I got the tablet fairly quickly and it was all that it was advertized to be. What Amazon didn't do is send someone to show me how to use it....:)) I am completely satisified with the transaction from start to finish.

This is my first time working with graphic design media but reviews i read on this product were dead on. The customizeible buttons are awesome. I read some where that buying and templet that is larger 8 x 6 is unnecessary and that you would never use the all the space. I have to agree. Great product great vendor.

What can I say, bought it for school, had to have the best. Intuos tablets have twice the precision of the Bamboo tablets. Comes with extra stylus tips, inkwell stylus-rest, and a trick little mouse that makes not a lot of sense. The plastic overlay that protects the drawing surface is rather easily marred, so it needs to be handled carefully. The button functions are mirrored for the lefties, and that slider bar nicely impersonates a mouse wheel.
Overall, it is the standard by which others are defined.
Amazing Drawing Tablet - Review written on October 09, 2008

I thought that the tablet might be useless, b/c I thought it might be hard to draw w/o ink coming onto the tablet, so that I could see what I was doing, but magically, looking at the screen while you draw is JUST as easy! Finally, there's a way for people to use technology to their advantage w/o having to worry about their drawings coming out weird when done with a mouse. And if you make mistakes, there's no eraser marks, you can add special effects, and there are layers. If you draw something amazing, but find that it's not in the right place or it's not the right size, on the computer, that can easily be fixed w/o having to erase anything. Get this tablet, b/c it works way better than you think.

I love my Wacom tablet. I Google'd product reviews, read about other peoples trials and tribulations with a new tablet, and was ready to jump right into being a better retoucher when my tablet arrived. Learn what you can before you make a decision to buy one, and you'll love it too.

Intuos 3 by far better performance than,( "bamboo fun" honestly worst I ever used).

Intous 3 is smooth, highly sensitive and a joy to work with. Intous pen is incredibly accurate and so closely imitating a brush.

Great product for the $price.

I remember a review i read on one of these great creation's was "Man learnt how to paint and draw with brush and pen, not soap bar's" And how true it is. If your into Photoshop or products like such and wondering why it either takes you an hour to outline a specific area or create and image. It's about time you aquire one of these, im tellin you i can't put the thing down.

this wacom was very usefull for photoshop. I really didn't get it for anything else but it works very nice and was easy to controll. But I'm not a fan of the mouse (don't use it)but the pen was a good size for my hand and made the transition form a regular pencil to the wacom alot easier.

I bought this Wacom 6x8 to replace an aging UD series Tablet I've had since 1995 (I think It's been so long I don't even remember)! The UD Tablet was faithful and never broke once on me. It was big and kind of clunky, interfaced using a Serial cable and had a seperate power cable with a transformer style plug. Let me tell you how much easier this new Wacom Tablet is to use and set up!

LOTS!, that's right LOTS easier! The old Tablet was 12X12 so while it had more surface area it was almost too big for my needs. This 6X8 is perfect in size, plugs in with one simple USB connection and software installed very easily. Setting up the Tablet was a snap too, the software makes it very easy to get the pressure sensitivity right where I need it. Speaking of sensitivity, it is by far more responsive than my old UD Tablet as well.

The flexible functionality of the buttons left and right of the drawing area were easy to program to do I wanted. I had to disable the left scroll area since I am left handed and I kept running my hand over it. It was no problem though since I have a scroll bar on the right side too. Nice of them to take care of us Left handers.

The stylus pen feels very nice and light and is multi functional without being annoying, as in, the buttons are not placed such where I hit them by accident. I tend to twirl whatever I'm drawing with, a habit I picked up drawing with a pencil, twirling it to move to the sharp edge but this does not present a problem with this pen where as it was a bit of a aggravation on my old UD Stylus.

I just completed a job of retouching over 350 images for a catalog and I used the tablet to do airbrushing. Adding in shadows and doing blemish removal in photoshop and it's really thanks to this tablet it made it so easy.

Highly recommended! Keeping my fingers crossed this one lasts as long as my old UD Tablet did. (BTW my UD still works too but it seems they stopped software supporting it with XP Service Pack 3).

The product seems great although I have not used all of the features. It takes a while to get used to it. It is beautifully designed and I think it will be very helpful to me in designing. Be aware of the vendor's shipping policies, i.e., whether you can pick up your item from the UPS terminal if UPS attempts delivery when you are unavailable. You may find that you have to call the vendor, first, to make special arrangements with UPS, which happened in my case. Check first to avoid surprise/inconvenience.

This is quite a step up from from my old 4x5 Graphire1. I don't use most of the buttons, but having an undo button and a brush size slider handy helps quite a bit.

The included software (PS Elements and Painter Essentials) was lacking, but the brushes included with PS as well as the Wacom brushes work in GIMP. Two of the included brush sets wouldn't load in GIMP, but they're mostly identical to the default brushes anyway.

If you plan to use this (or any tablet) in Linux, be sure to read the tablet install guide on your distro's forums.

Have several Intuos3 tablets, and the device itself is really good. Some issues with MacOS X drivers were resolved two months ago.

However, this is not a review of a product. Be warned that some sellers are selling refurbished units as new, and not marking the difference, either in price or shipping. My latest purchase involved a refurbished unit, and seller refused to ship a non-refurbished one.

I love Intuos3. But beware of misleading sellers.

Comparing 2 wacom Intuos3 6X8 tablets
My daughter and I were searching for the best tablet for graphic art. The wacom Intuo3 6X8 has the highest recommendation. There are two versions. It was hard to find the difference in the two. They both have limited lifetime warranty. We chose the this product; the PTZ630 because we did notice a huge difference in the software bundled they come with.

This tablet has so far worked flawlessly for me, and I've had it for over a month. While other tablets I have used have often lagged or frozen, this one has been working smoothly since I opened the box.

For a serious art student studying illustration and animation, this has been a perfect solution for my needs, seeing as I don't have the money to spend on a Wacom Cintiq.

Graphics tablets, if they work at all, will save your wrists and make many programs much more functional; I do not think that this Wacom should receive 100+ 5-star reviews simply for being a tablet. To be sure, it is a good tablet and I have been pleased, with a couple of caveats.

The build quality is only mediocre. The wireless mouse started acting up after about 4 mos. and would not register clicks. It is not very durable. More annoying, the entire balance of the tablet is determined by the placement of four little rubber strips that are glued to the underside -- that glue, something akin to mucilage -- will eventually weaken and then the little rubber pads will tend to slide out of their slots. When this happens, the tablet is unbalanced and it starts "giving" and squeaking. They have to be constantly realigned and not only is this annoying but eventually loosens the overall structural integrity of the tablet. This might seem like a relatively minor gripe, but a tablet as expensive as this should not suffer from anything of the sort.

Should still buy this tablet? Probably. But Wacom shouldn't cheap out on such a critical component.

Most have already covered what a quality tablet this is. I am loving mine also. I've also replaced my daily mouse and mousepad to save space. The only gripe I have about the mouse is that with a normal mouse, I can have my arm/mouse at an angle, move "back" and the mouse will move down on the screen, however on this tablet, it would move sideways and down. Since there's no "eye" in the mouse, it only moves according to the location on the tablet. It takes some getting used to based on how I personally used a mouse, but it's no big deal.

Another thing to note is that the 6x8 pad autocalibrates to your monitor size for the pen so if you put the pen in the corner it will be at the corner of your screen, if you lift up and put it in the middle, it will be in the middle of the screen. The mouse however functions like a normal mouse...so you can lift and move it and the cursor will stay in the same place until you actually slide it over. This is my first tablet so that was an interesting peculiarity to me.

Also, I got a refurbished 6x8 intuos3 from adorama for half the price (well 169 free shipping no tax). It's refurbished by the factory and is packaged and looks exactly like it would brand new. You can't tell the diff except for the refurbished sticker on the box. At that price it's an absolute steal.

Wacom tablets rock and this is the best of their current lineup. The Graphire3 was a nice starter pen/tablet, but once you experience the Intuous3, you will see the difference for yourself. I have found it to be a very natural and comfortable device to use and its pen action to be smooth and precise. The pen itself is thicker than the Graphire3 with a nice grip and the tablet is sleek. Overall the quality of the product is unquestionably high; weight, balance, material surfaces are all top notch and the construction is completely solid. With the latest drivers installed, you have absolute control of the functions and behaviors of the device and you will enjoy a great experience with this product.

The only problem I have with this product, as with all Wacom products, is that it is expensive. It seems like a bit of a gouge at over $300, but I after having used it, I have to admit I would spend it all over again if I had to.

Last thing, the 6x8 size will be ideal for most people. They make much larger models but as you can read here and elsewhere, the problem with the larger sized tablets is that you find yourself working from your full arm rather than from your wrist. Traditional artists who have a lot of experience working on large media surfaces may not have a problem with that (so I recommend you take out a second mortgage and get the largest one), but for most people the 6x8 is the sweet spot that gives you great control using primarily wrist motion and only minimal (if any) strain if you work long hours drawing with it.

Beautiful product.

Best Tool EVER! My wrist was beginning to hurt from using the mouse to draw on Illustrator, so I decided to invest in a pen tool. I did some research and found that Wacom had the most reliable feedback. I absolutely LOVE this tool. I use it whenever i am drawing on the computer and it feels like I'm drawing on with paper and pen. My hand no longer hurts from long hours of drawing! If you draw on the computer alot, you absolutely MUST get one of these!

I am primarily a painter, hoping to get into the digital aspect of illustration. I guess I may not be well-qualified to write a review of this item, as it is my first digital tablet. But I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. It was a bit spendy, even discounted, but now that I have one, I would definitely say it was well worth the price. I don't know how I ever got along without one.

I was worried that 6x8 would be a bit small, but it seems more than adequate for my needs so far. The Intuos 3 tablet is pressure-sensitive, measures the angle of your stylus to the surface, and includes the function buttons, scroll strip, and a mouse. My only disappointment is that there isn't an 'undo' button on the tablet for use with Corel Painter. Otherwise, aside from using 'Ctrl+Z', I would never have to use the keyboard.

I'm still psyched about this product. This is a great tablet for design students and illustrators!

I ordered this as my first pen/tablet combo. I have so far used it exclusively for Photoshop, but it is a dream. I have sometimes wrist pain with using the mouse too long, but not with the pen. It does take some getting used to, but once you do the interface is flawless. No complaints yet!

I absolutely LOVE my Wacom tablet!!! It's gotten me creating again like mad and was so fast to get accustomed to. The size is perfect. I love the sensitivity of the pen and the ease of use. I think the only thing I'd change is the button on the pen is placed right where I hold it to draw and often I accidentally hit it while I'm working. But then, I don't ever use that button so for those that do, I'm sure it's placed perfectly. Maybe there's a way to deactivate it, I'll have to look. But I highly recommend this product to all artists and designers! I waited way too long to get one and the reviews here and elsewhere helped me make my decision to choose this particular model, which was an ideal choice for my needs.

This tablet is by far the coolest thing I have ever bought for drawing on the computer. As a web and graphic designer, it gives me the freedom to draw lines as if I were drawing on paper except when you're done, your drawing is fully editable within the drawing program you are using. It's so much better than drawing on paper and scanning it in.

I use it mainly in Adobe Illustrator. I especially love how you can customize the buttons to what you are used to so you get a truly intuitive tool for drawing.

I highly recommend it!

Programmable! - Review written on April 22, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

The buttons on the tablet and pen are programmable and the software for configuring the quick keys is excellent and fully featured. You can set it up to have different profiles (quick keys are different) for whatever active window you currently have open. I don't really feel more control than using a typical mouse, but there's a huge advantage in the pressure sensitivity and being able to flip the pen over for a different tool. Wacom + Autohotkey is pure win!

I bought the Wacom mostly for Photoshop work. The natural feel of the pen makes working on MobiStories images much easier. What I didn't expect to be so wonderful was being able to use the mouse for "normal" use on the computer. When working on the details of large images the various settings make the work easy and of high quality. Anyone who does graphics work and doesn't use a tablet is missing out on the benefits of a better mousetrap. My productivity has increased as has the fun factor.

This was an excellent investment to have made. Up until now I was using only the mouse when working in Photoshop. That was tedious at best, but mostly it made selecting fine detail extremely difficult and sometimes impossible to achieve. With the pen, I'm getting very nice results, and my hand/eye coordination improves with practice.
