Great Edition! - Review written on June 16, 2008

I loved this because it's making it more realistic which is what I LOVE about the Sims (I'm into that life simulating stuff) and it's alot of fun to have pets around! Put I get overly tired of them destroying the furniture. So it all most becomes a pain but I guess pets can do that.

Since I'm not able to play it, I put 1 star, I put 5 stars for overall rating because the picture on the game looked fun. The reason is because I did not see anywhere on this amazon Sims 2: Pets page, that you had to have Sims 2 and whatnot in order to install it. Now I'm gonna have to buy, and install that damn Sims 2 game just so I can play this one. What a ripoff. Why do they give you two discs if you have to have another game with it all together?

So I love the Sims and The Sims 2 and own all of the expansions, but overall I believe that the Sims 2 Seasons and The Sims 2 Pets are two of the weakest.

Do not get me wrong, there are good points to this expansion, but they are not really worth the bad points.

I love the added aspect of having a pet, being able to own a pet store, getting your pet a job and all that, but really, it is almost the same as having a kid in the game, just one that is fuzzy and walks on all fours.

Also, this expansion, along with Seasons are two that really can slow your game a lot. The load time more than doubled for me when I added this expansion. I played it for awhile, then took it off of my system because it really did not add enough to the life of my Sims to bother with. Also, the added stray animals are really just annoying as all get out.

If you are a fan, it is worth checking out to see if you like it or not. My wife really like this expansion. I do not.

Expansion Pack adds new aspects of playability - Review written on May 15, 2008

I do like this expansion pack. I find the pets to be a lot of fun. This game is glitchy, so make sure you patch it at [...] so your pets don't get stuck in the floor and such. I like having children train the pets. They enjoy it, build social with the animal, and its awfully cute to see toddlers hug the pets. Free crazy cat lady with purchase!

LOVE Pets, it is one of the coolest expansions I have, you can create a cat or dog, have a bird or hamster, you can teach them tricks, walk them, there is a werewolf in this game though I have seen the dog he has to bite you to change you and he likes me. Love the SIMS

Finally, pets that stay alive, learn, and earn money! I love SIMS and SIMS 2 and both my daughter and I enjoy having pets added to our SIMS families. I thought there was plenty of the information included.

Creating pets is a nice addition to the game. Its also pretty fun being able to have a parrot or hamster (although you have to feed them a ridiculous amount of times during the day, or they keel over dead). This much, you probably know from reading the title.

The problem with the game, is this is really all there is too it. Yes, some new items are added, but really the only new game play features are the pets. So, its just alright. Yes, the pets are cute and fun, but they get old after a while, and without other new components, its not really that worthwhile unless you REALLY want the pets.

Also, just as a side note, the ability to have a puppy or kitten is pretty frustrating. You can't just buy a puppy or kitten from the store, nor can you create one yourself - you will either need to breed them, or adopt what few there are. there are only a few premade ones, that don't seem to be replenished. Choices are limited for adopting. For instance, there are only three kittens to adopt (which all look the same). The only way to add more kittens to the adoption pool is to raise two cats, have them have kittens, and give those up for adoption. In my book, thats kinda a chief flaw for a game that centers on the pets.

This is a great expansion pack! with it you can pick a cat or dog from dozens of breeds, or create your own breed with the same detail that you create a sim! the personality is a bit simpler than a sim's, but that's to be expected, of course. You can't control them but you can make your sims teach them different commands like come here, sit up, roll over, eat, sleep... you can also tell them when something that they're doing is wrong so that they won't do it again, like tearing up the furniture or getting up on the counter and eating sim food (yes, cats do that!) Personally, I think that it's more realistic for you not to be able to control pets and your sims can only start to control them gradually. Ther's tons of new objects in this expansion pack, from pet houses, pet bowls, and pet toys, to new doors, carpets, windows and much more! There's two new building tools that are very convenient: The sledgehammer tool (that can erase anything no matter what it is) and the Flatten Lot tool, that makes the whole lot flatten itself to the level of the street.

On the whole, a very fun expansion pack! I recommend it.

This software was purchased as a gift for my granddaughter and was a big hit. We lost track of her for a while and soon found her enjoying her Sims 2 Pets. In her words, "Cool!"

Thank you for a great product!

The Pets expansion pack is not much of an expansion. You get an animal whose best assets are some fictional ability to go to work each day. Sort of like a Sim but with 4 legs and about the same un-discernable language as typical of a Sim. Pets kept me interested for a few hours a day over a week. My cat became an actor. He became breadwinner. It was great. Then he died. But then so did my interest in the game. If you are quick with games, wanting to finish goals and WIN: Pets may bore you. If you are a longtime fan who collects these games and has a budget for expansion packs, this ones for you.

My Favorite Sims Expansion - Review written on November 15, 2007

The Pets Expansion is my favorite. I bought the Business one, Bon Voyage, and Seasons. But I think the pets are really fun. I always end up making cats but the dogs are cool too. If you don't take care of your cats, they'll scratch up your furniture. And the dogs misbehave too if you don't treat them right. And sometimes the humane society will even come and take them away.

I had some trouble finding out how to buy products for my pets because I don't feel like the booklet that came with the expansion was too helpful. But maybe part of the fun of the game is discovering these things for yourself, if you don't get too frustrated in the meantime.

But I definitely recommend it.

It's the best expansion pack for your Sims 2 game. It comes with not only different breeds of dogs and cats to choose from, but also new decor and interactions. The pets can also get jobs to help pay for stuff!
The Jury Is Still Out On How I Feel About This Expansion... - Review written on October 29, 2007

While I do love the new pets, I was kind of hoping for a bit more seeing as it is an expansion pack. College and Open For Business gave another location you could take your sim (not just more stores) and Seasons created some sort of timetable in the game besides just getting old. Maybe I'm just being picky, but Pets lacks that wow factor the others have. To me it feels almost less than an expansion, yet more than one of the "stuff" packs. The additional objects were not so amazing or different than before or what has been available on fan sites for a while. Though I do like it, I'm very happy I waited and didn't have to buy it at full price, otherwise I would have felt like I overpaid.

I've waited months for this game to come out. I got it the first day and was SO excited. But, this game takes up SO much memory on my computer and i have to sit there and wait soo long for all the menus to load....loading a game, create a pet, create a family...it's just not so fun anymore due to extreme lag and constant loading. Obviously, its not JUST the pets game, if you have every other Expansion Pack before it then you would have problems. I don't know why EA keeps creating more and more expansion packs to fill up your WHOLE drive, its fun, but its getting more insane with the lag!

But other than that, it is a real let-down. This game was very over-rated. It is a ton of a lot better than Unleashed for regular Sims, but there is nothing to do once you have a pet. My experience was:

"Yay! I got a pet!"
"All right! I taught it some tricks!"
"Cool...it had ONE puppy/kitten"
"Ok, it has a job"
"Umm...NOW what?"

I don't even get any more pets because it makes the house SO hectic! Every pet gets in the way of the house AND the gameplay. I'd have to stop what I'm doing and go tell it NOT to rip up furniture? *sigh*

Sims 2 Pets is a very nice game. It is my favorite Sims 2 Expansion Pack. You get to make pets (cats and dogs). The bad part is that they don't have a large selection of dog breeds (I was disappointed they didn't have a Yorkie)or cat breeds. They do have a lot of popular breeds though. Also, you unlock a new pet tab were you can buy dog houses, pet bowls, litter boxes, etc. You can buy hamsters and birds, too. Overall, this is a really, really FUN game and it is a nice addition to your expansion pack library.

Well, I loved the Sims games for the PS2, but I had no idea how much more there was to the game until I got the PC version. You have complete control over all aspects of the game, where as on the PS2 it is pretty limited. You can create your own characters anyway that you want & make them look really funky, same thing with the pets. You can make your house as big as you want & have as many things in it as you want without the fire hazzard. If you're someone that has a PC & has never tried the Sims on it, I highly recommend it. I've had this game for about a month & I haven't done everything there is to do & I play it pretty regularly. The only negative is that you should definitely have a video card that's at least 256 megs because if you don't it will be real choppy. But, with all the expansion packs that they offer, the possibilities are endless! Have fun!

I just loved this expansion!! It is so creative and gives you the chance to interact to very well designed animals. The moves and characteristics of these pets are amazing, it's almost like a real pet!. I will say that is even more fun to play with this expansion than with the game itself!

THis game rocks! If you haven't bought all of the other expantion packs like University or Night life ( like me ), you still get turn ons and turn offs, diagonal pools, diagonal, and octanganal walls, and custom hair. In this expantion packs you get PETS (of course), a way to make a wearewolf (I haven't done it yet, but one of my sims wants to be a wearewolf), plus other stuff. There is so much you can do with your pet train them, give them a job ( wich unlocks collars, and fur colors), and breed them. There are also smaller pets like birds hampsters and fish that you can't control at all, but you can watch and play with. You can't tell any of the pets not do something, but you can scold and prasie them so after a while they get the picture. also when you create a pet you can pick weather you want them to be crazy or calm, smart or dumb, and weather they like clean places, or messy places. If you have an already created family that doen't have a pet, you can buy an aleady created pet over the phone, or create your own at a pet store. Plus, if you have a family that doen't want random pets coming in their house, you can lock the gate, so pets can't come into your house. Over all this is a great expansion to get.

it is a great outlet for me. I had a pet for 15 yrs, and I lose her. My son bought this game for me and I made me a house with Ms. Princess and myself in it and I spend my time playing with her. Now when my son calls me and if I am feeling low he tells me to go play the Sims. Smart Boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOVE this EP. Even actually played a few Sims (as opposed to just building and decorating houses).

Just wish they would release a better long-haired dog mesh. You just can't make a Pekingese (like my beloved Little Emperor)!

Yes, I know, just a personal gripe ... otherwise, a very decent addition to my Sim World. And I do recommend it.

This has to be one of my favorite Sims 2 expansions to date. It added a detail to the game that was needed greatly. The pets are fun and funny. Although I hear complaints about how sad it is when your pet dies.

I enjoy being able to make my pets look like something I would like to own. I try not to make my real life pets into pets on this game. That was just too creepy for me. The pets even get jobs. You can train your pet to do tricks. They get revenge on you if you do not take care of them properly. That always makes me laugh. They made the behavior fairly realistic.

I'm amazed with the this expansion pack as SIMS 2 has done it again with their graphics and outstanding 3-D work. I don't get to play it all of the time as I have other commitments however when I do, it can get very addicting as you loose track of time. It's a lot of fun and I have found it relieves my stress level from working.
