I wish you could have all been at his concert in August this summer, it was truly amazing. I was not only there on the best night Aug 3rd (the last) but I was also about 10 feet from the end of the extended platform/part (?) of the stage, where he spent most of the night.
How many people manage to sell out a concert for 3 days straight to 125,000+ fans? and even more were wanting tickets.
He's truly an amazing performer, his CD's do not always do him justice but part of that is due to the record label, no?
Anyway, enjoy his music, he is an awesome artist.

Being one of the 125,000 people at the 08/02/03 gig at knebworth i have to say i'm really dissapointed on this album 'cause i was actually waiting to hear the entire concert and remmember being there, it gave me the chills just to heard it but i know it could have been better, i was waiting for a 2 disc with the entire concert or from the 3 days best selection. I wanted to hear the mini Take That reuinio with Mark Owen wich was on the last concert, i was hoping to relive what that saturday in august made me feel and to be able to have it forever now the only thing i have are the memories and the hope of the DVD is better, and as he well said it that day after being hangin' from the celling upside down "For the next 2 hours your arse is mine" So the only question is what happen' there!

Like most of the US fans of Robbie, I bought this CD as an import (luckily at a good price), and was expecting a really great album...especially after learning that this album was taking the place of a supposed greatest hits that would fill Robbie's annual Christmas gift to fans. Lately he is the undisputed king of Christmas. So hopes were high for this live CD...I even squealed when my little package arrived!

Well, he could've at least made this a live greatest hits. As it is, there are too many songs on this CD that I could care less about....such as a dreadful version of "We Will Rock You" and a rousing, but interesting take on "Hot Fudge" (a song that most American fans will only know if they bought the import version of "Escapology") just to name a few. Heck, even the audience doesn't know "Hot Fudge" well enough to sing along when Robbie tries to goad them on!

I also could've done without "Me and My Monkey," one of the dopiest songs Robbie's EVER done. It's seven minutes I would rather spend listening to two of Robbie's other, better songs.

Where is "Millenium"? "Rock DJ"? "Strong?" I know this tour was to promote "Escapology," but I know he performed more of his hits than what is represented on this disc. The set lists were printed in all the papers afterward and many of the missing songs were performed, so why not included on teh disc? This should easily have been a 2-CD set!

And above all else...WHERE IS THE DUET WITH MARK OWENS ON "BACK FOR GOOD" that the two did on the last night of this tour>!?! That alone would've made this worth the purchase. It again proves that the record company has no idea how to market Robbie and have gotten lucky that the fans have embraced him despite it (the record company's lack of promotional ability is much of the blame in RW's failure to crack the US market despite being one of the greatest performers around right now).

I have better live versions of the good songs on this disc ("Angels", "Better Man," "Let Me Entertain You," Etc.) from b-sides I've collected rather than the ones on this disc.

I agree with the statement made by a poster here that the album is too produced. That will be very obvious once the DVD comes out. I have seen Robbie live many times and he is much more verbal than the occaisional "COME ON" that he shouts throughout this CD. I know this was culled from three performances, but to paraphrase this disc, COME ON...Robbie and his label can do better.

This could've been a great album, but instead smacks of EMI trying to make a quick buck off Robbie's loyal fans. A move that is obviously backfiring considering it's one of Robbie's poorest selling discs to date.

For a man who is brillant on stage, this album is so bad and doesnt capture his magic, perhaps EMI wanted some qucik money, they should of thought twice. His voice sounds like it was dubbed in, the crowd doesnt sound like a live crowd, its all very strange.

Live albums are really for fans, but I think most fans wont like
this effort, perhaps on his next tour he cant release another live album that will show people the real Robbie in concert.

I normally Love live cds, so when I bought this, I was so hopefull it would catch Robbie's talent as a live performer,
it didn't. Sure its got all his hits, but Live albums are suppose to recapture the feeling you get from going to a concert. Like Garth Brooks's Double Live did so well in 1998.

Way to much studio work was done on this album from Robbie,If
the idea was to make a perfect album well it failed because live
concerts arent suppose to be perfect.

The only highlight of this album was Let me entertain you, which
he does in concerts but not on this album.

Don't be concerned over so-called missing tracks: they will be on the Knebworth dvd. If you were lucky enough to his show on his website then you will really appreciate the cd, if not the Nov 03 dvd release will blow your socks off.

He played the best UK concert for years, not just his best but the country's best.

Am counting the days for the dvd to come out and in the meantime this cd is blasting out of our house.

Go on Robbie.

If anyone EVER had a doubt about Robbie Williams' talent this album will put an end to any of it. This is the masterpiece of a true showman. Musically speaking is rich. He has a great band including a brass section who I bet is the envy of many live acts. His songs trully express who he is: just someone trying to discover who he is. Trying to get his life together. Feel is the best example of it. The way the audience joins him is incredible.

Jus give it a try. You wont regret it!!!

The first thing I noticed about this cd is the tracklisting. Great songs like "Millenium" , "Old Before I die" , "Rock DJ" , "Supreme" , "The road to mandalay" , "Eternity" , are NOT here. These missing songs are past singles which I do not understand why they are not in his "First Live cd".

Ok, I was expecting a lot from this cd, but the good stuff that robbie usually provides its not there. The songs sound like if he is trying to play Rock (like oasis). Even the ballads have this kinda "rock" feeling to it. Too much electric guitar, crowd is really loud (annoying), very heavy drums and NO Orchestral arrangements which usually contribute a lot to Robbie's music.

One example I can use is "We will rock you". Robbie's voice sounds out of place and he keeps on talking to the audience for no reason at all. In other songs electrical guitars and keyboards try to cover the orchestral arrangements of songs like "Angels" or "Mr Bojangles" and it doesn't work either. Can you imagine "Angels" without the string section? Its plain bad... If Robbie played for 375,000 people, I dont know why he wasn't able to get at least a 12 string section for the orchestral arrangements. Even Oasis got a little orchestra during their famous 1996 concerts at Knebworth.

I have seen a couple of live shows of Robbie on tv and easily they are way better than the quality of this recording. There is a live version of Angels as a b-side, this version was recorded at Slane Castle 2001, this version has the string section and it is truly amazing, I wish robbie had released a live cd from that concert instead of Knebworth.

Instead of spending your money on this, you should rather wait for the DVD of this concert which hopefully will come to America soon. Otherwise dont spend your money on a cd that has no singles on it, and NO strings on it (i.e. Angels without strings, give me a break!).

Decent Music... Annoying Stage Banter - Review written on October 07, 2003

This is a pretty solid album as far as live recordings go. The song arrangements/performances are no frills & fairly straight up. That's not the rave of the century, I know, but it ain't bad either. Musically, this album delivers & you get pretty much what you expect- including that random abbrevitated/intro version of "We Will Rock You."

The problem with this album lies inbetween songs in the heavily padded- & extremely irritating- stage banter. Robbie starts off by telling the crowd how impressed he is (the sheer size of the crowd at these shows were notably record-breaking). He then goes into how proud & humbled he is to be playing to all the people; how this is the pinacle of his career; how he promises to be the world's greatest entertainer; etc, etc. This continues pretty much inbetween EVERY SONG! Then it begins working its way into the songs. He eventually starts to substitute lyrics for tripe like "I love you, England!" "Knebworth, you look f**king amazing!" And so on & so on. Alright, WE GET IT! I enjoy stage banter on live albums, but not like the extent on this album. Each bit of "dialogue" is like 1-2 minutes too. Totally excessive. The worst being the point at which he asks the crowd to cheer after he says "alcohol," & boo after he says "drugs." What the hell is that about?!

Overall this is a good live album, but take out the stage talk & you'd have a better album. Only recommended to serious fans who can stomach Robbie's persona & over-stuffed ego.
