Down with dust - Review written on August 05, 2008

This brush is a great addition to the Dyson vacuum. Very effective for dusting blinds, drapes, computers, electronics, TVs, walls books, furniture, etc... all those places you usually have to hand dust. I have always thought that the ideal vacuum brush would have the characteristics of a feather duster. This is the closest thing to that idea.

Dyson Dusting Brush Attachment

I bought the Dyson DC25 Ball and because I have 2" blinds throughout my house I decided to order the dusting brush. Thanks to C. Vaughn's Review I learned that the connectors included by Amazon do not fit my DC25. A call to Dyson's service rep informed me that by ordering directly from them I would be sent the right connector for my vacuum...$36.94...more, but worth it if it works. Must congratulate the service rep, Shereen, who patiently helped me set up my vacuum which wasn't all that easy for me, disabled, 74 and not very mechanically savvy. She deserves 10 stars. I gave a 4 star review because I just now ordered it and am hoping, with fingers crossed, that it will be a 5 star winner! Just thought the above info would be helpful to someone else. Will write an update later.

This brush is softer and finer than the one that comes with the machine. It has two holes. It seems very effective on blinds. I also use it on most hard surface because it covers more area. Is it worth the money? Is the value there? I think it's a little expensive; that's why I gave it 4-stars rather than 5.

I just love this little brush. It takes a chore that I really hate, (dusting) and makes it very quick and simple. Of course, the Dyson grabs all the dust with the help of the dusting brush. Great on mini blinds too.

This is a must have item if you have a dyson vacuum.

I used to buy swiffer to clean dust, but I don't need to buy that any more.

I bought this for my DC14 Animal. It's the first attachment I've ordered (as the DC14 came with a lot of them). I'm glad I bought it. I use it just about every time I vacuum. It's great for side tables and the coffee table. I also use it on the stereo and TV. It's great for computer keyboards, and really good for blinds. It just takes a lot of the misery out of dusting.

This is a great product, however I didn't see anything that indicated that it came with an adaptor to make it fit depending on the model you have. The adaptor that came with mine does not match my machine, so I was unhappy about that. You can make it work without the adaptor, but it isn't a real solid connection.

I love my Dyson vacuum, but wondered if I really needed this item. I ordered, and I love it!!! It does a great job of sucking the dust off pleated lampshades, vacuuming around knick-knacks on a table without having to move them, etc.

If you like your Dyson, you'll probably like this tool too. Yeah, it's not perfect, but it is good for quickly dusting off flat surfaces like table tops, and it works well on keyboards and blinds too.

When I was looking to buy, I noticed several warnings that this only fits specific vacuums (fortunately, mine was one of the ones listed). It actually appears to fit almost all vacuums - it comes with two attachments that will connect to the hose of your Dyson: one connector fits DC07, 14, 17, and 18 tubes and the other fits DC11, 15, 16, and 21's. It's a short tube that connects your vacuum hose to the brush. So if you have one of these models, connecting it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't understand why some people have complaints about this brush. Perhaps they are not using it correctly, or not attaching it to their machine all the way causing it to break suction. some complain that it doesn't suck enough, not getting TV screens clean???? WHAT???!!!!! I now dust my entire house with my vacuum cleaner rather than with dusting products. I can get under and behind TV's, DVDs, cable boxes, and other electronics. It's great on keyboards and office equipment. I even use it to dust my knick-knacks and glasswear (very carefully, of course, while holding onto the item with my free hand). It even works great on baseboards and air vents!!!! I find myself dusting picture frames and glasswear much more often that I used to!!!!

It doesn't do a thing for blinds, and the soft round brush that comes on the Dyson does everything this one does. It's just not as big.
Overpriced, not very soft, adequate brush - Review written on October 14, 2007

Just a plastic accessory - cheap construction and not much about the brush is "soft". The bristles are coarse enough to scratch some surfaces and would not good for use on delicate electronics or surfaces - I am even concerned about it being to rough for my dark wood tables.

To call this a "dusting brush" seems misleading to me - for floors or relatively tough surfaces I guess it is ok but it there is certainly nothing here worth $30 by a long shot.
Unless you just can't bear not having the Dyson purple to match your vacuum , look for a better brush. This one would be a much better buy around $15.

Although the attachment works, it didn't live up to my expectations. I'd have liked softer bristles, and I think it needs to be more ergonomical. It didn't do a good job on my keyboard, but did do a nice job on the cpu air intake. It was fine for wood furniture and such, but it was difficult to maneuver. I'm glad I have it, but I wish it was a better design. This attachment is the ONLY disappointment I've had with my Dyson.

I absolutely hate to dust. MY allergies act up everytime. I cound't wait to get this product in my home. I live in an area where there is dust in the air all the time. Once I got this product, I wondered if by the looks of it if it would do any good but BOY WAS I SURPRIZED!!!!! It pulled the dust off my wooden blinds, off the window sills, my large screen TV and off everything else I cleaned with ease. Instead of just pushing the dirt around it sucked it right up without causing any kind of dust cloud. I love this product.
A Great Time Saver! - Review written on August 26, 2007

I was skeptical about buying the brush because of its price but if your time is worth anything, this brush will pay for itself many times over. It does a great job in areas that are particularly tedious, such as venecian blinds, book cases, switch and recepticle plates, picture frames, and any irregularly shaped or delicate object. I can dust a 6' by 5' venecian blind in under a minute and it is clean. The tops of books in a bookcase are a cinch. The brush is especially good for dusting doors, cabinets and furniture that have raised panels.
I learned there is a little technique to using the brush effectively. The leading edge of the bristles tend to push some of the dust ahead of them leaving a residue, but if one rocks the brush gently from side to side while dusting, the brush picks up all the dust.
The brush will not remove fingerprints, or water stains. You will have to use good old furniture polish for that. I consider my home reasonably clean, but the first time I used the brush I collected almost a cup full of dust in the canister after dusting the entire house. I heartily recommend this accessory for your Dyson.

I give this product two stars, maybe 2.5. I paid $30 for it, because I thought having the reach of the hose combined with this would be great for doing our ceiling fans. But it's not. The brush isn't adjustable angle-wise, which makes dusting just about anything a labor of inflexibility (imagine dusting a plasma television with a broom, only you had to hold the broom parallel to the screen, rather than perpindicular). The product itself isn't very impressive. If I paid $10 for it, I'd be a lot more forgiving, but I paid three times that, and can only use it for about 10% of the dusting jobs my home requires. I don't recommend this product-if you want to spend that kind of money, but a swiffer-type product. They're adjustable and are better-suited for the job.

Overall, this brush is great... EXCEPT that it pretty much scratched up the entire TV screen. It is advertised to "...gently dust delicate surfaces. Keeps fans, blinds, televisions, and keyboards dust-free." Not only that, but on the Dyson website, the demo shows the brush on the screen of a TV! I VERY carefully dusted my NEW TV, and it has scratches all over it now! EEEK! I am in contact with Dyson to see what they will do to fix the issue, and my TV. We'll see...

I really hate to dust and tend to let it go most of the time. When I saw this lovely little item, I decided to use a high-tech method for a change and see how it worked. Sure enough, I picked up an amazing amount of dust with my vacuum and this attachment! Someone else mentioned having to store it carefully, but I simply let it rest on its side -- no problem with the bristles bending out of shape.

This Dyson product is made great and matches the purple DC15 Animal perfectly. Fantastic design as well. Problem is the actually usefulness of the product. I have used it 1 or 2 times since purchase and it never worked well. I wanted this to specifically suck the dust off of my 50" TV's screen - didn't work at all for this. It just doesn't suck up that well.

Even though this seems a little pricey for a piece of plastic and some bristles, it is worth the money. It does a fantastic job with all our household dusting needs. 2" blinds have never been easier (and faster) to dust. All around, I give this 5 stars.

I just tried this duster yesterday. I have had it for a month, I hate to clean but could not stand the dust any longer.
This little Dyson gadget almost made it a pleasure to dust. It picked up the dust with ease, fit into small spaces and did not disturb surrounding items, yes, I am a lazy cleaner. I actually went looking for places to try it.

I love the brush, it fit everywhere i tried to put it, it sucked up the dust from the TV display, the computer keyboard, the pleated lampshade, the flat smooth lampshade, the answering machine, the guitar headstocks, under the guitar strings, dust from speaker covers, and anything else i took on. It was able to pick up well without forming suction, even from a small distance. I am really happy with my Dyson experience.

I am frustrated with the lack of written instructions with any of these products (i got two other tools and am waiting for a third to be delivered). One of the things i like to find in instructions is how to take care of the item, and do's and don'ts. That is lacking. But I'm very very satisfied with the dust brush.

Someone said it was about a foot long. The one i have is under 8 inches from one end of the brush tips to the other. I love the size, not too big, not too small. But i think it is the same brush, it's called "Soft Dusting Brush" for all models of vacuum cleaner.

A big (passionate) ditto to the person who complimented Dyson on the plastic packaging that doesn't require a major ordeal and special cutting tools to free the item, like most things i buy. I have no clue why companies do that. I find it to be quite dangerous and risky. Thank you Dyson. The other tools i bought have this same advantage. After reading reviews here, i was afraid to get the Dyson Mini Turbine tool, so, on advice from some reviewers, i got the Eureka Power Paw--it works very well. I just want to mention that it has the same kind of easy to open (and reuse) plastic container as Dyson. THANK YOU

In summary, i love the size of the brush, the texture of it, the effectiveness of it--i have no complaints other than lack of any information about how to care for it. Obviously not a big deal with this particular tool though.

Works great for using your Dyson to dust all over the house. I am highly allergic to dust and so I use my Dyson to dust thereby reducing the amount that gets knocked around in the air. This gets it up good and does not scratch surfaces. With my Dyson arsenal I can dust my whole house much quicker and have it much cleaner than I can with a rag. I love it.
The Little Magic Wand - Review written on April 16, 2007

Rarely would I give an ordinary vacuum attachment a five star rating, but this is far from ordinary.

I was impressed first off with the packaging. Usually when I buy something that's encased in plastic it takes Superman to cut the thing out. Not so with the thoughtful folks at Dyson; they provided a package that you can easily open and then close again.

Second, I was impressed by the construction of the brush itself. The bristles are very fine yet sturdy and practically mold themselves around anything you vacuum with it. And the material used to make the rest of the brush is the same tough crash helmet plastic as the Dyson itself. Nice.

Something to keep in mind is that the brush comes with two small adapters; one has a small triangle on it and the other has a small "O". In the package there is a small booklet with pictures showing what the adapters are for; the one with the triangle attaches to the brush when you want to put it on the long wand, the adapter with the "O" attaches to the brush when you want to use it with just the hose. I mention this because I ended up vacuuming all my blinds (and even my curtains) before I realized I needed one of these adapters. Nevertheless, even without the adapter the brush picked up a lot of dust, which says a lot for the suction power of the Dyson.

I have never been this amazed by something as simple as a vacuum attachment before. This brush is like a little magic wand. Never before have I been able to vacuum my TVs, computers, blinds, curtains, and just about anything with this much ease. The brush not only increased my respect and admiration for the Dyson itself but also for the ingenious minds behind the development of it.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who owns a Dyson vacuum.
