What a Blast - Review written on September 19, 2008

Everytime we play this game we have a good time. Apples to Apples is a game of silly comparisons. It is similiarly played like Whonu. (our family prefers Whonu, so that's why this is only a four star)

The judge flips the green card and you have a little mitful of red apple cards. You have to determine which red apple card is the most similiar to the green apple card. Which card fits best. The judge decides. SO the judge can pick you because your card is the funniest, or the closest or the strangest. You have to read your judges and that my friends is how good relationships can be made.

This game really is a lot of fun, the junior version is just as wonderful as the adult version.

On the advice of my grandson, I purchased the game, 'Apples to Apples', and took it on our family reunion vacation. Ten of us played late into the night and we can't wait to get together to play it again. Great fun! While some cards were a tad over the heads of the younger players, the cards matched to them helped the boys understand the original card. It's less about competition than about laughing and sharing. It's good for all ages!

Each family member has favorite "instant win" cards, all different and all with hilarious reasons behind the selection. Have both expansion sets too. Great fun no matter what age. Everybody loves to be the judge! The bigger trhe group, the more crazy the answers get! We've learned that the most logical match is often NOT the judges choice. Random answers are cool!

The more people you have the more fun the game is. There are no wrong or right answers. The judge chooses the answer they like best. The answers can be so funny you will have a lot of laughs with minimal brain work.

Expensive, but well worth it. We have played this game for a month, and will continue to do so. It is easy to learn and you can play for hours. All you do is match an adjective like "beautiful" with a noun like "Madonna". There's plenty of time for friendly diagreement b/w rounds.I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys board games.

I haven't had this much laugh-out-loud fun in years! Game is well-organized and sturdy. There are more than enough subject cards; no chance of having to duplicate cards within a game. Even after playing for hours with four adults, we had barely touched the subject cards. Too much fun!

I use this game to teach English as a second language. It encourages free conversation between the students, and the words come with additional words to help the student with the meanings. It can be played in groups from 3 to 10

A great game for your kids! Teaches them to think about how things can be compared. They use their own judgement to decide who has made the best comparisons. Great for bringing kids out of their shells if they are a shy player since everyone gets a turn at being the 'judge' and gets to rule which matches are best depending on their opinion. My 16 year old loves to play it in with friends-great game for 6 kids to work well together.Lots of laughing!

An easy to learn "fun" game!! Trying to get the judge to pick your card is half the fun! You have to use your brain and choose a card that you think the judge will pick! It's funny to see which cards you win, and at the end we read the cards we have won to describe ourselves!! I have played with as few as 4 and as many as 8, the more people playing the more fun you create!

Played at a party with 10 people ranging from elementary school though senior citizens and couldn't wait to play again. Had many bystanders that just wanted to watch and laugh with us. Heard it advertised by Glenn Beck and purchased out of curiosity -- Terrific fun!

I've played this game with all of my friends & with all of my family on several occasions. Every time I play the game we end up playing it for several hours bc it is simply so much fun. Anyone of any age can play (my grandma played) & it provides so much laughter & fun for any group. Only thing I would advise is to play w people who you know bc you have to have some kind of relationship w the other players. Highly Recommend APPLES TO APPLES for a good laugh & good fun w good friends & fam!

We've probably given ten of these away as presents to friends and family that have a lower dollar budget attached. They've been received with rave reviews and a few invitations to come join in the festivities. This game forces conversation - a real ice breaker - and is GREAT for inviting new neighbors over for a meet and greet. You need a minimum of four players, but it really gets fun with more and is perfect for family reunions. We recommend it highly.

My husband and I played this game on Thanksgiving with our two grown children and their spouses. They were a bit skeptical because they had never heard of the game before. Everyone ended up loving the game. I bought this game as a gift to my daughter and her husband for Christmas. It is fun with four people but more fun with six.

We got this game and our children played it with their cousins at Christmas. They had such a great time playing that we decided to get it for our relatives, too. We don't have to take our game along to play at our family and friends homes anymore because they all own it, too. It is fun for a wide range of ages.

We bought our Apples to Apples game 2 years ago and, at a games nite or social, we would be asked to bring our game! This year, we bought 5 games for Christmas gifts. On Christmas Day, we introduced the game and had 8 playing ranging from our 10-yr old nephew to 87-yr old Grandma Mary. Easy rules, lots of fun and everyone gets to participate and learn. A great ice-breaker!

My 12 yo daughter got this for Christmas. We have played it several times as a family (we have a 9 yo girl, too). It is actually teaching the 9 year old vocabulary and she likes reading the cards to make her decisions on what to vote for.

It is alot of fun, but seems to be more fun playing in groups of more than 4. We're going to try it for a party we are having. I'm sure they'll be lots of laughs!

This game was a hit from the time it was taken out of the box. There was no time in setting up and directions. Within 5 minutes of opening the box we played the game. We palyed it often over the Christmas Break. I would reccommend this game to everyone.

This is what I expected it to be -- a board game. In my opinion, they don't call them "board" games for nothing (they're boring!), but the wife loves it, so I guess its enjoyability is very subjective.

We played it with a total of 6 players and had a blast. The think I liked about this game is everyone has an equal change, unlike trivia games for example. The only downside is once you play it a few times, you end up seeing repeats of the cards.

We first played Apples to Apples at a friend's house and enjoyed it so much we had to get it for ourselves. We played it with family over the holidays and everyone had a blast. It's remarkably easy to play yet allows for infinite responses and creativity. Each person is actively involved in every round, and you don't have to be a genius to enjoy it. A super game for four or more people (the more, the merrier!)

very fun party game, but a pain to shuffle the cards at first - Review written on December 31, 2007

This game is a hoot. It is a pain to open all the packages of cards initially and try to shuffle them together, but otherwise it is easy to play and doesn't require a lot of thought, which is nice. You also don't need pencils and paper or to keep track of anything (you win by acquiring the most cards, such as 5).

We got this game as a gift and cannot believe how much fun it is. The game is perfect for adults and children of different abilities. We played it a family game night, with neighbors while waiting for an event, and even played the bible edition in Sunday school. The common thing about all these scenarios is that everyone had a great time. We highly recommend this game!

Our family played Apples to Apples on Christmas Eve and laughed our heads off. I would describe it as similar to the game called "Compatibility." However, when you play Compatibility, you have a partner. Everybody used to complain that when they were my partner, they would end up losing. With Apples to Apples, everyone plays on their own. That is, one person is a winner, not a team.

We opened this game from Santa on Christmas morning and played for 4 hours in the afternoon. It was really fun trying to convince, a.k.a. "lobby", the other players and the judge that your card was the best choice. While I don't think the game is for really young kids, I think it is a game for a family or a group that all will enjoy! Even the person who is not a board gamer will get in to it! Try it, you'll like it!
