the nicest way (though Ravi is a wonderful teacher as always) and the actual yoga set is just right. It's enough to get your energy moving, blood flowing and increase flexibility but it's not overwhelming or too intense. I found it to be a perfect DVD to do before bed, because by the end I felt as though every aspect of myself had been addressed; physical, emotional and spiritual. The meditation at the end was a new experience for me, and I'm a Kundalini teacher. The position was one I had not done before while silently chanting the mantra "sa-ta-na-ma" but it delivered me into pure bliss. I slept better, woke up feeling quite rested and alert and I am eagerly heading home to do it again tonight. I plan to make this a nightly pre-bedtime ritual for a while, because it's beautifully done and the Magnificent Seven series really is a great addition to everyone's day, male or female.
Now, I have seen sporadic negative feedback but I must point out that when you see a name ending in "Khalsa" that means the review is posted by a Sikh. I have the UTMOST respect for people of all faiths, uncluding Sikhism, but the Sikh yogis are definitely a bit more puritanical about their Kundalini. Understandably so. Yogi Bhajan was very strict and very clear about what he felt were right and wrong ways to practice and teach Kundalini, so he might not have been thrilled about certain aspects of these DVDs but I don't know about that. They present the sets in their purest form, without altering the order of asanas, and with great reverence and love for the science inherent in the yoga. The "packaging" might seem offensive or too commercial to some, but if it attracts more people who then become connected to the magic and healing of the work, does that matter? Isn't that being a bit judgemental? Why is the exposure of a healthy, radiant human body viewed as inherently sexual or inappropriate when I see Ana as a shining example of living in the light? She practices and teaches the yoga of awareness and eats primarily raw food. Personally, I never think twice about her attire (well, since the see-through tank tops were addressed, but again, how old are we all anyway?)
Ravi and Ana teach from their hearts, channel infinite wisdom through their words and bring a once obscure form of yoga into the lives of people who might not otherwise have this gift. In the context of all of that, does it matter whether they are sitting on a sheepskin or not? Sikh yogis will practice on a sheepskin but say it's wrong to eat meat...I have never been given a solid explanation about the hypocrisy of that, either. But I did not abandon all of Yogi Bhajan's teachings just because I didn't agree with a few aspects.
This is an extraordinary, loving presentation that will likely bring a great deal of light and joy into your life. Your eyes are closed most of the time anyway! ;)
By the end of the class, I was thanking Ravi, Ana, Yogi Bhajan, Guru Nanak, Guru Ram Das, and all of the Golden Chain who helped to bring this into my life (out loud). Isn't that kind of gratitude and joy the sign of a powerful, effective and well taught set?
Sat Nam, and enjoy the pure bliss.
**UPDATE**
I am currently doing a 40 day Sadhana, meaning I am doing this set daily for 40 continuous days as a method of erasing unhealthy old patterns and creating empowering new ones. Day one was tough because I'd been inactive for a little while and I felt it, but within 2 days I felt like a whole different person; sleeping better with a need for less sleep, waking up refreshed rather than tired and sluggish, great energy all day and doing the set is fun, not tough or uncomfortable. Nothing else seems to give me the same results as quickly or on as many levels as Kundalini yoga and this one in particular is such a joy...I'm excited to experience the next 35 days! This really does cover all the basics, inside and out. Odd as it might sound, it's as if I can feel my entire body smiling throughout. ;)

I have every DVD program that Ravi Singh & Ana Brett have released, & they just get better & better -- smoother, more professional, higher quality production. It is hard to imagine how they could top these last three.
When I began doing their first workout, Kundalini for Beginners & Beyond, I was a year beyond unsuccessful back surgery, in pain, & on drugs because of it. These workouts enabled me to get so far beyond back problems that it doesn't seem possible that I was ever so impeded.
Yoga's potential to help people with back problems is amazing, & Ravi & Ana's DVDs are a great place to start. Even if a movement is not specifically targeted to the back, yoga is so holistic that it works on many parts of the body at once, including the back.
