Waste of money, does not hold a charge - Review written on October 27, 2008

People - don't buy this product. It's a complete rip off for 2 reasons.

First of all, the batteries do not hold a charge at all. If you let this sit around for even just one week without using it, all the juice will be gone.

Second, it's no cheaper than standard rechargeable batteries, so why not just use those to begin with? Not only will they work better, but you can also use them with any other product. This battery pack is propietary and only works with 360 controllers. If it was insanely awesome battery time it might be worth it, but it's not, so don't waste your money!

This rechargable pack is fantastic. The savings on batteries is amazing. Charges within two hours. I have three of them for my sons and I would recommend them for anyone with multiple players in the household.
If you have an Xbox 360 Elite, you're going to need 2 or more of these - Review written on September 11, 2008

This is a given, if you own an Xbox 360, buy these battery packs. I know we can complain how they should come with the system, and having to purchase them is a ripoff. Seeing how Sony's controller comes already with a rechargeable battery within it. However, unlike the shameless ripoff that is the $180 Xbox 360 120GB hard drive, the $12 price for this handy item isn't so bad.

For me, I usually replace them once a week, and I'm a moderate gamer. It has no effect on my gaming though, cause it only takes an hour or 2 to charge on the charger, also sold separately. They are easy to swap in an out, just a click and swap. As far as longevity, we have had the white ones since the first Xbox 360 came out. Meaning, we have never had to throw any of these out in two plus years. Just imagine the cost of batteries, and the impact on environment that would have if you chose not to get this. Sorry to get preachy, we live in Portland after all.

Saves You Money But Also Like Playing Russian Roulette - Review written on July 12, 2008

These rechargeable batteries have saved me a great deal of money and I like that a lot. But the problem is also that when I bought three of them only two truly worked the third wouldn't hold a charge so I bought another one and the same problem happened after I bought the fifth one which finally worked I had enough batteries for my controllers. That is probably the only annoyance I have with these batteries is that about 45% seem to be defective an that they won't hold a charge for either very long or not at all. So to the viewers who are interested in purchasing this while it will save you a lot on the cost of buying new batteries be prepared to have one or two to be defective...

this works and holds its charge for quite a while but you need to make sure that you get the play and charge wire to go along with it - one thing that is weird though if you have this charging while you are using it with the play and charge kit and then turn off the counsel the counsel really does not turn off and is still blowing hot air out of the back and drawing power. So I would unhook from the play and charge wire before turning off your counsel.

Great at first, but begins to diminish. - Review written on May 25, 2008

Like most people who own a 360, I got tired of constantly switching out dead batteries. I looked for an alternative and eventually settled on the Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack.

At first, it was a great decision. It worked like a charm. Only needed about an hour to charge and it lasted for a good 20 hours, give or take. This was much better than always buying new batteries to replace the old ones.

That only lasted a year though. After that, the time between charges began to shorten. It soon became apparent to me that with each charge, the lifespan of the charge was shrinking. Currently, my battery pack only lasts for about 2 hours and dies. It's very frustrating when I sit down to play and only after about five to ten minutes, I discover the battery needs to be charged up yet AGAIN.

For anyone looking for an alternative to just swapping batteries, you should look elsewhere. Unless you don't mind buying more than one battery pack, this isn't for you. This isn't the worst choice, but there are better things than this.

Xbox 360 Rechargeable Controller Battery Pack's are very helpful, last at least 25 hours once fully charged. Which means that I don't have to worry about getting batteries for the controller at 3:00 AM while in the middle of a game.
Why not regular rechargeables? - Review written on May 20, 2008

I got this and the recharger stand as a gift. It works exactly as you'd expect, gets around 20 hours of gameplay and recharges very quickly.

The thing about this is that it's proprietary and just as effective as rechargeable batteries, which are more versatile. I have four controllers now and a small pile of rechargeables that I use for the controllers, my universal remote, fire detectors, etc.

Since these last nearly as long as the packs--if not the same amount--why not invest in a product that will last longer than the shelf-life of a single gaming system?

These batteries work exactly as you'd expect and are a great, if redundant, product.

CAN'T HOLD A CHARGE - Review written on May 03, 2008

I've had 2 rechargeable battery packs that wont hold a charge. These things are junk just like my 360. I honestly got about 5 charges from one battery pack before it failed. The other battery pack holds about 20 minutes for a full charge. My suggestion is to buy rechargeable batteries from any other company than Microsoft. This review may sound like I have a lot of hostility towards Microsoft. I've had about every problem that could ever go wrong with my 360 console since I purchased it. Microsoft denies all problems and tries to blame problems on the customer or the game manufacturer. If I could do it all over again I would have purchased a PS3.

Extra Packs Work Wonders - Review written on May 02, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

If you buy the charger, you need this extra battery pack because the charger only includes one pack. If you don't have an extra, you have to wait for it to recharge before you can start playing again...

And when you're about to beat the third level of Call of Duty 4 and your battery pack goes out and you have to wait "less than two hours" for the quick charge kit... That just sucks!

Spend the extra dough on the extra pack. Your controller and own lack of patience will thank you.

the battery pack works great, especially coupled with the quick charge kit. even though it seems to me that the batteries should be included with the $50 controller, that's microsoft for you. nickel and dime, nickel and dime. it would be nice if just once xbox would let you play a game without having to purchase 40 other little things in order to do so.

Pink! Yes, that's right, pink! For those that aren't worried about protecting their image of masculinity, Microsoft brings you a pink rechargable battery pack.

As with all the battery packs, this will save you money.

The battery life of these packs can give you many hours of uninterrupted gaming on your Xbox 360.

With the play and charge kit, you can play while it charges. With the Quick Charge station, you can charge a battery in about two hours.

The pink model shown here looks great with any of the controllers.

this product is great for the first 7-8 months. after that, it's just ok for its use. what makes it great for the first 8 months is the battery life when fully charged. You can geta bout 15-17 hrs out of it. after 8 months, the battery life does not last that long anymore when fully charged. You get about 7-8 hrs out of it. If it's doesn't bother you to have to charge it every 7 hrs, then it's no big deal.

Awesome battery life. You really can't go wrong. It matches my blue controller (obviously).

I really have to charge this thing once or twice a week (If that even).

Thats with a mic. plugged in and a chatpad (Seeing as those devices use power from the controller).

What else can I say? It's a battery pack. =]

I have found this battery to be invaluable while playing Halo 3 Matches. I am able to swap out the controller battery in under a second and be back online and in the match before anyone knows that I am standing still. I have the spare sitting on my coffee table and when one battery goes dead, I hit the button dropping the dead battery while reaching for the spare, pop the spare in while holding the center X button. It's just like speed re-loading a semi-auto pistol. Practice this move a few times and you can be back online in less than 2 seconds.
