Ok if you can bear the hissing sound. - Review written on November 21, 2007

The ipod can play songs and simultaneously get charged by this charger. As long as you can bear the low background static, playback is just fine. It's not really noticeable until your car comes to a stop though. One other feature I'd have expected to see is the ability to automatically put the ipod in standby mode when I turn off the engine when the ipod is charging.

This product works fine, by charging my I-pod on the go. But, Please understand that this item only charges the I-pod, it does NOT play your songs from ur cars's speakers. For playing the songs through your speakers, you have to buy a cassette adaptor or the FM tuner. But I think this really charges the I-pod really quick.

My only complaint with this car charger is that the connection to the ipod is very tight compared to my other car charger. hopefully the tiny prongs don't break off.

I haven't noticed that my iPod goes into pause when I shut the speakers off - I connect it with a cable to the auxiliary jack, and I always have to turn my iPod off when I park, but this charger does exactly what I expected it to do. The light is a nice feature that lets you know that your iPod is plugged in and charging without having to look at the screen. The only thing I wish is that I had been able to find it in black to go with my black iPod, but that wasn't even an issue that would have kept me from buying it. All in all, exactly what I would expect from a Belkin product - sturdy, fits well, and performs as it should.

This keeps you charged and humming along in the car. Works as advertised. Seems to protect the iPod from surges, too. Our cigarette lighter shorted out with the iPod plugged in with the Belkin Power Cord, and both cord and iPod were none the worse for wear.
Killed my car adapter splitter - Review written on April 05, 2007

I am really grateful that I used a car adapter splitter to plug my iPod with this power cord as the power cord blew out my splitter instead of my iPod. I have had no problems in the past using my splitter with my CD player, etc. I feel really uneasy about using this power cord directly into my car plug with my iPod. The fuse blew and I don't even know where to find another one but I don't want to use it again anyway.

I got this item after reading some of the other reviews while searching for the perfect ipod charger for my car. Belkin definitely makes some of the best products for ipods and would definitely recommend this item for anyone. Its a tad more expensive than other chargers but far worth it.

I have used the mobile power cord for my iPod several times now and it does work exactly as advertised. I like Belkin products because they are very well made and last a very long time. In fact to date I have never had any kind of problem or issue with any of my Belkin adaptors or cables.
I will buy another Belkin product as soon as I identify the need for one.

The green LED helps to make sure it is firmly connected.

This item does exactly what it's suppose to do. It also makes the signal stronger therefore you get better reception. Worth the money. Only drawback would be, there is a lot of cord hanging around.

I was using this power cord in conjunction w/ the belkin fm transmitter during a recent 4 hour car ride. when I unplugged the ipod, it was incredibly hot, and now it does not work (I get the folder w/ the exclamation point on the display). I tried to restore the ipod, but it is toast.

this item has killed my ipod twice. the first time i wasnt sure if it was just a faulty ipod so i had it replaced because it was still under apple's 1 year warrenty, but this time it is no longer covered. i am now filing a claim with belkin and they may be replacing it, but seriously, why even risk this?

i wish i never bought this.

If You are thinking of buying a Belkin Product DON'T. There products are hard to find, and you will get conflicting information from their vendors. This is what happened to me. I was told to order this product by a salesperson at Circuit City. I went to Bestbuy, Radio Shack and then Circuit City to find it. None of these stores had the product available. I was told at Circuit City that this product would solve my problem by allowing me to charge my Belkin wireless FM Receiver which I purchased for Christmas for my Daughter from Costco. The product didn't solve the problem. I still have to buy batteries for the Belkin Wireless FM Receiver. Which by the way uses quite a lot of them. After all the time I spent trying to fix this Belkin Product I purchased a Sony Product online that was cheaper, easier to get and did the job better than any Belkin Product.

I bought Belkin FM transmitter to hook it into my portable DVD player. Use the Belkin power cord to power FM transmitter instead of using conventional battery.
Power cord should be supplied with a filter to avoid a nuisance humming interference noise from car generator.

The unit worked very well for a while, but, one day, I plugged it in and the iPod just went dead. It did not register in the computer, and would not play any music. I returned the iPod to the Apple store, and they gave me a new one. But, a few months later, the exact same thing happened again! This time, however, I'm beyond the 1-year warranty, and do not think Apple will help me out again.

Beware of this product! Don't trust your expensive music player to a cheap power cord - buy a different brand and save yourself a headache.

Also, I read that if you have it plugged in and attactched to your ipod, it might mess up ur iPod, so yeah, be careful when turning on the car and what not.

This is by far the best car charger for the iPod at the best price.

I have read other reviews, which state a possible surge when the car starts if connected to the iPod so I always make sure to plug it in after I start the car. I don't believe this product is as bad as some of these reviewers say it is since I have been using it for many months now with no problem.

This is much cheaper and better than the other Belkin car charger. It has worked great, as advertised, and is especially good for long car trips when my iPod battery dies. Thus, I highly recommend this product and belive it is the best iPod car charger on the market.

The Mobile Power Cord is useful if you are going on a long trip. Not many of us go on trips longer then a few hours though so just remember that the iPod does have a 15 hour battery life (yeah right) so unless you are driving to Canada you won't need this accessory.

The charger worked fine for a week, then when plugging it in one morning it fried my IPOD. I was using the Itrip and plugged it in, then nothing. Apple said it was completely dead and i had to get a new one. I'm not sure if it was a faulty socket in the car or a faulty charger but i'm sticking to the mains charger from now on!

I have a 3G iPod and I have not lockup problems like other users said they had.
However, it does introduce some hiss sound to your music. It bothered me at first but then I just forgot about it and enjoyed my endless music traveling time. Some said this can be fixed by adding some kind of "filter" to the AC connector in your car.
I would say, it's a decent charger with a decent price tag.
Hope it helps.

The charger fits the dock connector snugly so no worry of it falling out. Be careful not to take off the "top" sticker otherwise you will not know what side to plug in the dock connector without trial and error. It does what is intended to do.

One word of advice, for those using this in conjunction with the Griffin iTrip; I notice a small amount of static with the charger plugged in while using the iTrip. It could have been just my setup but as soon as I unplugged the charger, the static went away.

This is wonderful for my 3G iPod. As a college student, my iPod is crucial. I spend a lot of time driving and previously, the battery would only last a couple of hours if I was skipping around on songs a lot. Now, I can just hook it up to the charger and go forever! It's also great because it will charge while playing--then when I'm done driving and am walking to class or working out, I still have full battery. The absolutely perfect solution, I can't see how I ever lived without this before; I get so much more use out of my iPod now!

From the first time I used this I am having problems with the ipod locking up. Everytime the hard disk starts spinning to read a song it locks up. This charger is fine for when the ipod is off, but its a hassle when it has to charge and play songs at the same time.

This is an extremely useful product for people who want to listen to their iPods in their car.
It beats having an FM transmitter if you connect a cassette adapter to the charger's audio jack, because then
1) Only 1 cable connects your iPod to the charger, and you get both power for the iPod and audio from the car speakers.
2) The iPod automatically goes into pause when your car (and its speakers) is turned off... something the FM transmitter cannot possibly do. This is perhaps the most underrated and undermentioned feature of the iPod and this charger. You no longer have to fiddle around with the iPod to stop it when you park your car.
