I received a GBA from my brother, & because I'm a fan of Harry Potter this was the 1st game I bought. I really enjoyed playing it, & found that I couldn't stop playing it!

I was impressed by the graphics, & the sound was pretty good (The last handheld I had was the original clunky Gameboy) so this was a suprise to see how it's changed graphically.

The story wasn't the best (Nothing like the Gamecube version), but I liked performing the tasks, & it was in a way almost relaxing to play this game. It definately made long drives less long.

Although I must admit I suck at Quidditch... Oh well, we can't all be a Viktor Krum...

This game is weak and it really is a waste of money. The graphics are ok but there is hardly any sound except beeps! There is no action, adventue or anything like that. It takes about an hour to complete if you're slow. The only good thing is well nothing!!! Don't buy this game cause it is a waste of your money.

This was my second Harry Potter game, the first being Sorcerer's Stone on GBC. I loved this game!

Okay, so I'm one of the older people into games, but it was a nice challenge. Keeping me busy at the doctor's office, when I needed sleep but couldn't, and other activities too boring to mention.

The graphics were okay, much better than GBC. In reality, GBC sucked! After completing COS I went out and bought this one for GBA. Unfortunately, rule #1 is never buy it used. I need to purchase a NEW one!!

There are lots of things to turn, but it was never boring playing this game!! GET IT!!

I got this for christmas last year and i must say it's kinda boring. I got through gringotts in about the first day i got it, and then i got to hogwarts. I got through most of hogwarts ok, then i had to go through filch with the invisibility cloak. I'm still stuck there, after about 4months!except, i dont play it anymore, so it's not like i've been trying...
If you like playing a repetitive game thats impossible to beat, get this game. ...

When I finally bought a Gameboy Advance, This was the game I bought with it. I was really into it a first because it was the first game I had ever played on a GBA. I actually finished it in two days!! This was a bit of a disappointment to me, because I has hoped it would be longer. The game is boring to play once you have completed it once because it is all the same. And you don't get to fly in the flying car either, like they say on this site.

I was very dissapointed with this game. I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter, and I thought this game would be a blast. It turned out I could beat the game in 24 hours. It was fun the first time I beat it, but it ended up being a snore the last couple of times. I do have to admit, there were some parts i was stuck on for a little bit, but it ended up being a sinchy thing I forgot you could do. DO NOT GET THIS GAME! It's just a waste of money. My brother took it with him on field trip and lost it though. I'm kinda glad because he ended up buying me a new game that is more challenging. It was "SuperMarioAdvance3:Yoshi's Island", and that's a great game. You should stick with mario games is my opinion.

This game is fun for the first 20 minutes, but then it gets just boring. At the end of the game when you fight the basilisk, all it is is a worm that slithers in a circle, and you have to shoot at it with you wand to kill it. Overall, i thought that this game was a really disapointing game made from a cool book and ok movie. It may be kind of fun to play it the first time through, but i would never want to replay the game.

I got this game for Christmas last year, thinking I would really love it. However, I found it not to be what I had expected after I began playing.
The graphics and music are very impressive for a GBA game, but the content of the game is second-rate. It is a very butchered adaptation of the book and the movie. There isn't that much action in it--even the Quidditch game is kind of dull and the climax where you fight the (very stupid-looking) Basilisk isn't anything special.
One of the few good things about the game are the bonuses you can find. For collecting the 5 wizard cards in each set gives you something extra (for example, collecting all the charms cards gives you the Alohomora spell and collecting all the beasts cards opens a glossary of beasts that's worth checking out). And by collecting all 100 red beans you can play a slide puzzle game. Sometimes getting all of the bonus things will take a while, so you may have to play it several times before you get everything unlocked. The saving system of the game is fair because you don't have to memorize any passwords, but finding the saving points can be annoying if you're running low on patience.
Still, it's a fun game to play the first few times you play it. Heck, I still play it once in a while even after I've had it for a year. I give this game 3 stars because it isn't a game I'd do cartwheels over, but it isn't a waste of money.

I really liked it. It had lots of action. Once you started playing, and got the hang of it, it was fun to play. So be patient at the beginning....

You have to really think before you make any moves. The game kept me on my toes the whole time. I enjoyed it very much and highly recommend it.

My favorite part was earning spells and wizard trading cards. I didn't really understand the game until I got past Gringotts. Messages from the owls were very helpful. I had fun beating the trolls, too. It's hard to catch the golden snitch. The game kept me challenged for a couple of months until I finally beat it. The basilisk was really easy to beat at the end of the game. I recommend it to any Harry Potter fan.

This game is alright, nothing special. I am dissapointed because I was expecting it to be similar to HP and the sorcerer's stone for GBC, and it is not. The graphics are the best part of the whole game because they are in 3D. You can get frustrated easily because you can easily get stuck and not be able to move on. There is also only one slot for a saved game.

I took this with me on my deployment and I must say I really enjoyed this game. It had me hooked after the arrival at Hogwarts. The graphics are pretty good for such a little screen and the controls weren't too hard. No need to use cheats with this one... it can be done, even when you think you are stuck!

This game was slightly disappointing. It did have many details that the movie left out purposely (or not). I didn't have much of a choice when I had to pick a game from the limited GBA game shelf at Gamestop, and I coldn't order online yet. Since there was this game, I decided to get it as I am a big fan of HP.

Well, the game was entertaining. Being a girl who likes action, adventure and is basically not very fond of boring games, this game deserved what it got. The challenge was pretty varied for players of different experiences. You can get stuck easily and I was pretty frustrated, but the game was okay overall. The graphics took full advantage of the GBA. Overall, I'd rate it an 8/10.

While the graphics and size of this game are impressive for a GBA title, it is still an overwhelmingly bad game. First it is fairly boring, consisting mostly of going through long dungeon areas and flipping one switch after another. This gets pretty repetitive during the first dungeon in Gringott's Bank, but the dungeons keep coming throughout the game and all of them feel exactly the same. There is very little action to speak of. It's all about flipping switches, moving blocks onto switches, avoiding teachers and jumping onto platforms. Speaking of jumping, the game also has an awful control system. To give the game a 3-D look, everything is on an isometric diagonal view and most of the time you must move diagonally. Unfortunately the GameBoy Advance control pad is not really made for that much diagonal movement and it is very awkward moving Harry around. You can change the set-up so that Harry will move diagonally if you press in the easier Up, Down, Left and Right directions, but this just makes it more confusing. There are still other problems. You only get one save file, so if a second person wants to play, they must delete the first player's game. And there is no sleep mode, so you have to find one of the save points before you turn off the game or else lose whatever progress you may have made (not good for people who play in short stretches on the subway for instance). The music is okay, but really nothing special. Also I found it strange that you don't get to control the flying car in the beginning of the game. Maybe you will get the opportunity later in the game when escaping the spiders, but I doubt I will play it long enough to get there, it's just too boring.

My bro has this game. I've played it a few times...pretty good game! Entertaining and a must have for any Harry Potter fan. The only thing that kept this game from getting 5 stars is the settings are awfully dark, so it's hard to see on important levels like when you have to copy a Professor's complicated wand movements. Besides that, cool game! Watch out for the evil rats!

I didn't like this game because of the bad graphics, lousy sound, laughavle voices and frustrating game-play. Usually, game-adaptations, while not all that, mostly follow the story closely, and only because of that was I interested. Well see, that's the entire nature of the problem; it doesn't. Not once in the game did I recall an actual scene from the movie.

i expected much, much more from this game. i thought that after harry potter and the sorceror's stone came out on gba, the makers would realize how horrible this game is. it starts off okay with a cute little intro to the game, but it just goes downhill from there. going up and down stairs is extremely difficult and quidditch is almost unbearable. there are many times when you have no clue what to do or where to go because there is no direction whatsoever. when i got this game, i expected a whole lot more. maybe the people who realeased this should have spent more time on creating a quality game instead of focusing on the quantity.

My son got the game for the holidays, and really liked to play it until one part of the game. According to my 9 year old son, when you beat Peeves, he just stays where he is and keeps on trying to get you, and you're stuck in that part of the game. He thought it was so bad that he believed someone used a game shark on it when it was being made to mess up the game. He wanted me to tell everyone not to buy the game, unless they revise it.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (PC Game) - Review written on January 17, 2003

Yea hi. I'm 13 and a girl, your probubly thinking that I have better things to do with myself then write reviews on games that I probubly don't even have, well guess what, its 10:10PM and I don't (now your probulby thinking "Go play with your dolls"). Well I do infact have the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets PC Game. And I think that it is outstanding, the plot is a little iffy but the graphics, spells, character voices are outstanding. Plus it follows the book/movie (whichever you perfer) rather well. Some things have changed from the first PC Game, for example, when he waves his wand it is followed by a blue entracing of sparkles, and when you are learning a spell instead of dragging your "wand" along the line like a drug test, you press the up, down, right, and/or left keyboard arrows, you get many chances even if you screw up once. I have beaten the game but am currently stuck at when you have to escape the Slytherin Common Room without getting noticed, if it was me, I would just put a spell on them. So I give this game an overall rating of 5 stars (only because i can't do 4 1/2 and it deserves more then 4) and am giving my reccomendation to buy (or rent, you can buy later) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on PC, PS2, Gameboy, etc.
A Decent Game, Especially For Fans - Review written on January 08, 2003

you're familiar with the Harry Potter novels, you know that they're geared toward younger readers. Nevertheless, that doesn't prevent teenagers and adults alike from enjoying the whimsical stories contained in the quartet of books. The same is true of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for the Game Boy Advance. It's an adventure filled with action and puzzles. The story is based on the plot of the second book, in which a mysterious member of the Slytherin class unleashes a monster that aims to destroy all the students at Hogwarts School who are not of magical parentage. Unfortunately for Harry, he is included in this group.

The progression of the game pretty much follows that of the book. You begin at Harry's home, visit Diagon Alley in order to procure school supplies, and then travel to Hogwarts School, where most of the action occurs. You'll also visit a number of locations that should be familiar if you've read the novels, such as Mulpepper's Apothecary and Hagrid's hut. Most of the events that occur in the book also occur in the game, including minor milestones such as learning spells or Quidditch matches. They're all much more drawn out, however, in that you'll often have to navigate a dungeon full of switches or gather a dozen different items before completing the assigned task.

On the one hand, it's good that you have to explore dungeons filled with puzzles and monsters in order to advance the story. These opportunities let you explore Harry's world, interact with the characters, and play with a half-dozen unique spells. At the same time, there are tons of secrets to uncover and hundreds of special items to collect, such as wizard cards and jelly beans. One of these secrets is a bonus area that you can access only by connecting the Game Boy Advance game to the GameCube game using the connectivity cable.

On the other hand, the number of dungeons is excessive, and the tasks you'll perform in them don't differ all that much. You'll levitate stones, dodge possessed statues, and usually battle a boss ghost at the end. The strategy for all these situations is the same, which tends to dampen your enthusiasm when the reward waiting at the exit is merely another spell, a map, or a few more jelly beans. There are definitely plenty of monsters to battle, and the puzzles certainly are clever enough, but the pace at which you acquire new spells and go through the story is a little too sluggish.

Fans of the Harry Potter books and films probably won't mind the lulls too much, since the gameplay itself does a nice job of capturing the spirit of the character. Harry can cast spells, carry items, climb short ledges, jump, tiptoe, and hide behind curtains. The stealth element is pretty pervasive throughout the game, just as it is in the book, since Harry doesn't want to get caught sneaking around the school at night. At the same time, there are secret switches and panels to discover, portraits that let you teleport throughout the school, and chocolate frogs to collect that will increase Harry's stamina. Along with the story, this kind of variety works wonders to establish a believable setting.

In the same manner, the graphics in Chamber of Secrets really bring Hogwarts to life. The environments are fairly simple and often lack color, but the details are impressive--such as the falling dewdrops and reflective puddles you'll find in the basement or the eyes on the paintings that follow you around as you travel between floors. The characters themselves are large and detailed enough that you'll recognize your favorites right away, and many of the bosses and trolls are larger still.

The audio isn't nearly as good, however. There are a few decent spell effects, and the background music fits the setting, but the overall range of effects is limited and the music is forgettable. You won't be annoyed by anything you hear, but you won't be blown away, either.

In the long run, fans of the Harry Potter books and films will enjoy the video game rendition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It tells a good story, and there's a lot to do within the confines of the Harry Potter universe. If you don't really care for the characters, you'll probably find the gameplay repetitive and dull, but then you'd have no reason to play the game anyway.

I have tried finding the remaining 2 gemstones, and I can't find them either, even though I think I have walked everywhere possible. I just got the GBA for Christmas and including the game Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets I wanted to get Godzilla Domination but when I went to the store and saw the back off the game and saw how horrible the graphics were I changed my mind. The Harry potter game has great graphics I know I don't know much about the GBA since I just go it but when I played that harry potter game I felt like I was watching a movie on a DVD player! The story line is great although I kinda didn't understand it. It would have made sense if I didn't keep skipping over it because I was so excited about playing the game. The things I didn't like about it was that you had to collect things and when I beat the game (in two days)I didn't finish collecting everything and I felt like I really didin't beat the game. ANother thing I didn't like was when you play the game over again after you beat it you start to realize they talk a little too much. I'm 14 about to be 15 in 3 weeks if your'e like 7, 8 or 9 or if you just got the GBA this would be a great game for you.

Although I expected a lot more from this game, I would have to say that the current features are satisfactory for a GBA game. You don't really get to interact or experience that you are in a "wizarding world" as much as the PS2 version, but it should keep you pretty busy for a while. One reason is the limited technology on GBA that the publisher can't make the game as detailed or as long as the PS2 or Game Cube version. However, this should satisfy a lot of people, especially for kids 12 and under and Harry Potter fans. I would have to say that the graphics are excellent. Much better than the Game Boy Color one. The game is not really difficult, but there are still some levels that will challenge your skills, such as your first flying lesson (which took me a while) and the jelly bean challenges. Overall, it's a pretty good Harry Potter game for GBA.

I got this game for Christmas and beat it with in days. I was shocked at the easiness of the game. I also own Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for GBC and that was really cool the graphics were bad but the story was awesome. It included things that the movie forgot and was a better game. U had better abilities and more of a challenge. This game was just simple a baby could beat it. I was expecting better because of GBA but I was very disappointed but it gave me a few hours of fun.
