Better than Buble's "It's Time" CD - Review written on May 20, 2005

In contrast to what Mr. Buble may think of this album. I prefer the melodic and less forced vocals on this selection of songs. It's true that the accompaniment of a few songs on this album are rather lacking, but this is also occasionally true on his most recent album. In my opinion, Mr. Buble resembles a lesser vocalist when he attempts to sound modern in an overly brash manner. Thankfully, this emerging element of Buble is not evident on this particular "album." Don't get me wrong, I do like some of Buble's most recent work, but it seems that the the new selections mixed in with the standards are never destined to become "new standards", and a few songs do beg to be rewritten, capicse?
Sinatra more often than not judiciously picked quality songs and had the vocal gear to cut the tracks. Every aspiring great singing talent will have a good batting average when it comes to his or her ability to implement this basic formula. It could be assumed I'm over forty from the chatter here, so let me give an assurance that I'm under thirty, over twenty-five, and near twenty-seven, just for the record.

Boring, camp, faux, pusillanimous, poncy, dull, unintelligent, predictable and foolish.
... and these are the good things I can say about this unrelentingly dull album from the world famous karaoke singer, milksop and Rat-Pack wannabe, Michael "Bubbles" Bublé. I have read that he didn't want this album released. I have to agree. The tapes should have been left out in the sun - preferably in the Sahara desert, many kilometres from civilisation.
Oh how bad this terrible album is!
"You can fool some of the people some of the time....."
Obviously, Bubbles' career is doing well thanks to the fact that you can fool a lot of people.
A Man in Control, Totally Buble' - Review written on February 19, 2005
Rating: 5 out of 5
Most music lovers like to hear their favorite artists do songs that are familiar to them. I do, and I know a lot of others that do also. I love to hear Michael sing the standards they are evergreen to me and his interpretation of them are great. Some artist venture off into areas that their fans are unfamiliar with such is the case with the CD in review here. I understand Michael did not want it released, and the sound quality (which is why it is probably enhanced) is okay. For a vocalist to grow he or she has to try other areas of song. Totally Buble' I believe would have been Michael's first CD and this reviewer opinion is that it would have been great. These songs are far from being standards in the sense that they have been around for a while, they are reminiscent of the songs from the middle to late 40's into the early 50's. This CD gives the music lover a chance to hear Michael sing songs they are not familiar with and to show them he can sell them without the familiarity of standards. In other words this CD allows him to break with the past even if they sound like they are from the past. There is some great stuff on this CD if you will just give it a listen. I bought it along with his newest CD It's Time, I was apprehensive about buying it but played it first in my truck's CD player. I was sold, and he was selling the songs. If a singer is stuck in standards he or she will never grow as an artist. This CD was daring for that point maybe it was a good thing that Michael did not have control over it's release. The material was good, the voice great, I think this CD is a great chapter to a great singer's resume'. The thing about standards are that they were once new songs also. If you ever got or get the chance to hear some of the original recordings ot the standards of Gershwin, Porter, Berlin, Arlen, etc. You would wonder how these songs ever made it. There is magic in them as there is magic in Totally Buble'. I disagree with Michael these are a great chapter to your resume.

I admire his voice, talents of music, looks, etc. and i'm also one of his fans, but watching and listening to this album it was just sad. beside CD,he also released the DVD version for this album. In early of 2003, his name had started to be known around the world. after listening his "MICHAEL BUBLE" album, I was so anxious to see his live performance on dvd. so, I thought this album was the live concert of "MICHAEL BUBLE"album on DVD. I still remember, it was a cold night in downtown Toronto,Canada. I stopped by at HMV store to look for Buble's live concert dvd, and when i asked the cust.serv they showed me this "Totally Buble" dvd album, and without asking further questions i directly went to the cashier. soon i got home, i played this "Totally Buble" dvd and I WAS REALLY SHOCKED, THIS "TOTALLY BUBLE or BLUE" DVD is more into music videos instead of his live concert performance. although, this is more into music video, i still can't enjoy most of his songs in this album and the songs were all unrecognizable. so,for those of you want to buy his "totally buble" dvd or cd album, you may want to think twice before you buy it......THIS "TOTALLY BUBLE" ALBUM IS "TOTALLY BLUE"ALBUM

I was hugely disapointed with this CD. I later learned this had been released from much earlier recordings for a movie without Mr. Buble's agreement.
The songs are inferior, without any of the rich orchestrations one would expect to go along with such a beautiful voice and great talent.

First, the reviewer named lisha23 wrote: "The renditions of these standards are sincere..." To lisha23: THESE SONGS ARE NOT 'STANDARDS'. These songs were written for the movie "Totally Blonde" in 2001. These songs happen to be written in the STYLE of Frank Sinatra type swing of the 1950s. Some of it is very 50s and a lot of it is silly. However, Buble proves he is a superior performer and a vocalist who can be favorably compared to the greats like Sinatra. IF you like swing, if you like the kind of 1950s music that rarely gets its due, if you like the crooners like Frank, Tony, Vic Damone, Perry Como and Mel Torne, You will like this CD. Michael Buble simply blows Harry Connick out of the water.
DO NOT BUY!!! - Review written on December 30, 2003

I bought this CD because I am interested in ALL things Buble. His voice, as always, is wonderful. But the songs? Awful. The arrangements? Awful. The production? Awful. Not a single song on this CD is memorable.
I chalked it up to 'growing pains' as Michael developed his career, but then I heard his OLD OLD OLD stuff(when he was just starting out and he recorded his own stuff independently), and it is fabulous! So, this particular CD is a fluke, a real REAL DUD. Pass it by. The fact that it is so poor in quality made sense once I found out that this album was a compilation of songs/performances from a movie he made years ago. This was NOT an album he recorded in the studio for release - he was playing a part in a movie, singing the songs required for the movie part. So, it's really the movie soundtrack, using the popularity of his name to sell a few CDs and make a few bucks.
Do NOT fall victim to this compilation of poor music. Buy his debut album, buy his Xmas songs, or wait for his next album - but DO NOT BUY THIS ALBUM!

Although this CD is Michael Buble who does have a great voice, and shows to be a big star some day, he DID NOT wish to have this CD released! This is what he had to say about it himself:
"Totally Buble" is not an album that I wanted to be released. They were songs I recorded for a film called "Totally Blonde" many years ago before I was signed to 143/Reprise Records. The decision to release it as an album was made by the film's producer, and I had no control over stopping him.
It is important for everyone to know, that I only want to release quality music to my fans by offering my best work and I sincerely apologize if you purchased this album." - Michael Buble
But, if you are a fan of him and enjoy whatever he puts out there, it would be a good one to add to your collection.
