According to the product description, this unit was able to charge a 8.4 volt battery. This unit CANNOT charge a 8.4. The battery does not fit.

This product is fine. Better designed than orginial equipment supplied with set. Orginial equipment notorious for failing. But I first bought a slide type charger locally by mistake and had to destroy the over ambitious theft proof packaging to open, making unreturnable. Than I found my batteries were bad after buying this charger. It would have been smarter to throw the set away and by a whole new outfit.

This is an outstanding product. After going through 3 of the standard chargers that come with my 14.4V cordless drill, I got this one. It works exactly as advertised. Charges the battery packs to full capacity in under one hour, and they hold the charge perfectly. Highly recommend this charger for any B&D cordless battery packs.

As advertised, this is a quick-charge battery charger. It appears to charge my 14.4V battery in about an hour. I don't think the charge lasts as long as it should, so having an extra battery on-hand for major chores is suggested.

This unit replaces a failed charger that came with the equipment. I am still fuming that B&D would put out a poor quality charger, only for it to fail in less than to 2 years. Then after several attempts to have them replace the charger, they forced me to buy a replacement charger of better quality. From all my research, the poor quality charger is well known to B&D and they did nothing to satisfy their customers. Poor...very poor. I am no longer a B&D customer. The replacement charger works fine and I am sure it will last for many years. The purchase and delivery was flawless through Amazon.

My old Power Storm Batterys hit their final days. I bought new batterys and they worked great. Unfortunatly my old charger took a dump the third time I charged the new batterys. If you have an original black box power storm charger and just bought new batteries, Trust Me and get this charger too and bring new life to your old Power Storm tools. It charges them faster then the original too.

The product works exactly the way it was explained in the product description. The product was delivered timely and in perfect condition.

I could not find this product locally at all the normal outlets. I found it easily on Amazon, it was exactly what I needed and performs as expected.

My original charger quit working and rather than buy new equipment, I was able to keep my old and use a new charger, works great and a lot faster than the old one

It is much easier to use than the charger that came with the tool. I had a hard time getting the battery out of the old charger but this one is a brezze. works as advertised. very pleased.

Charges my old 12V Firestorm batteries much...much quicker than the original one. Don't have to worry about overcharging too. A good upgrade.

The reviews on Amazon were very helpful. We agreed that the charger that comes with the Black and Decker was so cheaply made my husband had hardly used it at all when it failed. The first one that came with my Firestorm melted after about a year. This one replaced it perfectly. So far no problems...

And this charger beats the stock firestorm that came with my drill. Faster charge and no worries about forgetting to turn it off.

Got this for my husband to replace the one that came with his drill. Replaced the original one once before and decided to buy this one when we needed to replace it again. Very fast charge and love that it tells you when your battery is bad. Would definately recommend this product

Enough said. This works exactly as I expected. I had previously bought and older plug and cord charger that would actually drain my batteries of life if I left it plugged in. With this model, I can leave the battery in the charger until I need to use it.

I had to replace the OEM charger because it died. Apparently B&D has had lots of problems with the OEM charger they originally shipped with the cordless drill sets a few years ago.

Amazon had the best overall price for the unit and as usual, their shipping time is excellent!

This charger is much faster than the OEM one that died, plus it will tell you, through the blinking LED signal, whether or not you have a defective (dead) battery pack. One of the two original packs I had was defective :-0

Still a good buy and a better price here at Amazon than you'll find at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Black and Decker PS1MVC 8.4-Volt to 14.4-Volt 1 Hour Pod Style Battery ChargerI purchased this product in the middle of may this year. I have used it several times and find that it works very well so far. My only dismay, is the fact that here in this part of Canada the only way to obtain this product is online. The s&h charges with customs fees cost more than the product, which really sucks. Why can't B&D make products like this available to us some other way? Like with the cordless tool to start with, instead of the cripple charger that comes with the tool?

I almost bought a standard replacement charger but then I read a review about how bad they are and it recommended this charger. Indicator lights told me that one of my batteries was shot. Other indicator lights let you know when the battery is fully charged - usually in 1 hour. Totally worth the money.

I received this item very fast. It charges my (14.4)batteries with no problem. I ruined 2 different chargers that came with my drills by not removing the battery. This charger does not have that problem You can leave a battery in the charger and it will not ruin the charger or overcharge the battery. I highly recommend this product.

A better buy than I thought it would be. This charger works fast and more powerful than the one I got with my Black and Decker hedge trimmer. If you are looking for a charger, this is worth the cost.

Very nice little charger. Way better than the stock piece of junk I got with the tools. On a side note: If you think your battery is bad...
after charging your battery test the voltage output. If it doesn't read a voltage at least as much as it's rated output i.e. 14.4, 12.0 etc it probably has a dead cell. And no... I do not believe that those magical battery re-conditioners actually work ! ! !

Excellent as described- does fully charge in one hour-only negative is it does not fit in the drill case.

This charger works just as claimed in material. Very pleased with the new addition.

Like those of many reviewers, the chargers supplied originally with my tools, even one "smart" one, eventually all died. One (presumably a "dumb" model) did so fairly spectacularly. I tracked down this unit at a local ACE hardware store when I was in need, and paid more than I'd have wished to, but since then it has never given me any reason for regret. I even bought a new Firestorm pack a month ago, and feel pretty confident this charger will be sufficient until I move on to one of the newer rechargeable technologies.

It does whine a bit in use, at a pretty high frequency. Not that it's loud enough on it's own to be any bother, but on some surfaces it might resonate and surprise you.

that Black and Decker SHOULD have supplied with their 9.6V cordless products. I ran thru two of the little plug in transformer chargers in no time, and even when they worked they took forever, and it was anyone's guess when your battery was charged. This baby tells you everything you need to know, and if you forget you have a battery on charge, it automatically prevents an overcharge, which shortens battery life. Hardly more expensive than the other little chargers to boot.

A much better charger then the original one that came with the kit and for only a few dollars more.

get this one and it will not die when you put a bad battery in it, it will just indicate that the cell is bad.

The cheap charger that came with my 9.6v drill died after several years. I was about to buy the exact replacement when I saw this one for a few bucks more. This charger is soooo much nicer than the cheapo charger that comes with the drill. This charger charged one of my batteries in less than an hour, and it showed that my 2nd battery was bad.
