At an amazing price, these DVD's are a great investment. Instead of purchasing 50 DVD's for $24, I researched a little more and was able to get double for only $3 more. What a great deal!

I have two different 16x burners with the latest firmware that can only burn this media at 4X. Very dissapointing as every other brand I have tried burned at least over 8X.

I use these to record a radio show each weekday. I have been doing it for for over five months now and have had zero problems with them. Plus, the sound quality I get is perfect. This is a great deal for a quality product. If you need DVDs, buy these!

The DVD's are great.

Unfortunately, Amazon shipped them basically as a loose spindle in a large box, they were broken open and scattered about the box by the time I got them. Some have failed to burn on this set for my first time ever with this specific DVD.

I love Memorex DVD-R next to Sony DVD-Rs these are awesome! I burn tons of data on to DVDs as a computer Tech (customer backups, My own backups, and pictures for my family). I will tell you I verify all DVDs after writing them. Memorex offers a pretty muted nice surface for Sharpies, and I find an average of only 7 bad Discs which 7% is a very good for 100 DVD-Rs.

These things are CHEAP! And I don't mean that in the sense that they're a bargain, they're a ripoff. I tried to save some money and get these instead of a better brand. Failed burn, after failed burn, after failed burn. I ONLY BOUGHT A 10 PACK AND I'VE GOT 4 COASTERS!! If you want quality blank media, get Sonys. And If you really want superior quality then invest in some Taiyo Yuden brand media. They Are the best buy far. I've burned literally hundreds of disks on them and NEVER had a failed burn.

I ordered two 100 packs of Memorox DVD'S because the price was really good and they offered free shipping. Well I just want to say that over half of these DVD's were damaged. They did not work at all and my DVD player kept giving me a message that they were not blank DVD's. At first I thought it was my DVD player but I tried them in my other 2 DVD players and a DVD player at a friends house and got the same type of message on all of them. Maybe I got bad batch. Save your money.
Fine if they work with your drive - Review written on March 30, 2008

Rating: 3 out of 5

These Memorex discs are not recognized at all by my computer (a year-old MacBook Pro). I would stick the disc into the drive, the drive would spin the disc around for a while trying to figure out what to make of it, and would then spit it back out again. I tried with about a half dozen discs from random places within the spindle, and got the same results each time. I have used other media before without a problem, it's just these Memorex discs that seem to not work with my drive. Thankfully I have access to a few other computers through my university that are equipped with DVD burners, and I have had no problems burning these discs there.

To anyone thinking about purchasing these Memorex DVD-Rs for the first time, I would strongly recommend getting a smaller quantity than 100 to see if they work with the drive you intend to use them with. If they work, that's great. Go ahead and buy the 100 pack next time. If they don't work, then you've just wasted a little bit less money.

***** These Memorex DVD-R's deserve all 5 stars in my opinion. I waited before writing a review until I had used several. I have less than twenty left and had only one coaster out of the whole spindle of 100 so far. 99% is fine with me. I don't expect another dud in this batch. It works fine with my computer's dvd-burner. It's set to burn as fast as possible, and that's that.

Far cheaper than buying at Best Buy or any other retail store that I know of--even with shipping charges. I go though about one of these per month and only very rarely do I run across a disc that malfunctions. A bargain.
Disks are great but poorly packed by seller - Review written on February 10, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

Good disks but badly packaged by the seller. The spindle came smashed as did the plastic casing as the package was in a box with no packing inside. I can't be bothered to complain as it's effort on my part but I won't use this seller again as packing like that shows that they don't care. The disks however are great, I used 30 and have had no fails yet.

These DVDs burn at 4x on a brand new Dell. So purchase at your own risk understanding that there is good chance your burner/firmware will not support the purported 16x write speeds.

Not that hard....just blank dvds. Three things to consider are communication from the buyer, which was fine, and shape/shipping of the product upon arrival, which was as described, and the price, which was very reasonable!
Very Disappointing - Review written on January 04, 2008

Rating: 1 out of 5

I purchased 4 spindles hoping for the best but was disappointed right from the start. Due to very lax packing on Amazon's part, one of the spindles was completely broken, bits of it floating in the box. The disks were still on the spindle and, thanks to the little foam circles at the top and the clear plastic disk at the bottom, the disks themselves appeared to be undamaged. I tried to burn 11 disks selected at random from the entire spindle and only 5 wrote. And at least 2 of those had verification errors. I packed them all up, including the remaining disks from the broken pack, and sent them back.

These were about $.09 cheaper per disk than the others I'd been buying from Uline, but when more than half don't write, it's no longer a bargain. I'll stick with my Uline DVDs from now on.

I have burned over 300 of these brand of blank DVDs which should speak volumes. Sure there are a few duds in the pack, but I am more willing to acknowledge that as a hardware issue than a software one. I am perfectly happy with the quality of the discs and when I record HD programming from my DirecTV HD DVR I get discs with content that is extremely close (read barely notice the difference) to HD themselves.
Recommended.

I don't know why people have a problem with these DVDs. I have used three 100-pack spindles and am ordering the fourth. I have yet to find the first DVD that was bad. They work just great with my equipment, which is standard low-tech stuff. I have also used approximately 500 Memorex music CDs with similar results. Memorex is an excellent product in my book, and I will keep using them until they prove otherwise to me. Memorex 16X DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle)

The best, and at a very good price. All blank media is NOT the same; there are real differences in recordability (instance of recording errors), compatability, clarity, etc. I've tried several brands, and Memorex is just the best -- without being the most expensive.

Just try to find this many DVD's that are write ables anywhere else for the same price locally was foolish. They work like a charm albeit I am just spinning 8x not the full 16x speed as described but they burn great so far. Not sure if I will ever need any more than 100 DVD's but who knows?!?
fine DVD-R discs with just a note or two about them... - Review written on October 24, 2007

Memorex makes a very reliable blank DVD-R that can handle up to 4.7 GB of data. Moreover, these blank DVD-Rs are capable of recording data at speeds up to 16x. The data I record onto these lasts for years, proving the test of time. I have used these as data discs, discs to record video and discs to record video. Great!

The DVD-R discs are compact and easy to store. While the discs are still blank, store them in the circular case on the spindle that they came in. After your burn data onto them, I would recommend storing them in slim jewel cases instead of paper sleeves. It's just better protection for your DVD-Rs that have data stored on them. Don't store these discs, burnt or blank, in rooms that become very hot; this causes damage to any brand of this type of disc and you could lose data over time.

There are two caveats that many other people note about any brand of this product: when you are burning the data onto the blank disc, don't be surprised if you see that the data is burning at a rate slower than 16x. This can happen if your burner doesn't have the capacity to burn faster, or it may be a quirk. I am not a professional so I cannot be certain of precisely what causes this phenomenon; but I assure you that the extra minute or two (tops) that you wait to get your DVD-R completed is worth the wait. In addition, DON'T write on these using Sharpie ink pens. The ink can seep through the top coating of the DVD-R disc and slowly but surely compromise your data--and you wouldn't want that, now would you? If you need to label the discs, label its' jewel case using a post-it note. At least that's what I do.

Overall, Memorex blank DVD-R discs store data reliably over the years and I believe that an extra minute to burn the data onto the blank disc is well worth it in the event that it doesn't actually burn at 16x.

Use them in good health!

I have finally received my DVD-R' that I ordered way back on 08/05/07. I pay extra for Amazon Prime to receive my orders via two day delivery. It was all of 5 weeks not two days.
As far as the product purchased I am very pleased and will continue to use them as long as my computer supports the format.
I needed to blow off a little steam. Amazon 95% of the time will get you what you need in a quick and professional manner.

More than half of the discs failed to burn when the dual layer was engaged. They work great if the setting is on single layer...so what's the use of buying these Ritek manufactured discs? Don't let the cheap cost of a large spindle fool you...because you'll better buying the single layer discs. In contrast, I've never had rejections from the more expensive Verbatim brand.

Kind of a pain when you have to restart everything over and over again. We know for sure it was the DVDs being bad because we would try it again with another blank and it would record fine. I know you kind of tend to expect some of them to be bad, but I felt this was a little excessive.

As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various recordings from the 60's and 70's. Sometimes as a person that has worked in electronic stores my thoughts are requested on recording equipment and electronics.

Memorex 16X DVD-R (100-Pack Spindle)

It is important since DVD recorders will often not read a specific blank even though it is not defective that you are aware of the optimum blank for it. Many of the DVD Recorders/Burners will give you the preferred brands and even the maximum speed to burn.

Please don't think because you can use 16X speed it is the most optimum. If you look at the percentage of errors in DVD and CD recording the ultra fast speeds are more likely to result in errors. Work your way up. Regardless of the equipment you own, try recording first at 4x speed and then 8x. If you go faster than eight see if you are getting the same results. If you are pleased, by all means use the quicker burning speed but 8X will offer very strong results for DVD's and CD's.

Memorex has been ultra reliable for me as a recording medium for blank DVD's.

The DVD's have held up well and there have been very little that were defective right out of the package.

For maximum shelf life the recorded DVD's should be in jewel cases and not in paper sleeves. If you are into making your own labels make sure to use the better quality paper. The inferior thin labels not only will curl up before they are placed on the DVD but the glue will actually get into the DVD itself. Many defective DVD's are not the fault of the manufacturer but the consumer not using best judgment.

Enjoy the music and be well,
Craig Fenton

No question Amozon.com has these dvd's for the cheapest price around. But if you plan to buy 300 or more be ready to recieve some broken dvd's and cases. the price is the only reason i buy them from amazon.com they really need to do a better job at packaging these disc for shipment.

Media showed up well packaged, with no signs of any damage or mishandling. Great value with the 100 disc spindle. I've used over half of the DVD-Rs so far and yet to have a bad burn no matter which of the 3 burners I use, or which application does the burning. If your looking to lower the cost per disc this is definately the way to go.
