Perfect Practical Gift ... - Review written on March 30, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

This is a perfect practical gift especially when you need to keep the cost well under $50. Just about anyone who may need to do any kind of light repair will find this tool kit handy. It is especially ideal for condo, apartment, and dorm dwellers but, really, just about everyone will find this useful.

Unlike the cheap plastic (pink?) boxes that contain tools you can never fit back in the box right, these quality tools come in a bag that is rugged, good looking, and not too heavy. Plus, there is a little extra room. It tucks away just about anywhere.

Finally, a replacement for the old, ugly metal or plastic tool box with the undependable clasp!

I have been very pleased with this set of tools. I own a set of professional name brand tools and rank this set very high at only a fraction of the cost. Highly recommend.

Everything in one place in an easy-to-carry/easy-to-store bag. I wish I'd gotten it when I bought my condo. It would be a great gift for someone just moving out on their own. I'm sure glad I have it now!

Decent Tool Set for the handyman or woman! - Review written on March 01, 2008

all in all a good buy at 39.99. the bag is very rugged and has lots of little side pockets for the smaller tools and pieces that come in it. the only thing that is lacking is the lack of screwdrivers as the only one that comes with it is a multi-tool type that accepts lots of little tips, which come loose in the bag.some type of index similar to the denali 79-piece drill bit set would be good. the hammer, razor knife, drill bits, wrenches, level are all of very good quality, but being an electrician, i didnt really care for the pliers and diagonal cutters. they were of bargain basement quality and could be a little beefier and the handles which are like a dipped foam rubber grippy type substance could use some improvement. the tape measure is okay but it is only 16ft. long, which is good for around the house. but like i said it is very useful for around the house and the occasional side job. the bag is roomy and fits my cordless drill and charger, which makes it even more useful . this is a handy bag to have as a second set of tools, or for the weekend handyman.

This kit is a great value. It has everything you need but a power drill (oddly, drill bits are included). The canvas carrying case is very nice.

Not bad toolset, the best part of the kit is the bag. To be honest that is the main reason I brought the tool kit. It contains most tools you probably already have.

I was very surprised to find the quality of the tools as good as they are. Perfect for someone that needs to have just the right tool when needed. I not talking Mr/Ms Handyman here, but for those of us that need to take care of everyday things and it's all in one bag. The price was perfect too!

This is a decent tool kit for the price. The 16oz hammer, level, tape measure, utility knife and the screw driver are my favorite. The masonry drill bit set is kind of crappy. The 3/16 one was broken after 10 second use. I might used it the wrong way. But another 3/16 masonry drill bit I bought from home depot survived. Overall, I would recommend the tool kit at $40.

Good Starter Tool Set - Review written on January 09, 2008

Rating: 3 out of 5

I purchased this set for my 20 year-old son as he sets out in the world, and also so he stops "borrowing" my tools. It has a good collection of tools, most that would be needed in basic home repair. The screwdriver comes with just about all the different tips needed these days, which is nice. The hack saw blade with handle is nice. It can be used in those tight spaces.
It also came with drill bits, but no drill. This was odd. So the next item needed is a good cordless drill.
I judge this set on the hammer, the most basic and often used tool in existance. The call it heavy duty, but it has a fiberglass handle. This is an oxymoron as no hammer can be heavy duty with a fiberglass handle. Fiberglass can break. Be careful using this for anything other than putting small nails into light wood. Metal handled hammers are the preferred hammer. Actually, as I think about it, one should throw this thing away and buy a good Estwing hammer.

What can one expect from such a low priced tool set? It would be fine for work around the house, the weekend warrior. Definitely no where near professional quality. Got the set for my dad and he really likes. I have even borrowed a few things from it.
Denali 115-piece home repair kit - Review written on January 07, 2008

Rating: 4 out of 5

The product description is reasonably accurate. The 115-piece tool kit is a well thought out collection of essential tools for the most common do-it-yourself home repairs. A well made tool bag is also supplied that is compact, yet with extra capacity. The quality of the tools are above average for kits of this type. It seems that Denali understands that this kit represents the Company's emphasis on quality at a reasonable price.

Good product at a GREAT price!! I bought this for my boyfriend and he loves it! You won't find a complete kit like this at a Sears or a Home Depot - I looked! They only carry the "Champion" version made = in China and the overall quality was poor. These tools appear to be durable, padded grips - just high-end touches. If you had to purchase seperate tools to assembly this kit = $100's...Well worth the cost = FANTASTIC VALUE!
I bought it for the Bag...Man! - Review written on January 02, 2008

Rating: 4 out of 5

This is just your typical garden variety toolbox. Understand these are not Matco or Sears quality. But for the price and for what they were really intended to do, they are pretty fair. You won't build a house with these or repair your iron lung. But, for everyday fixit tasks in your home they are perfect. The bag is great. I like this much better than a couple of kits I got from Walmart.

The bag is the best part. There is a lot of room for you to add to your tool cache unlike the plastic case one that most automotive stores sell. I'm m highly recommend it for what it was intended to do.

Rating: 3 out of 5

Bought this as a gift based on the good reviews.

PROS:
1) Bag is nice -- keeps everything in one place.
2) Assortment is good -- all the basics are covered.

CONS:
1) Would have been better if all the little pieces were contained in plastic holders (only the drill bits are).
2) Everything is clearly marked "Made in China", which makes me question the quality, but it looks ok. The "superglue" holding the top on the hammer could have been mopped up better, and worries me a bit

Overall, satisfactory -- but if you're picky about a high quality looking set, this isn't for you.

Please don't expect Sears craftman quality from this tool set. The tool bag is very good and the selection of tools is great. OK tool quality. As a tool kit around the home for newlyweds and college dorm it is excellent and the price is right. The hammer feels unbalanced because it has a hollow handle. The razor cutter is excellent because it is simple to open and change the blade. If I had my druthers, I would have omitted the drill bits (why did they include drill bits?) and put in a better hammer.

Had got this product to do minor house work and keep things organized. Found the organization in the bag very confusing and the tools are very small only recommended for small work. Also the the sleaves are not named/marked for specific tools.

Would not recommended.

For the Very Basic of Home Improvement Needs - Review written on November 20, 2007

An excellent "bang for buck" set, it includes all the basic tools one would need to accomplish some common tasks in the home. The quality is better than what should be expected at this price. The kit only suffers from a few minor flaws.

The tool bag is simply a heavy duty bag in which to throw all your tools together in one place. The bag is good quality, durable but offers little in the way of organization. It is really a bag with 6 inner pockets, non of which are designed to hold any specific tool, so in the end all the pieces will lump together inside. As long as you don't add too many of your own tools in the bag, which there is ample room for, it shouldn't be difficult navigating for what you need.

The kit's 115 pieces, relies a few repetitive sets of bits. A close look at the product description will reveal that there are 2 sets of phillips drivers, one of which is called "Poszidriv" set, which are really just another set of phillips. If the Poszidriv set provides more torque and grip, why not simply include those and forget the others? Some might tell me they are for different screwdrivers, but for general around the house tasks, the average person would look at the bit set and see a world of repetition. 14 flathead bits is overkill and if you purchase the set you will understand when looking over all the bits offered. I think these bits were included to pump up a reasonable 80 piece set to 115.

The racheting handle of the screwdriver is a great feature, but when inserting the bits, there is no locking mechanism so when you pull the driver from its completed screw, the bit will stay on the bolt or screw you've just tightened. This happens on and off.

On the positive side, I agree with the other reviewers. The hammer is excellent quality, the pliers are sturdy and heavyweight. There is a good variety to open all kinds of screws so it goes beyond your average appliances. I purchased mine on a Friday sale for less than $30 so I feel it's an excellent value. Even at it's regular price of $40, I would say for a home that has no real set of tools, it is a great addition.

This set seems nice at first and admittedly a couple of the tools feel durable. However, within a few weeks the bits have started to corrode (just sitting) and the ratcheting screwdriver is broken. The bag seems durable but the inner pockets are small and mostly useless. The allen wrenches are small and flimsy.

I needed an inexpensive set of basic tools to use around the house and on my motorcycle. I looked at Craftsman and a few others, but they tended to be over $100 for all the items you get in this tool kit. After some hesitation, I ordered this one. It's a great, inexpensive starter set. The screw driver is awesome and there are enough interchangable heads to meet every possible need. Everything appears to be well made, and I've used various tools over the last few weeks. When it comes to value for the money, I definitely recommend this set of tools.

I've inherited tools from my father and brothers, but they were ususally old and worn out. They needed to be replaced, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money doing it.

I didn't think this tool kit would be too great for the price, but I thought this would get me by. I had no idea that I would be so impressed. This a very well gripped complete set of tools. Definitely worth the price - the bag is handy and keeps everything in one place - great for a disorganized person like me. Enjoy.

I bought this for a friend who got a new vacation house. He and his wife are city dwellers where the super fixes everything, so I knew they needed tools for their house. The Denali kit has very, very high quality parts in it. The hammer is heavy, the pliers and cutters are strong. The bag is a plus for them, because there is plenty of room inside for additional tools, and lots of pockets inside and out. The wife was happy they could put all their tools inside and zip it up, keeping it secure from their 1 year old.

Only improvements would be a small socket wrench that fits the supplied socket bits (the kit has a socket driver, but sometimes you need the torque of a true wrench). I also think the saw is strangely designed, but for the very light cutting it is meant for, it will work well enough.

Good tools but poorly organized in the bag. - Review written on July 05, 2007

So far i have liked the tools and quality of the tools. My only gripe is the bag. First, the quality of the bag is not great. I have already ripped a few of the inside pockets. Secondly and most importantly, when all the tools are placed in the bag there is no organization scheme. To get to tools normally have to empty most of the bag. The hammer also get in the way of putting things in to the inside pocket.
I would recommend the tools just not the bag and its organization of the tools.

I bought four of these tool kits for graduating senior boys. Of course initially they look at the gift and were quite underwhelmed. However, I have had many kids tell me how much they used them at college or in the car. This kit is great. I love the soft, but tough bag. The tools are great. High quality and a great mix.

I was worried when I ordered this that the quality would be poor because they were so cheap. I was surprised with the quality and have been using the tools around the house. My only complaint is I'd much rather have a tool box come with it than a bag. The bag is heavy duty, but you kind of have to dig around to find the tool you want. I thought the bits were of poor quality, but that's an easy fix I just went and got new ones at home depot. I would recommend this set for anyone who needs a set of tools for around the house.
