As the title states, my problem is with the packaging, not the DVDs. I have read that the sixth season has available the regular box for storage instead of the pathetic platic head which does little to protect the DVDs inside. The problem is that I have recieved this set as a gift.To be able to send away for the box, you must have proof of purchase. The set I've recieved came without anything inside except the DVDs. No receipt, no UPC code on the box and no proof of purchase. Therefore, no box. Fox refuses to send me a box, not even if I offer to pay for it as well as the shipping and handling. If I want the Box, I'll Have to purchase another set and use the information from that. Also, this offer only applies to the sixth season. I also have season seven in the plastic Marge head, recieved as a gift, and I hate that packaging just as much. This they do not give the option of purchasing the case. What a ripoff!!!!
Season Six Is Underrated Because Of New Packaging!, Get Over It! - Review written on January 17, 2007

In the begining I didn't like the whole new packaging thing, It didn't go well with the first five seasons and their boxes, but now I think it's very cute even though it still doesn't match the others. The box really doesn't matter because this season is so funny that I forget when I'm watching it that it came in a hollow Homer head. I've rated this season on it's storylines and not it's box, so I'm not going to give it a four star like alot of people here did, I'm giving it five out of five!. Luckily this boxset comes with a piece of paper that tells you how you can get regular box like the first five seasons.
P.S - However I'm so grateful that they still are sold in their original boxes too, not that the heads suck, but after a period of time, the head boxes in the stores become beat up, which leads to disc falling out of their holders, making them Scratched up, so good luck to whoever just got to this season.

I am a diehard Simpsons fan, but I am disappointed that Fox wouldn't give me the option to buy the square box, this Homer head is cool, but it gets annoying to keep opening it and closing it. I sent out $2.98 for shipping(Box is free, just pay S&H, another Fox scam) The new box is much better though. The disc case slips in at the top. Thankfully, this experiment is over, although I might find myself buying both the regular and the collectible head in the future. Oh, the Simpsons episodes are also great, with the Who Shot Mr. Burns Pt. 1, and the rest of the 6th season laughs. So, if you are planning to buy this set, make sure you have a check or money order for 2.98 made out to 20th century fox, you'll need the new case, trust me.

Season Six of the Simpsons starts the new age of animation with the perfect animation without any problems like large pupils, and is the same until they use digital animation with the later seasons. As you can see, Season 6 was a solid season, but as good as 4 or 5. I didn't like some of the episodes that much. This season is packaged is a Homer Head. It's pretty neat, but people complain how it's cheap and its not like the other boxheads. It's not that bad. There's a number you can call to get the regualar box intsead or you can goto www.simpsonsbox.com

Great episodes, weak presentation. - Review written on July 25, 2006

Great episodes: This is really my favorite season of the Simpsons. It is probably, in all honesty, the season where the Simpsons is the most funny... this is where the humor and comedy hits the top of the chart, and we get some very classic episodes and storylines that are both original and enjoyable to the audience. So for the reason, I do recommend that fans buy this.
Weak Presentation: As many people have already said, the packaging is weak. You can't stand it up unless it is cushioned in between a few other DVD's. The head was alright at first, but it did start to be a noticeable inconvenience. That is why I won't give the product in its entirety 5 Stars! But I think the packaging has been discussed enough. So now I will proceed to personally reviewing every episode.
Bart of Darkness: Ironically, the first episode of this season is probably one of my all-time favorites in all of the Simpson's series. (5/5) * * * * *
Lisa's Rival: This episode introduces a character named Allison that is indeed a worthy rival for Lisa. (5/5) * * * * *
Another Simpsons Clip Show: One of the best clip shows to date. Really entertaining and funny to watch. (5/5) * * * * *
Itchy & Scratchy Land: Great I & S episode of the season. Very funny! (5/5) * * * * *
Sideshow Bob Roberts: Good episode, but could have been funnier. (4/5) * * * *
Treehouse of Horror V: This episode is great! My second favorite Treehouse. (5/5) * * * * *
Bart's Girlfriend: A touching and heart-felt episode. (5/5) * * * * *
Lisa On Ice: A very weak episode. Failed, in my opinion. (2/5) * *
Homer Badman: Funny, but average. (3/5) * * *
Grampa VS. Sexual Inadequacy: Good episode with strong storyline and humor to boot! (5/5) * * * * *
Fear of Flying: Another heart-felt episode worth watching. (5/5) * * * * *
Homer the Great: Classic episode. Great animation, storyline, and humor. This is the series at its best. (5/5) * * * * *
And Magge Makes Three: Funny and has a very touching end. Find out how Homer went completely bald! (4/5) * * * *
Bart's Comet: Another episode that represents the Simpsons at their best. (5/5) * * * * *
Homie the Clown: Come follow the adventures in the life of a clown! (4/5) * * * *
Bart VS Australia: Classic episode. Strong animation, storyline, and humor! (5/5) * * * * *
Homer VS Patty & Selma: Not being a fan of Marge's sisters, I never grew too fond of this episode. (2/5) * *
A Star Is Burns: Funny, but average. (3/5) * * *
Lisa's Wedding: One of my favorite episodes in the series! Strong, heart-felt storyline and humor. (5/5) * * * * *
Two Dozen and One Greyhounds: A great Mr. Burns episode. (4/5) * * * *
The PTA Disbands!: Good episode, but not exceptional. (3/5) * * *
'Round Springfield: A touching, classic episode that will be remembered when the Simpsons ends. (5/5) * * * * *
The Springfield Connection: Get to see Marge as a cop! There are just some HILARIOUS jokes in this one! (5/5) * * * * *
Lemon of Troy: Average. (3/5) * * *
Who Shot Mr. Burns? (Part One): Classic episode that is yet another example of the Simpsons at their best. (5/5) * * * * *
Do I suggest buying this DVD? Definitely! It has some very funny and classic episodes, that will have you laughing the entire time. The only nitpick I have about this is the packaging, as has been said before. Maybe FOX has learned its lesson, and we can move on from here.
Best... season... EVER! - Review written on July 01, 2006

Unfortunately I could not give this product 5 stars, simply because the packaging leaves something to be desired. It appears this is some kind of cruel joke that the folks at Fox decided to play on Simpsons fans. The concept is kind of cool - that once you open up Homer's head, its contents will come spilling out - but it is also much less user-friendly than previous seasons' packaging.
As for the episodes themselves, I believe that the writers reached a creative genius peak during this season. Episodes like Homie the Clown, Homer the Great, Homer vs. Patty & Selma, A Star is Burns, Lemon of Troy, and Who Shot Mr. Burns (part 1), among many others, have multiple-view value. Whenever I have time to sit and watch a few episodes of the Simpsons, this is invariably the season I reach for first! I own all 7 seasons released to date, and this one represents the best overall selection of hilarious episodes!
I will not bore you with episode summaries or my personal rating of each episode - there are plenty of reviews out there like that already. But for those who have yet to purchase any Simpsons on DVD, I recommend starting with this one!
Simpsons Season #6 - Review written on June 23, 2006

=+= Opening Statements =+=
The first thing I must say about this set, is that the idea of the box looking like Homer's head is very creative. I was a little mad at the fact that it would not go with the other DVDs but hey..it is pretty creative. On another note, this is one of my favorite seasons and it was well worth the packaging. Here's the rest of my review.
=+= Episodes =+=
In 4 disks, there are 25 different episodes. Now, I'm not going to explain ALL of the episodes buy I'll explain some of my personal favorites.
-Another Simpson's Clip Show- This episode is about a time when Marge reads a romance noval and ends up talking about it to the kids. There we see many past relationships that the Simpson family had. Like Marge with Jaque, Homre with Mindy, Ralph and Lisa, and Bart with..erm..I forgot.
-Homer Badman- After taking Marge to a candy convension, Homer finds a rare gummy that he steals. When taking the babysitter home, the gummy is on the babysitter's butt. Homer grabs the gummy and the babysitter files a charge of sexual harrassment.
-Homie The Clown- Krusty is going bankrupt! So he must open a Clown Collage in order to help him pay off his depts. Meanwhile Homer goes to that Collage and ends up going around as Krusty. He ends up getting caught by the Mob.
=+= Final Thoughts =+=
To end it all up, the Homer shaped box that is Season 6, is not that bad. The episodes are perfect, the bonus features are interesting, and it is a perfect addition to your Simpsons collection.
Total 5-5

The Simpsons are now at the top of their game. After five very good seasons, by this sixth series, The Simpsons had permeated into pop culture. They were everywhere. Everyone knew who they were. And the amount of merchandise avaliable was just staggering.
So Season six had an awful lot of anticipation behind it when it was first aired. And it succeeds in every way.
Plot details this time round were more detailed than ever before, but the joke rate still caused a laugh a minute. There are visual gags, one liners, and enough adult jokes that fly over little kids head to appeal to everyone.
Standout episodes are the Halloween special, featuring the Shining (Ssh, lad, do you wanna get sued? It's the Shinning!), the episode where Bart insults Australia and the now infamous Who Shot Mr. Burns.
This last epsiode was a season cliffhanger, the first time The Simpsons had used a to be continued to end a season. Everyone in Springfield could have killed Mr. Burns, and everyone had a motive. So who was it? You have to wait till season 7 is released to find out!!
The extras, as usual for Simpsons DVDs are plentiful, except this time we get a 20 minute doc, which is a tongue in cheek look at the Anerica's Most Wanted TV show, called Springfield's Most Wanted, and it builds up the Who Shot Mr. Burn's episode. Otherwise, you get commentaries on ALL episodes, animation showcases, just loads of stuff to watch.
AS usual, its real value for money for a full season of my favorite show.
My Favourite Simpsons Season - Review written on June 10, 2006

The Simpsons seemed to have a string of excellent seasons, which in my opinion strings from 3-8. Season 6 certainly produces a number of classics, in is my personal favourite. Along with the amazing storylines and hilarity, they feature a number of famous guests including Meryl Streep, Mel Brooks, and Jon Lovitz to name a few. The Extras are also a great asset to the 4 disc DVD, which has commentary for every single episode, 20 minutes of deleted scenes, animatics, etc.
The very first episode of the season "Bart of Darkness" is one of my all time favourites, as Bart's summer is destroyed by a broken leg. Meanwhile, while using his telescope, believes Ned Flanders has murdered his wife. "Treehouse Horror V" is also my personal favourite of all the halloween specials, specifically for their version of the film "The Shining". The 2nd Disc on here has some more greats. Bart becomes infatuated with Rev. Lovejoy's daughter in "Bart's Girlfriend", Homer is accused for sexual harassment ("Homer Bad Man"), and Marge is terrified of planes ("Fear of Flying"). "Homer The Great" will always be a classic too, when Homer takes over The Stonecutters cult. Along with the great episodes comes some classic songs. As well as The Stonecutters track, Mr. Burns shines in his song that could be called "See My Vest" in "Two Dozen and One Greyhounds". Jon Lovitz is fantastic in "A Star is Burns" ("He knows the entire hot dog song!"). "Who Shot Mr. Burns" is also a fitting cliffhanger, with Burns getting in a classic line before falling on the sundial ("Are you okay man?" says Jimbo. "I..won't...dignify that with a response.")
Overall, there is not much more I can say about this season except highly recommend it. As for the packaging, I didn't have to put up with it because I got it off Ebay. If you are a Simpsons fan, this is one season you simply cannot pass up.

Ahh, the 6th season of the Simpsons! Another great installment of the world's greatest cartoon! I'm not here to complain about the packaging. Personally, I don't mind it at all. All the episodes are great (as always). If you'd ask me, however, the best episodes are:
Homie The Clown ("Who am I clowning? I have no business being a clown! I'm leaving the clowning business to all the other clowns!")
Homer The Great ("What do you mean isolated? Ated? Ated? Ated?)
Homer Bad Man ("touch a butt, go to jail")
Grandpa VS Sexual inadequecy (Can't think of a funny line at the moment)
Lemon of Troy ("Shut up!")
Who Shot Mr. Burns ("Almost sexual, isn't it?")
But like I said, all the episodes are great.
If you're a Simpsons fan, you already own this. If you are and you don't own this, shame on you! Slap yourself upside the head and buy it!
Can't wait to buy Season 8!
