Calphalon is always a good product, a little spendy, but a good buy. We PAID over $100 for their Wok over 25 years ago and still use it all the time and love it; great product. We had never used their stainless steel line of products; however, we were in the market for a new stockpot and the price and quality on this one was just too good to pass up. This was a great buy on a great pot. The Tri-Ply construction is wonderful, as you get great heat distribution and can greatly reduce the temperature settings on your stove. Starting your dish on the stove-top and finishing it in the oven can be accomplished with great ease with this pot; I give it the highest marks! Ours was shipped from Macy's and both shipping and delivery were very satisfactory.

I bought this on a recommendation from my Mother. Our family has been in the restaraunt business for years. I use it to make big pots of soup. It's terrific. It's sturdy and yet not too heavy. The glass lid is great, I never have to lift the lid to check for simmering. The handles are very secure. They do get warm after you've had something cooking for a while. Use potholders if you pick up the pot from the stove. It's easy to clean. It has a very pretty mirror shine to it, so much so that I leave it on my stove all the time. You can't really see that in the picture. So far I can't voice a single complaint about it. For the pricetag, it's a really good deal. I'll have it for many, many years.

This stock pot is great for simmering stock, soups, etc. I also have a very expensive "Lifetime" stock pot and this one works just as well. Definitely a great bargain for the money.

It's stable, easy to clean, rapid to heat, easy to lift, and a good price. And you can see stuff cooking without letting the heat escape.

A whole chicken or chicken carcas fit in easily. Spagetti fits in whole without waiting for the ends to soften. But it's not too big, either. We had already fallen in love with the graceful Calphalon Tri-ply line and pounced when this stockpot came up at discount. We were missing this size and after a month it is already well established as a favorite. This is the size and shape for pasta, soups and stews, and veggies you want to blanch to a bright green in copious boiling water. And stocks, of course! The even heat, comfortable weight, smooth pouring, easy clean-up, glass lid, and graceful styling in this line make it a winner -- at this price, you can't loose.

I bought the Calphalon Tri-Ply 8 quart stockpot to match other Calphalon Tri-Ply pots and pans I own. The stockpot is more compact than you might imagine - the diameter is the same as 10" Calphalon saute pans and the lids interchange.

As others have said, the cooking performance is first rate, with the pot being thick and heavy enough to heat evenly, but light enough to lift easily.

The thing I like best is that after using the pot a few times, I found this is a great do-it-all pot. Big enough to boil up a lot of pasta and (no suprise) good soup/stock and still compact enough to use it as a dutch oven for pot roasts. Although taller than a typical dutch oven, the tall sides are actually an aid it controlling spatter when browning a roast.

The handles are placed at just the right height to allow easy pouring, which is aided by the nice curved rim.

Although big enough for most any task, it's still small enough to fit in the dishwasher. Since it's stainless steel, it will survive dishwasher cleaning, something you can't do with anodized aluminum pots.

It may sound like a stretch, but if I could only have ONE cooking pan, the Calphalon Tri-Ply 8 quart stockpot would be my choice.

My wife and I have both learned now. This pot has a good flat bottom and transfers heat better than our older pots with slightly warped bottoms. This won't effect many people but we have flat cast iron burners on our stove and a good flat contact makes a world of difference. Took some getting used to; turning down the heat.

This is a great stockpot. We use it for making relishes, apple sauce and other foods that have to be simmered without burning on the bottom of the pot. Does a perfect job.

It is a heavy pot; the heat is well distributed so nothing burns at the bottom. I love the glass lid; I can be sure the soup is simmering without having to remove the lid. It is a beautiful, well made pot and I love using it.

For years I've been using a 6 quart Scanpan for my chilis and sauces. This 8 quart Tri Ply is now my main pot. I don't know if it's because of the stainless vs. nonstick interior or not. I only know this pot was made for cooking, as well as being a very nice looking pot piece of kitchen ware.
Heavy, well built and just the right size. The price is an incredible value for what you get. An All Clad in this size would run about $300.
Can't say enough good things about this pot. If you enjoy cooking and need a pot this size, quit looking at the others and buy this one. You won't regret it.

Just got this pot to replace my Farberware one. So far, it's almost perfect. The handles are low enough on the pot to give good balance while carrying it when full. I love the glass lid, which allows me to see inside without lifting it. It seems to fit snugly enough and the top handle doesn't get too hot. I've just filled it half-way with water, and am waiting for it to boil. It's been 20min, and I have steam/large water droplets on the inside of the lid, but it's not quite a roiling boil (watched pot and all). The rim is curved outward (rolled), to allow for easy pouring--no drips down the side.

The handles stay cooler than the pot, but I still use pot holders. They're large enough to really have something to hold, and I like the deep angle of them--I can get a good grip with the Orka gloves.

My only complaint is the 4 rivets on each side (total of eight on the interior), holding the handles to the pot. I just found dishwasher soap caught in the edges. I also felt my sponge bits getting snagged just a bit. If the rivets were more rounded or more sloped I wouldn't have any complaints.

It's a great price on sale. I got boiling water at ~30min (I started with cold tap). I have All-Clad, and this is a nice complement to the set, and at a MUCH lower cost. I'd probably buy this again.

This pan is perfect. Not too big, nor too small for a perfect soup. For the price, you can't get better. This pan replaces my Farberware 6 quart, and overall, it isn't any bigger; just holds 2 quarts more. Love it.

Excellent price for a high quality stock pot. Very heavy steel with solid glass lid keeps pot from "rocking" while allowing visualization of ingredients. Very pleased with purchase and speedy shipping.

The first thing you notice about this pan is the weight. This is due to the thick bottom and solid sides. This construction allows for very even heat distribution and excellent results in cooking. With no "hot spots", there were no burns and clean up was easy. This is not the cheapest 8 qt. stock pot sold by Amazon, but it is one of the better ones and is a very good value. For boiling water, the cheap pots are fine, but for soups and sauces, invest in a good pot like this one.

Have you stopped making tomato sauce from scratch because it sticks to the bottom of the pan and burns if there isn't frequent stirring? Are you tired of the sauce from the jar? Don't fret anymore! This wonderful Calphalon Stockpot does it all. The sauce thickens from the bottom up without sticking. No more burned taste. No more wasting precious time making all those frequent trips to the stove to stir. I am so glad that I invested in this quality 8-Quart Calphalon Stockpot and so is my husband.

This is a great stockpot. I had "borrowed" my mother-in-law's 6qt Wolfgang Puck Tri-Ply for several years and finally decided to return it. After using her tri-ply for so long, I knew I didn't want to go back to any other material. I was nervous about not finding one in my price range (AllClad for example is way too much for my modest income). When I saw this on Amazon for such a great price, I was concerened that the 8qt would be too big for my little kitchen. Since I couldn't find anything comparable, I went ahead and ordered it. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised that it isn't much bigger than the 6qt Wolfgang.

The glass lid is fun because I can watch my stuff cook without lifting the lid. The handles stick out enough so that I don't burn my knuckels. They are also strategically placed to balance the weight, empty or full. I didn't notice that on the Wolfgang model.

In anycase, I have fried bits of meat on the bottom and then added liquid for soups and sauces. I have added cold stuff to hot and not had a problem with loosing heat.

This is a sturdy pot. The stainless steel is thick and it easy is to clean. It heats quickly when your hungry and can simmer sauce for hours without complaining.

If you are looking for a stockpot (especially for spaghetti sauce), go with the Calphalon - you can saute tomatoes on the bottom without any concerns.
