The backpack works great. My laptop fits into the sleeve snugly and feel very protected. There is plenty of room for books and binders as well. Overall the backpacks feels incredibly well made and sturdy.

Best Backpack Ever - Review written on September 30, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

This is the best backpack I've ever found for a computer, bar none. It is incredibly tough and rugged, with one of its most notable aspects being the steel cable re-enforced handle at the top of the bag. This handle will never rip on you, as you can expect with some other backpacks under heavy load.

I think this pack was designed in mind with the person who wants to take his computer and just about every other neat thing he can think of with him wherever he goes. There are so many different pockets and zippers and slots and sections. It is one of the most impressive designs I have ever seen.

The straps are incredibly well padded, with expanding re-enforced straps that kick in only when there is enough weight to expand them. The inside of the pack, where it rests on your back has very excellent padding with a large lumbar supporting pad at the bottm.

This pack is top-notch, there are none better.

There are a very few stuff I do not like about the bag, however since the bag saved my life, I really can't complain.
How it saved my life, I'm 21 yea old idiot who decided to make a sharp turn at 50-60 mph. Since at the time I was a new motorcyclist I wiped out high side and it through me 5-10 feet. Luckily I landed on my back and was wearing this bag pack (full of clothes I left at my friend's house over the years, no laptop). Then I slid another 10 feet until I hit a curb. I swear if I was wearing something cheep like Jan Sport, I'm sure I would not be here today. After the accident I was kind of shocked, my backpack was still in usable condition. Only the zipper jammed, and the shock absorber started to lose some thread.

What I like about the bag, it's very roomy it has a lot of compartments. If I wanted to kill my back I can literally carry all text books for 2-3 of my class plus a laptop. It has a shock absorber which I think it's pretty cool (I don't know if it physically works, I think it's just more a mental thing). There is a lot of patting between you and the backpack.
What I really don't like, someone said earlier here, I really don't like that fact it has no padding for the laptop on the top. If you drop your bag and lands on the top you will damage your laptop. For me I only have body damage for the laptop, everything else works. So if the manufactures reads this I wish you guys added more padding on the bottom of the laptop and the top.
Would I buy it again? If I needed a back pak just for everyday use, I would buy it in a heartbeat. However since my laptop is the main reason I bought this bag pack, I'm would look for something that had more padding on the top and bottom.
But as for like impact areas,
Top 2/5
Side 4/5
Front 5/5
Back 5/5
Bottom 3/5
Satisfied with my investment? Yes

I had to replace the motherboard and memory chips after being caught in the rain without an umbrella. Never had this problem with previous backpacks.

Otherwise nice backpack, seems sturdy. It has a lot of space without impacting the shape of the backpack.

Good size - Review written on June 16, 2008

This bag has a lot of room for pretty much everything you would want to put in it from a computer related standpoint. There are tons of pockets and I can fit all of the things I need in it easily (and I carry around a lot of stuff). I have a 15.4" computer and it fits well in the bag, but it would be nice if the padding came all the way to the top of the computer rather than leaving the top couple of inches exposed. That's a minor complaint though.

The padding on the straps and the back of the bag are great and make this bag very comfortable to carry around if you are forced to have it on your back for a while.

It's a good bag for the price, it's solidly built, and it has lots of room for plenty of supplies.

I looked long and hard for a laptop backpack - I was tired of the standard laptop case that couldn't carry an apple or bottle of water. I found this backpack at an office supply store but it was MUCH cheaper through Amazon...
I'm a 46-year-old exec who does a lot of business travel, so I've put this pack through the ringer. It's extremely sturdy and well-made (it's Swiss - what else would you expect), the zippers (all 11) are strong, and it's got some great features. I like the quick-access pocket at the top for keys, cell, etc., as well as the internal flap that holds it upright on the floor. The padding is excellent - very comfortable for that long haul across DFW!

This is a good buy for the price. I've had this bag two years now and the seams are starting to unravel, but it's lasted good until now. My only other complaint is that it's quite heavy - add 10lbs to whatever load you are carrying
well designed backpack - Review written on June 01, 2008

I purchased this pack for a son going to college. I ended up using it for a couple of months myself. It is very designed and built. It has pockets everywhere. It has a surprising amount of padding on the back to allow comfortable carrying of a laptop and other papers. Zippers appear to be first quality.
Only issue of concern it that the pack is smaller than the massive LL Bean packs that my HS kids now have. It will probably not hold a days worth of college books. But what it will hold, it will hold in comfort. Fits a 15 inch laptop well.
Comfortable backpack with lots of space - Review written on May 26, 2008

My employer purchased this bag for me to use to transport my laptop back and forth to work. The first thing I noticed is that the bag can hold a lot of stuff. There is a padded compartment for laptops with screens up to 15.4", and it works great with my 14" IBM Thinkpad T43 and my personal 15" MacBook Pro. There are small zippered pockets on the inside of the two main compartments, a medium sized zippered pocket on each side on the outside, and a water bottle holder on each side. There is also a compartment on top with an MP3 holder and a hole for the headphone wire, allowing you to listen to music while the MP3 player is in the bag.

I am able to transport my laptop, power cable, mouse, multiple books, some magazines, my iPod and headphones, some notebooks, pens, and paper with room to spare. You could easily carry a laptop, some college textbooks, and notepads in this bag.

The bag is very comfortable with nicely padded shoulder straps and a nicely padded back. The part that rests against your back is made of multiple pieces of foam which are separated by gaps. The gaps allow air to flow across your back, helping to keep you cool. While it doesn't help too much while walking, it is very nice when I am riding my motorcycle.

My only complaint about the bag is the horizontal strap. Most larger backpacks have the strap down low so it rests across your waist and helps distribute the weight better. On this bag, the strap is up high, almost at shoulder level. It can be adjusted up and down a little bit, but not far enough to go below your chest. Usually it ends up almost around your neck. I have tried adjusting the shoulder straps so that the horizontal strap is as low as possible, but I can never get it to be comfortable. Instead, using the horizontal strap always results in the weight being distributed in a less comfortable manner, so I never use it.

This is the best computer backpack I have ever owned, even with the minor complaint.

Hi, this backpack is amazing, it carries everything i need and even more. My only problem with it is that it is a little too big, but not to worry about that. Everything else about it is very good. If you are looking for a backpack to hold your laptop and all the other stuff you need, or if you jsut need it for school ( i don't recomand it for girls ) this is probabaly one of the best backpacks out there for the price.

Works great for two 14" widescreen laptops - Review written on April 30, 2008

I was hoping that this bag would be my all in one tech bag, and it's that and more. I carry with me to work two 14" widescreen laptops (thinkpad t61 and dell latitude 620) and it works great. My initial concern was with my thinkpad. I have the 9 cell battery which sticks out quite a bit but it fits just fine with the battery connected. The second laptop may not have the greatest protection in the world sitting in the front but I also don't throw my bag around. The side pockets are great for carrying my two power supplies and there is still plenty of space for other items.

I've read other reviews that say the straps have too much cushion but I love it when I carry two laptops at once. Other bags I have would cut into my shoulders with the weight of two laptops. But the extra cushion is a life savor when carrying the bag for an extended amount of time.

Overall couldn't be more pleased with this buy.
LOVE IT!!! - Review written on April 29, 2008

Rating: 4 out of 5

I love this backpack! It is very sturdy, easy to use at airports, and it fits my Dell 17" widescreen laptop when just about every other laptop bag wouldn't. it's got tons of pockets, is well structured and stands up to abuse. I bought this in Sept of last year and have not had a problem with it. Even took it to Dubai twice! The only thing to be careful of is that if you do have a very wide laptop it will stick out above the padded sleeve a little. I've never personally had a problem but if you droped it repeatedly upside down it MIGHT hit the laptop. However there seems to be enough in the way (i.e the other pockets etc) that even then I think your laptop would still be safe. Overall a great value, good looking, and very comfortable to wear for long distances. The only real con for me is it is so big it doesn't fit well under some airplane seats and I've never liked using the overhead bins.

I'm going to make this short. I paid about $68 total and it's worth every penny. I'm a big guy over six feet and heavy-set. This pack is tough. I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 I use the pack to carry back and forth from my computer shop and When I'm out on my bike this pack is with me. It's got all the right compartments and I've got plenty of room left over for the future or I need to tote something. You pay a little more and it is made in China but it's a good deal.

I've used it a few weeks now and it holds up. I should also mention that it seems to be good about getting damp as well. I wouldn't trust it to get soaked but in a light rain your stuff should be good until you get shelter or it stops.

This bag is fantastic. It has plenty of room for my Dell Inspiron E1505 (15.4" widescreen) along with the charger, extra battery, and travel mouse. And it still has room for more stuff on top of all of that. Plenty of pockets (almost too many) and even when it's pretty full it doesn't strain your shoulders. Good comfort and great value. I've seen so many people with this same bag, especially when I'm traveling, that it clearly is popular. And for a good reason.

this bag is the ultimate if you're purely looking for room and space, however its far from being compact and handy if this the back you want just for your laptop to drag it to the cofeeshop. my main observation is that this bag actually weighs heavy even when its empty! its also bulky, compared to the star mode; (less spacious) it weighed much more. so bare that in mind before buying this bag.

After seeing a friend with a similar pack I was suffering from an exxtreme case of "backpack envy". I did a number of searches and came up with this one. Best feature is the laptop cradle that keeps my new Macbook safe. I can't get over the multitude of compartments that allow me to segregate business from personal stuff.

Everything I Was Looking For In A Backpack - Review written on March 23, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

In my job, I need to carry several books, folders, files and my laptop. I was tired of carrying an attache and a computer bag. This backpack fits everything! The straps are comfortable and seem very well made. There are many handy pockets and compartments to store everything you need - including a pocket for my ipod and two side mesh pockets for waterbottles or cans. And despite it's size, it does not feel heavy and the padding and distribution of weight make it easy to carry. I especially like the reinforced handle at the top, which makes it easy to grap with one hand when you are on the run! Highly recommended for students, pastors and anyone who has a lot to carry!

Very sturdy bag. Lots of pockets. Very pleased with it. But it is very big/bulky so don't get if you are looking for something small/light. I would never use it to tote my computer around everyday. I bought it to be a travel bag and it's been great for that purpose due to its sturdiness and a million zippered compartments.
Pretty much all you need - Review written on February 28, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

This backpack is awesome. It just feels solid and Ive had it for over a year, still feels strong. Plenty of pockets and locations for small items, any size calculator, documents, your mp3 player or ipod, pencils & other supplies as well as books. The handles and straps feel comfortable and sturdy as well, dont have to worry about hanging your backpack up somewhere or just be walkin and somethin snaps sending your laptop to the ground. Fits a 15 inch widescreen pretty well compared to other models, in a padded compartment held about an inch or 2 above the bottom of the backpack. Only thing I would complain about is its bulkiness. It really shows when you got a few books in there or you're in a lecture hall, almost needs a seat of its own. Even empty its still bulkier than I'd like, but oh well, worth the tradeoff.

These reviews must be from some pretty tall and strong people. I am a 5'2 college student, who is pretty athletic by the way, but this Synergy backpack was extremely bulky for my stature. Not only was I discontent with the appearance, but also the functionality. I could only carry two of my 450+ page books without feeling like I was going to tip over. In addition, the straps were possibly too thick as I frequently noticed "popped" blood vessels on my shoulders. I suppose I will continue carrying two bags (one for my laptop and the other for my books, of course) until I find something better...Too bad!

Got this backpack to go to the Dominican Republic and Europe later this year. Wanted something to bring along to complement a 21" weekender and wanted a pack with a sizable main compartment and lots of pocket options for everything else. Well this is the one. I was able to pack shoes, a change of clothes, a fleece and a rain jacket in the main compartment. All of my electronic stuff, cameras, books and tons of other things fit nicley in the assorted pockets and compartments. The pack was comfortable to wear and held up well in the Caribean. Love this pack......

Absolutely the best backpack for laptop transportation. The laptop is easy in / easy out. There is a myriad of pockets with zippers to hold nearly everything in a separate place to avoid tangled cords. In addition, there are 2 large pockets for papers, books, or other documents. On top of this there is room for my headset so that I can drown out noise on airplanes or watch a DVD.

This bag is very spacious for those of you that need to carry a laptop and other school supplies. I'm not sure how this bag will hold up over time, but I guess I'll have to wait and see. If you just need a simple laptop backpack, look for something smaller. The only downside to this bag is that there actually be TOO many pockets. I tend to forget where I placed something, but eventually you get used to that.

I've had the Synergy backpack for about 2 months. I had a feeling this was going to be a good product when after purchasing it on Amazon, I saw it in Best Buy for almost $40 more. I received it on time, well packed. The best aspect of this backpack is the number of storage options. I've managed to find the perfect home for all of my computer accessories. I travel with a number of small hard drives and cables needed to facilitate photo production and it all fits well. My computer (Apple MacBook Pro) has a thin protective case that it travels in and both fit nicely into the padded backpack pocket. I read reviews of some buyers who had problems with the computer fitting into the backpack. I noticed that there are some advertising pictures for the Synergy showing a computer being placed into the WRONG sleeve. No wonder people thought the product was poorly designed. The padded computer sleeve is located in the pocket closest to the shoulder straps and is noticebly thicker than the storage sleeve towards the front of the backpack.

The self-standing mechanism works very well, even when packed full of my stuff. I've taken the backpack on some short ocean journeys with heavy sea spray and everything inside was dry and free from sand, salt and debris. I love the small pocket on top for frequently accessed items like iPods, wallets and headphones. The two side mesh pockets are perfect for bottled water and umbrellas. The only feature I would change are the additional straps on the shoulder straps designed to secure the pack across your chest. I haven't used them (as I'm not a heavy outdoor backpacker) but they do not limit the pack's ease of use in any way.

Overall, I would highly recommend this backpack for anyone who travels or works with equipment that they can't be without. The protection provided to high value equipment is excellent and the storage options provide sufficient space for all your other stuff.

This bookbag/laptop bag is amazing. It holds more than I ever need it to, but it doesn't impede anything by having these capabilities. One of the best purchases I've ever bought and my laptop hasn't gotten a scratch. I highly recommend this for anyone who needs it.
