Streamlight 4AA Great light - Review written on June 13, 2008

Rating: 4 out of 5

I purchased one to try out while on jobs outside of the plant. The flashlight worked so well that I purchase two more for the maintenance dept. Everyone likes them so well that we have to make sure that they do not walk off. Flashlight is smaller and lighter than the 2-D cell maglites that we use to have. It is much easier to use around the equipment and out on job sites. Light quality is great and so is the battery life. I even put these lights in my wife's and sons cars; my brother is even going to get one for his birthday. If you want a versatile light, this is it. I have no problem recommending this flashlite.

Great little multipurpose light!!!! - Review written on January 29, 2008

Rating: 5 out of 5

This streamlight 4AA LED makes a great multipurpose light. I'm a firefighter, and it makes a perfect addition to carry around. The light output doesn't reach very far (max 50ft). However, it is very bright and will light up an entire room.

It is also great for flashing people on scenes. The construction is almost bulletproof, and it is waterproof to boot. We have company issued "Streamlight Survivors" that we carry on our engines, and I now prefer the 4AA LED over these.

Pros: Short size, bright light, bulletproof construction, long lasting battery life, durable, and easy to carry, will light up a whole room.

Cons: Short beam distance, could be a little bit lighter in the weight dept.

I now own several of these lights. They are high quality, and very bright. It seems like the batteries last forever. The bright yellow handle makes it easy to find. You will love this LED flashlight.
Great regular battery flashlight - Review written on December 04, 2007

Rating: 5 out of 5

Let me say first that I love flashlights, have tried about every brand and model out there, and always own about 2 dozen flashlights at a time. This is the best flashlight I have found for uses where you want one that uses regular batteries. It is reasonably small, durable, easy to use (simple on-off operation), has a bright light, and the color makes it easy to find. I have several around the house for power outages (a common occurrence in Detroit) as well as one in my car.

While there are some uses for which I prefer even smaller flashlights that take 3 volt lithium batteries and even watch batteries, for every day uses where you don't have to carry the flashlight on your person, this is the best!
A Great & Sturdy Little Flashlight - Review written on November 09, 2007

Rating: 5 out of 5

I own several of these little beauties & give them as Xmas gifts every year. They don't burn through batteries & hold up well to my 3 year old grandson's torture; they're light weight, feel good in your hand & are as bright (if not brighter) than the old Mag Lights I used to lug around.

But here's the problem: I've been trying to place my Xmas order for the 4-AA variety & Amazon (not the vendors) has the item # wrong. I've placed 2 orders from 2 different vendors and both times received the wrong flashlghts. It's starting to get annoying. Beware if you order these through Amazon.

Being in the repair business, I use flashlights a lot during the day and I can say this is the best flashlight ever. No more big, bulky flashlights with burned out bulbs again! These are very heavy duty and stand up to industrial use and are extremely compact and light. Put out a lot of light, battery life is exceptional. I bought 5 of them. Wonderful product, highly recommended.

Worked for slightly over a year, then the switch failed. Nice flashlight up to that point, but why pay for a Streamlight that doesn't last? You can get that from a generic for less than half price.

This is my first LED flashlight and I was amazed at the power the flashlight has. It's compact design and the illumanation it has blows me away. I am not sure how long the batteries last, and if its battery life is acceptable, I would recommend this flashlight for anyone.

Bright but fragile - Fixed under warranty - Review written on April 27, 2007

This flashlight gives a bright light when it works but one drop on a carpeted floor and it's dead. Contacting Streamlight I found out that it has a lifetime warranty. I took it to an authorized repair center. It was promptly fixed at no cost.

This is an edit of a previous post. I would like to change the star rating to 4 stars but didn't see a way to do it.

I am purchasing a second flashlight as a backup in case I have trouble again.

I bought this flashlight so that I would have a flashlight for emergencies which did not use up batteries quickly. The light emitted from it is pretty bright for an LED light.

I accidentally dropped it four feet onto a cement pad and it kept working with no problems. It seems to be a pretty durable light. I consistently find that this is the flashlight I reach for when I need a light.

Wanted this so someone would be seen at night as well as see. This product fits the bill, the light is very bright and constant. It's very compact.

The spread is better than a conventional bulb torch using C or D cells and the batteries last longer.

I gave this unit 4 Stars instead of 5 only because Flashlight reviews say the LED can fail early due to overvoltage..
They suggest a dummy slug in the battery compartment.
I use NiMH's which are about 1.31[5.24 Total] volts instead of 1.64 [6.56 Total]

It is VERY bright, a floodlight not a spotlight.

Light enough to hold in your teeth in case of dire need.

The range is about 50-60 ft max, like I said it's a floodlight.

I sell LED flashlights and have moved a few of these. Generally a good all purpose light.

This is the second one of these flashlights I have purchased. The first is excellent as a rugged tool box light, durable and waterproof. The second arrived DOA with a faulty tailcap switch. This seems to be a recurring problem as stated by another reviewer. I still recommend it but keep the box and paperwork in case you need to send it back. Good thing Amazon has such a great return policy.

If you want a dim flashlight that lasts for a very long time, this is the light for you. For the price, the level of illumination is very poor. I have two single led flashlights that put out significantly more light than this "7-led" light. Save your money!

I ran in to the same problem that others have; the on/off switch is garbage. I had one of these for about a year, and no problem so I bought another. I used the second one about a dozen times and then the switch stopped being reliable and then quit. Two weeks later the original started doing the same thing. It still works, but I have to switch it off and on 3 or 4 times before it (usually) stays on. I really like the light other than the switch, but wouldn't buy another.

This is one tough light! Excellent wide area light output which is great for most uses around the house, shop and best of all walking the dog at night. It is not designed as a long throw spot light, there are other lights for that job. But for what it is, a great light! Battery life is also very good, on both alkaline and NiMH rechargeables. You can't go wrong for the price!

It is the brightest flashlight I have ever owned. I have to admit that I had one of these before and I work on ships as a Electronics Tech and I had lost it onboard. Since then I used other lights that just didn't measure up to the streamlight. So I had to get another one. Best light I ever owned!!!

Very will made and waterproof. I use this model light on a saltwater fishing boat for the crew. They hold up very well in tough conditions. Just the right size to fit in a jacket pocket, and provides a good broad beamed light for use on the deck or in the cabin/cockpit.

I've bought 9 of these lights over the last 2 years with no failures.

I'm amazed. Twice, this flashlight has been left turned on, under a sink or on a table and it keeps burning and burning. The depth of light is astounding. I've heard noises waaaay back against the fence in my huge yard, and shined this little flashlight from the house and been able to see in every nook and cranny. I have a flashlight-nut friend and he had a fit when he saw the light coming off this thing. I wish I had 100 to give as gifts. Bravo Streamlight.

I have only used the Streamlight for a couple of days but I am impressed by the brightness and that it uses standard AA batteries. The brightness is on a par with a Surefire Nitrolon which uses batteries with a 1 hour run time. I cannot comment on it's longevity/durability at this point but it "feels" fairly rugged.

This flashlight has a design flaw. After a while, the lights began to flicker. The factory replaced it and the replacement did the same thing. I called again and they said they would send a new one, but they never did.

I have owned mine for a year now, and I am very pleased with this flashlight. It has a strong beam, relatively compact, and I have yet to use up the 4 AA batteries. After a big storm, we were without power for 2.5 days and I used this flashlight quite a bit. I dropped it several times and the LED lights did not go out. This would not have been the case with incandescent bulbs.

I bought two of these for a camping trip and they worked quite well on NiMH
batteries when the batteries were charged. I did have a problem with the
batteries as one of them wouldn't hold a complete charge. The flashlight
was moderately dimmer but that's expected.

The flashlight with the recommended alkaline batteries is a little brighter
as they put out 1.5 volts while NiHM puts out 1.2 volts.

They're rugged as advertised and pretty convenient. These two flashlights have replaced our two-D-cell flashlights for general use and not having to
recharge and replace batteries is very nice.

These flashlights are pricey but I chose them over some cheaper models
as they advertise a 100,000 hour bulb life compared to some LED lights
that advertise 10,000 hours.

I also have a Princeton Tec Attitude 4-AAA cell LED flashlight with three
leds.

I keep this in my backpack or carry it in my shirt pocket when I need more
modest lighting as it's smaller and lighter.

This is an excellent flashlight for the money. The white LED's provide a brilliant, long-lasting light, and allows for seeing true colors of items like wires, tags, or skin tones. The back mounted push-button switch is very handy for one-handed operation. The bright yellow body makes it easy to find, and it's light weight is easy to pack. With water resistant O-rings and no outside metal to rust, there's never a worry about using it in the rain or wet areas. I own 3 of these, and have not had any trouble for over a year of use. Sure, you might find a cheaper light, but none better.
