Great product.. Lowes dropped the Firestorm line and Walmart picked it up. My local wallymart has not stocked them yet, so I ordered it here.
Great to have portable power - Review written on September 20, 2008

Yes, I wish 18V cranked up like a gas powered unit...but the balance of power and length of charge is just right.

It'll keep whatever BD unit you're using going long enough for most jobs. Suggest keeping a second on the new power charger and keep on working.

What can I say,a second or spare battery is as far as I'm concerned a must...But I did recieve the primary purchase well before the spare battery for it which led to my having to spend more time on my project waiting for the OE battery to recharge..

This worked perfectly to replace the orginal battery on our cordless lawn trimmer. The lawn trimmer runs better then ever, it makes me wonder if the original battery was defective.
Great...better than previous 18 volt version! - Review written on July 01, 2008

The firestorm version of this 18v battery is much better and lasts longer than the older version. You have to make sure though that you use the recommended charger and not the older Blacker & Decker chargers because you won't get the full charge. I have a pretty big backyard with lots of trimming and shrubs and one battery can last through trimming the entire yard where previously it took two!

Fortunately, I now have (4) FireStorm batteries as I have the 18volt trimmer/edger and the 18 volt driver/drill--this gives me an advantage when using my equipment--always a battery ready for use--------------

I brought this battery to replace the original battery which came with the Black&Decker saw kit. The original lasted about 1 year. This battery didn't last a month of regular home use. Very disappointing.

As one reviewer indicated the interchangeability of the batteries makes the entire Black and Decker 18 volt line very addictive. I find myself looking for tools that work with the batteries.

As for the batteries themselves the big positive is the interchangeability. There are two significant negatives. The first negative is that the charger that comes with the batteries and the tools is a dumb charger that does not tell you if it is complete or not. This is annoying. The second issue is the batteries are slightly anemic. Not bad since they are interchangeable but still a little more power and longevity would be nice. Don't worry though. Black and Decker has a silver series of the batteries that purports to be 40% longer life.

Overall a great system and one I am please with.

I'm in the process of building a deck and had tons of screws to drive to hold down the deck boards. Well, things started off great but then went downhill fast. These batteries just aren't made for constant use. After a while I found myself sitting there waiting for the batteries to recharge. I was switching off between 2 of the 18v batteries and another B&D drill with 2 12v batteries. Ended up borrowing 2 more 18v batteries from a neighbor to get me going again while mine recharged. As an FYI, one of my 18v batrteries is the silver series which are supposed to be more powerful. Save your money, they're not not any better than the regular ones.
B&D Batteries Do Not Hold Up - Review written on May 04, 2008

I bought one battery pack when I bought my new B&D drill in February 2007. I am a very light user and when the battery would not charge up in April '08 I bought a new battery, did the inital 9 hr. charge as the directions stated and the battery lasted about 20 seconds. Neither battery will charge up enough to use. Sorely disappointed. I am switching to Makita or DeWalt.
Plan on replacing them with serious use - Review written on May 01, 2008

Rating: 3 out of 5

I use these batteries with the B&D chain saw. That may be more power hungry than some tools.

When brand new, the saw really hums, wow! After 20 to 30 charges, though, the batteries seem to charge to about 70% of the "out of the box" capacity. I've had two that just died - would not hold a serious charge - within the Amazon product return time window (which they graciously replaced or refunded). Clearly there is some variability between individual batteries, but I'm guessing a max usable lifetime of 100 to 150 charges, if the battery makes it that long.

I have four of these batteries, have charged each no more than 10 times. Two hold a charge for mere minutes. The best holds a serviceable charge for about 15. B&D should be ashamed and should come up with a decent battery or abandon the cordless market.
Weak battery - Review written on March 24, 2008

These batteries only last one season with full charges, after that you will only get 20 minutes on a charge. I have four batteries each with a different longevity. Also, they do not hold a charge when on a shelf, you have to plan ahead and charge the one you will use that day. A second one will not be fully charged by the time thr first one dies. They work good when brand new but will grow weaker during the season.

Many Walmarts are blowing out a B&D 18v cordless drill kit that includes the drill, an additional 18v flashlight and stud finder that inclues TWO OF THESE FIRESTORM 18v BATTERIES FOR $20. Best deal while you can find them. Batteries in this package were manufactured in 2/07.

I have a complete suite of Firestorm lawn tools. Three batteries did not allow me to hedge, trim and blow off my drives. I picked up a total of 7 batteries (and a quick charger). Now I don't have to split tasks up.

Another benefit is B&D made these batteries common to many of their tools. I plan to pick those up to complement my Craftsman cordless tools as needed.

Batteries work fine and have a life of approximately two years of use. The price of the battery seems high relative to the purchase price of a B&D tools they power.

I have the two batteries that came with my brush hog.I have another that works with my small chain saw. so I bought another to extend the time I can weed eat. I carry 4 batteries 3 in my pocket and one on the weed eater.this allows me to do all my driveway 110 yards long. and some other grassy areas. I love the convenience and the power. They're light enough to carry and strong enough to do good work.My B&D chain is also a hard worker. very light and powerful.Happy in Oklahoma!

I had purchased a Black & Becker cordless hedge trimmer. I needed a back up battery and found just the one I needed at Amazon in the form of FSB18 18-volt battery. My owners manual didn't list that one, but it turned out to be just the one I needed. It has a lot of reserve power for the tiring process of trimming and it holds a charge well. I am very happy with this purchase.

New batteries are amazing. They almost make the tool explode with power.
What is the life span of a Black and Decker 18 volt battery? Will this be a yearly event or will these batteries outlast the original ones that came with the lawn tool?

The battery was purchased as a back-up to the one that came with a cordless Black & Decker drill. It is identical to the one that came with the drill. Had I purchased it through a regular dealer, it would have cost $49.99! I got it for a lot less plus a discount for a first time use of the Amazon credit card. Can't beat that price!

Battery used with tree limb pruning chain saw. Provides adequate power for 30-45 minutes. Cuts through thick branches. Recommend spare battery in case the battery used is partially discharged at time of use and to avoid delay of recharging.

Hopefully this replacement will last longer than the one year (and under 100 charges) of my original. If not, it will be time to read up on the warranty terms!
