It's true these really are good! - Review written on November 12, 2008

I've had these for over 20 years now. Bought them when I was working a compactor, and continue to use them for everything. They are very comfortable, block the noise, and have held up really well. If I don't loose them, they will probably be good for another 20 years.

Kind of bulky for running around behind the mower, but not bad. Comfy, can wear for long periods of time, pretty good noise protection. Very hot, but that's to be expected. NOTE these are not noise canceling!! Noise canceling implies a different type of technology that is not used with these earmuffs.

I have used several different brands and types of noise reducing products for my carpentry and lawncare hobbies, but by far, the Peltro H10A Professional Noise Canceling Earmuff blocks the most noise and are the most comfortable to wear. I highly recommend this product.
They work great, but they're HUGE - Review written on October 09, 2008

If you're going to be doing work with loud equipment, these are great. They block out a lot of sound. But, they are much bigger on your head than they look in the picture, so you do look a little silly wearing them.

At first, they were too tight on my head, but I put them on a cardboard box for a few days to strech them out, and now I can wear them for hours without discomfort. I'm usually quite senstive to having my head squished by headphones, so I'm glad that they stretched out eventually.

They can also be combined with earbuds for very isolated music listening. I do that when using loud equipment. Just don't turn the music up too load, or you won't here anything outside at all, which could be unsafe.

I have run an airboat in the Everglades for 5 years and have the Peltor for passengers to use. As a matter of fact all the boats owned by the company I work for use them. They are tough and work well in the worst of conditions, the abuse of people on vacation! They work so well I have customized a pair with speakers and hook them up to the VHF radio. Very comfortable even in the heat!

Am I glad I got these ear muffs or what! I work in San Diego and nearby is an airforce base. Continuously during the day, helicopters and jet planes fly overhead. Added to that, my annoying co-worker stretches and yawns, pops sunflower seeds into his mouth and makes weird chewing noises and is responsible for miscellaneous sounds. I did try the Bose sound canceling headphones once, but they gave me headaches. These earmuffs worked just as other reviewers raved about. An added bonus was that the keyboard noises were also reduced significantly. For the price, these things should be mandatory in most offices with shared cubicles!
Not noise cancelling - noise reducing. Amazon has mislabeled this product. - Review written on September 19, 2008

That is not just a symantic difference. Noise cancelling implies active circuitry to detect specific frequencies and emit an inverse signal to counteract them. These are not even labeled as noise cancelling on the box but as noise reducing. That means that the noise reduction is completely passive. Amazon has mislabeled this product and it was not what I expected. They are, however, very good noise reducing earmuffs. A bit bulky, though.

I have bought several of these earmuffs and they are the best I have ever used. I use them for lawn mowing, chain sawing, target shooting, air nailing, sawzalling, as well as many other loud activities. They are super comfy and soft on your ears and when I mow for hours on end I have my ear buds in the wrong ears and upside down while listening to music and they are still comfortable. The only bad thing is when one of your dogs eats a pair (sad).

not useful for filtering out human voices - Review written on September 11, 2008

I bought this product because I sometimes want to concentrate on my work in the lab but there are other people chatting loud. However I found this earmuff not an idea product for this purpose. I guess it works to filter out most of the high frequency noises (background noises from cars, machines and other things) but didn't do well in the range of human talking--it only decreases the volumn. Effectively this is making the human voice even more obvious since now the background sound is lowered. It may still be good if you want to filter out machine noise in working conditions, which I didn't test.

I bought two of these so I could hang one by my table saw and one by my lathe. That way I'm not always across the room from them. These are more comfortable then my previous pair. With my 1 1/2hp dust collector running right next to me and the router table going I can really tell the db reduction. I'd buy these again.

Very satisfied with the purchase of myPeltor Professional Noise Canceling Earmuff #H10A #H10A noise canceling earmuffs. Had an older pair from same manufacturer that served me well. The new muffs are somewhat different in appearance and design, much better, more comfort while wearing. The price was right and the appearance is styling! Thanks, Ed

These earmuffs are a great purchase. They do an excellent job blocking out sound, they're adjustable to your head size, and they are comfortable to wear. In a perfect world, they would be a little easier to adjust, but I would still highly recommend them for the aforementioned reasons.

This particular product, the Peltor 10A Noise Canceling Earmuff is the best around. I have needed something to help me concentrate at work -- and at home when I work in my office -- and even reading the newspaper -- and I use this all the time. At the office, I work in a semi-enclosed area (or cubicle) so clients and customers don't see me wearing these, and that works fine. In fact it works so well, I have purchased some 15 - 20 of these Peltor's for co-workers (they all reimburse me promptly) -- because this product works -- and the price is certainly very low. And management at work is happy because more work is getting done.

Also, I have purchased a Peltor for the son of a good friend of mine -- as he returns to college -- to help him concentrate better in his dorm room. I'm sure it will.

Thank you for your attention.

Does the job at the rocket site - Review written on August 06, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

We use this Peltor earmuff set almost exclusively at XCOR Aerospace. We make rocket engines and the things that use rocket engines. We test our engines frequently. We have tried about twenty different styles and manufacturers of ear protection gear and except for some unique applications (headset with face shield) these are the best. Even when we're 20 feet from a running 1,500 lb-thrust LOX-kerosene engine. These earmuffs are also easy to repair and clean. After nine years of hard use, they still do an excellent job.

Except that red is my least favorite color, this headset is ideal for me. Quite comfortable and the headband part is metal and cushioned a little. It adjusts for added comfort. My last two headsets (different brand) broke in the headband part while I was taking them off/putting them on because it was made of a fairly stiff plastic. I'm very glad I found this brand.

I found these to be very comfortable for extended wear, mowing, working with power tools, etc. I particularly like the metal reinforced headpiece, the previous earmuffs I had (2) were made with plastic headpieces and both broke apart when putting them on. Noise reduction is excellent even when using a rather loud hand held router.

Well, I guess you wouldn't win any fashion shows with these (and my 14 year old son refuses to wear them when he mows) but after wearing them for a week I wonder why I didn't get these years ago. To think of all the time I've spent using chain saws, trimmers, blowers, and mowers and not using any ear protection (I'm 60), well, that was just plain dumb. Get a pair of these. Yeah, your ears might sweat a little bit when you use these on hot days but whats a little sweat when you can preserve your hearing.

This is a durable product at a discount price u wont find at the local Wally World. I use my Peltor earmuffs constantly and they do a fine job of cutting down the HUGE db of noise produced by a variety of daily noise producers such as chop saws, chainsaws, weed eaters, lawn tractor, dog barks and wife hollas. ;) Opps i digress !

Easy to clean which for me living in the South is a must because nothing quite like putting on a filthy, sweaty, smelly thing on my ears yanno? This is easily avoidable with a quick cloth/paper towel rub down after use.

It is what it is a fine piece of basically plastic earmuffs nothing more and "noise canceling" is a bit of an exaggeration. No this product is more like noise "softening" But that is a good thing :) very good indeed.

I'm noise-sensitive and I got a pair of these Peltor H10A earmuffs to cope with a noisy office. This model is Peltor's top model, from what I can tell.

I love them. The average background noise is completely gone.

I can still hear loud talking when it's close by, but it's reduced to only a faint muffled sound. My high-pitched phone ringing at my desk comes right through, which for me is a good thing so I won't miss calls. They probably do get uncomfortably tight after long periods so I might not wear them all day long (I just got them today.)

Yes, I'm sure they look dorky but for me it's a small price to pay for sanity.
