The best photo paper i've ever used! - Review written on November 13, 2006

Rating: 5 out of 5

I scrapbook, so i like to print what i need to scrap at home, one page at a time. This way i do not have a million pictures laying around staring at me and overwhelming me. I've purchased Kodak paper which i felt was grainy, and printed dark. Its expensive too. I bought HP glossy paper which was a heavier wieght and it was AWFUL. The outlines on human bodies is black, and the ink dries raised in spots of high color, the paper feels awful, grainy nasty.

This paper by canon is just supreme. Its just as good or better than any photo you get at the store. Its high gloss, dries very fast, almost immediatly unlike most papers that you can not touch for atleast 10 minutes for fear of smearing. I print very high resolution prints, most of my prints are over 1mb each on my pc and i enhance everything and saturate photos to give optimum colors, and this paper handles that perfectly.

I'll never ever use another brand. One note also, I own a Canon printer, but recieved an epson printer with my Nikon D50, which i set up in my bedroom for late night scrapping. This cannon paper prints just as beautifully on the epson as it does on the canon. Lots of paper just do not allow printing off of other printers, but the canon is the bomb!

Great paper. We have used this and the Pro paper and this is close. The different Canon papers are very good quality, we have experimented with the glossy and matte and have been pretty happy with the results.

I have a Pixma 6000 and this is the best paper I have found for it. I have tried to go cheap and use other inks and papers but it just didn't work for me. I am back to OEM. I just ordered 6 packs to get free shipping :-)

Works great with my Canon i9900, of course. You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between these prints and those developed from film. If they could just do those little 'Kodak' watermarks on the back...

Use this paper in a Pixima i3000. Works well and produces nearly flawless results that are difficult to differentiate from "real" prints.

I have used this paper with my canon i860 photo printer for over one year. More than 500 photos later, I say it is a quality product, economical, and convenient since it is exactly 4x6 inches, no trimming necessary. With my canon printer the color and clarity are astounding, beats the socks off any competitor. Best paper I've used for snapshots. I don't buy anything else.

I've used Kodak 8x10 sheets in the past, and it was a pain to cut them when printing out shapshots. These are great, and they work great in my iPixma 3000 printer. My only complaint is, when printing out borderless photos using the iPixma software included with the printer, it cuts off the edges of the picture. I like to do a lot of cropping to make my images fill the photo, and if I crop then print, I often lose the top or bottom part of the picture. I have to be careful.

I absolutely love the Canon Photo Paper Plus, and I won't use any other type of photo paper. I use it with my Canon i850 printer. All of the photos are clear, sharp and beautiful. A lot of people don't believe that the photographs in my albums and frames were printed from home. The stock of paper is also excellent. Some photo papers are very thin, but this one is perfect and holds up very well. I strongly recommend this product to anyone looking for high quality paper.

I bought 4 boxes of this product a couple of years ago. First I thought it was good buy. But after hanging some pictures in my office for a few months, I noticed that they started fading. I used the same Canon printer on some Kodak papers. The pictures still look very nice even after three years. I will never buy this product

The only paper to use with your Canon printer! I tried Kodak and HP with my Canon i960, but they were not nearly as good. With Photo Paper Plus, I get crisp, clear prints that are hard to distinguish from the photo lab. The Paper is thick and the size is perfect.

Does the job well. Combined with a Canon Pixma printer, most people who see the results do not believe I printed them at home. If you shop well you can produce images for nearly the same cost as some of the discount photo labs (a service I still use on some work), but the convenience of being able to instantly create a near photo-lab quality print is hard to beat. I purchased this paper because everywhere I looked it reviewed well, and it was the cheapest of the quality papers. Very satisfied.

As I write this review, I am using the this Photo paper Plus I bought off Amazon. It is just the perfect paper to compliment your Canon Printer. Personally I have a Canon i860 (just got off Amazon) to replace an older Canon whose printhead died (S900). Once I got my printer, I reprinted almost every photo I have! And what paper did I use - none other than Canon's Photo Paper Plus 4X6 glossy. It has never let me down - and I see absolutely no difference between the glossy and photo paper pro, so why not save $?

This paper is $11.99 + tax in every retail store I visit. I can't believe Amazon can sell it this cheaply! I picked up 4 packs because it's too good of a deal and I know I'll use every last piece of paper.

PROS:
Wonderful prints - looks better than a photo lab in much less time!
Paper is nice and glossy, never had a defective piece.
Colors are true and vivid.
Great price vs. retail.

CONS:
Packaging leaves much to be desired. The outer carton is fine, but - I personally have ruined a few pieces of Canon paper because the adhesive they use to seal their plastic packages attaches to the paper and rips it apart - I carefully remove the plastic packaging and throw it away immediately.

BUY THIS PAPER!!! It's wonderful and inexpensive! Perfect for Canon printers!

I agree with everyone that this paper produces terrific results initially. If the prints are exposed to direct light for any period of time, serious fading becomes evident (using canon inks in a s750 canon printer). The pictures on my pegboard at work have faded to almost nothing within 3 months. Although I have not tried the photopaper pro, I would not trust this paper for archival photos. For about the same price (and less hassle), I am using online printing from now on.

Before finding it on Amazon, I use to drive 40 miles each way to buy this at an overpriced, overcrowded electronics megastore than shall remain nameless for $12.99 per pack. THAT is how far above this paper stands above everything else that I have tried. The price is great here and if you get quality paper it will reduce the ink money and frustration you would spend trying to get a decent print out of a cheaper paper. Also, the paper is the perfect size, quality, and cost (about half as much per print than a tranditional print) to have fun with. BUY TWO SIDED TAPE and stick these little gems everywhere.

I generally cannot discern the difference between this and the pro paper, and after spending the last decade in the darkroom, I like to think I can generally tell something about quality photographic prints.

I have not had the yellow tint problem that has been mentioned in earlier reviews.

I got some free Photo Pro paper with my printer. I printed the same pic on Pro and Paper Plus, and the pictures looked exactly the same to me. The Pro paper may be slightly heavier. Anyway, I'll be buying this paper b/c it's great quality and a good price.
Nearly identical to Canon Photo Paper Pro! - Review written on May 19, 2004

I bought a i960 printer last week and it came with 5 samples of Photo Paper Pro. The printer was my first "photo printer" so I decided to give it a try and see how close the quality is from that of professional printing. After printing one sample, I have to agree w/ many reviewers here that the print quality of Canon printer along w/ the Canon paper is awesome!

I then bought 3 packs of Canon Photo Paper Plus (afterall it's $.10/page cheaper than the Pro). I printed the same photo with the Plus and I cannot tell the difference in terms of color and clarity! The only difference I saw was, if I look at the photos under the light in a certain angle, I see that the printed surface of the Plus is slightly rougher (less uniform) than that of the Pro. But you really have to look close to see the difference and honestly it doesn't impact the quality of the photo. So my conclusion is the Canon Photo Paper Plus is the way to go! (BTW, I previously bought some generic "glossy photo paper" on eBay and the quality was not accetable w/ ink smearing.)

I use this paper on my Canon i860 and it prints just like, if not better then the photo's you get from the one hour photo lab. This stock is actually thicker and better quality.
Super colors. The price is the best part. You get a high quality photo paper at more then 50% savings. Stock up. This is a great deal!!

If you have a Canon printer, then buy Canon paper, which would ensure the best quality.
I bought Kodak paper once because it was cheaper, but the difference was negatively noticeable.
If you just had a baby, then buy several packs at once, because it's really true that you'll print far more than you'd expect!

This photo paper is outstanding quality and a great value. The prints come out looking just like a developed film picture. Easy to use and no misfeeds so far. The print is superb quality, it even feels like a photo. The glossy coat is a little delicate.
A note for Canon S300 printer owners - Review written on February 12, 2004

Just a note for Canon S300 printer owners. Amazon incorrectly states that this paper is compatible with the S300. They should have said the S330. The S330 is capable of borderless prints, the S300 is not.

I was able to get my S300 to print (bordered) 4x6s after some experimentation. (Custom paper size = 4x6, layout = portrait ONLY).

The prints are beautiful.

I bought 5 packs of this paper and printed 100 photos for the front of our holiday card last year (December 2003).

The results were awesome, and most people cannot tell that it is not a print.

I printed from iPhoto on an iMac G4 using a Canon i850 photo printer.

You can always get better paper and a better printer and get even better results.. but for nearly every use I have found this paper (and other Canon papers like the 8.5x11) look terrific.

Buy a bunch, you will print more than you think, and it's no fun to run out.

I purchased this paper to use with my Canon I900D printer. The results are very good. While this paper does indeed produce results comparable to 35mm prints the gloss, overall smoothness, and brighness of the paper are a little less than 35mm glossy prints. However the quality of the image produced on this paper with the I900D is excellent.

I have printed on both this paper and the Photo Pro paper and while the prints are similar, the gloss and smoothness of the Photo Pro paper is superior and about equal to 35mm prints. The Photo Pro paper is also somewhat brighter and whiter than the Photo Paper Plus.

Because the Photo Pro paper is substantially more expensive it is hard to justify the extra expense for it, however it does produce prints more similar to 35mm prints.

My printer has BCI-24 ink tanks. The results are excellent. Color fidelity is good. The detail is sharp. The prints withstand normal handling. A very good quality photo paper with a good price. BTW, always match the ink and the paper, printer companies make their profit on the supplies, but you get the best results that way.

If you have a Canon printer which uses BCI-6 ink cartridges (e.g., S820 or S900), don't even bother with other brands of photo paper; you won't be happy with them after you've used Canon Photo Paper. It may be hard to get (it is locally at least) but the finished result is well worth the effort! :-)

23 July 2008 update: We found that the local Staples carries this and regularly has sales at half price which is a good deal. Otherwise the advice still holds.
