I purchased (2) of these quality Cuisinart items! I was astounded!! Fantastic Price,I could not believe that I have the exact product as all the major household department stores, the only difference is that I saved a great amount of money & I only paid $27.99 at Amazon! Free Shipping too! Everything arrived great! no damages, absolutely beautiful, this is incredible...
I preferred this style because the Cuisinart Al-Clad weights so much, a 1 quart pan will weight about 2 1/2 pounds, that is a product in my opinion that is great for "Industrial" Culinary Arena Cookware, On the other hand the Cuisinart Chef's Classic is suitable for all around daily cooking & it is lighter weight than the Cuisinart All-Clad, & is a professional cookware, which is great & a convenience, personally I do not recommend the Al-Clad Cuisinart & all major "All-Clad" cookware to people that have chronic arthritus, or carpal tunnel syndrome, it has too much weight & can be hazardous, just by lifting it's heavyness in weight, which to my opinion is a disadvantage to some people.
I want to extend to Amazon & Amazon Staff my many Thanks For this great product & The Cuisinart Company also, you have contributed to the upcoming holidays by providing a delightful & joyous addition to my life-time cookware, again thanks & wishing everyone all the best & Happy Upcomiing Holidays!!
A REAL pan! - Review written on September 17, 2005

How wonderful to finally be able to cook with a real pan! I've been making do with some very old cheapy nonstick pans (picture loose, wobbly plastic handles, scratched nonstick interior, etc.) for quite a while. When the big pan from that set died recently, I just had to do without! Now I've finally got a real pan to replace it - this 5 1/2 quart saute pan! Just made my first dish with it - seared a roast to go into the oven, then sauteed some onions and garlic, and deglazed with the sauce. Awesome! It was a great pleasure to work with, cooked evenly (I followed the instructions and turned the temp down a little, and sure enough it still heated up extremely well and cooked wonderfully), and cleaned up beautifully afterward. The pan is large, but was not as heavy as I had expected one that size to be, although still a little challenging to handle one-handed. Handle of pan and lid stayed nice and cool, I'm very impressed with this pan and will definitely be looking forward to building the rest of my Cuisinart Chef set!
5-Stars for the Pan...0-Stars for Amazon Packaging - Review written on August 25, 2005

All my Chef's Classic cookware looks and cooks wonderfully well and is normally a breeze to clean up. This Monster pan is no exception. Weighing in at close to 10 lbs., it is the senior edition of the highly rated Cuisinart 3 1/2-Qt. Saute Pan. If you have a small range, the size of this (a full 12" accross) may crowd out some other burners, so beware.
I discovered thet the dome cover for the shallow Cuisinart 12" 'everything' pan also fits this pan and thus makes it a good candidate for a dutch oven.
Now for the bad news: Amazon did not see fit to ship this within a padded box. As a result, the pan arrived with a dent in the 'dripless' rim. I will likely not return it, but will give Amazon some 'direct' feedback.
(9/15 Update): Amazon made a very positive and 'generous' response to my complaint. Thank you Amazon! Also, both the 3 1/2 Qt. and 5 1/2 Qt. saute pans are on 'super' sale. Do yourselves a favor and buy both.
(9/23 Update): Because of the lower 'super' price (currently $27.99), I ordered two more as gifts. One shipped with the Cuisinart retail box packed in a nicely padded Amazon box and the other was shipped only in a Cuisinart retail box that had split open. Fortunately there were no dings or dents since this is a very sturdy, hefty item. I wonder if Amazon owns the warehouses its goods ship from? If it does, Amazon needs to try for consistency in its packing.
02/09/06: Here's an oddity: After several 'hefty' price hikes, Amazon is now hawking this 'monster' pan for $5 less than the 3 1/2 quart pan. Go figure!
