Dyson floor tool attachment - Review written on May 19, 2008

The quality of the floor tool attachment is not as good as I would have liked to see based on how much you pay for the vacuum. It took us a while to figure out how to attach it to the vacuum. I bought it to use on hard wood floors and it doesn't work quite as smoothly as I would like. It seems to move a little roughly over the floors.

I have only had this attachment very briefly, but so far I am very pleased with the performance. I was concerned about whether this would fit my DC14 since it was advertised for the 07 model. What I found when it arrived, was that it has adapters that will accommodate the DC07, DC14, DC17, DC18, DC11, DC15, and the DC21. This meets my need for an attachment for all of my bare floors and under furniture. One nice feature is that it has a foot adjustment feature that can be adjusted in a second for floors or carpets. Highly recommended!

I love the attachment. Expands the usefulness of the the Dyson Vacuum. For the premium price paid for the main unit it should have came as a free accessory. Any rate its great product.
a must for hard wood floors - Review written on January 22, 2008

I have to give this product three stars because of two factors. One is the fact that it did not come with my expensive dyson. This product had to be bought seperately and is essential for hard floors. The dyson does have a switch that lets you go from hard to carpet, but it only performs well on carpets. I've had my dyson for years, and in the last year built a house with mostly hard wood floors. I noticed that the vacuum was not picking up on anything but my rugs. I purchased the floor tool attachment, and my house is much cleaner now. The attachment does a great job. However, it attaches to the hose, so there is no good place to hold it. You have to really be careful because the hose, though very durable it seems, now with this attachment, can be punctured easily. So you constantly have to make sure you are not causing pressure on the hose and making a hole. This was a major design flaw and makes me very nervous about ruining my vacuum. Overall, if you plan on keeping your dyson, and you have hard floors and hard to reach areas like tables and sofas, then you really need this floor attachment for maximum cleaning.
Not Great for Hardwood Floors. - Review written on December 29, 2007

I first have to say how much I LOVE my Dyson vacuum. I was looking for a vacuum to sweep my hard wood floors better and could reach under furniture. This is awkward to use and it either pushes the dirt around or sucks to the floor so you have to bend down to lift just a little to get the right power. I would not recommend this, the bare floor setting for the vacuum cleaner works just fine. I am still on the hunt for a light weight sweeper that is great.
A necessary addition to the Dyson - Review written on November 27, 2007

This is a fantastic tool for reaching way under to those places you pretended didn't exist. If you shelled out the money for a Dyson, you might as well bite the bullet and add this attachment. Works great tile, wood floors and carpeting.

Great product. I shopped for a while, and this is the least expensive place to buy the product. The free shipping was a bonus too!

Many people said their main complaint was having to purchase this tool separate. for some reason, I didn't have to. My dyson came with one. I must say, i don't use it often though. I agree with the person that said it was tedious to have to attach to the wand in order to use it. and sometimes the suction is so hard, i can't get it to move around very easy. but i do have a lot of hard floor surfaces and low profile furniture, so it is useful to get under all that stuff, once you get used to having to rotate the handle on the wand that you must attach it to in order to get it under the furniture. I just thought this tool was meant for hard floors under the furniture. it never occured to me to try it on the steps and on the tile floor. i'll have to give it a try and maybe then i'd be willing to give it another star.
Fits Dyson Slim DC18 - Review written on October 25, 2007

I am a relatively new owner of a Dyson Slim DC18. I ordered this from Amazon without being 100% sure it would fit my DC18.

Yes, it does fit the new Dyson Slim DC18. It comes with two adapters and one of them allows you to fit the DC18. It fits both the "wand" and the "hose" just fine.

The yellow part in the picture allows you to adjust for vacuuming carpeting or bare floors -- in the bare floors mode it has a non-moving brush.

The best feature for me is on carpets using it to vacuum under the sofa, love seat, bed, etc. It really has a very low clearance so it easily swivels to fit under.

Only when you use a Dyson yourself will you really appreciate its ability to clean and pick up everything.

While using Dyson's accessories are not difficult, in my opinion, Dyson falls short of providing really good instructions. I believe it would really help new Dyson owners to receive a DVD that provides very user friendly instructions, demos and more!

The two adapters that come with this item will allow one to attach most 1 1/4 inch attachments and accessories, such as, ceiling fan vacuum, etc., after market accessories.

Amazon had the best price for this since the (slower) shipping was free. Please see the many other reviews that give different viewpoint opinions.

This is my first upright (Dyson DC18 Slim). I got several accessories for it. This one allows me to use it like a canister, to vacuum under the love seat and other hard to reach places. I was very happy with how it cleaned under my California king sized bed, i could reach everywhere, and it got lots and lots of dust into the bin. The suction is very good. I don't find that it's as strong peripherally as the suction on vacuum cleaner itself, which is to be expected, and sometimes it's hard for me to maneuver, no different from my canister though, trying to get it flat enough to make suction. but it definitely helps me to extend the abilities of the Slim which came with only two attachments, good ones but each with limited functions. This is a useful tool for me that i'm glad to have, thanks to this tool, i don't miss my canister at all.

After purchasing a large Dyson and realizing that I can't get under anything I was forced to pay an extra $50 for this attachment. I have to agree with the reviewer who said it should be part of the vacuum since Dyson's aren't cheap to begin with. But, that is not Amazon's fault and the price here is $10 cheaper than anywhere else. So I recommend if you have to buy it, get it here. Other than my opinion that it should be a standard attachment, it does the job and I'm glad I got it.

We have a lot of tile floors and under the bed cleaning, this is such a wonderful tool to have and it REALLY sucks up the dirt on the tile floors and it gets EVERYTHING. Under the bed cleaning is so much easier and I am glad I made the purchase. Thank you

The low reach tool is very useful and easy to use, fast to attach and good on every surface. With this tool you can reach under the shallowest of furniture. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because I think this tool should be included when you purchase the DC07 because of the DC07's inability to get under almost all furniture unless you put the tiny tool on it which is tedious.

I love my Dyson vacuum because it works better than any other vacuum I've ever owned and I have spent more money on other vacuums and I have been disappointed until now. But the floor attachment is an overpriced piece of junk and I am being polite. Mr. Dyson should have made it differently because I am afraid of scratching my wood floors with this attachment.

When we purchased our Dyson, I read about this tool in some of the reviews and decided to purchase the Factory-Reconditioned unit and use the money we saved to get this accesory.

This was a great choice, we love the vacuum and this tool does an outstanding job on our wood and tile floors. I think it does a great job on steps also. It has greatly expanded the functionality of the basic Dyson, and is well worth the extra cost.

This tool is awesome for reaching under stuff, something the big Dyson doesn't do well. They should make this standard equipment instead of after market purchase, but still worth every penny...
Use a Roomba instead :-) - Review written on May 04, 2005

I bought this attachment after discovering that the base of my new Dyson vacuum stood too high off the floor to be used under and around furniture. The attachment cleans as promised, but I have decided that using it is more trouble than it's worth.

The attachment connects to the wand (not to the base), which requires a several step process to use it, back and forth, as you clean the floors. It is bulky (12" x 10.5" x 7") and there's no built-in place to store it on the vacuum, so it's taking up a lot of shelf space in my cleaning closet (and I have to carry it around with me from room to room, as I clean.)

Dyson makes a great vacuum, with especially brilliant design features - it's disappointing that the standard vacuum doesn't allow for under-furniture cleaning, which should be a basic. And this attachment doesn't really make up for it.

After using the floor-tool attachment a few times, I decided to rely upon my Roomba, instead, for the areas that the Dyson (without attachment) can't cover - the Roomba does a much better job of going around chair legs, etc., and I don't have to be there!

If I had it to do over, I wouldn't have purchased this item - put your $$ toward a robot cleaner. :-)

I bought this attachment to clean our carpeted stairs. It works well for that application but I was surprised to find out it is best suited for vacuuming our tile floors. Whereas our old vacuum would just spit out the dirt as it passed over it, this attachment works great at getting all of the dust and hair that gathers along the edges of our tiled floors. I use the Dyson without tools on our carpet and then I put this attachment on to do under the sofa and tables and all of our tiled surfaces. Works great!
