We use flashlights behind the bar to get peoples attention or for emergency situations and by far this has been the best light I have used. I now carry one in my car, house and on me. The batteries can be expensive, but you can find a bulk buy online for a reasonable price.

I was looking for a replacement for my 3 D cell Maglight and wanted a smaller less cumbersome light. All the tactical lights Id seen in the stores were over $75!! I came across the Streamlight Scorpion and gave it a try. It is remarkable. A strong light from such a small package. Well made and the rubber grip is a good idea. Im really happy I picked this up. It does a great job and didnt cost as much as other flashlights.

I got this flashlight for christmas this past year since i would be doing delivery for a local pizza place when i got home. I was a little skeptical about how well this would actually work out on the job. This is a MUST HAVE for delivery drivers that have to find address numbers and street signs in poorly lit areas. On metallic street signs the light makes the sign pop out at you and is just unmatched. the only thing that is a little disappointing but not so huge i wont use it anymore would have to be the battery life and price of replacement batteries. Only about 3 1/2 hours on full power i want to say and then $10/battery to replace from where i've seen them. But overall a great flashlight especially for the size.

Everyone should have a few of these around the house, in the car, in your pocket, and next to your gun.

very good light for the money, waterproof housing and very bright bulb, but they don't last very long. not to be used as a everyday light, more for emergency.

I work in theater and use my flashlight for all sorts of things. This is by far, my favorite flashlight. I bought this one because I lost my other one and could not learn to live without it. It has a nice bright beam that goes farther than most other flashlights I've used. It also does not tend to turn itself on in its holster which is a problem I've had with other higher end flashlights. It is extremely durable as I've put it through huge hail storms, wet gravel and sand and it still worked just as well as the day I bought it. I also like the ability to put it in my teeth when I need both hands and it doesn't hurt my teeth at all.

been using these for years....great to have around in the vehicle, bedside etc incase the 'big one' hits (earthquake out here). never had to shine one in anyone's eyes who comtemplated me harm but I hear these make good passive self defense devices as they buy you a few moments of your adversaries' blindness to run or make an impact. Product has great quality that has not changed for years. highly recommended.
One for every car and nightstand! - Review written on December 13, 2006

This is a wonderful little flashlight. It is small (but not lightweight -- this is not one of those flimsy plastic things) and has a very powerful, bright light. We keep one in all of our nightstands in case the lights go out at night, and we also keep one in our cars. It's the perfect flashlight for household use and makes a great gift.

This is a tremendous little light. It boasts 114 lumens of nice white light--much brighter than any light you can buy at your local community stores, like Walmart. Only a few tactical lights are brighter, but not by very much.

For instance, the best supercheap tactical flashlight one can buy at Walmart is a Brinkman Maxfire LX (about 80 lumens of light) for around $20. This is a few dollars more but considerably brighter, much brighter than most people would demand. But this is to be expected as this is a high intensity light.

The light is easy to carry and has a nice rubber grip. It is water resistant, very small...just slips into the pocket and can be forgotten about until it is needed. The on/off button is found on the back and can be "clicked" to the fulltime on position when desired. The light also adjusts focus for a wider or tighter beam, though as with many Streamlight flashlights, the beams do not adjust very well for long distance viewing. Streamlight's flashlights tend to have very wide beams with less focus. This one is the same. So if you are trying to spot what's along a fenceline or field in the distance (a few hundred feet away), you might find some other lights are better at it. However, for all practical purposes, this is one of the very best lights on the market...tough, small, practical, bright, and handy.

Streamlight puts out lights used by profesionals...police, security, etc. This one runs on 2 CR123 lithium batteries. Battery life of the light is about average for this sort--an hour or just over of constant use. Obviously, if the light is used tactically (not in the fulltime "on" position), the more life it will offer.

As a flashlight enthusiast, this light is in my top ten favorites. I highly recommend it.

I believe this is the same flashlight I have. Right now, as I type this review, the electric is on and my computer is working (and obviously, the internet is connected). It's 6:00 pm on a summer day. At the moment, it would seem flashlights would be the LAST thing on my mind. But today, that's not true.

It's important to have a working flashlight in your home when the lights go out (and always remember where it is, so you aren't tripping over everything to find it). You never know when the electric will go out. Just because a thunderstorm isn't around doesn't mean your electric is safe. But at the same time, don't rush around trying to finish everything because of a fear you might have that the electric will shut off any second. Not healthy.

Also, have working batteries around (and make sure you update them every 6 months or so- nothing's worse than walking around in the dark FINALLY finding the flashlight JUST to have it not work as a result of dead batteries, and then FINALLY finding replacement batteries JUST to have them not work either). Talk about a bad night.

This might not be the same flashlight I have, but the color is the same (black). Find a place to keep your flashlight in case the electric goes out, and make sure you check the flashlight every so often, to make sure it works. If it doesn't work, come here and buy one. Good price.

I have had several of these great little lights. I took 3 of them on a safari in Africa and came back with none. The guides were so impressed with them and their ability to spot game at night that I left the lights with them. The Amazon price is one of the best I've seen.
Make sure you've considered the Strion, too. - Review written on February 20, 2006

The light works wonderfully. It's deceptively bright for its size, and it's terribly durable. All around, it's the quality and performance I've come to expect from Streamlight's products (which is second to none). I'm fully satisfied.

The only word of "caution" I can offer is to make sure that you've thought seriously about the Strion flashlight, too.

Think about how much the light will actually be on. Think about how long it'll be dormant. Do some homework on the maintanence of a Ni-Cad battery, and consider the Strion, too. I went with this light, knowing that when I use it, it'll mostly be on for very short times, and that there might be periods of a month or two where I didn't use it at all. All that down time could kill a ni-cad battery (I let that happen with my Stinger), and I would rather replace the lithiums a couple times a year, than the Ni-Cads even just once a year (cost and convenience).

If I was going to be using the light every day, and/or have it on for good chunks of time when I was using it, I would have bought the Strion, instead.

I bought this light cause of its size and brightness, great for checking your vehicle for car bombs (which was done on a daily basis) it is extremely bright, compact, and vertually indestructible., the only drawback is it uses expensive and hard to find batteries, so you must pack alot or ship them in from the states. much better than the widely used maglight, which just doesnt have enough light

Pros: The Scorpion's small compact size and light weight construction make this a good high powered light. The rubber grip is a plus when operating in wet conditions.

Cons: Although the batteries have a reported 5 year shelf life they only last for 1 hour of continued use and the batteries are very expensive for there use.

I recommend this light for in your car or anywhere there is limited use and you have a need for it to sit for long periods between uses.

My orginal Scorion still works after 8 years of daily use. Most of the rubber coating has worn off, but this fabulous little light still works like a charm. Other than replacing a few bulbs, it hasn't required any maintenance. This little workhorse has even withstood numerous trips through the washing machine! The bulb and head assembly diffuse the beam nicely, giving you a bright, wide beam. I highly recommend.

I have been used Maglite for years. Although Maglite is still great flashlight(especially when there is no electricity like it was in Summer 2003) with considerable operating time per battery set replacement, I wanted brighter flashlight.
Originally I was considering Surefire, but their flashlights were a bit too pricey. Then, I heard about Streamlight.
I got my Scorpion today, and I am very satisfied with this small flashlight. I guess that I will also consider to buy bigger, brighter model in upper price range from Streamlight.

One night I was fixing my speakers in the rear of the car. I used my Scorpion Streamlight to give me some extra light. For some reason I accidently left the flashlight on when it was sitting on the backseat. Meanwhile, several minutes later I smelled some burning and it was the Scorpion slowly burning a hole through my back seat. I was upset but surprised by the power of this little flashlight. Whenever I bust out this little guy out my friends react in awe by how much light comes from this little flashlight. I'm quite pleased but the batteries aren't cheap. My advice on batteries are to look for some on Ebay that run cheaper and buy in bulk. It has a nice rubberized grip for nice handling. I even hold it with my teeth when my hands are occuppied as I look at my engine in my car at night. This flashlight kicks the shizzle out of a maglite but it really drains the batteries if you have it one for a long time.
Very good general purpose flashlight - Review written on December 16, 2003

Streamlight Scorpion is a very good general purpose flashlight, as the light is bright, and quite even when the beam is set tigth. The light is easy to operate with tailcap end click-on switch, but there is no separate momentary switch. You can depress the click-on switch halfway down to get the same effect, but that is not as good a solution as a separate momentary switch would have been.

The light is brigth with fresh batteries, but the light dims quite fast as the batteries are used. The light bulb heats up with constant use, and that can melt a hole into the plastic lens. That has happened twice to me, as the light has been clicked on accidentally without me noticing that. The light beam is adjustable, but when adjusted wide, there are some serious dark rings on the beam. The body of the flashlight is covered with rubber sleeve. I like the feel of that, although it is possible that the flashlight can stick to clothing when removed from pocket, but I haven't any problems like that.

This flashlight is a very good choice for general purpose flashlight, and the price is reasonable. It is not suitable for a tactical light (for law enforcement, for example), mainly because it has no momentary switch.

Bright Light in a Small Package - Review written on March 06, 2003

The Streamlight Scorpion is a small light that puts out a lot of brightness for its size.

Powered by 2, 3-volt lithium batteries this flashlight is pretty small (both in diameter and length). You'll be amazed how such a small flashlight can light up a room or an object at night.

The pushbutton switch is on the bottom of the light, so that might take getting used to. It's a three function switch (on/off/momentary on). The body of the flashlight is coated with rubber, so it's easy to grip if your hands are wet. However, this makes it difficult to bring out if you keep it in your pants pocket or a holster.

The beam quality is nice: no "holes" or "rings" in the spotlight.

Pluses: small size, bright light, manufacturer with good reputation for quality, lithium batteries have 10 year shelf life.

Minues: Takes 3-Volt lithium batteries (can be expensive), flashlight is fairly expensive.

This is a good light to keep in the car glove compartment for emergencies because it's small and the lithium batteries will keep for a long time.

Would I buy this again? Yes, but because of the cost I would make sure that I don't lose it.
