A perfect pan - Review written on January 19, 2008

Really happy about this pan. It is thick and solid, the handle is a sculpted hand-finished stainless steel casting that is attached to the pan with huge rivits that will never come loose. Much more than what I was expecting.

Every company says their type of coating is better, but I thought Cuisinart's description made sense. So far it cleans up very easily and I don't see any problems with the coating. We don't attack it with sharp metal objects, but sometimes use them half-way carefully. This is all far better than a non-stick pan we bought maybe eight years ago. Technology marches on.

The price seemed very reasonable when I bought it and really seems like a bargain when seen live and up close.

Highly recommended, but of course I can't say if I would change my mind in, say, five years if it turned out all the coating fell off. It just doesn't seem like that will happen.
Nice pans, but lose nonstick fairly quickly - Review written on December 01, 2007

Initially I was quite happy with the pan. They are good quality and cook evenly. The non-stick surface worked well.

After about 6 months however the nonstick surface did not work very well any more. I wash them by hand, and only use plastic utensils to avoid scratching. I was disappointed by how quickly the nonstick surface was lost. I later looked on Consumer Reports, and found that they also say they have poor nonstick durability.

After having using stainless steel skillets for 4 years (I got chicken when I read about how hot flames would produce fumes from nonstick pans), I finally cracked and bought this nonstick one. Now this is the only skillet I use! No more messy, stuck-on, deformed, burnt foods. I have no basis of comparison since this is my first nonstick but I have no complaints... except for a few scratches inadvertanly placed there by a dear husband who used a metal utensil.

I love cooking with this pan. It is the best non-stick pan I have ever owned. You can't beat the price either. It will out last my last non-stick pan which flaked and ended up in the garbage can.

I was initialy concerned that the skillet would not heat evenly since it was lighter than the Caphelon it replaced, however it cooks more evenly and better than expected, and that's on an electric stove top with slightly uneven heating coils.
The clean up is a breeeze, and the fact that I can use regular utensils (carefully) is a great convenience.

Being an all-clad snob until the non-stick coating came off. Then I tried this after reading a review in Cook's Illustrated. They hit it right on the head. Great value. Non stick is going to get dinged so dont spend a lot. Nice heat balance and easy weight.

Excellent product. Heats evenly, cleans very easily. Although we don't use metal utensils, the coating has been durable....not a mark on it.

I inherited some really nice, well worn in industrial cook ware which I've used for years. I needed a 10 inch skillet so this was my first nonstick purchase. Other reviews mentioned that the surface scratched and mine did slightly too the first time I used it, but it was a minor scratch and it has not affected the non-stick surface from performing. In fact it's great for eggs, sautés, etc. It claims that you can use any utensils with it, but I don't think you should. All in all, it's a nice little pan.

It is everything I wanted. Seems to be sturdy except the bottom scratches easily. Should last for years. I find it to be better than the Cephalon that I already have. Much lighter to handle.

This Cuisinart Skillet is the "top of the line" as far as I'm concerned, and I treat it royally. It has such a good solid feel to it. The heat spreads evenly. What can I say? I just love it.

I also bought the 12 inch skillet, which is just the thing for those bigger jobs. Boy, I feel like the "Queen of the Hut".

These skillets are certainly a good investment.

I bought the 13 inch skillet after purchasing the quart sauce pan. Absolutely the best I have ever had. The instructions, yes, do read them, tell you to only cook on "medium" heat or lower. It works beautifully. Also, I have had no trouble with the finish scratching - you would really have to dig at the surface to do so. Not necessary, as everything slides right out onto your place or bowl. I would buy lids to match if they were offered. Otherwise, I have some older lids from discarded pans I use.

First off I love the cuisinart cookware lines and also this pan. It only gets 4 stars because it cones without a lid. Now a lid would be used infrequently on this type of pan, but could come in useful from time to time.
This pan makes a great 3 egg omelet which slides right out when done. Also good to saute small quantities of veggies. I pan fried a boneless ribeye in butter in it the other night, then made a nice pan sauce while the steak rested. Great for many single serving dishes.
The pan heats quickly and evenly, so high heat is not needed on the stovetop. Although Cuisinart suggests metal utensils are OK, they should actually not be used in any non stick pan as aggressive use or slippage of the utensil could gouge the finish. Always use nylon and wood utensils. Wood spoons are cheap. I have been acquiring Cuisinart pans for about a year now. I have multiple non-stick ones and have no non stick coating damage on any of them with frequent use.
Overall, great pan, great price.

The box and inside materials say that metal utensils can be used, but after a single use my metal spatula created deep grooves all over the surface. The pan was ruined. Very disappointed.

I have been looking for a good skillet to saute vegetables and I find this really working well. You might want to use it with medium to low flame. High flame might sometimes burn the food depending on what is being cooked. Hard anodized surface is very easy to clean and non sticky too. I recommend this skillet for any starters as well as experienced cooks.

the only problem with this item and all other nonstick hard-anodized items is that the surface gets scratched up too easily.

This skillet is 20 times better than the 12" plain stainless Cuisinart one I got a week ago. The heat is even and the non-stick coat is awesome. Highly recommend. Nice thick body.
