This keychain light is perfect for when I'm shooting video in dark rooms. I often travel when I'm recording videos, so I want to keep my gear as light as possible.

This light fits the bill.

Plus, the red light doesn't destroy your night vision. You can walk through a dark room, check a setting on your camera, and scuttle off in another direction ... without waiting for your eyes to re-adjust.

I'll probably take this with me on my next camping trip!

Highly recommended.

I'd highly recommend the Photon Micro-Light II to anyone wanting a small, lightweight but SUPER bright flashlight. They're durable, water proof and last forever... how do I know? Well, I attached one of them to my black lab's collar. I can click it on when we're outside after dark so that I can find him and passing cars can see him. He's worn it swimming in the lake numerous times, and we run at least once a day. If a flashlight can take that kind of beating (being on a dog collar) and still work flawlessly, it's a winner in my book!
Best keychain light ever !! - Review written on June 21, 2008

Having been previously given one of these as a gift and had it last over 3 years...I was disappointed in the substitutes that I purchased since then. One was the cheap UFO and it lasted only 2 weeks. One was more expensive and the light was okay, but the integrated ring broke off in about 15 months.
This is well made. The light is bright and because the switch is recessed...it doesn't light up in your pocket like some others.

Needed something I can read at night with (for referring to astrology books while looking at the stars) and not hurt my night vision as well as finding things in my purse/bag. Perfect, bright, and small. No complaints here.

Bought both the Photon Micro-Light II and the Princeton Tec Pulsar II (3 of each) as Christmas stocking stuffers last year. The Princeton Tec's were a big disappointment; they are useless now. The Photon Micro-Lights are still as bright as they were Christmas morning.

I needed a pocket flashlight that I wouldn't lose or forget to bring with me. I decided that something on my key chain would fit the bill. This Photon micro-light is great. It has a really bright beam and the quick connect that secures it to my keys is very easy to use. A good tool to have with you.

I liked it so much I bought a second one. Small, very bright. But small plastic switch to turn and keep light on would be very difficult for someone with arthritis. I struggle with it myself sometimes.

I love this powerful little little flashlight! It is easy to carry around unobtrusively on a key chain, and with its on/off switch it is a versatile, cost effective tool. Although I am pleased with my initial purchase, when I ordered four more of these for family members...I found a much cheaper price outside of Amazon.

Please beware that you can get almost the exact same light but with 22,000MCD LED's in a 10 pack for under $5 including shipping. I won't name the vendor but they are out there. I am irritated that this vendor is participating in highway robbery.

I moved back to my mom's house after having my baby. I live in the basement with my husband and daughter. We have a separate entrance around back. There is no light in the back yard. I didn't want to spend a lot of money to contract an electrician to hook up the lights so I started looking for another alternative. I came across this item and was pleased by all the positive reviews and purchased the flashlight. All I can say is wow. How can something so tiny radiate so much light. We will be satisfied with this buy.
Awesome Item, vendor gouged on shipping cost - Review written on February 08, 2008

I purchased this item as a back up to one I already have...it is great if you work with your hands in low light situations where you need bright light within about 3-4 feet of your face, or as a small virtually weightless emergency light. The LED comes with a clip that fits everythig from a hat visor to sun visor in your car and is simple but highly functional.
Unfortuneately, the vendor I purchased this item from (PresentsForYou) gouges you on the shipping cost...it cost as much to ship this item via regular post than the item cost me. You are not informed of this until after your purchase goes through. The shipping cost this vendor charged me was about $11, but the actual cost of shipping as printed on the package when it arrived was $4. Do the math.

I've had one of these Photon Micro lights for several years and it was time for a new one. I've owned several micro-lights and the Photon is my favorite by far. I like the new switch that lets you turn the light on and leave it on; I hiked several miles in Big Bend National Park one night by the light of the old one and my hand got very tired holding down the button! The good news was that the Photon light gave very adequate light to see the trail after my larger light failed. My other light was white; the red is good for not interfering with night vision and is still very bright.

I've only owned and used the Photon Micro-Light II Keychain Flashlight for about a month so this may be a bit early for a product review but here goes. So far - the key chain light is every bit as good as advertised. It's amazingly bright for it's size. It's very small and light (pun intended) which is nice. Prior to this keychain light I purchased 2 Brookstone keychain flashlights which both quit working within a month or so after using them. I'm much happier with the Photon Micro-Light. My only negative comment is that the small switch on the light does not switch the light on and off without holding it open. But this will probably prevent it from accidentaly going on while it's in my pocket which may be a good thing. Based on one month's use I would definitely recommend this product.

Really Bright Tiny Light - Review written on December 06, 2007

I bought this light a few months ago and have been very pleased. I used to have a traditional AAA battery filled mini-maglight for many years, but it finally got lost and I decided to replace it.

What immediately intrigued me (besides all the positive reviews on Amazon) was that it was much smaller and less bulky than my maglight. I could hook it to my keychain without feeling like I was carrying a bulky set of keys and accessories...

Don't be fooled by cheaper lights -they won't be as bright as this. I have used it to light my way through dark alleys, and to find something in darkened rooms). You never know how much you need instant light until the one time you really need it and don't have it...

I think it would make a great present for a loved one. For a guy, it is cool, and useful. For a gal, it is tiny, and unobtrusive, and can fit in the smallest purse...

There is also a mini on/off switch which you can use to keep the light permanently on -this is a nice feature which I haven't had to use yet.

The only drawback is that the price is high, but it is what it is... I'd buy it again.

I've had mine for about 4 years. I use it for walking at night so that the oncoming cars can see me. It has a little hold switch to keep the light on, so you don't have hold the button down the entire time. It is extremely light weight, and the battery and bulb are still the originals from 4 years ago.

This s perfect for the key chain. I first learned of the Micro Light when I went to an Army Base. Everyone uses them to see when "lights are out" - nice option to lock the light on vs. the I model. Highly recommend this light - bright and long lasting. The industry standard in my opinion.

I purchased the Photo Micro light a few weeks ago. The light produced was surprisingly bright. The small size is ideal for a key chain. Its basically an adequate flashlight that you can carry with you at all times. Far brighter than the cheap key chain lights sold in many stores. Also much brighter than the most popular alternative, the cell phone. Very happy with it so far.

This is a great little flashlight. Since I have it on my keychain, it's instantly available (no searching for a flashlight). I use it daily. The switch for locking the light on makes this one superior to the "squeeze only" version. The light it bright, and the two CR2016 batteries last for months. Changing the batteries is a little bit of a nuisance - you need a very small Phillips screwdriver and the procedure requires careful fiddling, but I change them so infrequently that the annoyance level is pretty low. I still give it five stars. Those less mechanically inclined might skip the battery change and just replace it.

I have been using the Photon Micro II (blue) for a long time and trust Photons to be bright and reliable. I thought the Freedom Micro was a great step up with lots of useful new features. The white light is extra bright than previous white lights. I love having this on my keychain for convenience. You never know when you need to see in the dark.

I bought the Photon II to replace an older key light, and it's sooo much better! It produces about as much light as my much bulkier 2D Maglite.

The button has the ideal pressure threshold to activate easily but not accidentally. The constant on switch is often handy, but it did require an unreasonable amount of force to activate until I operated it a few times. I don't know whether it's normal for the switch to have to be "broken in" like this or if it was a sample defect, but it works fine now.

The Photon II is pricey compared to other key lights, but if you use it anywhere near as often as I use mine, then you'll be glad you spent the extra couple of bucks.

This is a great keychain light. A little pricey for a tiny flashlight, but worth it. It is very bright, and can be dimmed when the high output isn't necessary. Vastly superior to a mag solitaire in terms of output, size and weight. Some of the functions aren't all that useful such as the SOS mode or the strobes. (My daughter likes the strobe though). They are at the end of the cycle though so they don't interfere with the normal on / off switching of the light.

I bought one of these at an Eastern Mountain Sports a few years ago. I thought the price was a little high at fist, but that went away after I got to use it.

It is very bright, I had the original battery in mine still after 3 1/2 years, but it was getting low. Replacement batteries are only about $3 for a good one.

I have purchased some of the generic keychain lights for other people as gifts, and none of them were nearly as bright as this one.

I lost a set of keys with the Photon II attached so I need to replace it, I wouldn't be hunting down the exact model again if I was not happy with the last one :)

I bought 4 of the Photon II Micro Keychains for Christmas presents this year. They are surprisingly bright for such a small bulb. The light is also not just a tiny pin point of light but can light up a small room or two car garage enough to make everything reasonably visible. I also bought one for myself. No more fiddling around with the house keys after dark because I forgot to turn on the front porch light. Although I have not changed the battery since it's new, it seems relatively easy to replace the battery should the need arise. The price of the photo II may seem expensive in comparison to other LED keychain lights, however given the durability and lifetime warranty, the photon II is a bargain.

I have been using Photon Lights for years and they are my favorite type of flashlight. The best thing about them is they're always there when you need them! They take up very little space on your keychain. The Photon Micro has fully electronic dimmer functions, strobe lights, and morse code signaling capability -- definitely a good toy for a gadget freak.

These lights lasts a long time, espescially if you have and use the dimmer when you want to preserve your night vision. It's also easy to replace the batteries with standard inexpensive CR2016 or CR2032 batteries, depending on which light you have.

There's a very convenient plastic clip mount available which you can use to attach your Photon to a hat, headband, bike or anything else. If you get the Photon Freedom Micro light, the clip and a keychain quick release are included.

Make sure your Photon Light is the new "2x brighter" edition if you're going for a white LED, or look into other colors/options. IR, UV, multicolor versions are available. There's a "covert" body style available which doesn't throw as much light to the sides - also good for preserving night vision.

Best all around is the new 2x bright white which is actually real white light (not light blue like older LED designs). The coolest looking color is probably the turquoise. The best combo for night hiking is the Freedom Micro Green (Covert).

You can find keychain flashlights on eBay for $1, but they are ridiculously inferior to this light. I've had mine for a month, and already used it several dozen times. I didn't know how handy these were! These Micro-Light II's use the newer Nichia LED's, which are twice as bright as normal LED's, but use the same amount of power (so these easily outshine most other keychain lights)... It isn't as bright as a hand-held flashlight, but you can easily use this for walking at night if you don't have access to a larger flashlight. The on/off switch also works great and does not accidentally turn on while in my pocket. I really have nothing to complain about this product, except that the price may seem high. In this case though you do get what you pay for. The batteries are two 2016 Li-Ion watch-sized batteries and are easily available at your local mega store or mall.

Beware that these are not very water resistant! I don't think water will permanently damage them, but you may not be able to get a light out of it while it is wet since seems to be no waterproofing on the case.

I was amazed when I saw the light output provided by the Photon Freedom white LED. I needed a small, yet fairly powerful flashlight to have with me all the time, so I decided to buy the Photon Freedom Micro White LED. It exceeded my expectations. Very small, very lightweight, yet incredibly powerful for a flashlight this size! Be sure to get the newer version which is even brighter. You won't be disapointed.

For years I have used a small keychain flashlight. The main problem was that the light was not very bright and the battery drained quickly.

I was looking for a replacement light when I cam across the PhotonMicro-Light II keychain flashlight. I am in law enforcement and use a high end 20,000 candlepower flashlight daily. So, fair or not, any flashlight I use gets compaired to that light.

The Photon kychainf is amazing. It provides an unobstrusted light which lights up the sidewalk, darkened doorways and provides good lighting to eliminate shadows for about a 20 foot range.

I particularly like the switch feature which I use fregurently while I fumble for keys in the dark.

These lights are simply the greatest -- very bright, long battery life, extremely small, and virtually unbreakable. I keep one on my keychain, one at home and one at the office. They are cheap enough to have a few. This brand is also the best in terms of build quality. I've compared the CompUSA ones, but these are the only ones used by NASA. . .

As a Scout Leader, I have searched for the handiest light source available. The Photon II, although pricey comes awful close to perfect. It's small, much brighter than you'd expect, and you can take it anywhere.
It is especially effective inside the tent---I tied mine to the loop at the top and it filled the tent with enough light for conversation. It makes a great reading light, if you don't mind holding it in your mouth, and it is especially helpful late at night when nature calls.
Good feature is the snap on/off switch--so you don't have to keep applying pressure to the switch.
Bad feature is also the snap on/off switch. If you put it in your pocket on a keychain, sometimes it gets switched on and that runs down the batteries.
A powerful flashlight is the tool of choice for nighttime trail walking, but in a pinch you could use this little guy.
It's also handy around the house or in the car---anywhere you need a dependable source of light.

This review is really about a better alternative to the Photon-II - the Inova Microlight. I purchased the Inova at CompUSA after doing some quick research on the net. The Inova is just as small as the Photon-II and in my opinion is a better design.

1) the case is screw-less; no micro screw-driver required for a battery change.
2) the Inova's small slide switch is easier to operate
3) the Inova's LED is recessed into the case and not exposed
4) the Inova's quick-clip is easier to attach than a split-ring.

All this at a price that is 2/3's the price of the Photo-II. (icing on the cake).
