thirsty towels - Review written on November 22, 2008

I highly recommend these Pike Street towels. They are very thirsty towels. Only 2 things you must remember. Wash before using, by themselves and wash with other towels after that. Do not mix with clothes. Lint occurs on the clothes, and I have a new washer. It dimishes over time. But by all means they are an excellent buy; and they are much bigger than other towels I have purchased elsewhere. The wash cloths are very large.

I am happy with the price I paid and with the towel set. The only thing I don't like about these towels is that the towel pile comes off every time I wash it. And it comes off on my body when I use it. But I like the softness and the thickness of the towels. And I notice that the more times I dry them, the less of the fuzz comes off on me.

These towels are wonderful. They are so soft until I cannot wait until the next shower to dry my body. Every woman should have these towels. They are great!

After reading a ton of 5-star as well as 1-star reviews for these towels, I bought 2 sets (taupe & blue) when they were a Gold Box Deal for $19.99/set. I've never regretted an Amazon purchase more! I washed them the day they came in the mail (following the directions on the packaging), and they looked and felt great when they came out of the dryer. However, the taupe towels were covered in orange splotches and the blue ones in white splotches before they even went in the washer for the second time! What the heck?! As a woman I use a wide array of cleansers and lotions, but nothing was ever applied directly to the towel, and I've never had this "staining" problem with any of my other towels before! I am so disappointed! I'll think twice from now on before purchasing a product manufactured by Amazon.

I am really pleased with the set of towels I bought, they are so thick and soft and plush. They beat hell out of the towels I bought at Macy's 2 years ago.

Great Towels at a Great Price - Review written on November 03, 2008

I was a bit hesitant to order after reading the conflicting reviews - it appears that you either LOVE these or HATE these. In my case, it was LOVE. I must admit I didn't have a lot of expectations (they were only $20 for a 6-piece set after all!) but they're definitely doing the job and have held up through many washings now.
Disappointing! - Review written on November 02, 2008

I bought these towels about the same time I bought some Pike Street Egyptian cotton sheets. The sheets were fabulous, but the towels are very disappointing. The first wash created loads of "hanging chads" on the towels. These towels are also probably the most least absorbent towels I have ever owned. They just spread the moisture around instead of wiping it off. I will buy Pike Street sheets in the future, but I will never buy any more of their towels. Because of the pulled threads on the towels, I can't even put them in the guest bathroom to just look nice--because they don't. I'm not sure how Pike Street can make such good sheets and such bad towels, but that is my experience with them.
GREAT TOWELS! - Review written on November 02, 2008

I wish I had ordered more of these. They are great towels and wash cloths. I actually ordered one set for me and another to give as a wedding gift. What an excellent deal on this set!
Not sewn well! - Review written on November 02, 2008
Rating: 2 out of 5
After the first wash, several towels had the thread at the seams come loose or break; very disappointing as the towels are very soft and would have purchased more in the future if better quality in the sewing department. The taupe color is not the usual color, however, the brick is very vibrant.
Excellent towels for the price - Review written on November 02, 2008

These towels are really big and fluffy and a great value for the price. I don't expect them to last years, but they look very nice. I bought 2 sets.
(If you get any of the deep colors, you probably need to wash them in cold water, I bought the terra cotta color, and they have faded a little, but the taupe colored ones have not faded at all.) For $20-$25, these are really great for a guest bathroom, you can't beat the price. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I like these towels.
Good but not Great - Review written on November 02, 2008
Rating: 4 out of 5
The price was excellent, that is if the towels were the thick, plush towels I had expected. They were O.K. and the price was still a good price. Probably wouldn't buy again, only because I expected a lot higher quality. I was looking for GREAT towels at great price and got good towels for a good price.
I'm probably just spoiled.

I purchased several sets of these towels when they were the Deal of the Day and have not been disappointed. I do wash them in cold or warm water without fabric softener (I use the textured plastic balls that you can purchase for use in the dryer to fluff them and keep them soft when fabric softener isn't used). They have retained their color and continue to soften with repeated washing. They are very absorbent and large enough to do the job without being cumbersome or taking up too much space in the washer or the dryer. I hope they run them as a Deal of the Day again, as I made this purchase as a trial - when this happens I plan to throw out all the rest of our old towels and replace them with these towels. I purposely bought towels that were vivid in color to assess whether that color would hold up through washing, and to this point it has. We have had these towels for a couple of months, so they have been washed numerous times (they have become the towel of choice). We tend to use the bath towels more than the hand towels and the washcloths, so they are washed more often - to this point the colors still match even though the bath towels have beem washed more than the rest of the set. Very satisfied and they are as represented. A nice option would be the opportunity to purchase additional bath towels without having to buy the whole set, since they are what we use the most.

Good towels - Review written on October 30, 2008

These towels, made of Egyptian cotton (whatever that is), are good quality and inexpensive. They have proven surprisingly plush in their early usages. I don't yet know how well they'll hold up, but so far so good.
Excellent Value - Review written on October 30, 2008
Rating: 5 out of 5
These towels are thick, soft and absorbent. The 13x13 washcloth is so large and thick that some may think it is overkill, but I think they're great. Bath sheet is not the super-large sheet I like best, but more than adequate. Of course all of the dimensions are accurately given in the product details, so compare the sizes with what you are using now if you have any questions. We bought two sets at a ridiculously low price and I am very pleased. Doubt there is a better towel value out there.

Spend the money,.. they are thick, and continue to get softer, with each wash.
You won't be disappointed.
They're wonderful.

Hard to find cost effective towels like these. Egyption cotton is our favorite material(soft, supple). The size of bath towel is above average.
Nicest towels ever - Review written on October 29, 2008

These towels are so incredibly soft and luxurious, and will dry you off even when still damp from previous usage. Worth the money (though I did get them on a gold box deal).
Soft, but lots of loose threads - Review written on October 29, 2008
Rating: 2 out of 5
When I received these, they were pretty nice, and they are soft, but about half had threads missing and they all had several loose threads around the sides that needed to be cut, so they will begin fall apart after a few washings. Fine for me, but my girlfriend will complain.
the good news is: Amazon makes returns easy! - Review written on October 28, 2008
Rating: 1 out of 5
The bad news is: this product is absolute junk. When these came up on a Gold Box deal last month, I read all the reviews and decided that since I wanted to buy white towels, it didn't matter about the fading colors and funky dye smells. The towels arrived and looked nice...I washed them before use, of course, and one of the bath towels fell apart! Warm wash, normal cycle...and the hem came completely unravelled, and a long "run" showed up down the middle of the towel. That was enough for me, and of course Amazon refunded my money when they received the towels back.

These towels were not worth the money. They are thin (which would be fine) if they weren't so rough. I followed instructions on how to wash them and still, horrible.
I do not recommend that at all
The Perfect Towel Set - Review written on October 22, 2008
Rating: 5 out of 5
Pike Street has a great product in their Egyptian Cotton 725-Gram 6-piece towel set. I ordered it in pale green and it is prettier than it sounds. The towels wash up beautifully, and the bath towels are big, big and fluffy, fluffy! I had ordered a set from a different manufacturer from around the same price , but nobody uses them. I thought most towels were the same, but it's not so. I am going to order another soon.

I am extremly picky about what type of towels, linens, etc. These are amazing, the colors are true and they are an excellent buy. I want some more, actually.
