I have to say that I am getting rather tired of these rather short compilations where there are always at least 1 or 2 stories that are available on several other DVD's/Video's
The Jet Engine in particular is on at least 3 DVD's my son already has, it seems a shame that they cant have at least 1 exclusive episode per dvd - its not like they dont have YEARS worth of episodes to pick from.
With that said, I feel I have to strongly disagree as regards some of the other comments about this being too scary for 2 year olds - my son ( 2years old) has been watching Thomas for quite some time now and has never found ANY of the ghost based stories frightening - any child who is scared at this age of something like this is obviously not getting the right love and attention at home.
If your child already has a healthy Thomas collection then I'm sure that if you have a look you will find ALL these episodes are already present on other compilations - steer clear.
If you have just started buying Thomas DVD's/Video's for your child then this will be a welcome addition.
As for the accents for Donald and Douglas, they are laughable to say the least (especially if like me you happen to be from Scotland )

Oh come on,the 3 Season 6 episodes on this DVD aren't so bad, their pretty good,my favorite one is "Thomas & The Jet Engine". But if you don't like them, just watch the 3 Season 7 episodes only. My favorite one is "Bulgy Rides Again." This goes for the scared children,if their scared of the 2 Season 6 Episodes,"Percy & The Haunted Mine" and "Scaredy Engines",they should only watch the 3 Season 7 Episodes. This goes for Cloudy Harpe,if you want another DVD where Thomas is back to normal, then buy James Learns A Lesson & Other Stories(another DVD with the same composers, transitions, and camera work). End of story.

I LIKED THIS MOVIE BECAUSE SOME OF THE DETAILS WERE GOOD AND SOME ARE SCARY. MY FAVORITE PART OF THE MOVIE IS WHEN THOMAS GOES SPEEDING AHEAD OF GORDON.HE WENT SO FAST THAT HE COULDN'T PUT ON THE BRAKES. BUT THEN THE JET ENGINE RAN OUT OF FUEL.

Before I start, I would like to say one thing. Will you please stop acting like this DVD is a sign that Thomas is back to normal? The reason "Steamies Vs Diesels" was so different was because the episodes in it are from Series 8. The episodes on this DVD are from Series 6 and Series 7, and were made before the episodes on "Steamies Vs Diesels." The episodes on "Steamies Vs Diesels" were just released earlier. I'm sorry, but HIT haven't "listened to you" and they aren't changing the show back to how it was before. Just accept it...the former composers are gone, the episode transitions have been changed, and the camera work is different, and that's how it's going to be from now on.

Anyway...The three Series 6 episodes on these DVD are easily the worst, with unrealistic storylines and the usual mediocre narration from Alec Baldwin, who has changed his Cranky voice to one that makes him sound like a robot, and who has once again ignored Donald and Douglas's accents. To be fair though, Baldwin does put a bit more effort into "Thomas and the Jet Engine" than he normally puts into his episodes. But he can still do much better than this.

The three Series 7 episodes are much better. The storylines are much better, and Michael Brandon is an excellent narrator. His Bulgy, Harold and Emily voices are pretty good, and his Salty voice isn't bad either.

The episodes ranked in best to worst are...

1. Harold and the Flying Horse
2. Salty's Stormy Tale
3. Bulgy Rides Again
4. Scaredy Engines
5. Thomas and the Jet Engine
6. Percy and the Haunted Mine

The DVD ends with "Boo Boo Choo Choo," a song that I think is intended to comfort people who are alone in the dark. It's pretty catchy...I keep humming it to myself when I'm not expecting it!

Overall, this DVD is fairly good, but not the best one out there.

I am getting this DVD with Toy on Wednesday. The toy is called 'Bulgy'. Find out what happens when Thomas goes zooming with the jet engine - I have never seen the episodes that are new from Season 6 and/or Season 7. They wouldn't be happened if they needn't find stuff that I found anything with such dangers. I love Thomas the Tank Engine & friends, but watch out ... there's a _jet_ engine ahead.

Episodes:

1) Thomas & The Jet Engine: Thomas is sent to the harbour to pick up a jet engine, but when Cranky accidentally turns the switch on with his arm, Thomas finds himself whizzing down the line!

2) Percy & The Haunted Mine: Percy goes to collect some goods at the Abandoned Mine, and sees an old chimney there sink to the ground. Percy is spooked, and hears from Donald and Douglas the next morning that the "naughty gnomes" are responsible...

3) Scaredy Engines: On Halloween, Edward tells the engines spooky ghost stories. The stories make Percy scared and so Thomas teases him about this. On the same night, Thomas, Percy and Duck are sent to the Smelter Yard. But when Thomas says he can manage alone to finish off the job, off Percy and Duck go, but how brave is Thomas when he's on his own?

4) Harold & The Flying Horse: It is the time of year for the Summer Fete. Harold the Helicopter wishes that he could help too; but he's so busy with his patrol duties that he doesn't have time. This makes him sad.
Later, however, his friend, Pegasus the Horse becomes stuck in a ditch and needs help. So Harold flies to the rescue by lifting him out of the mud and Pegasus is flown to the Fete - giving Percy quite a shock as to seeing what he thinks is a flying horse!

5) Bulgy Rides Again: Summertime has arrived on Sodor. There are more passengers arriving but less engines to do the work. Thomas calls this a "double decker" problem, which gives Sir Topham Hatt an idea. He goes to see Bulgy (who has been a henhouse for several years) in his field to tell him that he'll be back on the road, helping to deliver passengers. Bulgy is delighted, but when he is cleaned and mended, the hens miss their old home and they creep aboard him one night, where they cause confusion and delay the next morning...

6) Salty's Stormy Tale: Salty is hurt when Thomas and Percy tease him about how he talks, but when a lighthouse's light goes out, it's up to Salty and new arrival Fergus to save a ship heading for the rocks.

I don't mind if Michael Angelis or Alec Baldwin might be narrators, but I'm _not_ sure if they narrate... [laugh]

My two year old loves this DVD---and I mention this because he's the only Thomas connoisseur in our house. He doesn't seem to notice the same idiosyncracies that I do as I'm listening along. For instance, the problem I find is that Sir Topham Hatt's voice sounds different from story to story. I like this Brandon character on the whole (sounds kind of Mike Myers-y. However, the lack of continuity in the tenor of the voices bothers me. Also, Bulgy sounds different from moment to moment. Mind you, my little fellow is hooked and could not care less, but as most responsible TV parents know, if your kid watches it, you do too!

I have gone on and on about how much I hate the new Thomas movies but Steamis vs. Diesels was something else. I was expecting nothing from this one but I really was suprised. They reinstaded the theme song and the intermissions and put Alec Baldwin back (Wasn't too happy about that). The stories were good but people watching with the toddler who is watching will be quite bored. Thomas has changed quite a bit but I think Hit Entertainment is on the right track to fiking the problems. This is a sure hit for your kids but pop in an earlier one if you want to stay awake during it as well.

I'm a 11-year old and just last week, my little brother got the new Thomas and Friends DVD "Thomas and the Jet Engine." I was glad that they got Alec Baldwin back, who narrated three stories, but in the next three, the new narrator Michael Brandon narrates. Both did a excellent job. The DVD includes six new stories, a new sing-along song, and new games and activities. Some of the new games are called Memory Madness, Counting corner, and What came first? My brother watched it over and over and over and over, which i was surprised by, like he was addicted to it. Anyways, about the stories. . . . .

Thomas and the Jet Engine: Gordon the Big, Blue Express engine boasts to Henry, James and Percy that he's Sodor Railway's fastest engine. But Thomas secretly wished to go as fast as Gordon. When Sir Topham Hatt told Thomas to collect a Jet Engine, Thomas does. But at Brendam Docks, when Thomas told Cranky to hurry up, Cranky got cranky and was careless with his hook and knocked the switch on the Jet Engine and Thomas was then in for the ride of his life.

Percy and the Haunted Mine: In the Springtime, the statiomasters had a contest for the most beautiful station on the Island. One evening when Sir Topham Hatt told Percy to get some flower bushes from Mathiwaite, Percy does. But he didn't want to cause the line passed the Haunted Mine. Percy had to stop there when the signal was red, but then saw the chimmney sink into the ground. Next day, he told Donald and Douglas and they said it was the work of the Naughty Gnomes. But later that evening, Sir Topham Hatt told Percy to get some freight cars from the mine. When Percy came to get the cars, he saw the building sink, and rammed the car and saw the Naughty Gnomes. But when he told Sir Topham Hatt. . . Well, why don't you find out for yourself?

Scardey Engines: On Halloween Night, Edward tells Gordon, Henry, James, Percy, Thomas and Duck spooky stories. But when Sir Topham Hatt told Thomas, Percy and Duck to collect some scrapmetal from the Smelters, Percy is frightinged and Thomas teases him for being a scardey engine. But later when the manager wants one engine to stay to finish up, Duck trciked Thomas to stay to get back at him for teasing Percy. But when Thomas was on his own, odd, spooky things and a old steam whistle frightinged Thomas, he raced away back to the sheds and Percy followed and both made up.

Harold and the Flying Horse: It's springtime and the Vicar's Garden Party (or Summer Fete its called) is in full swing. But Harold the Helicopter is stuck with patrol duty and wishes to help. But when Sir Topham Hatt told that Pegasus (a horse he incountered earlier in the story) is stuck in a ditch and need to get out.

My 3-year old, who has seen many other Thomas videos/DVDs was really scared by this one - "The Spooky Mine" and "Scaredy Engines" were too much for him. He doesn't even want to watch it again, and based on his initial reaction, I don't want him to watch it again either.

Thomas and the Jet Engine sounds like a great video to get, but don't have it yet. It sounds likes its a great video to watch. I should reconnmend parents to get this. And about the stories . . .

Thomas and the Jet Engine: Gordon the big blue express engine boasts to the other engines that he is Sodor Railway's fastest engine there is, but Thomas secretly wishes to go as fast as Gordon. But then Sir Topham Hatt tells Thomas to pull a flatcar carrying a jet engine. But when Cranky the crne knocks the switch on it, Thomas's wish came ture and is in for the ride of his life.

Percy and the Hanuted Mine: There is to be a Best-Dressed Station contest at stations along the lines. Percy is to get shrubbery from the old mine for Mathwaite. But as he spends the night on a siding at the mine, he sees the smokestack sink into the ground. Next morning, he tells Donald and Douglas. They tell him its the work of the Naughty Nomes. That night, Percy is back at the mine and sees the building sink, but sees what might be the Naughty Nomes.

Scaredy Engines: On Halloween night, Edward tells Thomas, Percy and Duck scary stories. But when Sir Topham Hatt tells them to get some scrap metal from the smelter, Thomas teases Percy for being afriad. So Percy and Duck leave Thomas on his own, until odd, spooky things happen to Thomas. So how brave is he on his own? At the end, both engines say sorry and are friends again.

Harold and the Flying Horse: The Summer Fete has come to the Island of Sodor and everyone is having fun, except Harold the Heilcopter. He's stuck doing rescue duties. But when a horse named Pegasus is stuck in a ditch, Harold may help him out and the Fete after all.

Bugly Rides Again: Summer has come and lots of people are coming to the Island of Sodor and there isn't enough transportation to get the people around. Thomas calls this a "double-decker" problem. This gave Sir Topham Hatt an idea. He decides its time to let Bugly the Bus return to the roads. Bugly is pleased, but where will the chichkens live?

Salty's Stormy Tale: Salty is sad and upset one day when Thomas and Percy tease and copy his accent, but Salty is worried that a storm is coming as he picks up the newest character for Thomas and Friends, a traction railway engine named Fergus. And salty, worried about the storm coming is right. A huge storm hits the Island of Sodor and its up to Salty and Fergus to save a ship when a lighthouse light has gone out. Meanwhile, Thomas and Percy look for Salty to say they're sorry.

The stories were great and so was the new music song Boo Boo Choo Choo. Also Alec Baldwin and Michael Brandon narrates the video, but i can't understand how two narrators can narrate the stories. Well I'll just have to find out when i get the video. Hope this review was helpfu.

I enjoyed this Thomas video very much. After seeing Steamies V.S. Desiels, I was hoping they would put this one back to normal and the did. The theme song is back to normal, the transitions are back to normal(so no more of those stupid activites), and they got the old director back. All of the stories on this video are good too(stories include:Thomas & the Jet Engine, Percy & the haunted mine, Scaredy engine, Harold & the flying horse, Bulgy rides again, and Salty stormy tale) Even the music video,"boo! boo! choo! choo!" is good. On a scale of one to ten, I'd give Thomas & the Jet Engine a 10

This movie is really good. I'm glad they brought Bulgy back. He's now green and I like his new color better. My favorite story was "Bulgy Rides Again" and "Thomas and the Jet Engine" because I liked how fast Thomas went and I liked the music. I like that they brought the old music back. This movie is better than "Steamies vs. Diesels" and "New Friends for Thomas". I liked the narrators a lot. A new character named Fergus is in "Salty's Stormy Tale" that is blue traction engine. I thought Fergus looked cool, but he didn't talk much. All Thomas fans will LOVE this movie.

Alec Baldwin and Michael Brandon narrarate this exciting video.

Thomas & the Jet Engine: Thomas, Percy, James and Henry are tired of Gordon boasting about how fast he is, but Thomas secretly wishes he could go just as fast. When Cranky knocks the switch on his special load (a jet engine), Thomas' wish comes true!

Percy & the Haunted Mine: The branch line stations are having a "Best Dressed Station" contest. Percy is sent to pick up shrubbery from Maithwaite. As he waits in the night, a smokestack at the old mine sinks to the ground! Donald and Douglas say it's the work of the Naughty Nomes. Percy then sees the old building sink! Then he sees what could be the nomes...

Scaredy Engines: Edward tells Thomas, Percy and Duck scary stories on Halloween. When Sir Topham Hatt send them to pick up scrap from the smelter, Thomas teases Percy for being scared. He later says he can manage alone, so Percy and Duck leave, but how brave is he on his own?

Bulgy Rides Again: More and more passengers are coming and less engines are able to help with them. Sir Topham Hatt decides that Bulgy the Bus needs to be restored and put back to work. Bulgy is pleased, but what happens when the chickens miss their home?

Salty's Stormy Tale: Salty feels sad when Thomas and Percy mock the way he talks. Salty worries that a storm will soon come as he collects a new traction railway engine named Fergus, and he is right. It's soon up to Salty and Fergus to save a ship when the lighthouse goes out. Meanwhile, Thomas and Percy try to find Salty to apologize.

Salty's Stormy Tale

The movie is 35 mins, and this means that the video should be semi-normal. Thank God! Because who the heck gave this liscence to HIT anyway. This video sounds promising! Also, there might not be a music video. But thats okay, because they've gotten pretty dumb.

Have noticed how the engines moved in the previous seasons. And Last and most important of all. That Stupid most terrible crap. That they have in the beggining. -What??? I don't know, this sounds good, but it doesn't sound like thomas. would thomas ever really pull a jet engine? In fact, are there even jets on the island of Sodor? Well, I at least hope that the stories are good, they keep Michael Brandon, and that they get our favorite music back and stop those god forsaken pieces of crap they call transistions between stories. HIT entertainment is ruining thomas. Are they not using the unused stories by the Rev. W. Awdry and Christopher Awdry because of copyright? If not, they better start using them, because HIT is starting to change everything. This is not what anyone intended. I hope that HIT puts everything back to normal with this video though. Steamies vs. Diesels sucked, so they need to make up for that. And by the way, Steamies vs. Diesels isn't an Anchor Bay release. IT might just be a whacked video developed by HIT. I hope so.
