I have always felt confident about shopping on Amazon, however, after this purchase I will have to be alot more cautious. I was ordering the Cuisinart DGB-550BK Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker and Amazon had a 'buy these together' for this price. The item matched with the coffee maker was this filter. I am sure it is a great filter, problem is it is NOT the filter that goes to THIS coffee machine. So in my opinion Amazon tricked me into thinking this filter went with this coffee machine. I did try and see if a gold tone filter came with the machine, or the size ect, but could not find that information. I WILL be less confident shopping on Amazon then I used to be.

This coffee maker makes the best cup of coffee I've ever had. Even though we used the same type of coffee beans we've always used the taste is much smoother. This pot keeps the coffee warm for hours. Highly recommend this coffee maker.

This filter works just as well as the paper filters but you don't have the waste of throwing the paper ones away. In the current green climate this works for me. Also, it is very well made and cleans easily.

This is a nice coffee filter, a little bit more time consuming than paper filters, but works pretty good.

Works perfectly. No more bleached paper filters to toss everyday (unbleached cone style are hard to find). There is a bit of fine solids in the bottom of the pot, I can live with this as the filter lets the coffee's oils through as well making a great tasting cup of coffee. I use a burr mill grinder set for a medium grind.

Replacement is not cheap -- but it's something I use everyday - the first one lasted a couple of years so I can't complain. It's way better than those paper filters!!!

This filter works great and is an excellent replacement for the (sometimes rather messy) paper filters. IMHO, Cuisinart should include this filter as standard equipment with their coffee makers.

Just like the description says! If you need one, you probably are replacing the one that came with your Cuisinart coffee machine, so you know what you're getting.

Easy to clean out; the last one was good for about 2 years of daily-or-more use. Definitely preferable to paper.

It works okay. Paper filters filter the coffee better. This leaves a lot of dark residue in the coffee. I won't drink the last two cups because it looks like sludge!

This is a great product if you do not want to spend money on buying paper filters. It is easy to clean and easy to use, and it has a great price. I recommend it to anyone looking to stop buying paper filters.
Gold Tone is the best! - Review written on February 05, 2008

I really enjoy my new gold tone filter for my coffeemaker. It is so superior to paper filters that I will never go back to using them. THe clean up is easy to, just discard the coffee grounds down your disposal and rinse the filter under the tap. It's a keeper!

If this is anything like the original filter that came with my Cuisinart coffee maker, it will last a long, long time. I wasn't aware of how long I had had my coffee maker until I was checking the owner's manual for the filter make. The filter I am replacing is almost 9 years old. And for those that are new to using these type of filters, I gently handwash mine.

It is clear that it makes the taste of coffee better, but it doesn't filter coffee powder enoughly. I can see the powder in the pot after I brew it.

I ordered this because I got so tired of using paper filters. Also I got a new coffee maker so I wanted to change. I have to say that I love this. To be able to save a little money and the taste of the coffee is much better. Well made also. Thanks!

I have had this filter for about 2 years and have never regretted buying it. I have saved money on not having to buy paper filters and hopefully have contributed just a little to the environment. The filter is very easy to clean and is always there and ready to do its job. I can't speak for others on the subject of paper filters affecting the taste of the coffee, but personally I think they do, so the Cuisinart might have an advantage there as well. Please note that Cuisinart say this is "gold tone". That doesn't mean it is gold plated, just that it has gold colored paint on it. There are other, more expensive, filters that claim to be plated with real gold.

These should automatically come with every cuisinart coffee machine.... but they make you buy it separately! It pays for itself-- definitely worth it! sorry I didn't get this sooner-

The only filter I will use. So much better than paper that leaves a paper taste to coffee. Also good for straining & filtering sauces, oils, etc. I keep several on hand

Though I have heard that there are health benefits to using paper coffee filters, I prefer the permanent filter. It's sturdier than paper so you're less likely to spill the grounds. It's easy to clean if you have a garbage disposal. If you don't, then you might consider continuing to use a disposable filter.

On that occasion when I am out of filters this comes in handy. Actually we are so used to using filters that we put one in this. It works fine.

The Gold Tone Filter worked fine, but we decided not to use it because the paper filters we used stopped all sediments from entering the coffee. The GTF left some sediments accumulate in the coffee pot and in the bottom of our cups.

I was tired of the pack of filters on the shelf. With this gold filter, I get the same benefits for my coffee without the mess and space than the paper equivalent. Also, when removing it from coffee machine, it's easier because of the handle (vs. grabbing the wet/dirty paper filter)

When I bought the gold filter, I thought I might not continue using it since disposable is easier. Nor did I think I'd notice a difference in flavor.
I do have to say, I'm not 100% convinced but I do like it! I think my coffee tastes better, but I'm trying different coffees and different beans and different grinding times. It seems like they all seem to taste great and I feel better knowing I have the filter.
As far as cleaning it daily, it actually isn't a pain and I haven't used a disposable since. The structure is quality too!
I didn't give it a 5 because I can't swear by it, but I really do think it does make better coffee! It looks clearer when I get to the bottom of the pot and I grind my coffee very thin (not sure of the art of grinding yet!)
I would recommend trying it!

I was glad to (re)find this item, which was offered on sale with the coffee maker. It is something I had years ago, until it wore out. I recommend it for filtration: handy, easy to clean, and spares paper purchases, for filters.

So big woop, you have to clean it after every use. I have to pump gas in my car every week but I don't complain about those things. It takes 1 minute out of my life to clean the thing in the sink, and in the long run saves me about $30.00 a year on paper filters. PLUS, gold filters make the coffee taste better than standard filters. The gold actually traps certain particles that can make coffee taste metallic or bitter.

I would recommend this to anyone who gets a Cuisinart coffee maker like I did.

I purchased the Cuisinart 4 cup filter after purchasing the 4 cup coffee pot. (Thanks to one of the coffee pot reviews recommending it).
I believe it's a "must have". It's the perfect size filter, and you never have to worry about running out of filters. And if that isn't enough....it's environmentally "friendly".
save paper and (eventually) $$ - Review written on March 04, 2007

i can't say how this particular filter measures up, since it's my only permanent filter. these are a bit more work (you must rinse them every time, rather than just toss in the trash) but i think using paper filters is so wasteful of resources. also, the cost of paper filters can add up, and since this is a one-time investment it's bound to save $$.

for my coffee maker, it's a bit large (but i dont have a cuisinart, i have a weird brand, so this may not be common), and this means that the lid is propped up slightly, which menas that the coffee is not as hot as it usually is when it's done. but, not a big deal.
