Doesn't work with S9 Motorola Headset - Review written on January 07, 2008

Rating: 2 out of 5

This is probably not a bad device but it doesn't have A2DP capability and therefore is not able to pair with S9 Motorola bluetooth headphones. It works great with my cellphone and PDA, but I have to return it because I got it, so that I could listen to music wirelessly or talk on Skype.

Antenna - Review written on December 10, 2007

Rating: 1 out of 5

This device works very well, but it is very flimsy. I have purchased five of them and have already had two of them with broken antennas. They still seem to work ok that way, but I don't know how long they will continue to work before the internal wire breaks as well and the antenna falls off completely.

I bought it to link a wireless laptop with a blue tooth cellphone to have internet connection to go. It didnt work and messed up with my computer. i had to do system recovery to get rid of the crappy errors after that USB installation software!!very nice and good customer service, they advised me to install and update such and so, it was not helpful at all. Thanks God my computer was warranted and Thanks to the Amazon , was return without headache! I bought a cable to do the job and get rid of the software incompatibilities!! I wish it was working, I wanted to be wireless!!
Bad drivers - Review written on November 17, 2007

I tried to install this one and it simple went bust - I think I heard a kaput sound too.
XP has terrible bluetooth drivers and if you want to get the speaker profile to work, good luck. The supplied drivers claim that this works, but you will have to do go through a lot of pain to get it right - and I am no newbie to technology.

Amazon did a great job both on sending and the return for this item.
If you have MicroSoft Vista Ultimate, you should look elsewhere for a bluetooth USB adapter.
I was looking to add BlueTooth to my Durabook N15RI. I was disappointed that the Durabook does not support Bluetooth and that the Linksys adapter wouldn't work with Vista because I've been very pro-Linksys.
I was not going to rate the product since it does not work on my laptop.
But, Amazon requires a rating in order for me to post this.
Unusable with Plantronics Pulsar 590E - Review written on August 15, 2007

Rating: 1 out of 5

Although I could connect to the headset, the audio would only work for a few minutes until it went silent, where I'd then have to stop/start the Linksys adapter and reconnect. After trying to upgrade the Bluetooth software, My Bluetooth Places stopped working and the problem remained. Buy the Anycom adapter instead of Linksys. Although Anycom uses the same Bluetooth stack, installation is cleaner, range is better, and the audio is clear.

When I first bought this product it was great and worked well then after 2 weeks of use the antenna connected to the device breaks off and did not work. When I called Linksys about the problem they called it and I quote "The device must have been put under unusual conditions." They also refused to give my money back. Well in the trash it goes!

Step 1: Got it, installed the software, plugged in... nothing happened.

Step 2: Uninstalled, plugged in... nothing happened.

Called tech support. The guy on the phone was polite and knowlegeable, but he led me through the step 2 three more times before agreeing, an hour later, that I must have indeed gotten a defective gadget.

After that, it was almost a cakewalk. Amazon made no fuss about replacing the product and sent me a replacement a week later. That one worked the first time. I use it to Skype with my Jabra headset. It works fine all over the first story of my house, and even out in the backyard. The only trouble is that I keep forgetting to mail the defective one back. I can see why Amazon would require its return, and the shipping is free, but I'm about to be charged for it, which wouldn't have happened if it worked the first time.

This was easy to setup on my Windows Vista laptop, it almost installed itself. The external antenna greatly improves the range allowing it to connect to my GPS at a much greater distance than my old Bluetooth adapter.

Great bluetooth device. I purchased this to allow me to create and transfer ringtones to my T-Mobile Samsung SGH-T619 mobile phone. Not the easiest thing in the world to do since the T-Mobile software requires renaming the MP3 file to a 3GP file. Once you do that, though, it is a simple process and this device lets you do it in a snap. For T-Mobile users, download the Samsung Multimedia Manager from the Samsung website.

The Bluetooth Adapter installed easily on my Windows XP Professional system. I run it using a powered USB hub (also a Linksys). It has never dropped the signal. Many more features come with it than I have ever needed to used. Great range. Picks up my wife's cell phone upstairs as well.

I buy Linksys after having problem after problem with Netgear (routers and access points). Linksys has never let me down and their tech support has always been top notch. I see many reviews complaining about wait times. If you are looking for drive-thru speed service, you are too impatient to be doing your own setup. To quote from a very wise man (Hank Hill) "Do you want it done quick or do you want it done right." I have never had an excessive wait time on the phone with Linksys, but I have had them stay on the phone with me for over 45 minutes to make sure a problem got fixed properly. Now that is customer service!! No I do not work for them!!

Bottom line...Linksys is a quality brand and I have not bought a bad product from them yet. I also recommend them to colleagues and none of them have purchased a bad product.

Took the bait and bought a $22 Dlink Bluetooth dongle and found installing it was not straightforward and then it did not recognize my units. Linksys is probably the same parts but they make it so it works!
Costs about $49 but you get free tech suport and it is worth it.

Bought IO gear headphone, with bluetooth,.. but didnot find the range that I needed,.. This linksys bluetooth is working better than the original IO gear bluetooth...

After buying many USB bluetooth dongles and subsequently returning them to the store, this product was one of the best buys I've made. For those wondering, this item IS compatible with the new MacBook and MacBook pro line. While it only includes software/drivers for the PC, the product is truly plug n play for Mac users. Just plug it in, configure bluetooth in System Prefs on your machine and you're ready to go.

This item worked as described and I am pleased with having blue tooth on the desktop computer. The one part I did not like about this is the poor antenna design. Be careful using it and storing it as it can get broken easily.

Decent, Anycome 250 is better. - Review written on September 21, 2006

Rating: 3 out of 5

I purchased the linksys off of ebay brand new for a decent price, I also purchased the anycom 250 off of amazon. Between the two, the Anycom 250 in my opinion is def better. I have Windows XP Sp2, and neither were difficult to install. I dont understand why other people were having such problems, I had linksys up and running in less then 10 mins. I got both devices to work with Skype, which is why I bought them in the first place. What makes me fancy the Anycom 250 over the linksys is that anycom always updates the drivers for the device, has EDR, range is about the same, and its smaller. hope this helps someone decide what to get.

Tech support worse than hitting a brick wall - Review written on August 19, 2006

I recently bought one of these devices to work with a bluetooth headset. I'm a computer engineer with an MCSE+I and CCNA with 20 years of experience. It took me several hours and many retries to install the product. Hardware appears sound but the software (which is supplied by BroadComm) is terrible. Reminiscent of Windows 3.1 installs.
After the battle the with installation I noticed that the speaker (Earpiece) volume was controllable but the microphone volume remained unchanged when attempts were made to adjust it using Windows volume control. I spent a day troubleshooting it then called Linksys. I was treated rudely, hung up on, and told that bluetooth headsets were not support, when it clearly states on the box and instructions that they are supported.
I then wrote emails to Linksys tech support, and Investor relations and received several calls from managers the next day.
A technician was assigned that I was told would support me, after several phone calls and a couple of weeks he told me it worked on his computer and that was the end of it.
The experience was bad enough that I will never buy another Linksys/Cisco/Sipura device again.

Very flimsy antenna - Review written on August 08, 2006

Bad News: Just a piece of warning, the antenna is extremely flimsy and is being held on with two very small 1mm plastics. If you are going to leave it in your bag it will break.
Wrose News: Linksys Support is worse than ever _AND_ they don't provide warranty on physical damage so if the antenna does break it isn't covered.
You are better off buying a $10 junker and replacing it if it breaks.

This is the second Bluetooth USB Adaptor I've purchased and I wish I'd bought this one first! It works wonderfully well and seems to be pretty robust. I can connect my Palm Pilot Tungsten T5 to the laptop and hotsync through it. My other one wouldn't hold the hotsync configuration between boots. This one is a set and forget. I recommend it highly.

I have spent time with lynksys and Dell, both of which say they have done all they can do, (from their manuals). Because I have had to finish phone calls without without solving the problem, I call back and get conflicting oppinions...this keeps me coming back. It still is not working, they have that in common.

Although it works great, when I turn off the BT USB device, I get a blue screen caused by the 'btaudio.sys' driver. I haven't looked for a fix yet, but since I run Win XP with all the patches, it shouldn't have this issue.

Under XP SP1, the bluetooth kernal stack overflowed and corrupted my file system.

Reinstalling with XP SP2, the driver identification process was complicated for establishing a headset connection.

I returned it.

Look here for a better solution:
Anycom USB-250 Bluetooth 2.0 400ft

The drivers of the anycom device installed cleanly under XP SP2 including the headset support.
