I got burned by buying a knock-off - Review written on May 31, 2007

The Samsung ML-1740 has been a superb printer that had never even had a paper jam *until* I foolishly tried to save some money and switched to a no-name "compatible" toner cartridge. The first one was OK, but I had several paper jams, and the second one has destroyed my printer. It now makes a horrible knocking sound every time the rollers are moving.
I would switch back to a Samsung cartridge, but at this point, I don't know if the printer would work, so I am going to buy a new printer. I will certainly buy another Samsung, and I will certainly stick with the manufacturer's own toner.

Samsung toner drum works as it should... only 4 stars due to the price but Amazon has the lowest.
I certainly recommend the original and not a knock off brand or drum ink filler mechanisms...

Print is always sharp and clear without ever leaving smudges or random marks on paper. Out-performs all others I have tried thus far.
Always use ONLY original replacement parts! - Review written on January 03, 2007

To save money, I have foolishly attempted in the past to use both "remanufactured" and "generic" replacement cartridges for this and other printers--only to find that the toner/ink leaks or the printing results are terrible. There's only one way to go with printers, and that's with the manufacturer's own replacement cartridges--period. This one works just fine.

What is there to say? This toner drum fits the printer. It's the only one that does. The printer doesn't work without it. Ergo, you need it if you have the printer. I will say, however, that Amazon had the best price of anywhere I went. That has to count for something!
expensive, but .... - Review written on August 14, 2006

This toner cartridge is expensive. But, you can buy toner (the black powder) in the secondary market, and refill. The refilling is done by flipping open a round cap on the side. This gives good result upto 3 refillings. On the 4th filling I found problems like a dark line on one side. It looks like the drum gets bad and it picks up extra black powder , here and there, and you get light black blotches.Of course, they say you null the warantee.
Too expensive, not enough prints - Review written on December 10, 2005

This printer/toner is fine, but for the price of the toner, you don't get nearly enough print jobs to make it very economical. I've had this printer for a little over 2 years, and I'm on my 4th toner. I'm a student, so I definitely do a fair amount of printing at home, but my estimate is that this toner only gives me approximately 1500 pages. And that's with every level of tonersave on. So every 7 or 8 months, I'm dishing out another $80 to get more toner.
Seems to be working fine so far. - Review written on September 11, 2005

It was relatively easy to replace the starter cartridge with this one, and I've had no problem using it so far. Granted, I've only had occassion to print 20 pages or so so far, but I'm happy. Knock on wood.
A bit expensive, though. Cost almost as much as the printer itself.

Good quality and easy to install like the other Samsung toner series, but it's a little too expensive! Hope that they would lower the price. I only had one choice because it's the only toner for my printer.
