What!?? Are you kidding me?! The Main Title Song Is MISSING!! - Review written on September 19, 2006

Am I the only person who gets annoyed with so-called soundtracks which leave out songs which were used during the movie? The Napolean Dynamite soundtrack includes songs that were NOT even used in the film (one example I Want Candy), but then it fails to include THE MAIN THEME by The White Stripes. I think if a CD is going to be called a soundtrack it should at least include all the music that was used in the film. And, how can a soundtrack not include the MAIN TITLE THEME SONG?! Granted, there is a lot of good music on this CD, but I still refuse to purchase this CD based on the principle that a soundtrack should, at the least, include music actually used and played in the film.
Fiction Company??? - Review written on July 20, 2006

Napoleon Dynamite is a great movie. I actually relate a bit and some of the characters remind me of my friends from high school. Anyways, about one of the songs on the soundtrack. Fiction Company does a song called "Design" on the soundtrack. I love this song and I've never heard of Fiction Company before. I tried looking for more of their songs or even a discography or any information and I can't find anything. Does anyone know if they have any more music out there?

Does anyone know the very first song played in the movies while the plates of food are being placed down in the opening credits? Something about "I think that we are gonna be friends..." It's such a cute song and I'd really like to find it. I wish this CD had the song Pedro's cousins played in their car, as well, but overall a pretty good cd!

Very funny movie. I've watched it several times. I began searching for the soundtrack because I wanted the More Bounce to the Ounce track that Pedro's cousins rocked in the car. Although it is not on the CD, I listened to all the samples, including the dialogue pieces and decided it was worth it.

FYI - Folks seem to keep asking for the track that played while Napoleon was on the bus...it's called Bus Rider by John Siwart. Hope this helps.
One word... - Review written on May 17, 2006

... well, two words really. The Promise!!! This song, by the group When in Rome is the best song ever written. Well, maybe an exaggeration there. Seriously though, ever since I first watched this movie about a year ago, I can not stop listening to this song, which plays during the ending credits of the movie. I like to consider myself very knowledgable about all things 80's music, but I had never heard this song before. Really, it's a great song. I recommend the cd just for this song alone!

Just like the movie, this Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack is flippin' sweet. If you're into the 80s-vibe music (like me!) and love Napoleon, Pedro, Deb, and the gang you'll love the Naploeon Dynamite soundtrack from the motion picture, "Napoleon Dynamite". It has all the great hit songs from the movie, like "We are Going to be Friends" and "Forever Young". Reccomended for Napoloeon fans!! :)

This soundtrack is very original, very soothing and seriously funky!

The song that The Bear was asking about should probably be 'Music For A Found Harmonium' performed by Penguin Cafe Orchestra. This was playing when Napolean got a standing ovation after his performance and Pedro had this sweet dazed smile while viewing the audience! Other scenes appear, including Kip and Lafawndah at the bus station.

Hope this helps!

Good Soundtrack But Missing A Couple Great Songs & A Lot of Great Dialog.. - Review written on February 20, 2006

There are songs on this soundtrack that i believe were not used during the movie. I Want Candy, Every Moment, New Mate, Design, Sometimes You Gotta Make It Alone & Only You. If they were used in the movie can someone please list when & where? Also, in the credits, 2 tracks are listed that i cannot find and do not know when they were used in the movie: "Old School Antics" Performed by Steve Adams, & You Belong To My Heart" by Agustin Lara and Ray Gilbert. Overall, this is a nice representation of the movie though.
Missing Important Bits....... - Review written on December 13, 2005

I am an Idahoan, so you could probabaly tell that I am a huge fan of the movie. This is a great soundtrack, but I don't know whether or not I should buy it because it doesn't seem to have two of my favorite songs, the opening credit theme and Kip's wedding song. My sister and are hysterical over Kip's song, so I'm not sure if I should buy this if it doesn't have that. Other than that, if you are a true Napoleon fan, you will probably want to pick this one up mainly for "Canned Heat" and the voice bits.
Great soundtrack but missing a song - Review written on November 17, 2005

I love this soundtrack because it's like you get to watch all your favorite parts of the movie, without having to actually drag it out and watch the whole thing. The dialogue tracks are great and highlight some of the best lines in the movie. But it's missing a very important song, and I'm not sure why they left it out. The music that's playing in the car when Pedro's cousins give Napoleon a ride to the dance is "More Bounce To The Ounce" by Zapp & Roger. I guess with 42 tracks they probably couldn't squeeze in just one more, but that was my only complaint with the whole album. Overall, it's a must-have for any true Napoleon Dynamite fan!

This soundtrack like the movie is only for certian tastes. Either you get it or you don't, there is not a lot of middle ground.

Many of my friends who I play the soundtrack for, or sit down and watch the movie with don't understand the humor at all. They can't relate to either the characters or the bosa nova, Wesley Willis, Demo on a Casio Keyboard type music.

All of these things remind me of a childhood once lost. For others, the lack of any real tallent isn't nostalgic but rather painful. Much like going to a kindergarden play, or music recital... unless you have a child in the performance its not going to be enjoyable.

This CD is a "must have" item for any NAPOLEON DYNAMITE fan. It is the only place to get the fun, cheezy organ music that is played throughout the film. There are also plenty of little sound bites of dialogue from the film. Unfortunately, there are some major songs that did NOT make it onto this CD, so you will have to get those tunes separately.

I tried to gather them up, based on the end credits from the DVD listing. The missing songs are:

* "We're Going to be Friends" by the White Stripes, on their album "White Blood Cells." This song is played during the opening credits, written in food.

* "The Rose" by Bette Midler, I got from her Greatest Hits CD. It is also on the soundtrack for the old movie "The Rose," but that version has some audience applause in the background, at the very beginning of the song. In Napoleon, it is the song that the Happy Hands Club performs in class with Napoleon.

* "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper. I got it from "The Essential Cyndi Lauper." This is played while Napoleon and Deb dance together at the school dance. The Napoleon Soundtrack has this song on the CD, but it is performed by a different artist. The movie credits say it is the Cyndi Lauper version used in the film.

* "Larger Than Life" by the Backstreet Boys, I got from their "The Hits--Chapter One." This is played during Summer Wheatly's skit, onstage with the Happy Hands Club.

* "Music of a Found Harmonium" by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. This is played at the end of the film, as they show how everybody ends up, before Napoleon plays tetherball with Deb. CAUTION: This song appears on many different Penguin Cafe Orchestra CDs, in different versions. The closest version I found is on the CD "Preludes Airs and Yodels (A Penguin Cafe primer)," which contains two different versions. It is the Patrick Street version, track 11, that sounds the most like the Napoleon movie version used, in my opinion. I COULD BE WRONG, but this is my best pick of which version the movie used.

(...)

There may still be some other music to find, but I don't know the names; like the music from Pedro's cousins' car when they pick up Trish, and the heavy metal music during the Rex Kwon Do commercial...?

Even though the CD is incomplete, I still highly recommend this Napoleon Dynamite soundtack CD for anybody who liked the movie!
Fiddle music at end of movie - Review written on August 03, 2005

First, the movie is great! Second, the soundtrack music is great!

And the "fiddle" music at the end of film is by Penguin Cafe Orchestra titled "music for a found harmonium" from the CD "a brief history" available (of course) from Amazon. Search for the CD and you can listen to a sample. Although it's a harmonium not a fiddle, so they might have used a different version in the movie. iTunes carries the James Galway version.

So, Penguin Cafe Orchestra is great! Enjoy them all....

Nothing much to say - All the songs from the movie are included here + some excerts of those phrases and saying we all love. I was very glad they didn't leave anything out. It always irratates me to buy a soundtrack only to find out that the one song I loved the most in a movie isn't on the soundtrack. No worries here though - all the songs in the movie are on the CD.
