Second Set of Dishes - Review written on October 11, 2008

We bought two sets of these Corelle dishes a few years ago. I just loved them because the color was neutral and they just don't break. We moved into a new house and we will be doing a lot more entertaining, so we bought another set. Amazon offers them for an excellent price and the size of the bowls are just perfect. They match exactly with our old ones and you cannot tell the difference.

I researched dinnerware for months (!) and decided on Corelle...and I am SO glad I did. I ordered three sets and they arrived in perfect condition, are light as a feather and stack so well I actually bought a shelf device for the cupboard and got double the space as a result. The main reason I wanted Corelle was I got fed up with burning my fingers on dishes and bowls from the microwave. This dinnerware lets the food heat up but is only hot where the food or liquids actually are, so the edges where you pick up are cool to the touch. Yes! The cups in the set are stoneware, unlike the rest of the set, but this is no problem. They match perfectly and I guess there's a reason they had to make them stoneware (they heat up great too).

I had read a couple of other reviews of this item stating that the first shipment wasn't packed well, resulting in damaged goods. That happened with my first shipment, too. I found the box on my doorstep, having been left by the carrier. When I picked it up, the broken glass could be heard and felt rolling around in the package. Amazon.com made it right though, and the second shipment was in perfect condition. The dishes go with anything, fit well into the dishwasher (one of my many complaints about the more expensive stoneware I've been using) and are very attractive. I would have given the product 5 stars, but the mugs are stoneware, made in CHINA. The same kind of mugs could be had at a "dollar store" for...well...a dollar. This is a return to Corelle for me, having used it for many years, and thinking I needed to "upgrade" to nicer dishes. No more. I'm sticking with Corelle from now on...

This wasn't exactly what I expected, and yes--the mugs are different from the other items. The bowls are a bit small--not good for soup or cereal really. But for the price, they are great. I was thankful the few times I dropped a dish and it just bounced on the floor. These are offwhite, more cream colored than pictured here.

This is one of the single best purchases I've made from Amazon. However, folks should be made aware that the mugs are stoneware and the color isn't an exact match to the dishes.

The Sandstone color is gorgeous and a very classy neutral. These dishes match anything and everything. I plan to coordinate them with my Johnson Brothers Friendly Village around the holidays and they look great together! Great, extra dishes when you have more guests than a matching pattern of dishes.

I take mine out on the deck and use them on a steel grate table. No chips to speak of. These dishes can go anywhere in the dishwasher (top or bottom rack) and no fears of hormone-emitting plastic. These dishes are made from glass and do not interfere with your food or your thyroid. They come with a nice warranty and they are Made in the USA! Yeah! I have also purchased the matching platter and larger bowls. I coordinate them with my other outdoor plates and it always mixes and matches quite well. By the way, the small salad plates that come with this are the perfect size for birthday cake and so lightweight. They are my go-to birthday cake plates.

One last thing is that these take up no room in your cupboard. They stack up perfectly! You will love these dishes!

After much deliberation and research, my wife and I decided to purchase a set of Corelle Sandstone dinnerware. We love how easily these light weight and thin plates and bowls store in our cupboards. Additionally, we like how the plates don't get hot in the microwave. They also fit very nicely in the dishwasher and clean easily.

Okay. I ordered these because we had had a number of illnesses the past couple of years ... and this year we felt like we were always sick (and with serious stuff like Flu as well). So, I am into sanitizing the dishes with high heat. I also felt that any of our older dishes might have worn glaze, and wasn't sure high heat would (one) break them, and (two) might not be penetrating enough if the glaze were worn in places.

So, on a doctor's advice, I looked for glass dishes. I saw these dishes in person at a store (higher priced), and loved the color! They are the same color as some Mikasa blanks (fine china that never had a pattern applied) I have as my fine china set. That impressed me. Anyhow, I ordered 12 place settings from here .. and they are gorgeous! They set a beautiful table. They take the high heat of our dishwasher's santitize feature quite well (I've had glass and dishes break from high heat before, so this impressed me). I did get rid of the mugs, as I am buying some glass ones made by Libby at a store nearby. But, they look really nice, and would make anyone happy on the table I think. They seem nice feeling holding them, have a good weight, etc.

Oh, and stacking the dishes is amazing! I think I could easily fit in another 12 place settings easily on top of the 12 I have in our cupboards ... and these are old cupboards with not a lot of room in them.

I highly recommend these dishes to anyone looking for something durable, that can take the high heat of sanitizing, and look great on a table, stack easily away, and are light weight to handle.

These Corelle dishes are good every day dishes...lightweight and easy to clean. They do not have the 'sheen' that they have in the picture, but are still pretty enough. My only complaint is with the shipping. Amazon did not pack them properly (no top or bottom cushioning) so the first two sets came already broken, so I refused delivery both times. However, amazingly they came all in one piece the third time, even though they were packed exactly the same as the first two. Also, the coffee mugs are NOT Corellewear, they are stonewear, and probably more easily broken, so you have to be extra careful with them. If you are looking for a good every day set of dishes, these make a nice set.

Corelle Livingware has earned this name over the years. I remember growing up with my mother singing it's praise and her not even batting an eye when I drop a peice while learning to wash dishes! It literally bounced on the floor and the one time I did manage to break one, it was so easy to replace. Mom still has and uses her first set and someday she will leave it for me. That's why I chose the 'Sandstone' set it will complment her set nicely when they are combined! We both use our 'Corelle Livingware' for everyday use and it is also very nice for entertaining!

I love the fact that this has a 3 year warranty if any of the pieces break. My 5 year has dropped a couple of them already and they didn't break. Also, when 1 of the plates came shattered, they exchanges without any problems. The plates get extremly hot in the microwave.

Lovely dish set. No one needs to know - or will guess how little you paid.

I wish the mugs had bases just as wide as the rims (the base is just slightly narrower)- which makes me a tad hesistant with the coffee placed right next to the computer (tipping risk just a smidge higher) but that's my only miff with the product.

The color is very true "international foods vanilla coffee creamer" color - really, go make coffee and add some creamer - there ya go. Warmer than the photo, but not darker. Perfect.

Although dinner plates are very very large and the salad plates are very very small(for me) being more like snack plates - I am happy with this purchase however. Very.

I had always wanted a set of Corelle dishes, but they were always too pricey for me. However, since my family started doing "zero waste" parties, etc., I needed to get some dishes which were lightweight, easy to clean and could stack easily in the dishwasher and the cupboard. No more paper plates or plastic for us! I purchased five sets of these dishes as the price was the best I'd ever seen. I LOVE them. I really, really, love them. I have a full set of 20 dinner plates, bowls, and small plates stacked in a very tiny space. They clean up sooo easily, plus I can run the dishwasher less since I can fit in so much more. Not only that, the dishes are quite simple and elegant. I was also very pleased with Amazon, because when two of the sets came damaged, they sent out two replacement sets very quickly and with no hassle. This is the first review I've ever written on Amazon despite being a years-long Amazon consumer. But, hey, that's how much I love those dishes!

This is a basic corelle dish set in a nice neutral tone. I bought two sets of them and am happy with how light weight they are and how neutral they are. There are small imperfections, the plates are not perfect, and when they are stacked you can see they are a little out of round with each other. The mugs in my sets are slightly different in color (a little lighter) from the rest of the dishes. The mug size is great, large enough but not too large and were one of the reasons for buying the set. So many dish sets have small 8 oz mugs that are pointless. The dishes store very well, nice and compact. I was happy to find something so low in price that meets my needs.

Having had some really heavy every day dishes for several years, we decided to purchase some dishes that were easier to lift from dishwasher to cabinet. (I've had a shoulder injury.) Not only are these dishes nice and light, but they stack in a much smaller space than the heavier dishes did, allowing me to move shelves in the cabinet down to make reaching other dishes more easily.

They are good looking and their neutral color goes with everything.

If you do have these extra pieces please let me know so I can order them, but when I check it out I have never been able to find them, I do so want to complete the set. PLEASE HELP ME FIND THESE PIECES>> Thank You, Mrs.Tapie
Great product, questionable packaging - Review written on January 21, 2007

I'm quite surprised that Amazon sells such heavy products for such good prices. Corelles are all very nice but this one (or any of the whites) are particularly good for everyday use - cheap and unobtrusive. They're far superior to porcelain or stoneware because they're lighter, less breakable, microwave/oven safe and highly stackable.

However, one of the plates arrived broken in my shipment. Given Amazon's high standard of packaging and the "unbreakable" reputation of the Corelle line, this suggests poor packaging by Corning. Return was not a problem, but just be aware that this can be a problem.

Arrived in good condition and was pleased with product.
However, was not as pleased with delivery service. DSL dropped package off package at my daughter-in-law's place of business because she (the driver) was pressed for time. Her business is 15 miles from where I live and this is not the thing to do especially in the Christmas Season

This set was exactly what I was looking for. Amazon had it for the best price around.

There was a small chip on one of the dishes when it arrived so it shows these dishes are not indestructible, but pretty darn close. Since these will be used in our RV, their toughness and light weight make them perfect for the job.

Ordered several sets for everyday use and for casual dinner parties. They are a nice color, plain and simple with no designs. This does a nice job in the presentation and detail of the meal. Like the coffee cups especially, they are perfect for the coffee lover who loves to chat after dinner. Not To Big/Not To Small! Everything fits well in the dishwasher. Great set of dishes. Won't go wrong with this set.

I was trying to find some plates that would be light enough for my kids to get out of the cupboard and if they dropped one it wouldnt break. These are perfect. And they look dressy enough that they can be used on any occassion. I love them. And the best part was that they arrived the very next day. Thanks Amazon, I will definitely shop here again!!!!!!!!! My husband bought two sets of these the other day and I love them! With kids and ceramic tile, I've been stuck with melamine for more than 10 years. These are simple and classy and have a great mug. The color is beautiful and will go with any tablecloth or silverware I decide to put with it. The color may be the inspiration for new tile on the countertop. I've already bid on and won the serving platter and serving bowls. I'm waiting to see if I win 8 pasta/salad bowls and am considering bidding on a creamer and sugar and a butter dish. Can you tell I'm sold?

I just received the sets I ordered and am more than pleased. From the picture, I expected them to be a slightly darker shade of beige, but am happy to report the color matches the background color of many other Corelle patterns... not quite white, not quite beige. The solid color is elegant and neutral -- the better to show off culinary delights, or perhaps a beautiful tablecloth or centerpiece.

After half a century of living, the little things mean a lot to me. I appreciate Corelle's durability, reasonable price, ease of cleaning and forgiving properties. It also stacks nicely in a minimum of space, unlike heavy stoneware pieces. If a piece does eventually get broken it's not a big deal.... after all, I've never had a piece break during the first four or five years of use and I'm the Queen of Klutziness. I've found Corelle dinnerware to be very lightweight (a plus for those of us with arthritis) and forgiving (a plus for those of us who are dexterity-challenged) and extremely durable (a real plus during the "hurricane hour" before work and school, or when the kids gather at our house for a snack). I can stack three sets (12 place settings) in a minimum of cabinet space, and it's a breeze to load them in the dishwasher because they are very lightweight. I really like the mugs that come with this set, as they are heavier and the coffee stays hot longer than with some mugs. I have noticed in the past that the Corelle mugs have outlasted every other mug we purchased.

I did consider buying chinaware this time around.... for about a minute. I have seen so many "fine china" (partial) sets over the years -- usually covered with scratches and stains, sporting chips, nicks and flea bites. I suppose someone felt they couldn't throw them away because they were so expensive and "valuable." It amazes me that some people would spend up to several hundred dollars for china dinnerware... in fact, up to several hundered dollars per place setting. Yes, way.

Luxury comes in degrees, and is all relative. To most people in this world, Corelle dinnerware would likely seem quite luxurious, and I feel blessed to be able to afford it, and I'm thankful for the freedom and value it provides me, and the cleanup time it saves me every day, 365 days a year.

Corelle is very practical, everyday dishes that take a lot of abuse. I have once-clear (French) glass dishes that are now scratched and really not attractive. Corelle doesn't show any scratches, doesn't nick and doesn't stain. And they're microwavable and oven-to-table (if less than 400 degrees).

The only negatives, other than the brand, are they tend to be thin and have uniform thickness -- don't look nor feel like fine ceramic tableware. At least this set has an inoffensive pattern.
