I ordered this for my husband who is a huge fan of watches. Of course, he wanted a Breitling but that's a bit of a stretch under our current budget. This watch has a good weight to it and doesn't feel flimsy like some cheap watches. It looks very nice and sporty without screaming sports watch. This can work with a nice formal outfit as well.

PS. I used to work for a watch manufacturing company so it's pretty easy to tell how much was spent manufacturing certain watches so I think this is a pretty good deal!

I was well pleased with this watch. I own a few Seiko watches but, this one is my favorite. I love it's feel, look and it's versatility. This watch is attractive enough to be a dress watch as well as it is pratical enough to wear everyday to work or leisurely. I would recommend this watch to anyone looking to purchase a new watch.

Finely crafted, hard to take your eyes off of. Smoooooth second hand. Movement is nearly silent. Excellent glow-in-the-dark hands and hour markers. Moveable bezel is nicely damped so it stays where you put it. Screw down crowns are a welcome feature. Nice band with excellent double-lock clasp - easy to operate. Deep coliseum face gives a nice 3-D effect. You'll need good eyesight if you intend on using the slide-rule features. The watch face is smaller than I expected, but is by no means too small. It is probably about as close to the perfect size that you could ask for. Watch isn't terribly heavy, but feels and looks sturdily built. Should last me many years with the proper care. The price for this watch is really quite amazing when you consider that it cost this much or more many years ago. Can't see where they have cut corners to keep the price artificially low. Seiko reminds me a lot of Honda or Toyota -- a great deal of pride in their products. AND IT SHOWS! One of those far-too-infrequent occasions where you actually get what you pay for. This watch will most likely out-last and out-perform four or five $100 watches. Rest assured you will receive compliments on this watch. Kinda makes you want to wear short sleeves even in the middle of Winter.

I am writing this after using the watch for over an year. This is a steal for the price I paid(235$).
Pros :
excellent build(shining steel, scratch proof glass)
real good water resistant
excellent stopwatch
Cons :
heavy and fat(thickness is 12mms)
Other than the above Seiko watches are always very well known for their technology, craftmanship and build quality. So highly reccommended

I bought this watch for my bf as a valentines day gift. Just received it today. Through amazon I read many good reviews for this watch and the picture shown on here is amazing looking. When I opened the box I saw that the case for this watch is incredibly cheap looking - and worse, this ones broken!! The presentation is just awful. I know two or three hundred dollars is not too expensive but it definitely deserves more than this. The watch itself can't compare to the picture display on here. Very dissapointed... I'll give it to my bf and let him decide whether we should return it.

I bought one to replace my aging Seiko, and love it. Good ol' Seiko Chronograph in the middle, and the bezel does regular non-flying multiplication and division in addition to the airplane-related calculations, though you wouldn't know it from reading the instructions. Here's how:

Turn the outer ring so that the number you want to multiply is opposite the 10 on the inner ring, and then find the number you're multiplying by on the inner ring and read the product from the outer ring opposite that.

Division is the reverse of multiplication -- line up the dividend on the outside ring with the divisor on the inside, and read the quotient opposite the inner 10.

I purchased this watch in November of 2007 and am extremely pleased! The quality is outstanding, and the value of this watch makes it a great purchase. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the amazing attention to detail Seiko executed in the design. It looks amazing and when I held it for the first time, I was very impressed with the weight. The bracelet is beautiful and there is a stark contrast between the mirror finish in the center of the links and the more subtle silver beside it.

The hardlex dial window magnifies the interior of the bezel, but also gives it a very nice depth. Everything about this watch looks amazing, and you can tell that the engineering is top notch. All of the text along the inside of the bezel is perfectly aligned, and even the slide rule moves around the perimeter with an expensive and slow paced friction.

I would recommend this watch to everyone. It looks like a watch that retails in the same tier as Rolex, Omega and Tag Heuer, but also functions in a way which justifies the price tag, and leaves you feeling satisfied.

I have had several people comment on the watch, saying things like, "that is a serious... watch" or "wow... nice watch!" My existence is not grounded in the material circumventing my wrist, but I do feel I should give you a fair and balanced review. I spent several weeks researching this watch and comparing it against Citizen, etc... but was extremely please in my final decision. I wanted an amazing watch that wouldn't cost me thousands of dollars that operates professionally and won't need a replacement for some time.

The warranty card that came with the watch wasn't filled out, so I am contacting the seller about that. I would also highly recommend buying a watch pin remover so that you can fit it to your wrist correctly, I purchased this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A7G45I which works like a charm, and is very easy to use.

The watch also came with several booklets with instructions that were very handy, detailing how to set the watch and use the slide rule.

Well this one has it all. I just need new glasses to read it. Some numbers are so small you need a magnifying glass to read them.
But, half the reason for buying this was it's looks - which are great!

For the price you can't beat this gem. It's the perfect size for me since I like large dials, and you need it to see the little details of the slide rule. It's a good weight, so it feels like it costs more than it should, and I get compliments all the time about it. It is also shinier and the polished chrome stands out better in person than pictures depict. I gave it four stars since I can't give it 4.5 stars. In my opinion 5 stars is perfect, and I am of the lot who believe that we should always strive for perfection but never attain it.

Great everyday watch.

I've owned this watch for over a year now, and have been extremely satisfied with it's performance. I have worn it daily and can say that the crystal is very tough. I have accidently bounced it off of aircraft structure several times in the past year, and have been sure I've cracked or scratched it, but upon inspection have found no damage. As a matter of fact aside from a few minor scratches on the band, it looks as good as it did when it came out of the box. The photos do this watch no justice. It is much better looking than the pictures show. The bezel is easy to rotate yet has no "play" in it. Do not count on this watch to wake you up in the morning, as the alarm is nearly inaudible. The slide rule functions are accurate but very difficult to use while on the wrist. I recieved this watch "brand new" with all packaging and instructions/warranty cards intact. All 3 crowns are "screw down" so using the stopwatch functions involve a lot of rotating but this is a true chronograph and with a little practice, all the functions are easy to use. I highly recommend this watch if you are in the market for a good looking watch that you can depend on as a "daily driver".

I am 16 years old and I recieved this watch for a Christmas gift. It is a great watch the bracelet feels great, you can really tell this is a good quality watch from how heavy it is. The sweeping chronograph hand is a very nice option. The only rating I could give this is five stars.

I bought this watch and the best i can say of it is that i was still surprised after i received it, simply because it looks and feels even better than i was expecting.
As everyone seems to agree it is a bit heavy on the wrist, but the bracelet is as confortable and steady as it should be.
My rate could only be 5 stars for the product itself, and the shipping time (since i clicked on the page untill my door bell rang it took less than 4 days with an atlantic ocean crossing), and also for the price wich is unbeatable.
Still i would like to point out that i received no guarantee stamp or purchase date with it (what makes me assume that it has no guarantee at all wich is shamefull even iwith the excuse of the price payed) the case where the watch came was far from being the original one (it looks, feels ans smells (!) like a very old and used one), and that the watch didn't had any plastic cover protecting the glass.
in the end 5 stars for the product and the delivery, 1 star for the packing cares.

I must first say that I am extremely happy with the design and quality feel of the watch. Really the only concern I have is that the warranty card was not filled out by the seller. According to SEIKO the card must be filled out with watch s/n and case s/n as well as the merchant identifier. The case s/n was not available, nor was the store information... I would assume by this, there is no warranty.

I bought this watch for myself for Christmas 3 years ago and still love it.

At the time I really wanted a Breitling Navitimer Fighter but they were selling for around $3,000, and I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable walking around with thousands of bucks on my wrist.

I happened on this watch on Amazon and was immediately taken with it. Let me say, that the photo does not do this watch justice. When I received the Seiko I was surprised that it had much more sparkle than this photo imparts. And what really impressed me was that the face has great depth to it. The photo on Amazon shows a flat black surface with a mishmash of white lettering all over it, but in reality it looks much more like a mini metal Roman Colliseum with raised sides and a recessed center plain under thick glass. The face is about 3/8" thick. Very substantial and classy looking. Also, there is more contrast between the shiny center of the wrist band next to the flat silver sides than this photo indicates.

I wore it to work one day, and a female coworker remarked,"your watch is gorgeous!" and that she was looking for one like it for her husband. And when I told her the price she couldn't believe it.

The Breitling Navitimer is a beautiful watch, but since owning this Seiko Chronograph I rarely ever think about owning a Breitling. And since Navitimers now sell for over $6000 I feel even better about the $475 Seiko I got for $200.

It's my second Seiko chronograph. The first I've had for nearly 15 years and is still on top condition. I love the Flight Chronograph's black dial and the stainless steel bezel. The bracelet is also SS. I can wear it with a suit our polo shirt. It's accurate which helps keep my appointments on schedule. I only take it off before I go to sleep or shower. A great improvement over the first Chronograph is its pushbuttons screws that keep moister and water out of the machine.
Good, but not a Navitimer - Review written on August 18, 2007

This is a fantastic slide-rule watch for the price you're paying for it. The build quality is rock solid and the pushbuttons screw down firmly. And it has an alarm and the accuracy of quartz. The manual is a good practical introduction to using the slide rule functions.

However, it is not a Breitling Navitimer. My main gripe about the SNA411 is the design of the bezel and face. It's just too busy! It has many different scales: a compass scale, a bezel log scale, a dial log scale, a conversion scale, a tachymeter scale, and a time scale. It's difficult to make out the numbers on each scale without squinting.

Also, the 10 on the dial log scale and the bezel log scale aren't highlighted in any special color, making it hard to make out when doing multiplication/division.

But don't get me wrong: for the price (a couple hundred dollars - cheaper on eBay), this is a great watch and a fantastic deal. Frustration, sometimes, but no regrets.

I found this watch to be somewhat functional but very classy. I find it hard to use the slide bezel in flight, the numbers are hard to quickly identify; and solving equasions are better done with a paper E6-B than this product. As a ground unit I found it to be very handy but many features are overkill. This unit is very sharp looking but has some work to do in the handyness department with real world flying.

I collect watches but am very picky because I am relatively short and have a small wrist. Most of my watches are custom fit for my wrist. I was reluctant to buy this watch because chronographs are notoriously bulky and adjusting them can be a pain.

However, as soon as I received this watch I knew it was the best purchase I'd ever made for a timepiece. Everything from the casing to the way the watch was packaged was perfect. The craftsmanship is unmatched, the watch has more tools on it than you'll ever need, and best of all the diameter was only slightly bigger than some of my other watches (also only slightly taller because of the slide rule). Overall, this is a great deal especially for the price. Similar chronographs cost as much as $3,000.00 USD.

The alarm function is a bit tedious to set up, but I never use a watch as an alarm because I need something more powerful. Small watch alarms simply aren't practical.

Aesthetically, it is one of the most beautiful timepieces I've ever purchased and it is a great addition to my collection of chronographs. I am so happy with this watch that I have to stare at it every 10 minutes because it is such a cool accessory!

The reason I didnt like it:
1. I wear my watch on my right wrist. The buttons becomes annoying when you are driving.
2. The alarm needs to be fixed every time. Thats just not easy to do. Especially the process you have to go through to fix the alarm time.
3. The look and feel is great but the realistic value of the watch is not there compared to the offering.
Overall a B+

I am learning to fly and to celebrate the fact that I passed all theoretical exams I wanted to buy a 'real' aviation watch.

The 411 seemed to offer good value for money which was the reason to get it. I don't use the computer on it often because I use a separate one. The watch is a bit bulky, but apart from that it's great. It looks nice, is easy to read and at a great price!

I got this watch because I love flight watches and I really wanted to get a Breitling but found out it costs more than I thought so I go this instead to satisfy my urge and my wallet. It looks great and similar to the Navitimer but like ten times less?! There is another similar watch that Seiko makes that also has the world time, so you might want to get that instead but the extra LCD display kind of ruins the classical face for me. The only downside to getting this is that there is really cool technology out there by Seiko and Citizen that eliminates the use of the watch battery, basically you never have to change the battery again. That is really cool as cracking open the watch every year or two cannot be good and not to mention extra costs. Kudos for you, bad for the watch repair guy.

Very nicely done chronograph. The fit/form is tight and the styling is masculine without the feel of wearing a 5lb sundial on your arm. The display could be a little brighter at night but on the other hand, if that had been a priority I would have purchased a Luminox. All in all, it's an excellent timepiece that should last a very long time. Excellent price and hey, it's a Seiko! What more needs to be said?

Earlier this year, I purchased the gold-finished edition (Seiko SNA414)and was so impressed that I ordered the stainless steel, Seiko SNA 411. Both watches are amoung the best looking and working time-pieces available at any price. The readability of the markings on the slide rule are better on the stainless version. White letters on black background are easier to decipher than gold on black. I must admit that all the markings are too fine for my 56-year-old eyes to use on a regular basis, even with my reading glasses on. However, the Seiko satisfies my hunger for the charisma of a Breitling and keeps better time, too.
