The handle is really long. It is a great size and I bought it to replace my most used Visions pot and my facial muscles deconstricted the very first time I used the metal chef's pan. The visual of the brown glass was really stressing me out. It worked fine. I have no complaints. I recommend it.
It came with a recipe card for Mediterranean Macaroni and Cheese.

What is a chef's pan?
A medium depth pan that generally has flared or rounded sides but is sometimes found with straight sides. It has a flat bottom and wide mouth, which accelerates the evaporation of liquids. A chef's pan most often will have a long handle and a tight fitting cover. It is made of a metal with a thick ground base that allows temperature changes to occur rapidly as the level of the heat applied to it changes, either increasing or decreasing for the best heat conduction. Chef's pans are available in a variety of sizes such as 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 quart. The height of the sides make it easier for sautéing, frying or steaming greater amounts of foods, allowing sufficient space for turning and stirring of the contents. Chef's pans are very similar to saucier pans and either pan can be used interchangeably.
Great Pot - Tough to Clean - Review written on June 22, 2006

I've had this pot for about a month now, and use it often. The handle on the pot stays cool, it's a great size, the shape is perfect for stirring, the see-through lid is wonderful, and the price is excellent. My only complaint is that it's been hell to clean. I don't have a dishwasher, so I scrub (and scrub and scrub) by hand, but there always seems to be a thin film of whatever food I was cooking stuck to the bottom (even with overnight soaking), and the inside becomes weirdly discolored even after I clean it, from doing non-messy things like boiling pasta. Bar Keeper's Friend helps a bit, but this pot literally takes me 15 minutes to even get it passably clean (forget new-looking/shiny).
Unbelievable price for a great pot! - Review written on November 11, 2005

First of all, in case you're concerned, let me say that the quality of Calphalon's stainless cookware has greatly improved as they have recently made the switch from not-so-good impact-bonded stainless bottom (Simply Stainless) to a tri-ply construction that's on par with All-Clad.
As a result, this pan offers very good heat retention and distribution (i.e. no hot spots), and clean-up is a breeze. Since I got this pan, I have been using it for every thing from small batches of soup, cheese sauce for mac'n'cheese, spinach filling for spanakopita... And with that rounded bottom, I cannot wait to make risotto!
Also, the glass lid fits very nicely and makes it easy to watch what's going on inside your pan.
This is not just a great value for the price -it's a great pan, which just happens to have an unbeatable price.
