Ever Reliable Memory Card for both Wii and Gamecube - Review written on May 03, 2008

I had some bad experiences with 3rd party memory card and this is the only memory card I can trust. Quick in loading and saving . Now I am using them for the Wii. Some of bigger cards I used from 3rd party manufacturers sometimes will not read and gets corrupted. This is a decent size memory. Never buy smaller size than this one as newer games require more memory.

1. Always have a back up memory for your games. (Which means you need at least 2 of these). My other smaller kid sometimes accidentally erase some of the data by being a curious cat. He wants to try out all the buttons on the controller.
2. Never touch the memory card while the Console is on.

I wish I would have purchased this Item from a store! - with shipping I only saved 2 dollars but I had to deal with a headache from the seller and from Amazon.
Neither party has attempted to correct this situation and I will no longer use either of those two parties until this situation is resolved (based on the previous reactions, or lack thereof, to my previous emails; I will no longer be using either ever again)

I purchased this memory card as part of a Nintendo Gamecube which although a little old in comparison to a DS it proved to be a blessing! This is a great product for any kid or for that matter adult.

I got this for my Wii and since I won't really be getting a whole bunch more Gamecube games, I figured I should just get the smallest one they make. It probably holds enough memory for anyone. Works great.

There's not a lot to say about a memory card. It stores your data.

Some people recommend buying generics to save a couple of bucks. The only warning I've heard is that occasionally a system won't recognise a generic. I have used genuine and generic cards for every system I own and have never had a problem. Still, you might want to go with the genuine if you're worried. After all, the price difference is pretty negligible.

If you're looking for a memory card this large made by Nintendo then keep looking. This is NOT made by Nintendo. Do not fall in the same hole I did unless this doesn't matter. They ought to be hit with false advertisement for using a pic of an actual gamecube package!!! BAIT AND SWITCH!!! Keep going!!!

[Ignore the "fun" rating, as this is not a game. Fun: N/A is not a choice.]

This is exactly what it claims to be. Nintendo's first-party memory cards are expensive (considering their small capacity) but reliable and durable. I've never had any issues with their memory cards. Cheap third-party cards, on the other hand...

In deciding whether to buy a 251-block memory card or a 1019-block memory card, consider how many Gamecube games you have (or will have in the future). Games always list the memory card blocks required (typically in to 10-50 range) on the back of their cases.

And of course, a Gamecube memory card is necessary for saving game data when playing Gamecube cames on the Wii. Just as Wii controllers are not backwards-compatible, neither is the Wii's internal memory.

Simply put, don't get a memory card for your GC unless it's Nintendo brand. How many times have I had memory cards constantly become corrupted and have files mysteriously disappear? But this has never happened with the first party brand.

There really is no other choice. Buy first party memory cards, or don't buy them at all.

I ordered the used one listed at a lower price , but while the photo shows a nintendo brand card , the one shipped is a third party.
If it was the actual nintendo brand the price would be great , as a third party product , the price is probably not quite as cheap as it seems.
It has worked well so far , so no complaint other than I expected the one in the picture.

I ordered the game for my daughter on 11/28/06 quite confident that her wish list items were bought and I could forget about it. I never recieved it and was never informed by Amazon that it was returned as undeliverable. So on Christmas day when she opened her presents, she asked where it was. I told her I ordered it and we started looking about the house as to where it was. After going on the computer to the website I then found out that it was returned and my credit card had been reimbursed. Shame on them. I will not use them again. I believe they got too big for their britches and the customers are the ones paying the price.

Well, I ordered the Gamecube w/Super Smash Bros. Melee, three controllers, and this memory card. The gamecube and controllers arrived yesterday, and still no sign of the memory card. I was pretty disappointed, since the three controllers came with the Super Saver Shipping, and I decided to pay extra for the memory card because I wanted it sooner. Now I'm regretting having had paid the extra shipping, since it would have been sent along with the controllers yesterday.

These memory cards are great! They have just the right amount of memory for me (a casual gamer). I like them because they store all of my files. In my Memory Card 251, I have about 100 files, and they all work perfectly. I have never had any problems with it in the past, and hope I never will. Since I only play Gamecube when I get tired of Xbox, I never save many games. It is my brother who uses up a majority of the space on this Memory Card. I recommend this Memory Card to anyone who doesn't have any games that take up more than sixty blocks. The price is a bit much, considering that this is a Gamecube acessory. I think that the size is a bit too small. I often lose this Memory Card in my vast amount of games, but then again, it is black, so you can find it without much trouble. Overall, this is the best Memory Card for the Gamecube.

Note: If this Memory Card doesn't have enough memory, do not get any other off-brand Memory Card. Get a larger one of the Nintendo brand.

I brought this card and then I moved my files from 59 and it worked. However, I brought Sonic Gems Collection and it was Tooooooooooooooo Smallllllllllll. That was my favorite game.
So get it if you have small data files.

P.S If you move your files and don't want that card, keep extra copies to your card so if one crashes and it deletes the game file, you can copy it. But remember to replace the file if you completed hard work. My Super Smash Bros. melee records are gone so I took the extra copy I saved, even though I didn't replace it.

there are pros and cons of this card.

PROS-
its stores a lot of memory
able to save many files at one time
compact
affordable

CONS-
games that require 256 blocks will not be able to save!
sometimes crashes.

i tried saving with nhl 06 and it said it needed more memory. if you have a game that used 256 blocks get the gameshark 16x memory card
A Pretty Good Device for the Casual Gamecube Owner - Review written on November 18, 2005

Make no mistake, this is the memory card for you if you've got a Gamecube (which I'm assuming you do, or you're planning on getting one soon).

Anyway, there are 251 blocks on this baby, which may not seem like a lot, but it is. It gets the job done, and you don't have to worry about it corrupting data or anything. I've had mine for a while and nothing has happened to the files saved on there. It's also easy to save and delete information from this thing with the simple click of a button.

Please, don't get that damn third party memory card from Madcatz, my experience with that is corrupted data, and constant reformating of the card (which erases your files anyway). Only go with Nintendo, they're the only ones who know the divine nature of their memory card.

I must say, though, this is for the casual gamer. Someone who doesn't have every game they can possibly get a hold of. Some EA games, for exammple, take up over one-hundred blocks of memory. Basically, what I'm saying is simple: If you're one who has a ton of games, you may find yourself buying more than one of these memory cards before you know it. Not every game has a save for just the game. Resident Evil, for example, saves on a different block every time. Just like a playstation memory card. If you're like me, however, you probably don't have THAT many games that it's a bother.

The other thing I must caution is simple: This thing, like every other memory card, is small as hell. This one even more so. If you can, keep it plugged in your Gamecube at all times.

The great thing about memory cards, just about everyone of them, is simple: You can take them anywhere. Does your same friend also own Super Mario Sunshine? Hey, that's great, now you can leave your copy of the game at home and take your memory card. It lightens the load.

It's essential to have a memory card if you buy a Gamecube, and this is a good one. If, however, you happen to be someone who has a TON of games, this won't hold you over long enough, and you'll have to buy another.

No Gamecube owner should be without a memory card, though.
Not Enough Memory - Review written on May 23, 2005

I have gone through two memory cards on the Gamecube in less than 4 years. The first was the memory 59, which was ridiculous, I managed to save 6 games on that one. Now the Memory 251, which I'll admit is an improvement as it is 4 times bigger. But in terms of megabytes, it's only TWO versus the Sony's industry standard of EIGHT. Nintendo's card is 4 times smaller! On the Memory 251, I have saved 3 EA Sports games. Which may sound good, but it's NOT. I've only managed to save the essential files to play the game. If I were to save all the files, I would only be able to fit one. I've also managed to save 5 other games. But now my memory card is full, and I don't want to purchase new games and a new card because of this.

Nintendo has released the Memory 1019, which is equivalent to Sony's 8MB card. But Gamecube's life cycle is near it's end. Nintendo, another case of doing too little too late.

My family bought one of the "mondo" block cards that supposedly allowed over 1000 blocks of memory to be stored for much cheaper than this 251 block version. Well, the only trouble was it kept saying it was corrupt, that it needed to be formatted, and that all of my data would be erased. Finally we gave in and went and bought one of these cards, and we have had no trouble at all.
I guess it really is true that you get what you pay for!

this is the memory card you want. if you value your games, dont buy a 3rd party memory card because from what i have heard and read, madcatz and nyko make the only other memory cards for gamecube. trust me. just look at the reviews for any other memory card than a nintendo one. he average rating is 1 star. stick with nintendo. even if you dont buy this one because you say it wont hold all oy your games, there is a 1041 memory card FROM NINTENDO at the nintendo website.
