if you're expecting a game like prince of persia: sands of time that's a puzzle-solving sort of game, look elsewhere! this game starts you right in the middle of combat. that wouldn't be a problem.. if the combat was fun. unfortunately, it's not. the controls don't feel good and it's not intuitive. 2 minutes into the game, you're fighting a boss. absolutely ridiculous. it seems they tried to put graphics over gameplay for this game. if you want a fighting game, just play something like devil may cry or ninja gaiden, not this.
I can't jump up the wall! - Review written on January 29, 2007

Yes, in a nutshell, that is my problem with the game. I heard good things about it from reviewers, and did they ever dupe me. I can make it inside the castle to the point where the guy made up of dark flying crows is, then totally beat him up and take absolutely no damage. Then I can't jump up the wall, because you have to double jump more than once, and the camera whirls around on me and I just can't get the timing right.

So I got about twenty minutes into the game, and couldn't proceed. I heard from the online FAQs I read that the game has a bunch of glitches too, but I never made it far enough to hit those.

I can't double jump, the map is useless, I'm not impressed with the potty mouth Prince, and I don't like the camera or heavy metal music. The fighting part is easy. This is the only Prince of Persia game I have ever played, and I can only wonder if they somehow teach the timing better in earlier games in the series. This one was a big waste of time for me.

Great follow up to the orignal. The levels where you are being chases are thrilling (sometimes frusterating too but hey) and the combat is great.

The overall game was very good. I liked the story-line, but the game itself could have been longer. On the downside, the game was too dark and the health upgrades were difficult to find without the help of a stategy guide. I did like the new acrobatics and fighting skills and I hope that the 3rd game is just as much fun and hopefully I will be able to see where I am going within the game. I would definitely recommend this game to someone else.

This game is what Tomb Raider is supposed to look like. The game mechanics...the controls... Felt the first was the best overall game. The second is twice as good, but everyone has gotten wise, and now the competition is growing. The developers have realised what adventure gamers really want!
Like Sands of Time, but darker - Review written on July 03, 2006

Warrior Within is very similar in style to the Sands of Time but is darker, more violent, has some minor sexual overtones and a more interesting story line. The most exciting part of the game to me is when the Dahaka starts chasing you. Often times you don't know exactly when he's gonna find you, so it makes the game suspensful and a tad bit scary. I seriously start freaking out when I hear the music start. For the most part the puzzles are easy, and you can pick up the game after not playing it for months and still basically know what you're doing. My biggest complaints are that sometimes when you're in the middle of jumping or running they change the view on you and it sometimes screws me up, and sometimes the perspective is a little off so it makes it hard to see where you are suppose to go. Also, I really don't like blood and guts and sometimes when you do a special sword move on an enemy they put it in slow motion - like do I really need to see this guys head come off in slow motion?! Yuck! I usually would never buy a game with the Mature rating, and I can see why it got this rating, but a lot of times you are killing non-humans, like monsters and weird animals, so it doesn't bother me too much.

I gave it 5 stars, but I still would not recommend this game for children or let my children play it because it is dark, violent, can be gory and the few sexual overtones.
An epic story in a legendary saga - Review written on May 22, 2006

Apparently no one has played the same Warrior Within game that I've played. Anyone who says this game is a bad one does not deserve to play video games or much less write reviews about them. The Prince of Persia series is an incredible trilogy with three extremely different games. Warrior Within is the second in the trilogy and the best of them all. This game is not for the faint of heart, it is very dark and morbid storyline and the gameplay is exactly the same. The Prince in this story is far different from the one in The Sands of Time. The Prince has been stalked and hunted for years by an immortal and terrible beast known as the Dahaka, and he has become a drained and callous man who has almost been broken by his own demons and by the curse that has plagued his every breath. This game is one of the best games I've ever played and I have played the best of the best. Don't listen to all these misguided reviews by these would be gamers, Warrior Within is amazing. The gameplay is incredible from the fighting to the wall running and problem solving. Another beautiful part of the game is the graphics. The landscapes in this game are truly gorgeous. As you progress through the game and climb higher into the castle you can look down below and actually see other parts of the castle that you have already visited earlier in the game, it's truly amazing. The chase sequences with the Dahaka are extremely intense and keep you white knuckled with the controller the entire time. The music, like the first game, is perfect. Godsmack's song, I Stand Alone, cranking through the speakers while you run for your life adds a very nice touch. But above all the story is what pushes this game beyond most all others. The fmv sequence with the Prince and the Old Man is probably the best and is my personal favorite, but all the fmv are quite impressive, involving, and extremely fun to watch. The whole idea behind the Prince being hunted by an unstoppable force and running from his destiny but also trying to change his doomed fate at the same time is pretty hardcore. I can't even explain how cool and just bada** this game is. The whole series is one of the best stories I've ever played, seen, or read, but Warrior Within is by far the most engageing, macabre, and epic of all the three. If you're looking for an unbelievably fun and adventurous game that is full of amazing gameplay, graphics, and whose story is probably one of the top ten of all time then this is a must buy for you. If Warrior Within sounds to dark and brutal for you then you should probably stick to the kiddie games made for children like final fantasy.

This is game is great I just restarted it about a month ago because my girlfriend's sister got me 2 throwns. I wasn't to excited to get back into it because it seemed to lose something for me since Sands of Time. But oddly enough this time around I really had a good time...that is until I got to the end...That's right you've heard of the dreaded game stopping glitches? Well one just hit me not 5 minutes ago. I am at the final battle and I have to restart from the beginning...21 hours down the drain, thanks a lot ubisoft!

fantastic..I hope ur not a teacher or anything - maybe just a job that dont have to deal with countries locations...

Persia is the Formor IRAN ...and the capital is perspolis or SHIRAZ ( the wine )..then changed to Tehran...Iran was called persia just before WW2 when they decided they wanna change the name so it looks exactly like the Name of the country next door...well not really..but they changed it for an evil reason which I am not gonna say...

PLZ PLZ PLZ..if u dont know about something..dont give false information..either talk about the GAME...purely or search the net before u make a Histroy comment...

Prince of Persia the Sands of Time is probebly the best game of 03 and is still one of the best to this day. Warrior Within is probibly one of the stupidest games of 04 and 05. there are no challaging puzzles in this game, and if there are, they dont exciet you very much. The enemie AI is so stupid its not funny. THERE ARE SO MANY FREAKEN GLICHES THAT IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY. 5 or 6 times i was in an sand monster trying to kill him, there are invisible walls everywhere, and the game you can beat in about 7-8 hours, not cool. Now you're thinking, now why believe this guy? Well I beat all 3 games about 25 TIMES, 25 TIMES, i would know. Instead buy the first game, rent the second game (unless die-hard fan), and buy the 3rd game. The Two Thrones you should pick up. Now go on and play the better game you peoples?!?!?!
A smidgeon above mediocre - Review written on December 17, 2005

This game is just a tad above mediocre at best, and I'm personally shocked that some other reviewers award it higher merits. Are we talking about the same game here? The game play is redundant, the environments repeat over and over and over again, the combat consists of nothing more than slightly glorified button-mashing, and the story line really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Yeah, I'll admit that the graphics are okay, running along walls is a bit fun, and slicing demons in half is vaguely rewarding the first few times. But otherwise? All you have is a game that's just above the average. It could have been much much better.

first of all, this game is definitely one of my all time favorites. I got hooked into the genre by playing SOT, which was a good game, but in my opinion could have had just a little bit more edge, which is what they did with this game. It could be that i'm just a sucker for the new free-form fighting system, in which you can pull off a slew of ridiculously awesome looking combos,or the fact that it's just dark in general. I don't want to steer anyone wrong though, SOT was great, i thought how they played the prince off as an innocent bystander of the vizier's twisted little plan was good, even possibly legendary, but honestly this is a different time period in the prince's life...it's not even realistic to claim that he wouldn't be battle-scarred after all those years. So personally i think the change is good and thats all i have to say about that.

So anyways, moving on...if you haven't played it yet and have also played the first one, what are the changes?? Well quite obviously as previously stated it has much more edge, it has some sexual themes, which honestly i don't even think are really life-changing, a teen could most definitely handle it, and the prince is much darker and battle-scarred in this one, which i think is great. Also, the added some more obstacles like the wall run rope and the curtain sliding thing. There are also some chase scenes and some godsmack to go along with em. The videos are cooler, the obstacles are harder, and i think it takes a little more thought, you really gotta look around sometimes. But without a doubt the biggest change is the free-form fighting system.

So...why complicate a game with numerous combos, when you can just have a couple......i'll answer this just by saying because it gives the game flair, edge, and by god it just looks really cool. You know what, if you dont like em, dont use em. thats what i say. you can stick to the same moves that you used in the previous game if you really wanna, but why? if you hit random buttons you can make something look cool so why not? give it a shot...reach into that inner gamer thats a sucker for sweet looking moves and just try it for gosh sakes!!! personally, i like knowing what combination of buttons is gunna make the move look like, so i just memorize, but you dont have to and thats why its great.

OK, so what is with the chase scenes...why complain? i didnt have a problem getting through any of them, personally i like them because they make you think quick, which may make it harder, but come on!! you should know when you signed up for this that you are going to be thinking just a little...this is POP, not like dynasty warriors, in which you just kill everyone. its gunna take some thought so why not make you think fast, it keeps you on your toes. Plus, i don't know about you but the "i stand alone" chase theme definitely should pump you up, a little metal never hurt anyone.

ok...the one flaw...expanding your life...this wasn't easy. I'm going to be completely honest. I cheated and looked at a walkthrough. When someone tells me the ending is going to be cooler if you get all of these i gotta do it even if that means cheating a little. Even when you get to the rooms that expand your lifes the traps are pretty friggin hard i'm not going to lie..it just takes some time, but, what doesn't these days.

alrite so finally all i have to say is ignore the rumors that they made the POP genre look bad, its not true, if you like cute little prince's running through palace's with a princess stick to SOT i guess, i don't know why people get so overeasy about the M rating but its REALLY NOT THAT BAD. Its better :)
so go and by it at your nearest video game store today, at least before you get the third one ;)

Firstly, this game is designed to appeal to the mainstream market. You still have the first games acrobatics, but also some great action. You may be disapointed at how the game has lost Sands of Time' charm.

****************************************

I have Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and I Like it, but the major faults with it are the camera, fighting and the prince looked like a ponce, becouse of his hair and clothes (the pants made him look like a goat). But POP:SOT was still a good game overall.

I heard about POP:WW coming out and I was really excited becouse I heard it was a much darker sequel.

It is. You start off the game with the prince running away from a vicious beast, showing off brilliant cutscene graphics. You are then on a ship, fighting against unknown demons, with a thong-wearing (human)woman leader.

Ok, now its time for the review to start

GAMEPLAY:
10/10- The acrobatic moves are mind boggelingly cool! They really will amaze you! The fighting is HUGELY IMPROVED! The Combos you can pull off are amazing and get better and better as the game goes on. There are a variety of different weapons on offer, such as axes, daggers and mases. YOU CAN EVEN HOLD TWO WEAPONS!!! If you see an enemy far away, you can throw a weapon at him and you can see his head chopping off!

GRAPHICS:
9/10- The strong point of Sands Of Time, they are even MUCH BETTER in this game! When you use the time powers, the screen blurring is amazing.

LIFESPAN:
8.5/10- It will keep you hooked for over a month becouse of the extra unlockables hidden in-game!

OVERALL:
This game will not disapoint, as long as you stick with it, as some puzzles might be very hard and frustrating at the start, but it becomes second nature later.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ACTION/PLATFORMER GAMES EVER!!!

Firstly, I am not 13. My computer isnt working for me. I am 14. I was not too much into the sands of time game. Sure the art was great but there wasnt enough fighting like in the classical one for computer. In the computer version it had way for fighting but no blood. The sands doesnt even have blood from wut I remember. Someone please tell me why you kill someone and no blood? In this version there is a lot of violence. And to the kid who said there was too much violence and none needed mature rating. Your not the game programmer, the blood was needed, and the game sold a lot of copies so do you really think that Ubisoft cares about if it has too much violence in it? I thought that 6 against one wa really fun. In stead of the usual 1 on one they have like 20 people against one. That is what the game is all about. Violence, sands of time, and blood. If you didnt like it you should have kept to the sands of time game. For those of us who like violence this is a violence packed game. I mean comon. Who wouldnt want to slide down a curtain, down another, then climb a ladder dow past saws, and then jump off to jump into a fight of about 20-1? Good game, good music, and good gameplay, but very short. I beat it on hard with all the upgrades inclouding health in a little under 30 mins. 20 hours....Your that bad of a gamer that it took you 20 hours to finish. My cuzzin beat it in 20 mins with his eyes closed and memory of where to go.(Except the hard fight parts.)

The pros:
1. Awsome fighting system
2. Nice new sand powers.
3. Tricky story line.
4. Good sound
5. Cool looking enemies

The cons:
1. 4 glitches in the whole game.
2. Bad lip movement when they talk.
3. Not enough health
4. Too dark in some spots
5. a lot of back-tracking.

The latest Prince of Persia (POP) is way more polsihed and fun. Combat and graphic have been improved greatly. For those of you unfamiliar with POP, it is basically and insanely fun platfrom/action game. You control "The Prince" who can run across and up walls, flip over enemys and other various acrobatic manouevers. Also you have the power to control time and reverse time if you miss an important jump. Or speed up time so you are much quicker than you enemies. These things add to the fun factor of the game by allowing Flexibilty in how you accomblish a challenge. The first POP was great at platforming that reqiured percsion platforming skills, however the combat was boring and repitive, In this one the platform is back a still great, and the combat is much improved with combos you can pull off. All around this game is one of the perfect platformers, it is unique and fun, and almost any gamer can pick it up and start cutting the heads off enemies, and running and flipping across walls.

PROS:
-Improved Graphics
-Imrpoved Combat System
-Great Acrobatic moves give flexibilty in combat and platforming
-High Replay Value with alternate ending
- Abilty to control times add a new elment to platforming/action games
-Unique, Addicting, Challenging

CONS
-Lowered difficulty from first POP
-Annoying to replay same parts of the same place more than once (when you
travel back in time)
-Not the most stunning graphics (although better than the first
- Lack of many enemy types

this game really is awsome, if you have played sands of time you will be exited about playing the game before even touching the controller.....for those who havnt played sands then i recomend it, the story will make a lot more sense and much more enjoyable. there were parts of the game i thought could have been improved on....this came mainly in the form of some of the landscapes, the dungeons and the library inparticular.......they could be a little dull and annoying, especially if you die and have to repeat them!!! its a great game to play once its been back in its box for a few months....playing it a second time round you have a better understanding of the fighting control system.....combo's can be tricky but look great when pulled off nicely, also they are not really a necessity of the game so if you get frustrated easily by not being able to pull them off....then you can just beat the bad guys with a few simple attacks (repetative but effective). the bad guys are cool and the dahaka (a huge demon whos only mission is to hunt you throughout the game and kill you!!!) injects a shot of adrenaline whenever he apears and starts chaseing you. the soundtrack is good......when it comes to the look of the game, i dont think it can be compared to sands of time, its completely different (darker and meener), as much as i loved the look of sands, i think that if this looked the same then the beauty of the game would wear off....each game is best left looking individual from the next (or last)....and i have already reserved a copy of the third pop installment......cant wait!!!

This is the 2nd Prince of Persia game I've played and, I must say, the better of the two! I first played The Sands of Time which was an excellent game. But this game simply blows it's predacessor away!
Being 38 years old and still enjoying video games poses one problem for me: Time. I don't have alot of time to sit down and play as much as I want so, call it cheating, but I use walkthroughs for detailed games like this. It in no way takes away from the intensity of this game. There's alot to do, alot to look for, and alot to see!
I don't generally pick apart a game when it comes to details but I will say this: If you enjoy a game with a great story, lots of action, plot twists and a killer soundtrack then you need to get this game! The graphics are fantastic and much better than Sands of Time and that includes all the cut scenes. And talk about there never being a dull moment! Using a walkthrough doesn't necessarily make the game any easier, either. There's plenty of enemies to fight and traps to avoid! Playing the game on a big screen TV with surround sound only hightens the experience. Especially during fight scenes! My only gripe is that if you're in an intense fight with some great background music and get killed, when you start again you normally don't get the great soundtrack again.
All in all, if you're a fan of great action games you need to pick this up!

First of all, I should say that the graphics in this game are really good. It looks like a CG movie, espically when you meet a middle boss, the graphics have entitled with a special effect.

However, the action and the Player control are sucks. Hard to control the player to fight the evils. Although it says there are a lot of fighting combo, it is still hard to activate those comboes.

For this game's graphics, I gave 3 stars.

Warrior Within is what a sequel should be: a bold and daring new direction for a franchise that still maintains the aspects of the original that made it so great, and improves upon it in others. The platforming and acrobatics that made Sands of Time so terrific are still here (and even more thrilling thanks to new twists such as the Dahaka chases), and the combat system is SO MUCH BETTER. Although there is much more emphasis on combat this time around, it's not as bad thanks to a combo system that works flawlessly and adds variation to combat. And if you don't feel like fighting, you can almost always just throw the enemies off a ledge and send them to their doom.

In addition, SOT was a bit on the short side, so Warrior Within had to change that. Thankfully, Warrior Within is much longer, however, it's probably more addictive as well. The plot is just as engaging as SOT (I really loved Kaileena's character), and the atmosphere, which is dark and brooding, makes for a different, but nevertheless even more interesting change than the ancient castles of Persia and the Middle East.

Warrior Within is a gaming masterpiece, and I look forward to more adventures with the Prince of Persia.

I loved the sands of time so naturaly I bought the sequel. This game stinks they made the prince into an idiot. All this game is is mindless killing with an ocasional puzzle in which is always a repeat from the last game. In this game the prince swears constantly and can kill and will every thing in his path. Last game the prince was a gymnist and a puzzel solver. In this game he's a demented warrior freak who wants to change his destiny. This game seems to explain why our society is so violent. It's just mindless killing and swearing (just what we do). Only people that think killing is fun or are just idiots will like this game unless u are one of the above do not buy this game it is a waste of money!!!!

This is the kind of game society has morphed into. The gore, the voilence. This game is for little kids or losers who think that killing is funny. Theres no need for this type of a game.

This game is fantastic!I mean, you get to slash enemys in half, use stealth for a sneaky fight, you get to walk on walls, and much much more.I like how you can replenish your health by simply drinking a handful of water. The rewind button is cool, so if you snuff it, you can go a little ways back without restarting the whole level. There are so many sweet characteristics for this game, it's almost impossible to list them all. I wouldn't recommend this game game to young children though, with all the profanity and blood and stuff like that. I would have rated this game this game T for teen, if it didn't have all the stuff listed above. But overall, I think this game deserves five stars.

This sequel to the PS2 game of the year was just as good as the first. The gameplay has changed a little. Now there is something called the free form fighting system. This new fighting system enables you to pull off powerful moves with button combos. The Warrior Within also has a much darker and mature attitude than the first game did. The storyline is pretty well done and the enemies are cool too.
This game also offers more weapons as you progress through the game. There is even a hidden boss.

When I first played Prince of Persia: Sands of Time -- I was struck by the amazing graphics and incredible story and music that made up this game.

I couldn't wait, therefore, to get the sequal.

Warrior Within is an amazing game. It has a rich storyline, amazing graphics, awesome cutscenes and overall, an enjoyable play.

What's great is that you can do more in this then you could do in Sands of Time. You can develop your own fighting style and have more "Time Powers" as I call it -- at your disposal.

However, I had only two, small problems with the game.

I thought that the music was a bad choice. The music in Sands of Time fit very well with the game in all ways. It was very middle-eastern and went well with the fighting. Listening to Creed or other bands when I play Prince of Persia, just doesn't do that for me.

The second part is that some parts are very, very difficult. I didn't like how there were bosses unlike in Sands of Time. You need to keep your eye open for small things like ladders hidden behind tree's and so on.

One of the best parts of the game is that there is a Secret Ending. An alternate ending actually. When you play the game as the Prince, you can seek out Upgrade Pedestal's which enhance your life by a minor amount every time. There are nine of these pedestals located throughout the game. They are sometimes difficult to fine and hard to get to -- but well worth it in the end. You can save someones life rather then killing them as it actually happens in the game.

All in all, this game is amazing. It has many excellent parts and you will enjoy it. When you finish the game, it is very rewarding. GO BUY IT!

Hi there, Prince of Persia here - yes the True One from 'Sands of Time', and NOT the nefarious pretender in 'Warrior Within'. I hear people comparing me to Kratos, so I took a look at 'God of War', which by the way is a great game (but certainly NOT better than 'Sands of Time'). Here are my impressions.

- As you know, I'm from Persia, the great empire that in its 7000 year history invented the cuneiform, wine, composite bow, bronze smelting, and iron weapons. Our empire stretched from Europe and North Africa to Central/South Asia, while Sparta (where Kratos is from) was a small city state founded in 900 B.C. and whose decline began only 500 years later after their ignominious defeat to the Thebans. Spartans are, of course, well known for their iron discipline and prowess in battle, and I have a great respect for them.

- On a personal level, Kratos is built to be a warrior, where I was really trained to be an emperor. I'm about 6'1" / 170 pounds, where Kratos looks to be about 6'7" / 240 pounds. Kratos is built for raw power, and wields two MASSIVE swords with which he can pulverize stone walls. I'm built for agility and speed, and endowed with superior intelligence to turn any situation to my advantage. Kratos will have had much difficulty with many of the platforming puzzles I had to overcome in 'Sands of Time', while I may have needed more power to subdue some of Ares's more gigantic minions.

- To be fair, Kratos was not always given proper intelligence by the makers of 'God of War', e.g. unable to rotate the so-called 'camera' to precisely locate his objective, e.g. in order to be able to see the ladder in the Pandora's room, he had to swim around and around the central pool. No wonder Kratos vented his accumulated frustrations in such brutal manner when the enemies finally came.

- Again to be fair, I was not given the kind of magical combat spells that Gods endowed upon Kratos, which I feel are unfair advantages, but then again Kratos did not have a means of controlling TIME like I did.

- I, on the other hand, had to exercise my already-superior brains far more, since UbiSoft had crafted the puzzles so thoughtfully and intelligently. The platforming challenges in 'God of War' are not nearly as creative or well-thought-out. This is ok though, since as an emperor-in-training, I had to learn to rely more on my intelligence and instinct and less on brute strength to solve the increasingly complex problem of ruling an empire. That said, I wish I had Kratos' powers to make confetti out of Alexander the Great (What's so 'Great' about him? Read about 'Cyrus the Great' and 'Darius the Great', who achived FAR more than Alexander ever did.), who marked the beginning of the end for the great Persian empire.

- As for the commonality, Kratos and I were both able to save his progress in the same "Mysterious Glow" as I did, were given a 'flying camera' preview of the platforming layouts, cinematic close-ups of special attack moves, moody music and spectacular scenery, not to mention the nubile maidens who help us relax. Both of us fought mostly alone against countless supernatural evil entities and for NO monetary compensation - both of us are noble warriors and NOT some hack-and-slash mercenaries obsessed with collecting treasures.

Overall, Kratos is an extraordinary warrior but his crude brutality (especially against innocent civilians) may make it difficult for people to identify with him as a leader. He cannot be compared to a future emperor like myself who had to cultivate sophistication in so many diverse areas in order to prepare myself for the day when I take the throne. Kratos will make a fine general under my command, but only if he resolves his manic obsession with personal vendetta against the gods.

That's all. I hope to see you guys again if and when UbiSoft comes around to actually creating a sequel to 'Sands of Time' that does any justice to my extraordinary gifts and nobility.
Better each time I play it - Review written on March 04, 2005

I thought this game was completely phenomenal. First of all, i started playing prince of persia when it was played in DOS and the prince consisted of like 10 pixels and even way back in the day when he wore and all white jump suit, before they doctored it to give him real clothes. When i heard that sands of time were coming out, i could hardly wait. This is EXACTLY the kind of games that i love to play and could play over and over and over again without ever getting tired of them.

When i finished sands of time, and it was an incredible game, i loved the story, the action, the graphics, the little attention to details like how sand fell from a wall when you ran on it. The movements of the prince were unlike any game i had ever seen... and unlike most critics i enjoyed his little "aladdin" image.
The first time that i played Warrior Within i have to say i longed for the storyline of the other game. I missed the love story, i missed having the constant comical and endearing dialogue between the prince and Farah and the hilarious rants that he would go on when left alone for a while.. I missed the voice overs that were there before... but the more i played the game, the more i loved it. The new moves are unsurpassed, the game was challenging enough to keep me trying things over and over again, actually i had to get my fiance to do a few of the Dahaka chaces because they made my heart beat way too fast with anxiety.
I can kind of see where the creators are going with the whole series... The first one was about the prince being a young charmer without much combat experience, eager to show off, arrogant, and yet somehow very endearing. The second one is about him being alone, hence the great choice of the main song by Godsmack, it's all about him fighting his deamons and selfish battles. It's that part of his journey, actually one of the cinematics that were cut from the game of him mourning his friend i believe was removed for that very reason. it wasn't about him and other people, it was about himself. now the next game, i believe, will be about him learning to deal with others. about putting other people ahead of himself, falling in love again. Once i could appreciate this game for what it was trying to do, i loved it.

The graphics are still incredible, even better than the first game, the music is still great, and yes the enemies are much harder but it proves to be a good challenge.

Overall, i think the game is fantastic and would recommend it to anyone as long as you're willing to embrace it as it's own thing, separate from the first game.
The prince is a gymnist not a warrior - Review written on March 01, 2005

This game has wonderful graphics and tight controlls, but it should be called "Gymnist Within." The prince has incredible physical abilities that are fun to use in battle; when he is fighting. Jumping from polls, runing along walls, and dodging the same traps over and over again are what you will use his abilities for most of the game. The camera works half of the time; the other half it acts as a hinderence. Buy this game if you always wanted to be an Olympic gymnist, but your genetics just wouldn't allow it.

For this being the 3rd Prince of Pesia produced I prefer playing this one to any of the others. And incase anyone is wondering, yes this is the third game. The first was produced many many years ago and was only for very old computer (I beleive before the Windows operating system). Being as I was very young I have yet to beat it but was extatic when I found it in PoP the Sand of Time. Also, in Sands of Time the prince was very mild mannored and in the next one he is very angry. After being chased by the Dahaka for 10 years wouldn't you become a little bitter? The music was also picked well for Warrior Within (though a little loud in places) since this game has much more of a dark tone and a little more violent I don't think the music of Sand of Time would work very well for the mood of the new one.

Now, Pop Warrior Within has it's good points and draw backs as well. Having the free-form fighting style very a very nice change from the few things you could do in the pervious game, and switching between the two games I noticed how simple Sands of Time was. In Warrior Within, there are numerous different ways to attack and kill plus they got rid of the sequence where the prince puts his sword away after every fight. Instead the enemies are thrown throughout the game adding difficulty to the puzzles in some places. Also, the 3 difficulty settings adds time to the game play and difficulty when you replay it. Granted by the time you finish the games you've probably played through all the sections enough times you probably have it memorized by that time.

Now, a few draw backs, the camera angle changes so often it causes you to die many times while fighting, and the fact that you do have to back track all the time gets very tedious. I even found a glitch where I fell down and hole and just kept falling (I think I fell for about 5 mins before I restarted). Checkpoints are also few and far away from eachother and when you die(and it's often) you have to go back to a section you probably did at least 20 mins ago.

Other than those problems I relly enjoyed playing, even if it ment starting completly over so I can get a few life upgrades I forgot. In my opinion it was well worth it.
Never Played the first Prince of Persia - Review written on February 23, 2005

I have to say that this is one of the most challenging games that I have ever played. I never played a game where you had to do a certain kind of jump just to get to the other side. I think that is why I got so frustrated with the game because when I play I would rather just do a regular jump then run up the wall. The graphic were good they had a lot of detail. I don't really have a lot to say about the game because I rented it and didn't get very far. Lol. I can say that after playing this game I don't think I'm going to try to play the first Prince of Persia game. I did see that a lot of people say that the first game was better so I might give it another chance.
