Good party music, nothing else. - Review written on January 15, 2007

The last two Black Eyed Peas releases, "Monkey Business" and "Elephunk" broke BEP into the mainstream, and -not so surprisingly- they have also contained more club-oriented cuts. With Monkey Business, BEP strayed away from their hip hop roots and made an album full of dance beats and party lyrics.
However, "Unison" feating Sting does have some rousing connotations, and "They Don't Want Music" is a pretty interesting track with a good message about today's music industry. The singles "Pump It" and "Don't Phunk With My Love" are nothing more but club singles, as you would expect. If you're looking for thought provoking, intellectual lyrics you might want to look somewhere else (if you've heard "My Humps" then I don't feel I need to expand my argument on that point any further.) For the people who claim this is "the best album" they've ever heard, there is much better hip-hop out there. You just have to look for it (outside what's being fed to you on radio.)
What an outrageous group! - Review written on November 10, 2006

What an outrageous group, how can anyone like this rubbish. Maybe an horde of brainless people. How I feel happy in being intelligent ,living my life with things of absolute quality and not consuming this kind of food for mediocres. How said Romans, "it's just bread and circus to the poors". Give to people what they deserve, rubbish! It's because you mediocre people that buy this, that this kind of people, the members of this group, get money and laughs behind the scenes about how dumb people can be. It's the same horde that buy, Beyonce, Spears, Madona, and other outrageous poor music.

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews about this album. The truth is that it's really good.
Pump It - Great way to start off...catchy
Don't Phunk With My Heart - Overplayed but was great when it first came out
My Style - Hot!
Don't Lie - Catchy lyrics, Fergie is really good in this one
My Humps - Stupid but fun! This is not supposed to be a serious song people!
Like That - Great rhymes an great beat, one of the best songs on the album
Dum Diddley - My personal favorite, good beat
Feel It - One of the weaker tracks, not bad tho
Gone Going - Meaningful and catchy
They Don't Want Music - Another ok track, not my favorite
Disco Club - Weak but listenable
Bebot - Great beat! Lyrics are in another language but not bad
Ba Bump - Ok song, cool beat
Audio Delite At Low Fidelity - Very catchy,
Union - Meaningful lyrics and great beat
In conclusion, this is one of the only CD's I can listen to without having to skip any songs. The beats are great and the lyrics are meaningful. This is real music people, not the other kind of crap the music industry is cranking out today.
The worst CD in History! - Review written on August 11, 2006

The Black Eyed Peas are the WORST group is rap HISTORY! Its hard to believe that anyone could make music worse than the Black Eyed Peas. This group is an embarasment to Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, and any other type of music ever created. How and why people continue to support these lame, extremely non-talented rejects of the rap world is completely unbelievable. I thought thier last CD was trash, but this has incredibly surpassed the low mark set by Elephunk, which should have been called, "Hey let'sell out and attempt to create the worst music ever known to man". The only good news is that theyll soon be forgotten about as they have just murdered thier musical careers, and will have to resort to doing jingles for commmercials in order to survive. These three unoriginal, talentless, boring, annoying, sellout, fake wanna-bes should stop making ANY kind of music and get completely out of the music business. Tonight I willl pray very hard that these bafoons of the music industry NEVER make another song EVER!!!! To say that they SUCK would be a compliment, they would have to practice constantly for the next 1,000 years THEN make a deal with the devil just to scrape up enough talent to suck! Theyre just that HORRIBLE!!!
Rhythmic, Catchy, Cute, Wild - It's Monkey Business! - Review written on August 02, 2006

On Monkey Business, BEP wasn't necessarily producing a hip-hop / rap album. If one tries to classify the album (a staggering solid 15 tracks!), one may - and quite rightly - arrive at the conclusion that it was more of an album which cleverly married rap with innovative dance beats (a little like CD2 of Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below), rather than going the quotidian path of rappers rapping about how good, powerful, big, rich, bad, gangsta etc they are over unimaginative, heavy bass beats. Now THAT is tired, if you ask me.
Reviewers who complain about how Monkey Business "isn't hip hop" etc and gave it low grades have totally missed the point.
This is a shamelessly groovy album, drawing inspiration from other mega-hits (e.g. "Don't Phunk With My Heart", "Dum Diddly" & "Union") and featuring mega-popstars (e.g. Justin Timberlake & Sting). This album is SO rhythmic, catchy, cute and wild, you should be shaking your bootee to it if you had any sense of rhythm and style. Afterall, "there ain't nuthin' wrong with a woman in a club gettin' freaky to the song". Amen to that.
Special mention has to be made about the tracks "Don't Lie" (a catchy, sunny ditty about not lying), "My Humps" (groovy, cheeky, stylish - a LOT of people appear to like this), "Disco Club" (again it's catchy & groovy, suitable for putting in your stereo as you are driving to a club), and "Union" (a nod to Sting's 'Englishman In New York', with cleverly-altered lyrics about fighting for a peaceful and harmonious world).
Finally, I am in awe with "Bebot" - Allen Pineda Lindo's modern tribute to his roots. After 4 seconds of a tacky faux opener, strong beats kick in, syncopated with claps and tambourine slaps, "bebot"-ing away, creating a delicious recipe for disco hell. Then enter Filipino rap - perfectly legitimate, perfectly meaningful, perfectly empowering. There are readily-available translations online, which should shed some light on why this song is such a beautiful, enjoyable tribute.

JUST PLAIN OLE FUN MUSIC - Review written on May 23, 2006

Okay, so the black-eyed Peas aren't the most creative when it comes to writing lyrics, but they sure do know how to get the crowd jumpin' with awesome beats! I've read many of the comments, and all I can say is lighten up. Yes, Outkast is one of a kind. I live in Atlanta and have been listening to them since they wrote the lyrics "you need to get up, get out and get something, don't spend all your time trying to get high..."
I love Outkast, but the Black Eyed Peas are something different. I think it's because of their silly lyrics and bumpin' beats people like me like them. The music is just fun to listen to. When I first bought the CD because of "Don't Phunk with my My Heart", my husband asked me why did I buy that junk. After listening to it a few times he couldn't believe how much he actually liked it.
For those that think it's lousy music, well, everyone has their opinion. I think that it's fun to listen to and even more fun to dance to. This is what Black Eyed Peas music is all about - having fun!
Yeah, this album would be brilliant if the only music left to listen to was Michael Bolton and Madonna... - Review written on May 21, 2006

C'mon, are you people serious? What's worse than the reviews that immortalize this band (oh my god the beats are so amazing, lolz!) are the people who try to justify this band's horrific music with the old "it's so bad it's good!" claim. NO, IT'S NOT GOOD, IT'S AWFUL! This is the type of junk that makes FM radio unlistenable and makes the youth of current American culture look like a bunch of tasteless idiots. This music blows, plain and simple. The lyrics are detestable. "My Humps" isn't funny or catchy, it's just annoying and a piss-poor excuse for a song. The only thing worse than that is the dreadful "Banana Song" (pukes in mouth). "Don't Phunk with My Heart" is another crappy song that everyone thinks is so clever, but is really just a bunch of boring, unoriginal lyrics mixed with a mediocore, traditional club-dance beat. And yes, I have listened to almost all the other songs and they all suck just as much ass as their most popular two. "Pump It" may be the only valid song on here, but the beat to it was stolen from about fifty other songs, so it doesn't count.
Here's a thought: do you know what band does music like this, but about a million times better? Correct answer: OUTKAST! They've been around six years longer and yet it seems like everyone is giving BEP credit for inventing this "new and amazing hip-hop sound". Outkast invented it. Outkast perfected it. Black Eyed Peas are merely a cheap imitation, with beats not nearly as creative and sharp, with lyrics not nearly as catchy and deep, and with musicians not nearly as stlyish and inventive as Big Boi and Andre 3000. The reviewer below me would have you believe that BEP invented this glorious sound, when it was in fact done first and done better by Outkast.
I'm sorry Miss Jackson, but the Black Eyed Peas can rot in hell. This music is nothing but generic radio garbage, typical, lame dance hall beats that our insanely retarded generation of American teenybopping losers who wish they were more black (obviously only applies to the non-black teens) has devoured like candy. And the worst part? THESE SONGS ARE EVERYWHERE! I'm so mad right now my blood is actually hot and my eyes are red. I hate this band so much...

For those who criticize Black Eyed Peas' style, remember that they come from the underground and they success keeping some of their undergorund roots. Maybe that's why you hate the way the "rap". But if you had paid more attention on their music and style, you'd have knwon that they moslty consider themselves as funk performers, not "rappers". You criticize them because they want to make it easy and positive. I may ask you why you want hip hop music to be complicated. It's like hip hop should just be about rapping, spitting complex verbs and tricky words with a high rate of agressivity and overestimation according to you... And it's you who dare to say that black eyed peas don't fit in a given category when you can't even separate hip hop in totally different categories ? The true impotent or ignorant people are those who judge without even knowing the basis of their judgements. Their hip hop style is closer to the original hip hop style, the one it had before it got commercial. You can't pretend to judge them in an artistic point of view, when your bases are the commercial stereotypes...
They've manage to rock an impressive number of persons, also very diverse, by singing hip hop, they've added musical elements that made their songs much enjoyable for the MAJORITY of listeners. Agree that reaching such heights with a hip hop style is vary rare.
