Depends on your hair type... - Review written on March 31, 2008

I have really thick, hard to curl, dry, asian hair. This iron did not work for me at all. The iron did not get hot enough to do anything. I guess it would work if I did small one-inch sections, but I have so much hair, it's just not worth the time.
My friend, who has thin hair, uses this iron all the time and it works great.
I recommend the Hot Tools Waver or the Gold N Hot Waver. I use the Gold N Hot one...and I love it!

This is a great product for people who want big hair. It can really make your hair big especially for those who with fine hair like me. One thing I don't like about this product is that iron is really not hot enough and heats up relatively slowly comparing to my conair flatener. Because it's not hot enough, I don't think it's going to work well on thick hair.

I don't really use this iron to create a wavy look because I like big waves and this product can only make small waves. However, it comes pretty handy when I want some volume in my fine straight hair. I can just pin up the top layer and curl the inner most layer to create a look with good volume but straight hair.

Overall, it's worth the $14

I have been using this product for about 6 years. When I first tried it, my hair looked frizzy and I gave up on it for awhile. I didnt realize you do not brush it out at all or do any comb work. I use Aussie Scrunch spray to lift and hold. It takes almost an hour to do my whole head, but it stays all night when I go out which is difficult for my hair type. If I do it for work, I french braid my hair the night before then in the morning, un-do it and wave the top pieces. It looks fabulous, I get compliments EVERY time I do my hair this way and my friends always borrow it!!!

I have very fine hair and it is nearly impossible for me to find anything that actually works as far as curling it. I just ordered this and tried it out and I LOVE it! It gives the cutest curly/wavy look. It takes a little getting used to since it is so much larger than a regular curling iron, but it is really simple to use. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with fine hair.

It didn't make me look like a poodle at all. It did have a sort of cross between a curl and a crimp look but I like it. Also, it didn't make my hair frizzy either. It gave me smooth wavy curls.

The only con for me is that the wave plate is so large that it's easy to burn yourself. I accidentally burned my neck with it one day and it burned pretty bad after only touching the skin for a second. I have to be VERY careful with it now.

I used a friend's triple barrel fancy curling iron. I got lovely clean waves that still left my hair shiny but gave me waves, like the bird in the Pantene ad who is wandering down the stairs. It was fab. This nonsense made my hair frizzy and didn't really give me waves but a really ugly ball of mess.

All in all, it was pretty rubbish. Don't recommend it. Another bloody hair implement destined for the basket of no use!

Ugh! I was excited to use this when I received it some years ago but was very disappointed with the results. The "waves" come out very unnatural looking, more like a cross between a crimp and a curl. In fact, I think I'd actually prefer using a crimper over this thing, if you can imagine that! Just very unflattering. The barrels' size is just much too thin and I think if it had a thicker barrel it might be nice. However, the iron only has 2 heat settings also, which is a big minus. If you have VERY thin, fine hair this might be OK (well, just not AS bad), but if your hair is normal or as thick as mine, DON'T EVEN TRY IT! I would go for the Revlon 3-barrel Jumbo Waver over this (or something similar looking), which I think I'm about to try (the barrels seem alot thicker and better placed I think I could achieve the natural wavy look I'm trying for). But pass on this VS product.

This is a really cool waver-it doesn't create curls, it creats really cool waves. I used this for new years and my waves stayed the entire night! didn't have to hold it for long on my hair, Love it!

This thing is absolutely amazing!!! I have been looking for a hair waver/curling iron like that for a long time, and when I got this product and tried it out, the results were great, exactly what I was looking for! I got many compliments on my hair style. I would definitely recommend this product if you want to give your hair sweet and sexy look.

I also saw this product used by Paula on the Real World Key West and I love her wavy hair so I thought I'd try this out for a cheap enough price. I have super thick hair which can be slightly wavy if I let it dry naturally but I also have some straight sections too. This waver made my hair look like I have a loose perm, I love it. And if you want to have more defined waves/curls you can scrunch in some mouse or whatever styling product you prefer. My hair is about four inches past my shoulders and it took me 30 minutes to do all of it, but like I said my hair is very thick. This is a great way to get wavy hair with the permanence of a perm.

This works wonders on my straight, fine hair. Can be glamerous or funky. Only 4 stars due to the fact that it is difficult to master, but it is well worth the practice. Until you get the hang of it, it does make a really cute ponytail.

I was not happy with this curling iron. I have thick hair, and it did not even make a dent in my hair. It does not get very hot, which is why it did not work on my hair. If you have thick hair I would not waste your money on this.

I'm not sure if either I'm completely inept at doing my hair or this thing is just incredibly tricky to use. Nonetheless, the result that I've gotten has been very disappointing. I definitely wouldn't recommend this iron to someone who is not used to spending a lot of time on their hair and is very skilled at using all kinds of hair appliances. I think that this item will now sit in a closet never to be seen again...

I ordered the three-barrel waver iron after seeing it on "The Real World." And it's...ok. I was imaginging beautiful curls ala Jennifer Aniston at the Golden Globes and I got two weak little waves. They were barely better than a rubber band crimp!

This item is truly amazing. I love it. I have fine straight asian hair. However, within 8 minutes, I can transform my pin straight hair into a headful of wavy curls. I've gotten so many compliments. I am considering buying another iron as a reserve in case mine is lost or becomes broken. I would be absolutely devastated if Vidal Sassoon discontinued producing this product. The curls I have gotten are similar to the type of curls one would get from braiding wet hair and then sleeping on it overnight - except 50 times better !!! Give this product a try ... its amazing !!!!

I was very excited when I ordered my triple barrel curling iron from Vidal Sasson. I immidiatly tried it, and followed all of the instructions. I have thick hair and I was very surprised how well it worked on my hair. However, after I used it it had a crimp like effect, but slightly bigger waves. If this is the look your going for, this is perfect for you!

I was looking for something "different" without going to a salon. I just got over a drying perm from October. I have fine, but not thin color treated, blonde hair. Was a bit scared of the size of this thing, but....oooh...how shiny...had to buy it. Well, everyone loves my hair!! My husband says I look 5 yrs younger, hey "Are you leaving the house looking that good?" You know....It gives me loose perm like waves, last til the next day. Take a little styling spray to the underneath & wow !!! If your top has layers like mine, ya might have to develop a knack for that. Mine's great ! I luv luv luv it !!!!

I was at first skeptical about a three-barreled curling iron. It seemed like a basic crimper. WOW was I wrong. My hair is straight and thick. I wanted something to make it look defined and polished. The iron transformed my hair into shiny, silky strands. The waves are beautifully "S" shaped and can be as formal or funky as you want. It is sooo easy to use. It heats up almost instantly(plus there is low and high setting for different hair types) It was surprising quick. Whether you are going to the office or want a special style for that special night, this is the tool for you.

I thought this product would give me loose, natural waves like Shakira's 'do, but i was a bit disappointed when the waves were small and unnatural looking. After I was done with my whole head, which took me close to 2 hours since I have thick Asian hair, my hair was so bushy i looked like i had an afro. However..... after constant finger tousling to create ringlets, and use of pomades, I was able to get a more natural look that i was aiming for. I think this product would be a lot better if the barrel was a bit bigger, otherwise, I agree that it is comparable to crimping.

For some reason I was expecting a bit more of a curl. Instead, I ended up with a flashback to 4th grade and the crimping iron. This didn't give curls, it just crimps on a larger scale. I felt much like my parents' poodle after just a few sections. If you're looking for a wider crimped look, this is perfect. If you're looking for 'a head full of luscious curls' as advertised, you're out of luck.

You know, I was watching GILMORE GIRLS the other night and really loved the way that Lorelei was wearing her hair. I wondered how she did that.

Well, I happened to be in CVS today and saw this triple barrel waving iron and I was thrilled. I figured that it would achieve the look I was eager to try.

I have already been completely amazed at the VS volumizing line of products for hair which accomplish what NO OTHER HAIR CARE SYSTEM OF ANY PRICE HAS BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH EVER.

Well, let me tell you. When you combine the VS volumizing line of products with this amazing iron, the results are nothing short of SPECTACULAR. (if you use the products, let the company know, they are thinking of discontinuing them, because of lousy advertising-hardly anyone knows how amazing they are)

Baby fine hair is what I have. After using the combination of the hair products and this three barrel waver iron, I look like I just got a perm and have thick hair. And it stays like that all day, in fact so far up to three days without rewaving.

The iron is easy to use. Because it only does a single layer of hair at a time, you do not need to leave it in as long as a curling iron. 10-15 seconds and you are able to move on to another part of the hair. To do my complete hair, it is 10 -15 minutes tops.

There are two heat settings. Either setting is fine.

I can not rave about this iron enough, and the VS products which make it work especially well with thin fine hair.

Since my hair is pin-straight, I totally gave up on curling my tresses. However, when my friend insisted that I tried this product, I was in awe. This product is not only small enough to fit in my travel bag, but also left my hair with bouncy curls with definition and shine. I highly suggest anyone who is considering to curl there hair, but has doubts because of their straight hair. Go buy this and prove yourself wrong!
