I first ordered a set of these for a coffee shop I was managing. They are beautiful and adds a real luxury to espresso making. Our customers loved them and the staff loved using them.
I then ordered a set for myself to have at home. I love pulling a shot into them. they are beautiful.

Also, very helpful in teaching staff what a proper shot should look like because you can see the 3 leves of the shot clearly.

Has stood up to the test of time. A bit expensive but worth it. Don't have to worry about burning your fingers anymore.

It's all true: they keep things hot (or cold) especially if you pre-warm them); you can prewarm them with water in the microwave (!) and you can chill them in the freezer.

The outside stays warm to the touch no matter how hot or cold the contents are ... if you put them in the freezer, the outside will quickly adjust to your hand.

They do seem fragile, but so far, no breaks.

Oh, and put a little liquid in them and then gently tip them: they don't fall over!!

We've got the 9oz version; we also bought some of their "Double Old Fashioned" glasses, which are also becoming favorites for cold drinks.

We'll be buying more.

These double wall glasses are a nice addition to my coffeeware. They hold the coffee in an attractive container at a good temperature which does not burn the fingers. Once the coffee cools down just a bit from the brewing process, the temperature holds for a while so the coffee can be enjoyed over 40 or so minutes. The glasses are not very large, so if you are accustomed to drinking a 'standard' coffee (12 oz), buy a larger size.

One reviewer explained that the glassware has a small hole in the bottom which is bad for dishwashing. The Bodum company is no help on how to solve the problem. I would recommend covering the hole during dishwashing or applying a small amount of epoxy to seal it.

As others have mentioned, this cup is beautiful, and perhaps somewhat fragile. One cracked in the dishwasher after two or three washes. I was able to replace it with easily through Amazon's excellent customer service, and the replacements as well as one original have been holding up just fine for the past couple of months.

The double-wall glasses do their jobs splendidly. Even though the espresso in the glass is scolding hot, the outside is barely even warm. Also, easy to clean.
Bodum Pavina is the perfect thermo glass - Review written on November 03, 2008

I love the Bodum Pavina glasses. We have a set of smaller sized Pavina, so this is just expanding on a perfect collection. I like looking at the beverage. I like that my coffee stays hot and other beverages stay cold. I like that condensation doesn't drip onto the table. Elegant, simple, perfectly pleasing to eye and hand. Unstable and fragile - Review written on October 30, 2008

The glasses are too tall and the base is too narrow. They will tip over at the slightest excuse.

In addition, they are not strong at all. They are supposed to be made of borosilicate glass, the same stuff used in laboratory beakers, which is both chemically resistant and extremely strong. I actually doubt they're made of that; if they were, you'd almost be able to throw them to the floor and they'd just bounce. Instead, the first thing that happened with my set was I tipped one over on the countertop, and it broke. Even an ordinary glass probably wouldn't have broken from just tipping over.

These are great espresso glasses. They are double walled so no heat comes through to the outside. I also like a clear glass to show off the crema. Two ounces is a perfect size to accommodate 1 ounce single shots or for pulling the shot a bit long. You won't be disappointed with these glasses.
Really nice glasses... - Review written on October 29, 2008

These are really nice glasses; I've had them over a week and I still enjoy looking at the fluid apparently suspended in mid-air in the glass.

One caveat is that the glasses do feel fragile; handle them with care, or you'll likely break them. Good thing the package came with two and I only need one. ;-)

these glasses don't sweat with cold drinks. keep hot drinks hot. Don't get cloudy in dishwasher.
They are brittle. Can't drop an ice cube in empty glass. It can break them. I think they are worth the extra care.

Never thought I'd use a glass to drink coffee from. But these have turned out to work wonderfully for that. They keep the coffee hot much longer than a regular cup or mug, & because of the well designed rim & no condensation I don't really need a coaster- &, they are beautiful.

Add myself to the list of people that like this basic product (I've bought these two other times from brick and mortar retailers), but am frustrated by Amazon's inability to deliver these intact.

I ordered these and some Bodum Bistro coffee mugs. Both were packed in a cardboard box with virtually no packing material. Considering the glasses themselves are protected only by a single layer of bubble wrap, I'm not surprised that upon receiving my box, I could already hear the tinkling sound of broken glass.

I'd like to be able to buy these from Amazon, but until they can start packing fragile items properly, I'll have to stick with B+M retailres.

I love these glasses, they never sweat, no matter how humid it is. I just wish they weren't so expensive. One comment, they call these beer glasses, but a 12 oz beer will not fit in one pouring unless you fill it right to the edge.
beautiful glasses, company may replace if broken - Review written on September 24, 2008

I've seen lots of comments on how wonderful these glasses are and how they can break easily. I was visiting a friend in Australia when I first encountered these glasses and liked them so much I had to pick up a set. They work really well keeping liquids hot (I use mine for tea) or cold (if you prefer beer). My Australian friend had one break when she used a metal spoon in it, she contacted Bodum and they replaced the glass for free, so...Bodum also has great customer service (granted, I don't know if anyone else has had a glass replaced for free, but if you are careful and your glass still breaks, it could be worth calling the manufacturer).

Actually, I should say "my cup of coffee," because that's what I pourinto these luminescent, doubled walls cups, but that expression has not found its way into the lexicon. Besides, these glasses/cups don't have the "coffee feeling" of the Bodum mugs (for example, the Bodum latte cups) which also feature a handle.

BREAKAGE--Not Yet a Problem.
However, because of numerous (and vociferous) complaints about how easily Bodum coffee glasses break, I chose these. My housemate here (i.e., spouse) has used these for well over a year, with nary a crack or unsightly buildup through the tiny hole at the bottom of these blown-glass Bodums. (HInt: Dry them after washing, and you should probably avoid the following: Dropping ice into them, using a metal spoon, washing in the dishwasher. Bodum makes all or most of these suggestions in a tiny pamphlet inside the box.) You may also wish to purchase these locally (sorry Amazon), rather than having them shipped. Then again, it may be that the 9-ounce Pavinas have a stronger, more fracture-resistant design than other Bodums. My spouse also reports that these glasses have been microwaved safely. (I've only had mine a few days, so have been unable to verify this independently, but I trust her.)

INSULATION. This is where Bodum meets and beats expectations. Hot coffee and tea don't lose their heat when they hit the glass, and they maintain their heat exceptionally well. There's just no comparison to ceramic-ware. You'll be very pleasantly surprised by the superior insulation of both hot and cold drinks. Bodum recommends heating the glass with hot water for optimal performance, but sometimes I don't want to go to the trouble, and it doesn't seem necessary.

APPEARANCE AND PRACTICALITY. The glass hss a beautiful, almost crystal like look, is lightweight without feeling like it's about to fly out of your hand, rests evenly on flat surfaces, and handwashes easily. The double glass wall impart that nifty look of suspended liquid.

There's no handle--that may be a downside to some. The curved, untextured exterior may increase the liklihood of dropping and slippage, but perhaps not ore than any other curved glass or cup. Other than that, it fits well in the hand. The Pavina only holds 9 ounces, so those wanting long, satisfying gulps of coffee may prefer the larger coffee cups (with the disadvantages noted below). The somewhat smaller size makes storage more convenient.

SUMMARY. While individual experiences will differ, I hope these comments and suggestions will balance out some of the negative reviews. These are simply the most convenient, safest (compared to coffee hot plates), and perhaps prettiest vessels for maintaining temperature. They also seem a better value than some of the other Bodum glassware. I'm enjoying my coffee much more now (one cup is at home, one at work), actually drink less of it (because I don't keep pouring "warm-ups"), and enjoy the looks and convenience. I toast these particular cups with a hearty and hot "Bodum's up!" (Bad puns should not temper your evaluation of the product).
Beautiful and cheap....but be careful with them.. - Review written on September 19, 2008

I will make this simple. The glassware has so far been able to hand water with ice, and scalding hot espresso. I cannot feel the temperature on the outside of the class. It has only fogged slightly on the inside.

I have not had any leaks like some people. Only downside is it feels very thing, and I can see it breaking in the future. I have held wine glasses that were not as thin and fragile feeling as these. But it is something EVERY person has said in the reviews, and I would only suggest being very careful with these.

Pro: Beautiful, cheap, and sophisticated

Con: It feels very fragile, and I don't want to break it.

the glasses were beautiful and I really wanted to keep them . When I used one of the glasses and washed it by hand in hot soapy water , I rinsed it and started to dry it and there was soapy water in between the double wall of the insulated glass!

I really like these glasses and I'm ordering 2-at-a-time until I have a set of 12. These are great birthday and Christmas gift suggestions when family asks what I would like to have.

Granted, I do take very good care of the things that I own. I troubles me greatly to break something that I have purchased. Admittedly, I have not dropped ice cubes into these glasses, but I have scooped ice into them, gently; however, I did knock one into the sink from the counter-top and I held my breath.... it didn't break. *whew*

Buy them, enjoy them. They'll last you a long time if you use a little TLC.

These glasses work very well - there is no condensation regardless how cold the drink is

I was disappointed that the glass feels cold when you pick it up - I had expected the glass to insulate a bit better

It also feels lighter than I expected because it's made of two thin layers of glass - I prefer heavier glasses

We are careful when dropping ice cubes into the glasses and to not put them touching other dishes in the dishwasher, and so far neither of them has broken

Bodum Pavina 2-Ounce Double-Wall Thermo Glasses (Espresso/Shot), Set of 2

These unique espresso glasses are perfect for a single shot with room left for a bit of cream. No heat coming through these glasses due to the double wall design. They are really cute and must be washed and handled with care.

These glasses are wonderful both in terms of appearance and function. However, as others have pointed out, they break so easily, that there's no way I can recommend their purchase. Broke the first one when it dropped about 12 inches onto a wood floor (okay, my bad, but any other glass or cup would have been fine). The second one broke while I was washing it in the sink. It slipped out of my hands and dropped about 8 inches in the stainless steel sink (which is not that rigid) and smashed into pieces.

I have had no problems but have been hand washing. However, I consider this a fair trade off for the look and insulation provided. Some of my friends (having never seen such a product) assumed that they were made of some type of new plastic. Bottom line - pleased with my purchase.

Very nice but fragile - use common sense... - Review written on September 02, 2008

These glasses are great. I have put them through the dishwasher a couple of times with no problem. HOWEVER - use common sense - NOTHING should be touching them, and they need to be secure in the upper rack. Also - no rough treatment with metal spoons or slamming ice in them. If you treat them carefully they will be fine. These are more fragile than regular drinking glasses and definitely NOT for use by children. They keep hot things hot and cold drinks cold extremely well - and no need for coasters on furniture.

These cups are great. They're really stylish, and they keep your drinks at the desired temperature for a good long time. But if you drop one, be prepared to spend the next half hour vacuuming up the thousands of tiny shards of glass spread out over a 25 foot radius.

Elegant and practical - Review written on August 24, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

These beautiful glasses helped me with my espresso habit. Espresso is brewed at low temperatures (circa 190 F) and the small amount involved makes preheating the cup mandatory, what is an unwelcome extra step. The thin inner glass wall of the Pavina takes practically no heat from the liquid making preheating unnecessary. Additionally, the double wall keeps the coffee warm for a good while. Excellent! But be careful, they are very fragile: even dropping a spoon in it could break the glass. I know, it happened to me.

Awesome nifty little glass for that piping hot espresso shot. how do they do it??? Be careful, the outside of the cup stays so cool you'll forget that inside is a hot cup of java. Very cool! I mean hot. I mean.... you know what i mean!! And for the price... oh so cheap.
