Anyone else pick up on the fact that in The Atomic Fireball's song "Man With The Hex", the verse "You remind me of the man, what man?..." is blatantly stolen from David Bowie's song "Magic Dance" in the movie Labyrinth? I say it was stolen because I don't see anywhere in the credits for this song any mention of David Bowie or Labyrinth at all. Is this just me? Did I miss something here?

Wide Variety of Great Music - Review written on November 28, 2002

This is a GREAT soundtrack for a great movie. Dissapointingly, two or so songs are left out that were in the movie, but all the songs are awesome. It has a little rap, rock, etc., and a piano/"musical" piece at the end to top it all off. It appeals to mostly everyone, and is one of the better soundtracks out there.

I bought this CD the day I went to the theatre to see the movie. Once I watched the movie I had to have the CD. My favorite songs from the CD are #7 "Bump In The Night" and #11 "Man With The Hex" both songs are really cool. If you love the movie you need to get the CD.

The movie was good. My son loves Scooby Doo. But, this CD is all RAP music. Ok for the teen/adult who adores Rap music. But, for those of us who really don't have a taste for Rap music, it's awful. What happened to traditional Scooby.

This soundtrack has many different styles of music and is the rare breed of cd that you can put into your player and listen to and enjoy the whole thing. I LOVE this cd which features alot of really good music from a film that is just as great. Here's a breakdown of the cd:

1. Shaggy, Where Are You? - Shaggy: Exactly what you've come to expect from Shaggy, this song has a great regge vibe with a little Scooby Doo theme music mixed in. Great song! - 4 stars

2. Land Of A Million Drums - Outkast: This is my favorite song on the cd and when it plays in the movie, it makes you wanna dance and gets you in the mood for action. - 5 stars

3. Lil' Romeo's B House - Lil' Romeo: Sampling the song Brick House, this song is fun, but it's one that I could take or leave. Most likely would appeal more to kids. - 3 stars

4. Thinking About You - Solange: Solange is an up and comer who's big sister is Beyonce Knowles from superstar group Destiny's Child and you can tell. Sounding just like a clone of her big sis, this song can be nice or annoying depending on your mood. All in all, it's rather tasteless. - 3 stars

5. Words To Me - Sugar Ray: I LOVE this song. It's one of those songs that's perfect for summer that makes you wanna get up and go do something in the sun and the water. It's one of those songs when in the winter you hear it, it reminds you of how much fun you had on those summer days. Also available on Sugar Ray's latest cd, I recommend buying it and this soundtrack. - 5 stars

6. Freaks Come Out At Night - Uncle Kracker feat. Busta Rhymes: This is the kind of song you'd expect on the soundtrack to a Scooby Doo movie. Hip Hop driven with a spooky theme, it'll get you up and dancing. Fun song! -4 stars

7. Bump In The Night - Allstars: Think Michael Jackson's Thriller meets Aqua's Barbie Girl and that's what you get from this British pop group who's song is better than most will give it credit for. Too bad Allstars cd isn't available in the U.S. This song will most likely be enjoyed by the kids and those who are fans of UK pop. - 4 stars

8. Whenever You Feel Like It - Kylie Minogue: Oddly placed on this soundtrack, this song doesn't even appear in the movie and it has nothing to do with Scooby Doo. However, this song is very addictive and very melodic and I love it. Reminds me alot of her hit Can't Get You Outta My Head. - 4 stars

9. It's A Mystery - Little T feat. One Track Mike: Sweet rap song about a guy who has a crush on the girl and thinks its a mystery that she likes him back. Plays in the movie when Shaggy falls for someone that maybe he shouldn't. Cute song. - 3 stars

10. Scooby Doo - Baha Men: A rather unforgettable song placed near the end of the cd when the film begins to mellow out. - 1 star

11. Man With The Hex - The Atomic Fireballs: I love, love, love this song which is insanity at it's best! For those who fell asleep due to the previous two tracks on the album, this will surely get you up and on your feet. I've loved this song for years now and it fits Scooby Doo perfectly. - 5 stars

12. Grow Up - Simple Plan: Sounds like Blink 182 and I love it. A great song to rock to. - 4 stars

13. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? - MxPx: Great punk rock version of the Scooby Doo theme song. Even those who are anti punk will love this song which will put a smile on your face and make you slam your head. Awesome song! - 5 stars

14. Mystery Inc. - David Newman: A piece of the score from the film. Kind of a let down and a boring and poor way to end this upbeat cd. I always skip it. They should have ended it with MxPx. Someone will probably appreciate it. - 2 stars

There are two types of movie sountracks. There's some that are excellent that have a great compilation of good songs. Then there's ones with music that is just terrible. Luckily, the Scooby Doo soundtrack is in the first category. And it's better than the movie, A LOT better. Of course, this soundtrack isn't all good. But it's outweighed by the good stuff. OutKast's song is definently a good one. I'm not a big fan of rap, I like rock mostly, but I like OutKast and this is a really cool song. The MxPx version of the Scooby Doo theme is awesome. I never realized how well that song could be made into a punk song. Another punk band on this CD is Simple Plan. If you like punk at all, you'll like Simple Plan's song. "Grow Up" is a cool song. You might have heard it before in a Six Flags advertisement. This is definently a cool song and if you like "Grow Up" then I reccomend you pick up Simple Plan's CD "No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls". MxPx and OutKast CDs are also very good.

Why aren't there more BANDS on this soundtrack? The reason I haven't bought it and probably won't is b/c it's all hip-hop and rap. If you're into that, that's cool, but I'm not. I like MxPx, Simple Plan, and the Atomic Fireballs but that's about where it ends for me on this. I do have to say that the Outkast song is good but I only like it b/c of the beat and the chorus.

Now I am going to take you on a step-by-step journey through the mystery which is this soundtrack, complete with separate grades for each song.

1-Shaggy's "Shaggy Where Are You" is the first of 3 songs to incorporate the theme song from the cartoon into their own. I think the only reason Shaggy is on here is because of his name, because the song isn't that good.---2/5

2-OutKast's "Land Of A Million Drums" is one of the 3 highlights of this album. The thumping bass line, the hi-pitch note fluctuating in the background, and the speed rappin' make this intantly likeable.---5/5

3-Lil' Romeo's "Lil' Romeo's B House" is just him rapping to the Commodore classic "Brick House". Instantly forgettable---2/5

4-Solange is Beyonce Knowles' sister. How do I know? Listen to "Thinking About You" and tell me she's not. The second song to incorporate the theme song, this sounds like a Destiny's Child throwaway, complete with the vocal arrangement and music sounds of DC---Beyonce even produced it!! Still, it's pretty good.---4/5

5-Sugar Ray's "Words To Me" is pretty good. Harmless pop.---3/5

6-Uncle Kracker's "Freaks Come Out At Night" on a "Scooby-Doo" soundtrack?? What were they thinking? Besides, this song blows.
---1/5

7-Allstars' "Bump In The Night" is the second highlight of the album. Think Garbage and Aqua mixed together.---4.5/5

8-I know I'm totally biased, but I cannot get enough of Kylie Minogue. This song isn't even featured in the film, but I am grateful it's here. "Whenever You Feel Like It" is pure Kylie, and is the third highlight of this soundtrack.---5/5

9-Little T's "It's A Mystery" sure is a mystery. Why is this soft core rap on this soundtrack is the mystery.---1/5

10-Baha Men's "Scooby D"?? Enough said.---1/5

11-Atomic Fireball's "Man With the Hex"--c'mon! Swing is like SO late 90's.---0/5

12-Simple Plan's "Grow Up"?? Yeah, they should. Another blink-182 waiting to happen. Good thing this song is short.---1/5

13-MXPX's "Scooby-Doo..." is the 3rd to incorporate the theme...wait, it IS the theme, alternative style. It's short, too.---2/5

14-"Mystery Inc." is snippetts from the score. It's alright.---2/5

Now we have solved the mystery. Not exactly the greatest CD, but good for a movie soundtrack. Now bring on the movie!!

Kylie Minogue's "Whenever You Feel Like It", is a great dance tune! This song was supposed to be included on her album "Fever" but was taken off after she received "Come Into My World" from Kathy Dennis (writer/producer of "Can't Get You Out Of My Head") to record. If you want yet another song that didn't make it on the "Fever" CD but this disc.

Typical soundtrack released in coordination with an upcoming movie release.

Please ignore the RACIST comments above by Bekki Rosie Kalk.

Every track on this cd is listenable, the best track though is OUTKASTS "Land of a million drums" the beat is so catchy and you cant help but dance to it.

Worth a buy!
