Normally I dont write reviews but this product has inspired me to do so.
The pluses:
Easy to assemble, takes about 30 minutes at most if you are really slow
Faster than you would assume, the 12 mph speed is definitely plenty even for an ADULT
Can run with a 175lb adult no problem on a flat grade
Construction is reasonable durable for the price. The frame is very good but the tires/wheels are a little cheap and i could see them wearing out fairly quickly.
Low center of gravity, impossible to tip/flip, unless you are doing some kind of stunt.
The negatives:
Ground clearance is NOT a lot just a FEW inches so object in the road and quick Grade changes could cause a scrape. One of the lower parts is a drive sprocket so this could be an issue in the long term.
Steering is a little loose and requires a bit of force and the brake is very hard to pull for a child even 10-12 years old.
Unit WILL not drive with any slippery surface, my son drove on the grass in the evening and it immediately started spinning its wheel
Unit is SMALL, even my 10 year seems a bit LONG, and the driver will be sitting almost butterfly style with the legs spread. It is sized more for a 6 year old.
I agree with most reviewers this unit should NOT be for any child under 8 years old without adult supervision, my son is 6 1/2 and he had to be prompted to turn harder and slow down while i was RUNNING along side. I think any 9-10 year old could handle it though with some initial close guidance.
hope this helps.
Will fit in the back of any midsize SUV (honda pilot, explorer, etc

I got my GoKart in 2 Days and it came fine. After about a week or two the brakes broke and wouldn't work at all. We called razor, and for my opionion they had the worst service. I recommend this but if something breaks. Razor won't have that great of service that you would think

I would highly recommend this product. It was very easy to assemble, very durable & my 9 & 10 year old sons love it! (As do all the kids in the neighborhood!) This go kart steers very well, & the battery seems to last a good while before needing to be recharged.

We were so disappointed with this product. The first order was received very timely, however it was inoperable, thanks to a broken module when it arrived. Quickly replaced, only to be a disppointement on grass and surges of power on concrete. Overall.....a flop.

I just picked this up for my 8 year old boy (his birthday). It was a major hit - solid, fast and fun. This go-kart is an 8 year olds dream come true.

The only thing you really need to know is that it is low to the ground and needs to be on asphalt. I wouldn't even consider buying this if you don't live on a dead end street, a cul-de-sac or very near a park, because it is hard for cars to see. Adult supervision is a requirement if there's any chance of a car coming becuase you child will be having too much fun to pay attention to traffic.

Aside from that, the Kart is worth the price - easy to put together (took 3 minutes), much faster than the electric scooter (stand up variety) that my boy already had - it definately goes 12-15 mph. It's also very solid. If traffic is not a problem, buy this. Your child will love it (and you'll be jealous that these didn't exist when you were a kid).

This is a great toy kart for kids ! We found a vacant parking garage and my son can drive as long as he wants. It's last about one hour per charge , but, he usually tires out before that. The kart is good for training kids for future gas kart racing. Is fast enough for them to experience the fun of speed, but not too fast that they can get hurt badly. There seemd to be two types out there though. One is belt driven one is chain. I'm not sure but I think the chain driven one is better. The belt one may have been breaking too many belts so they went to a chian setup...Not sure though, the reason for the two types.

This Razor Go Kart is the perfect option to a Power Wheels ride on because it is NOT plastic and goes up to 15 mph and the re chargeable battery is excellent. This is my first one, however my friends has 2 of these that are more than a year old. They both hold a full charge and are ridden by boys 11 & 9 yrs and they have yet to tear them up! My daughter wanted a PW something and they run well over $200 and this was under two and no tax and free shipping! We scored. Both our daughters have the coolest toy around. We live in a culde sac and it works out great. I like it beause its close to the ground but has a visibility flag and they ALWAYS wear a helmet! A+++ gift

I purchased the Razor Ground Force as a Christas gift for my girlfriend's two boys, ages 7 & 9. They have been absolutely loving it, (and have named it Herbie)! It has plenty of pep and has been running for about an hour on a full charge. We're hoping that run time continues after more battery use. It's been taking around four hours to recharge the battery, which is better than the six hours predicted in the literature. I had read reviews that said the steering was stripping on earlier models. It's apparent that Razor has remedied this problem by redesigning the steering assembly. I don't think it'd be possible for the newly designed steering to strip. We have noticed that the right rear tire (on the drive wheel) has been wearing down fairly rapidly. But (and this is key) ordering replacement parts from Razor's Web siteRazor Ground Force Electric Go-Kart seems very simple and affordable. A new wheel is $16. The unit is quite compact but not particularly uncomfortable for even a ... ehem ... 40-year-old to ride. It fits easily in the back of my girlfriend's Subaru Wagon (even sideways) for convenient transport to a safe parking lot/race track. At this moment, I can highly recommend the Razor Ground Force!

I am sad to say that I am not very happy with this item. It is built well and looks nice, but it will not hold a charge for more than 15 minutes. My son was so happy to get the go-cart on Christmas morning...only to be disappointed every time he tries to take it for a ride. We have the razor pocket rocket for our older son and it is wonderful. The charge lasts a few hours - a much better buy!!!

Razor Ground Force Electric Go-Kart
I bought this for my six year old son for Christmas as his big gift. He was very disappointed Christmas morning when the battery lasted less than 10 minutes. It was put together according to the directions (there were three separate sheets of instructions for initial battery charge time, one stating 6 hrs, another 8, and the last 12 hours) We waited until we had a green light meaning fully charged. I figured it was something we did so I had my grandfather(an electrical engineer look at it) and my brother n law (auto mechanic for racecars). Both believed it to be the battery. It is being sent back today. He was excited for those 10 minutes but not worth the sad look and the fun of sending it back!
Kids too big for a jeep will love this! - Review written on December 31, 2007

My almost eight year old son was begging for Santa to bring him an electric jeep for Christmas. After hours of research I still couldn't justify buying that for a child his age due to the size and speed. I ended up buying him the Razor Electric Go-Kart instead, and it was the perfect choice. It does say 10 years old and up, but he handles it perfectly. It does have the capability of going 12 mph and needs to be used in a traffic restricted area. I also bought the matching full face helmet, which was great as well. Santa made a huge hit with this one!

Bought this go kart nearly 1 year ago for last christmas. My sons have ridden the daylights out of this go kart, really some hard use. It's held up well and continues to be a hit. A couple maintenance items are required, esp. if your kids turn hard or peel out on the go kart. The tires will wear out, but are easy to buy (ebay) and replace (if I can do it, anyone can). Also I've heard from 2 other parents that have this same go-kart that the drive chain can break, but it's also repairable. Just like a normal car, there will be some periodic upkeep particularly if your kids ride it hard like mine do. But the go kart has really exeeded my expectations and the fact that it's still flying around the cul-de-sac 1 year later now, after all the hard use, means we definitely got our moneys worth from it. Good kart, would recommend.

We purchased it for my son's birthday and charged the battery the night before his birthday so that he would be able to race on his big day. However, he was only able to use it for literally FOUR minutes before it would slow to a snail's pace. I called the Razor company to see what could be done and they thought it was the battery pack which is on backorder (other's must have this issue?!?) and it wouldn't be in stock for about 2-3 WEEKS. It was a dud of a gift. I hope that it goes well once we receive the new battery. I also hear that the tires wear REALLY fast.

I buy the Groundforce Electric Go Kart and less than 1 hour out of the box the rear axle breaks!! Unbelievable. So I call customer service. They request I fax in my UPC/proof of purchase and they will send me a new axle. Instead, they (somebody named Phil) send me two rear wheels. I call again, talk to another service rep., re-fax my documentation and after a week-and you're not going to believe this-they send me an electrical kit for for one of their scooters. So I call again. This time they are not receiving any audio on their customer service lines so I'm shouting into the phone (three times I tried) and they hang up on me after 10 seconds or so...each time! Avoid these guys like the plague. They are the worst company I have ever done or at least tried to do business with...they do not deserve your business.
Not bad but... - Review written on August 04, 2007

I think it could be better. It has the turning radius of a truck and the brakes are non-existent. We already have the Hot Wheels GT kart that goes about 7 mph but it has far superior handling and braking. I think the problem with the razor's braking is because of the small contact patches of the rear wheels.

From a standing start the Hot Wheels kart pulls away but the razor will eventually reel it in (and is much faster). For whatever reason, the torque of the Hot Wheels one is much better. I actually wanted another one of these but it looks like they're no longer manufactured. So I went with the razor.

Overall quality looks good (but then again there's not much to it). I had a problem with getting one of the bolts to align for the seat so had to do a quick hit on the frame with a drill to better align the holes. It can easily support my 140 lbs, and thus far has turned into a chase vehicle with my 4 yr old in the Hot Wheels kart.

It's overall performance and construction is much better than the all too popular Power Wheel type cars and we enjoy the looks on the neighbor's kids faces as we leave their powder puff jeeps and hummers in the dust.

So performance per dollar it's an excellent buy. I just can't help over emphasize that it'll definetly get the younger kids into trouble with it's poor controls (it really is a shame the Hot Wheels one isn't available as it can stop on a dime and it's turning radius is well within the razor).
Awesome kart, but get extra chains - Review written on July 31, 2007

I bought this for my 7 and 9 year old and they love it. It is peppy for the price and even holds the 125 lb mom with the 3 year old sister (although we are cramped). Because it is so low to the ground, we have gone through 2 chains (it comes with one extra), mainly because of a bumpy driveway. If you ride it on flat surfaces, you wouldn't have this problem. We did have to replace the $18.00 control module which wasn't too difficult for my super handy husband (a volt meter and some tools did the job). I would definitely buy this again. You can't beat the price for a go kart.

I got this Go Kart for my son's 12th birthday. It looks small. He likes it! He says, "Mom it is fast, thank you for the present!" I looked all over for a go kart for my son that wasn't too small or too big for him. It doesn't back up and makes wide turns, but he is getting use to it now. He doesn't like to wait for it to charging the battery. He rides it quite awhile before the battery goes down. His dad even rode it and he loves it too!He said"They never had something like this when I was a kid." I highly recomend this go kart!

I bought this for my 8 year old son for his birthday. He loves it and so do all the neighborhood kids. It's worth the money but I'm not expecting it to last too long without some added expenses. The tires are wearing out pretty quickly. We haven't had any problems with the battery yet. It seems to run a long time. The steering isn't great but once you get used to it, it's fine. I love that the center of gravity for this go-kart is so low and heavy. My son goes pretty fast and no wheel has ever left the ground on a turn. Overall, it's a pretty good product for the money.

My 9 year old son saved up his own money to purchase this go-kart. So far he loves it. I had a friend who purchased a different razor go-kart and they had problems charging the battery. We have not had any problems with that at all. Everything has worked great, it is sturdy, and was easy to put together. My son uses it almost every day.

We are very pleased with this product. We bought it for our 7 year old and he is having so much fun with it. It was easy to assemble and seems to be very high quality. Please note that you definitely want to supervise your child at all times. The go cart is very low to the ground so it might not be easy for cars to see it. It does come with a flag but Razor needs to make the flag much longer - say 8 ft. tall.

I bought this item 4 weeks ago for my 11 year old, and he loves it, all his friends ride it ranging from 80lbs to 125lbs and they get good speed out of it. rated at 12 mph and it seems to do that. I rode it 210lbs, and it's slower but still no problem.

it looks really small when you get it out of the box, but once you put your feet on the front rail, it's not that small. Its very low to the ground, so you have to have the flag on. but you can't turn it over, so much safer than the ATV's. i bought a second one for our 6 year old last week, and it works great again.

My son got this when he was seven and he is now nine and it is still a hit with him and his friends. An average size child can use this even when he is twelve or so. It's easy to manouvre, only thing it does not have a reverse mode but he manages manually.

Great buy, go for it for your kid. He will love you for years to come.

Bought the 1st one of these last summer. The kids fought over it the entire summer... It's fairly fast, low to the ground, VERY stable, reasonable length of operation on a single charge, even larger kids can ride on this one. Not one single injury last summer. Bought the 2nd at easter. Kids still having a blast. Very surprised that this is not sold in many stores, the performance to price ratio is VERY good.
My kids love it, but minor problems - Review written on May 12, 2007

Rating: 3 out of 5

We bought 2 for our boys. They love them, but we've had some minor problems. They both occurred within 1 to 2 days after using them. The first was a battery that does not seem to be holding its charge. He would ride it for 5 min. and the gokart would slow down and need to be recharged. The second problem was with the other gokart. On the second day, the chain (which drives the belt), broke and fell off. The company Razor was really good about sending a replacement battery and chain, however it took about 3 weeks to receive the chain which means my son was without his gokart during this time! Hopefully this is the end to our problems.

My 8 year old daughter had her heart set on buying a power wheels Escalade as she began to save her money for the purchase. As the time got closer we knew we needed to come up with something more for her age and size. When we found the Razor go cart online, we were excited to read all the reviews and how well it went over with the kids alike. Now that we have it, we are very pleased with it. We have two daughters 6 and 8 and although the 6 year old needs reminders to hold the throttle half way instead of full on, they both love to drive their go-cart. Many of the neighborhood kids come out whenever the girls take it for a spin. The Razor has a smooth ride, it is quiet, it goes as fast as we would want it to go, any faster it would be scarry, the battery does last longer than the 45 minutes stated, the turning radius is a little tight but the girls are learning to adjust their timing. To drive it in wide open spaces like a black top is the most fun for the girls or on curvy paths at the park. We are very pleased with our purchase and thinking of buying a second one but as of now it gives the girls good opportunities to share and learn to be considerate of eachother's time. My younger daughter does complain of dizziness after riding it for about an hour, but she is probably prone to motion sickness in general. We highly recommend this product for kids in this age range as well as having an adult (oh shucks) drive it with the younger kidos. Enjoy!

My kids just love this go-kart (not to mention the neighborhood kids). I love that it is low to the ground, very difficult to tip over. The turning is not the best, but it stays charged longer than the stated 45 minutes. Typically, it has power for nearly 1 1/2 hrs. Takes up very little room in the garage and is very easy to charge.I absolutely love it. F.Y.I. My kids are 9 and 7.

This is a very fun cart.
It's a hit with all of the neighborhood kids.
The only thing I would change is to improve breaking, it takes too much force, (hand strength,) to stop the vehicle effectively, even with the brake properly adjusted. I'll keep working on it.
Otherwise, it's great fun.

This was a great buy we live in a court so this was a wonderful gift for my 4 year old son he rides around in circles and loves to play with it. Not to mention all of the neighbors come out to play. The only thing i didnt like about this item was the fact that the brakes are on the steering wheel which makes it difficult to brake for my son. He has learned a way around it because if you let go of the gas trigger it will slow down pretty good not a complete stop so my son has learned to gauge the amount of room he will need before the car will stop completely. I really in all like this go kart better then the power wheels because you dont have to take the battery out to charge the car.

We ordered the items on December 12th hoping for a Christmas delivery. Upon checkout we were told that the items would most likely not be here till end of January. Since the best price (a savings of 112.00, we needed two)was through Amazon, we decided to make a cute card and tell the boys they would recieve it after Christmas. The NEXT week, both of the razor go carts were delivered to our house! We are so thrilled with Amazom and Razor. 5 +++++ Stars!!!
